  1. So I started to make an AeroSwift template when it was unveiled, and I didn't have enough resources to complete it at the time, so I moved on, worked on other things and now, in the the biggest basketball month of the year, I finally have a template. It will be an .ai file and I'm still debating on a release right away. But in the meantime, and to make sure that I worked out all the bugs, I decided to roll in a Sweet 16 concept thread with it. First things first, here's the template. And starting off the concepts is the Wisconsin/Florida matchup: Wisconsin's newish look doesn't change a whole lot with the move to the template. Biggest difference is the leg stripes wrap around the legs this time. So I do not like Florida's current uniforms, the panel design just isn't doing it for me, so I mixed the HyperElite Disruption uniforms with the sublimated gator pattern, and the stripe pattern from the 2013 uniforms and you get the above result. I know I'm a day late dollar short for the whole set of games, but I still plan on getting through them all to the finals. C&C welcome!!
  2. This is a real uniform the Steelers play off-season basketball in. They're playing the Pitt Panthers soon...
  3. I know it is a little late to be starting up a college basketball concept, but I finally made a basketball template that I like. The template is based off of the Nike Aeroswift template which is currently used by many Nike teams, and I added a U-Neck version of it similar to what Michigan and Duke use. I will be making a set of 4 jerseys for each team that I do. I have already done a few teams, so I will start with Auburn. Jerseys -Text is similar to the Charles Barkley era and what they currently wear, leaving the copperplate gothic era behind. -Trim is similar to what they used to wear, but I wanted to change it up a little bit. -For the orange jersey, I'm not sure whether it would look better with blue and white switched or not. Pants -Stripe is similar to the one on their football helmet, with the logo on it towards the bottom.
  4. Hello All As many of you are well aware, Adidas releases postseason jerseys for some of their teams to wear in tournaments. Nike does not do this, so I decided to try my hand at this idea. I have 12 teams that I will be doing jerseys for, and if those turn out well, I may take some requests for teams from the NCAA tournament. Without further ado, here are the first two sets, North Carolina and Butler. NORTH CAROLINA: For the Tar Heels, I've always thought that navy blue would be better than black. So here it is. A navy jersey with their Carolina blue as the accent color. Argyle pattern remains on the shorts, and the word mark is a baseball word mark that I thought worked well for these jerseys. BUTLER: For the Bulldogs, I focused on the aspect that they are Indianapolis' big team. The Indy skyline appears on the jersey, and the flag of the city is the shorts design. Hope you all like these, and of course C&C is appreciated! Thanks for looking.
  5. Working on a 1983 themed March Madness bracket and I'm finding these Gonzaga logos without years. Which one do you think they used then? I've gone through online yearbooks without success and I believe the current bulldog head logo appeared in '98. Thank you.
  6. Updated 3/31: Elite 8 Complete/Final Four Set Elite 8 Complete/Final Four Set: First Four: On Off Sweet 16 Complete: First Four On First Four Off Round of 32 Complete: First Four On First Four Off Round of 64 Complete: First Four On First Four Off First Four Round of 64 with First Four off Release (3840x2160) A new year, a new theme and look. Info after the photo. - A clean look, optimized for larger, hopefully easier to read school/team name and overall record text. - Tournament Title in white and black trim, with an orange shadow - Round of 64 teams will have smaller logos than in last years first round. In addition, Round of 64 team records will be replaced with that Team's game score. - Round of 32 through the Elite Eight features a slightly smaller pod, but a more vertical logo. Above the divider will be the school name, and below will be the Team's game score. - Round of 32 through the Elite Eight orange end caps will be changed to the team's color once they advance. - The Final Four, black team pod with orange gradient trim. - National Championship matchup features black team pods with gold gradient trim. Note: The "First Games" are at the bottom center of the bracket, but may be covered by a app dock or other apps. I've turned on dock hiding and that fixes the issue. But once the First Four is complete, I'll remove the first four pods for a cleaner bracket. C&C: I thought about lightening the background, as it's a little darker here than I anticipated, then again it might just be the perfectionist in me.
  7. This is the United Basketball Association. The UBA is comprised of 5 different independent basketball leagues that merged together to form one large league. Each league became its own division. Northeast Basketball League was founded in 1960
  8. I wasn't sure where to put all of these, so I figured I'd start a new thread of small little finds I found while browsing the 'net -- and specifically, right now -- Getty Images. Most of these are small oddities, difficult finds and what not. I was going to open this up to stuff I found in other sports, but basketball and NBA history in the 70s and 80s has recently captured my attention. Anyways ... some of my finds: GORGEOUS Color vs. Color in Baltimore against the Bullets and Warriors (also note it's Ladies Night!) Royals vs. Warriors game in Phoenix's Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The caption says it was a 1967 pre-season game. Note Rick Barry in the old-style Warriors' jersey. He never wore these in the regular season as 'The City' jerseys were introduced on Opening Night 1967. Larry Nance wearing #6 in the half season right after he was traded to Cleveland from Phoenix. Similarly, Kevin Johnson wore #11 in Phoenix for the half season after he was traded from Cleveland to Phoenix. Interesting font and styling of Tom McMillen's name on this Hawks' jersey. Not sure why the underline? Notice the name on the back of Dave Stallworth of the Bullets. The name was pretty long so the "st" of Stallworth is white to not clash with the blue stripe.
  9. For March Madness I am making a themed bracket based on Stranger Things. The year is 1983 and all of the the logos for March Madness will be from 1983. However I am having issues finding what the Belmont Rebels look like. FYI Belmont changed their name in 1995 to the Bruins. I may share the bracket if there's interest.
  10. Selection Sunday is a couple of weeks away and Nike and Adidas usually release new uniforms for a couple of teams. If your team is a lock for the Tourney, then expect a concept to be made for them. These are the teams that I'll be doing. Nike Gonzaga Arizona Villanova Duke Kentucky Florida North Carolina Oregon West Virginia Virginia Purdue Adidas Kansas UCLA Louisville Wisconsin Here are my Kansas Jayhawks

