  1. Updated 3/31: Elite 8 Complete/Final Four Set Elite 8 Complete/Final Four Set: First Four: On Off Sweet 16 Complete: First Four On First Four Off Round of 32 Complete: First Four On First Four Off Round of 64 Complete: First Four On First Four Off First Four Round of 64 with First Four off Release (3840x2160) A new year, a new theme and look. Info after the photo. - A clean look, optimized for larger, hopefully easier to read school/team name and overall record text. - Tournament Title in white and black trim, with an orange shadow - Round of 64 teams will have smaller logos than in last years first round. In addition, Round of 64 team records will be replaced with that Team's game score. - Round of 32 through the Elite Eight features a slightly smaller pod, but a more vertical logo. Above the divider will be the school name, and below will be the Team's game score. - Round of 32 through the Elite Eight orange end caps will be changed to the team's color once they advance. - The Final Four, black team pod with orange gradient trim. - National Championship matchup features black team pods with gold gradient trim. Note: The "First Games" are at the bottom center of the bracket, but may be covered by a app dock or other apps. I've turned on dock hiding and that fixes the issue. But once the First Four is complete, I'll remove the first four pods for a cleaner bracket. C&C: I thought about lightening the background, as it's a little darker here than I anticipated, then again it might just be the perfectionist in me.
  2. What do you think are the worst uniforms for each NBA team? Here are my choices ...
  3. I teased this series in my Bucks modernization concept, but now the series is ready to go. I've plotted out a redesign of the NBA, with the intended goal of breaking up the monotony of most of the league's looks by placing its aesthetics between 70's/80's tradition and 90's crazy. These concepts also buck with current trends in the league, going back to the pre-Rev30 material (allowing for proper twill lettering, pinstripes, split numbers, and effects on the fabric) and having college lines on the courts (as I feel they add more color to the key). Also, a big thank you to Conrad for his NBA Font collection, as without it this project would have been impossible. Completed teams: Atlanta Hawks Boston Celtics Brooklyn Nets Charlotte Hornets (V2) (V3) Chicago Bulls Cleveland Cavaliers Dallas Mavericks (V2) Denver Nuggets (Court V2) (V2) Detroit Pistons (Road V2) Houston Rockets (V1.5) (V2) (V3) Indiana Pacers Kansas City Diesels (Alt V2) Los Angeles Clippers (V2) Los Angeles Lakers Memphis Grizzlies Miami Heat (V2) (V3) (V3.5) Milwaukee Bucks (Alt V2) (V2) Minnesota Timberwolves (V2) New Orleans Pelicans New York Knicks (V2) Oklahoma City Thunder (V2) (V3) Orlando Magic (V2A) (V2B) (V3) Philadelphia 76ers (V2) (V3) Phoenix Suns (V2) Portland Trail Blazers Sacramento Kings (Road V2) San Antonio Spurs San Francisco Warriors (V2) Seattle Supersonics (V2) Toronto Raptors (Alt V2) Utah Jazz (V2) (V3) Washington Federals Division Alignment and Design Compilations So, without any further delay, here's the first team in the league, the Atlanta Hawks! ATLANTA HAWKS When the Atlanta Hawks released their new secondary logo, I immediately leaped on the idea of a fauxback/neo-retro look for them (much like what I wish the Falcons would do). I started out by going back to the red and yellow color scheme, as red solo looked far too plain and black really cluttered up the look (also, I believe that any team that added black in the 90's when they did not have black before should remove all black from their color scheme, i.e. Calgary Flames, Cincinnati Reds, 1998-2011 New York Mets, etc.). So, I simply placed a yellow outline on the new secondary, adjusted the 2003 All-Star Game alternate logo to be the new secondary, and removed the beveling from the "ATL" logo. The court is a retro-styled look, with the new pac-hawk logo at center court, yellow detailing along with the red paint, and the retro Hawk within the 3-point line. Uniforms While I do appreciate the 'Nique-era look, I was not enough of a fan to bring it back full time. So, I decided to hybrid their late-70's look with their early 2000's look. I maintained the current lettering and number font, as it is my favorite part of their current look. Crew neck collars return, as they enhance the retro feel and the Hawks used them up until the Rev30 was introduced. The result is a fusion of classic sensibilities with some modern touches. The first alternate is a yellow alt based on this look (which was easy to recreate, thanks to Conrad's "Highlight Factory" font) that also justifies using the "ATL" script (because of the size issues related to the striping pattern), and the second is a throwback to the 'Nique era (they were too iconic to leave out of the redesign). Up next, the Boston Celtics!
