  3. The wordmark on the home jerseys appears almost 3d, because the ends are slanted out, but on the aways it is straight. I think it would look a lot better if you made the wordmarks consistent with one another.
  4. In fairness, he doesn't say that they are authentic or real. In fact, he mentions that they are "better than the real ones". Is it shady? Yes. Is it fake? Yes. Is he lying? No.
  5. Maybe they should spend less time in the sports bars and more time in the film room / practice field.
  6. Wow. I don't even remember that style. I remember the ones pre-Barkley when they had a similiar lettering style to the Red Sox. Some quick searching revealed this: I guess that lettering was used, although the numbers are off.

    Florida Marlins Concept

I'm not the biggest fan of wordmarks with outlines around them on jerseys, so that they just look like a cheap patch cut in half for the buttons. Other than that, I really like the job you did on the letters, just not the outline around them on the jerseys. Also, are the white pants on the roads intentional? I'm not sure how that would fly.
  8. ...and it is,despite Greenspan's bleatings, stronger than the US economy is, at the moment. Either way, just keep in mind that I'm the sole Winnipegger not looking for the NHL to return to town anytime soon. Agreed, the Canadian dollar has had a nice run vs. the US dollar (at least through year-end which is all I've read up on.) But it must be frustrating for Canadian clubs to not really know how much their expenses are going to be due to the exchange rates. If they paid their salaries in Canadian dollars it wouldn't be an issue, but while they'd be looking OK now, it's not smart to take that exchange risk on a 40+million payroll. Once upon a time they did pay in Canadian dollars--then players asked to be padi in US dollars, and eventually that became the status quo... Can teams buy insurance against dollar value fluctuations? It seems that if such a thing were available, that the cost of it should come out of the (soon to come) revenue sharing pool since it would benefit the league as a whole to have stability with the Canadian (ien?) franchises.
  9. The "P" on the hood is unnecessary. It's funny. When I was growing up, my friends and I (as well as most Phillies fans I knew) hated that script and their uni's, and couldn't wait for a change. Now everyone loves it. I bet if they switched, everyone would be sick of it in a few years again. Oh well. *leans back in chair, closes eyes, has flashback* It reminds me of my childhood, and my first game in '86 when Michael Jack and Sammy did in the Dodgers 8-7. My favorite moment was Bedrosian relieving Don Carmen (who relieved Tekulve) for the save.
  10. It's very nice, I think you accomplished your goal well. I think that you could add a little detail in the bird's right (close) wing without making it too complicated. A simple line or something would work well.
  11. Agreed. It's noticable at the tips. Also, the cap "S" appears tilted a bit.

  13. I've been staring at this one a lot lately, because I really like it. I noticed something though (probably just a result of hours of staring trying to find a flaw): the amberjack is slightly tilted, so that even though we see the profile, it is moving toward the viewer. The mouth however looks almost flat, like a 2d profile. I may be completely off base here, like I said, I've been staring for a while. Anyone else think that? Or am I nuts?
  14. I'd love to see an alt jersey with navy pinstripes and the "DC" kind of like the Yankees style. For some reason I really like interlocking letters (I wish that KC would adopt the old A's style instead of the current style) and the DC is sweet.
  15. In addition to denoting posession, doesn't an apostrophe also signify the absense of letters? Such as with contractions? I would think that "A's" is OK.
  16. comerica park in detroit also has an area where passers-by can check out the action for free. My bad, Joel. Thanks for correcting me. I didn't know about Detroit. The field in Citizen's Bank Park in Phila. is actually below surface level, so if you are walking near the park you can actually look in and "down" on the field. You can't see the whole field, but it's still neat.
  17. Unfortunately, PGH's economy isn't able to support hockey / baseball either. PA is so different from east to west. House values, salaries, politics, etc. It's a shame because PGH is a cool town, even if on the small side.
  18. No disrespect to Canada or Canadians, but can those citied realistically generate the revenue required for a major sports franchise? Especially paying salaries in US$? They both lost teams before, and the Canadian economy is...well it is what it is.
  19. I would think that Federal laws may just supercede baseball rules.
  20. This ranking is bogus! They ranked the Phillies ownership at #69. Anyone that follows the team knows they deserved no higher than last.
  21. Actually, I think it's a great idea. If you only go to a couple of games / year (or are a kid with no real job) then it doesn't matter to you. But what if you live in the city and go to dozens (or even all) of home games? You are leaving your office, but have unfinished work, so you go to the game and work on it. Not everyone goes to baseball games and is fixated on every second of the game. Baseball is too slow for that. But, a ballpark is a great place just to "be." I think more people may attend games if they new it didn't mean being late with a project or report or story. Or even just for casual browsing. I wish Citizens Bank Park had them.
  22. MY GOD WILL ANYONE EVER SHUT UP ABOUT THE MIDFIELD FACEMASK Nope. It was a rediculous oversight, and deserves to be brought up.
  23. Why not just turn off signatures? Works for me.