  14. Once again; this would not end up being used by the school. They have tooooo much invested in Herbie looking guys. But I tried to think of some mascots that fit the name, region, and aren't human. Because let's face it, it won't be long until all human mascots will offend someone. My 2 options here are: Raccoon- They are always raiding the corn fields, cribs, and silos. They are from the animal family Musteloidea so they fit in the BIG10. They have peopleish hands so to get to the corn they actually husk it. They are un-used in D1. Drawback- many farmers hate them. Scarecrow- They are associated with fields/corn fields. Human-ish so it's not as far of a move from Herbie. They are un-used in D1. They are often stuffed with corn husks. Drawback- seem to be either too creepy or too friendly. Here are the looks: Raccoon: Not sure about the eyes A B Scarecrow: Let me know what you think. If you think they should just have a Herbie, then explain why in a way that is not "because that's what they've always had".
  15. Let me start by saying that this is NOT intended to replace the grinning Goldy. Also, I KNOW that the school would not replace the current Goldy with this one. After I did the Michigan Wolverine and Wisconsin Badger I thought I'd try to give a similar feel to the Minnesota Gophers. I used the 13 striped ground squirrel for reference; no it's not a gopher but judging by Goldy's tail it's what he is based off of and many people call the ground squirrel a gopher. I think it turned out to have a good balance of cute and fight. Comment with your thoughts.
  16. Sports has been a part of my life since the beginning. One of my biggest interests in design is sports identities. When I was young I was often drawing a team logo, colouring in a jersey or creating my own versions. In midā€“2016 I took on a 70 day challenge for a project I was doing in school. I knew this would be tough to handle so I decided the make it more suitable to my interest. The goal of this challenge was to redesign an existing sports logo every day for 70 days. Each logo redesign involved preliminary research about the team/city, sketching out all my ideas on paper, executing a digital version through Illustrator. I ended up creating a booklet with small rationales for my thinking, design choices and overall thoughts on the project. Sportslogos.net was a place I went to every day to discover new teams to redesign.
  17. Before I'm away for the weekend, I thought I'd leave you with this new design and a few thoughts. I was recently inspired to draw-up a falcon image and while working it out I chose to think metacognitively about my process. What follows are a list of some of the thoughts that were........thunk. 1. Lets see what a falcon looks like Search for falcon images 2. Falcons have big eyes and a small beak compared to eagles and hawks, that's a distiguishing feature Draw out the shape of a basic falcon head 3. An angled pose would be most dynamic Search falcon in stoop or stooping falcon stooping is a funny word Add more slant to composition 4. They almost have an innocent look to them 5. Try to keep some of the innocent look 6. I wanna keep that ring around the eye, that's a distiguishing feature 7. Since the eye doesn't have much anger, what makes them scary? They are FAST..... lightning shapes They have a black colored eye... no yellow in the eye itself like hawks and eagles, that's a distiguishing feature Search falcon screeching 8. Erase closed beak, draw in open mouth 9. Keep dark portion of beak, that's a distiguishing feature 10. Work in the dark shape in the feather colors on the face 11. Huh, that doesn't look half bad References used:
  18. Here we go again..... It's been awhile since I dabbled with the Thunder's look. I'm starting off slow this time with a concept board. It shows several different configurations of bison/cloud looks. The key ideas/thoughts/buzz words here are; power - maleficent - foreboding. Let me know what you think.

    NBLC Courts

Hey everyone, Have been on the forums here for a couple of years but haven't done a concept series yet, so I have decided to give it a go. I will be doing court concepts for the National Basketball League of Canada. The NBLC was founded in 2011, the league has ten teams with five located in the Maritime (Halifax, Moncton, Sydney, Charlottetown & Saint John) Breton provinces and five in Ontario (London, Windsor, Orangeville, Kitchener & St Catherines) I will be starting the series with my hometown 2-time champion London Lightning. The current court is plain, bland and doesn't have any character. Players often step out of bounds because there isn't any colour outside of the playing area. Possibly the most popular team in the league, the court deserves to reflect the team well. C & C appreciated! I will be using Conrad's NBA template for the courts. Current court (Best I could find) New court
  22. This is my attempt at an Eagles logo for a fictional basketball team from Louisville. I am still deciding on colors. C&C is welcome.