  4. I know it is a little late to be starting up a college basketball concept, but I finally made a basketball template that I like. The template is based off of the Nike Aeroswift template which is currently used by many Nike teams, and I added a U-Neck version of it similar to what Michigan and Duke use. I will be making a set of 4 jerseys for each team that I do. I have already done a few teams, so I will start with Auburn. Jerseys -Text is similar to the Charles Barkley era and what they currently wear, leaving the copperplate gothic era behind. -Trim is similar to what they used to wear, but I wanted to change it up a little bit. -For the orange jersey, I'm not sure whether it would look better with blue and white switched or not. Pants -Stripe is similar to the one on their football helmet, with the logo on it towards the bottom.
  5. What uniforms do you think are each NBA team's best look? Here are mine ...
  6. Selection Sunday is a couple of weeks away and Nike and Adidas usually release new uniforms for a couple of teams. If your team is a lock for the Tourney, then expect a concept to be made for them. These are the teams that I'll be doing. Nike Gonzaga Arizona Villanova Duke Kentucky Florida North Carolina Oregon West Virginia Virginia Purdue Adidas Kansas UCLA Louisville Wisconsin Here are my Kansas Jayhawks
  7. This is the United Basketball Association. The UBA is comprised of 5 different independent basketball leagues that merged together to form one large league. Each league became its own division. Northeast Basketball League was founded in 1960
  8. Working on a 1983 themed March Madness bracket and I'm finding these Gonzaga logos without years. Which one do you think they used then? I've gone through online yearbooks without success and I believe the current bulldog head logo appeared in '98. Thank you.
  9. For March Madness I am making a themed bracket based on Stranger Things. The year is 1983 and all of the the logos for March Madness will be from 1983. However I am having issues finding what the Belmont Rebels look like. FYI Belmont changed their name in 1995 to the Bruins. I may share the bracket if there's interest.

  12. Once again; this would not end up being used by the school. They have tooooo much invested in Herbie looking guys. But I tried to think of some mascots that fit the name, region, and aren't human. Because let's face it, it won't be long until all human mascots will offend someone. My 2 options here are: Raccoon- They are always raiding the corn fields, cribs, and silos. They are from the animal family Musteloidea so they fit in the BIG10. They have peopleish hands so to get to the corn they actually husk it. They are un-used in D1. Drawback- many farmers hate them. Scarecrow- They are associated with fields/corn fields. Human-ish so it's not as far of a move from Herbie. They are un-used in D1. They are often stuffed with corn husks. Drawback- seem to be either too creepy or too friendly. Here are the looks: Raccoon: Not sure about the eyes A B Scarecrow: Let me know what you think. If you think they should just have a Herbie, then explain why in a way that is not "because that's what they've always had".
  13. Let me start by saying that this is NOT intended to replace the grinning Goldy. Also, I KNOW that the school would not replace the current Goldy with this one. After I did the Michigan Wolverine and Wisconsin Badger I thought I'd try to give a similar feel to the Minnesota Gophers. I used the 13 striped ground squirrel for reference; no it's not a gopher but judging by Goldy's tail it's what he is based off of and many people call the ground squirrel a gopher. I think it turned out to have a good balance of cute and fight. Comment with your thoughts.
  14. Before I'm away for the weekend, I thought I'd leave you with this new design and a few thoughts. I was recently inspired to draw-up a falcon image and while working it out I chose to think metacognitively about my process. What follows are a list of some of the thoughts that were........thunk. 1. Lets see what a falcon looks like Search for falcon images 2. Falcons have big eyes and a small beak compared to eagles and hawks, that's a distiguishing feature Draw out the shape of a basic falcon head 3. An angled pose would be most dynamic Search falcon in stoop or stooping falcon stooping is a funny word Add more slant to composition 4. They almost have an innocent look to them 5. Try to keep some of the innocent look 6. I wanna keep that ring around the eye, that's a distiguishing feature 7. Since the eye doesn't have much anger, what makes them scary? They are FAST..... lightning shapes They have a black colored eye... no yellow in the eye itself like hawks and eagles, that's a distiguishing feature Search falcon screeching 8. Erase closed beak, draw in open mouth 9. Keep dark portion of beak, that's a distiguishing feature 10. Work in the dark shape in the feather colors on the face 11. Huh, that doesn't look half bad References used:
  15. Sports has been a part of my life since the beginning. One of my biggest interests in design is sports identities. When I was young I was often drawing a team logo, colouring in a jersey or creating my own versions. In mid–2016 I took on a 70 day challenge for a project I was doing in school. I knew this would be tough to handle so I decided the make it more suitable to my interest. The goal of this challenge was to redesign an existing sports logo every day for 70 days. Each logo redesign involved preliminary research about the team/city, sketching out all my ideas on paper, executing a digital version through Illustrator. I ended up creating a booklet with small rationales for my thinking, design choices and overall thoughts on the project. Sportslogos.net was a place I went to every day to discover new teams to redesign.
