  1. I draw up this logo in my notebook when I was a sophomore in high school and i was really proud of it. Now i want to make it better i anyway possible. Give me some ideas on what should I improve.
  2. Hey forum people, how's it going!? My name is Oliver Petrovic and I am a young, up and coming graphical designer. That's what I want to do in my life but I like sports just as much. So I decided to put those two together and do something with my free time. I love basketball and i'm from Croatia. I really don't like courts of Croatian basketball teams.I wanted them to look like NBA courts, which are absolutely awesome and they scream team colors and logos. Here's my first one. The team is called Cibona, I am certain somebody heard of them. Cibona is a birthplace of the greatest Croatian basketball player Drazen Petrovic. I am very proud to share his last name, the arena share his name as well. Please leave me some constructive criticism and i will keep making these courts for other ABA League teams. Also, if you guys want i will start making concepts for NBA teams. But my priority right now will be making courts for ABA league. Thanks for all the feedback and i hope you enjoy.
  3. Just started playing around with a Mavs redesign, thought I'd throw out the logo I'm working with. Not earth-shattering by any means, but my objective was to infuse a little bit of western flair without adding any hokey. Going back to green and the cowboy hat. More to come. Probably.
  4. In response to the announcement that the Mavs may be redesigning their uniforms, here's my first-draft attempt. - Brings green back into the color scheme - Side striping designed to resemble a horse's stirrups - Lone Star of Texas forms the notch in the shorts - Western typeface and styling evoke a more distinctively Texan identity HOME: AWAY: AWAY (alternative version if you don't want a third color in your color scheme): Any feedback is much appreciated. UPDATE: I've also been toying with an idea for a Mavs logo (unrelated to the above concept) for a while now, so I thought I'd see what you all thought about that as well. Obviously, this is far from a finished concept -- not only is it currently using a design recycled from another team's defunct logo (Detroit's), but the execution in general is still really sloppy. This is more a "proof of concept" thing, just to see if the idea might be worth refining some more. The basic idea is a horse's head that resembles the state of Texas when turned upside-down (the ambigram wordmark is just sort of an extra). It could be used as a secondary court logo or something. Thoughts?
  5. Hi, I present my latest logo prepared for the professional basketball player. Marcus Ginyard is an American professional basketball player from the University of North Carolina. Full presentation: Process: http://www.behance.n...ip/67905/271857 The logo consists of three elements: The old well (Chapel Hill, UNC) Dog tags - MG Tattoo MG initials Please, constructive criticism and evaluation.
  6. Hi everybody, new member here. Just thought I'd post this and see if anyone had any thoughts on it. (By the way, please forgive the poor image quality; this was a fairly quick-and-dirty effort.) To start, here's the Hawks' current look. Great lines and curves, but the red-white-and-blue color scheme has become a bit boring and generic now that five different NBA teams are using it. Here's my new color scheme concept, designed to sort of resemble the colors of an actual red-tailed hawk: Updated logos: New court design possibilities: Retro-style uniforms for throwback nights:
  7. Today, the NCAA and CBS announced that beginning in 2014, the Final Four will be on TBS for the next 2 seasons, so if you don't have cable you better get it. http://www.nationofb...the-final-four/ http://aol.sportingn...ament-2014-2015 http://www.twincitie...four-moving-tbs
  8. The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of ten company-branded franchised teams. It was the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest in the world after the NBA. (Wikipedia) Here are the logos:
  9. With the NBA presason just a week away, I figured it was time to fire up the season thread. The league announced a new anti-flopping campaign today, and will now fine players who fly all over the court in an attempt the draw a foul. It'll be interesting to see how many fines are handed out to players who take a charge, when essentially ALL players on the recieving end of a charge is guilty of a total dive.
  10. Nebraska basketball has never been much to talk about, but the university is in the midst of massive upgrades to Pinnacle Bank Arena where the hoops teams play, as well as several other sports like volleyball. They just unveiled the new floor design, which I like. I love the simplicity of the two-tone wood, and the state silhouette at center court is a nice touch.
  11. Apologies if this is a repost or dupe. Did a search, saw nothing about it. And the article: http://articles.sun-...golden-panthers
  12. New logo and identity for the WNBA: Full story here: Seems a good move forward, though I'm not sure it will help popularity of the league...good stuff from a design prospective nonetheless, imo.
  13. Ottawa's new basketball team will be changing their name from TomaHawks after an outcry from Ottawa's aboriginal community. The team is the latest expansion in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC). The league currently has eight teams (London, Oshawa, Windsor, Montreal, Summerside, Saint John, Moncton, and Halifax) Too bad, I kind of liked it (even if they stole the Moncton Miracles colours)
  14. So my high school happens to play in the same section as these two teams so it's pretty cool to me. But forget about all of that, this might be the craziest basketball play I've ever seen at any level. The rest will go unsaid for now, just watch:
  15. Personally, not sure if I'm digging them or not, but anyway... (oops, missed these in the NBA mega-thread)
  16. Interesting design for the Mountain West basketball tournament court... Your thoughts?
  17. I'm currently working pretty hard on my NHL redesign which can be seen here, but I'm having some pretty hardcore creative block, so I decided I'd do something a little different. I decided I would take some of the European Football Clubs and imagine if they played North American sports (American Football, Basketball, and Ice Hockey). I left baseball out because I'm currently working on a new realistic baseball template similar to my hockey one, and it's not quite done yet. Anyways, I started with Manchester United. I took elements from their kits and applied them to each of the uniforms. Also, since their nickname is the Red Devils, I also took some inspiration from other Devils teams. You can see that influence in the shoulder yoke on the hockey uniforms and the pitchfork logo on the football helmet. Here are their kits (uniforms) for reference: C/C?