  16. Hi Guys As I wanted to play to the MyGM mode in NBA 2k17 with an expansion team, I decided to create some logos Feel free to give advices and cristicisms.
  17. Ive always been into making logos for teams in video game systems, it started with custom colleges in the latter years of NCAA Football, and has blossomed into making teams for NBA2K17. Here's my first ones from scratch, i'm very open to suggestions. All done in Photoshop CS6
  18. Hello once again, everyone! If you've been on the boards for some time, you may have seen me post concepts like this before. I've done MLB, I did NFL, and recently, I asked on Twitter which one I should tackle next. How it works is: imagine if every team in the league got a rebrand/refresh. New wordmarks, new primary, sometimes, new colors. Sometimes old throwback colors! Who knows?! Traditionally speaking, I have not done uniforms for the rebranding effort - but, if someone wanted to do that, you're more than welcome to. Just be sure to credit me for the work I've done. But without further ado, here's the new look Raptors. __ If you're just joining us, here's what's been up so far: Toronto Raptors (EDITED) Boston Celtics Fauxback Los Angeles Lakers (EDITED) Phoenix Suns (EDITED) Washington Wizards WITH TIMELAPSE VIDEO! NBLC Courts

Hey everyone, Have been on the forums here for a couple of years but haven't done a concept series yet, so I have decided to give it a go. I will be doing court concepts for the National Basketball League of Canada. The NBLC was founded in 2011, the league has ten teams with five located in the Maritime (Halifax, Moncton, Sydney, Charlottetown & Saint John) Breton provinces and five in Ontario (London, Windsor, Orangeville, Kitchener & St Catherines) I will be starting the series with my hometown 2-time champion London Lightning. The current court is plain, bland and doesn't have any character. Players often step out of bounds because there isn't any colour outside of the playing area. Possibly the most popular team in the league, the court deserves to reflect the team well. C & C appreciated! I will be using Conrad's NBA template for the courts. Current court (Best I could find) New court
  21. Here is a GIF of the progression of my Gold Medal winning Logolypiad entry.
  22. Concept basketball league. Anyone can upload teams until i feel we have enough teams. start off with just a logo or logo package. Teams can be anywhere in North America.
  23. Hey guys! I preordered the new NBA 2k16 video game so it should be here Friday and I wanted to get started on my MyTEAM identity seeing as they have lots of new customization options. I have never created a new team identity before and this is the first logo I've ever made so I would love some advice! I live in Omaha, NE and noticed that the game has the option to locate a team there so I based my team around that. I went with the team name of storm because there already is an Omaha Storm Chasers baseball team and plus I figured I could get a cool color scheme and uniforms from it . So here we go! I have a logo, home, away, alt and pride uniform for the Omaha Storm! Logo: I'm pretty happy with this logo for it being my first one but I would love some advice on how to improve it because it doesn't seem quite there yet. I tried to make my own word mark but it wasn't turning out so I went with Conrad's Autzen font. Home: The uniforms are pretty self explanatory but I did want to add the fact that I added the little tag at the bottom of the jersey that Adidas has been doing to "motivate" their players that reads, "O.N.E. City O.N.E. Team". The "O.N.E." stands for Omaha, Nebraska. Away: Alt: Pride: I don't know how much I'm feeling this uniform but couldn't really think of another aspect of Omaha to base it off of other than the city flag. But let me know what you think and I'll welcome any suggestions for more "pride" ideas! Thanks for looking and feedback is appreciated!
  24. Not exactly sure where to post this. I recreated (to the best of my ability) the NBA championship banners they hang on the stadiums. This should actually be a thing in this site. Just reply if you have any corrections. To hell with wordmarks. Enjoy.
  25.