  18. Forgive me, I'm pretty terrible at computer graphics. I always prefer to draw freehand. I'm not closing doors on them though. Anyway, this is my concept on the new identity of the the Toronto Raptors. My first one with complete package, by the way. I used to post my NBA homecourt concepts on this website. Check the archives for proof. IT'S BEEN A WHILE. Three years, baby. I feel that this team has a bright future, as long as they ditch Bargnani. I just love them even though they're pretty mediocre. Fire Bryan Colangelo. I may be a LeBron/Heat fan, but I see something special in their young roster. They just have to recruit high-profile free agents (Which I've been experimenting right now with the help of NBA 2K13.) Redundancy at its finest, lol. Aesthetically, to embark a new beginning in winning and earn a modest rep, I decided to ditch their current identity and revise it. Simple and fast. S/O to the fellas who created the templates for the home court and the uniform. I can't remember ya'll names but thanks for the help 'doe! Here's the whole thing: Logos Home Uniform (Arrow changed directions from 'up' to 'down' and used pinstripes from the original uniform. Mixture of eras, indeed. More black = toughness.) FONTS A.‘RAPTORS’ Script: Orena B.Jersey number: Vox C.Jersey surname in the back: Qargotek Away Jersey (Yup. Ain't typo.) Alternate Jersey Home court (Pacers-inspired, plus slogan of 'BEYOND BROTHERHOOD' represents the team's value of teamwork and competitiveness. As the NBA's only Maply Leaf nation team, the slogan also promotes the 'remembering' veteran soldiers from the WW1. They made Canada a legitimate nation, mainly due to their courage and teamwork. Be inspired.) Sketches Any comments and suggestions?
  19. here is a Sacramento concept, just logos for now, uniforms to come. one thing i need help with is the accent on the i, im not sure what shape to make it and i dont like the current one, any ideas? Primary Secondary c&c would be apreciated
  20. This is sort of an occasional thought I've had over the years (and sorry in advance if something like this is being discussed on a different topic) and it has to do with the idea of farm systems. I guess my main question why is it, after all these years, the only sport to successfully manage, maintain, and run a proper farm system for it's major league is baseball? Is a farm system good in all sports or is it better to have leagues scattered across the country so that many more cities can say they have a minor league, lets say basketball, team even if it's usually for around 5 years on average if that. If football is considered our most popular sport in this country why hasn't there been a proper farm system for the NFL ever? I know back in the hayday when the original USFL was around there was a party of owners and such that long-term wanted to turn the USFL into essentially NFL's farm league during the spring but of course Donald Trump had other plans. Personally I have an answer I wonder if anyone has thought of. What if back in its hayday, the AFL became the NFL's farm league? You wouldn't have to fill 32 teams with 56 man rosters, in terms of eye appeal 10,000 fans watching an arena football game is a much better atmosphere than having 10,000 fans for an outdoors game, and economically its cheaper to run a team playing in an arena with luxury boxes then a football stadium designed for a FCS college team (btw I'm just using 10,000 as a predictable average estimate seeing how little turnout their was in the USFL in certain markets). And in terms of basketball I guess I ask how long do you think it will take for the NBDL to have one team for every one NBA team (they're at 16 teams right now)?
  21. Reveler -n. festive merrymaker who participate in the period of Carnival, the day of Mardi Gras, by partipating in the balls, or other events, including parades en masse. Crowds at a Mardi Gras parade who are more than spectators, they are participants.
  22. Hello everyone, new to posting here at the boards. I've just started learning how to use Illustrator and am looking for some comments and constructive criticism to my work. Now on to the work.. I'm a student at NU and I can't stand our logo at all, so to practice in Illustrator, I wanted to come up with a logo for the Niagara Purple Eagles that is a change from the old. While it's a little rough I'm pretty happy with the first results

Okay, this is my first post to this website, but I do love this website, it is amazing. Ever since I was a kid, I had a fantasy basketball team called the Columbus Wings from Columbus Ohio. if anyone is good with making logos/jerseys/etc., would you want to give making one a shot? no color preferences, other than I've always imagined it being a Blue/Gray/White combo. thanks!
  24. The life of a HS senior and preping up for college (AP classes,Studio Art) has really taking up my designing time designated for here on the boards, especially my HBCU Lacrosse series. I wanted to do something different since there has never been any hoops concepts for HBCUs here. BTW, I recall Buc doing a dynomite football series a couple years ago and it kind of inspired me to do my own set of series. The first school in my HBCU series is the Howard University Bison, located in Washington, D.C.. Howard is the only private HBCU in the District while UDC is the only public one. Many people may recognize the Bison for the sharp similarity to the Buffalo Bills logo but, in fact Howard made the logo first. Of course, Howard's colors are blue and red. Most of the athletic teams wear a navyish blue instead of what the primary athletics logo looks like. Also, they use minimal to no red in their uniforms. I wanted to put an end to this double blue identity crisis by using the correct RGB value throughout. Also, I ended up including red as an accent color on the wordmark and number outlines. Sorry if the words look slanted but the uniform is done at a certain angle. Howard's uniforms may look bland with only two colors but I believe that the template makes or breaks your look. Curse you Russelll Athletic! So, anyways here's my work. CC is welcome and strongly recomended. Road: Home: The Florida A&M Rattlers(Tallahassee, FL) are up next. SPOILER: One of the alts look like BFBS but there is a story linked to the school wearing black years ago I'll be posting later on.
