  2. The African American Sports & Entertainment Group -- an Oakland, California-based alliance of Black business people and community leaders -- wants to buy the City of Oakland's 50% share of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum complex. (The Alameda County government agreed to sell its 50% interest in that tract of land to MLB's Oakland Athletics in April 2019.) The Oakland City Council has scheduled a tentative July 20 vote on whether or not to approve the AASEG's term sheet for the city's Coliseum site stake. (Coincidentally, July 20 is also when the council intends to vote on a term sheet for the Athletics' proposed Howard Terminal ballpark.) A "yes" vote on the AASEG's term sheet would allow that company to start to negotiate with the Oakland city government on a deal to buy the city's half of the site. https://www.sfchronicle.com/local-politics/article/A-s-surprised-that-Oakland-may-consider-16242444.php Among the AASEG's long-term goals is ownership of an NFL team that would not only play in Oakland at a new stadium within the Coliseum campus, but also be that league's first franchise with majority Black ownership. https://www.aasegoakland.com/nfl-team https://www.aasegoakland.com/stadium For now, the NFL has not gone public with any plan for further expansion (let alone within the United States). However, almost a year ago at this time, the AASEG went ahead and supplied the league with a letter of intent to file a formal application for a new franchise. https://www.aasegoakland.com/our-letter-to-the-nfl https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/NFL-Oakland-team-community-stadium-plan-Goodell-15354429.php Since it is likely that the AASEG could buy an existing NFL club and then at least try to move that team to Oakland, I gave serious thought to posting all of this in the NFL "Relocation Roundelay" thread. Also, given the impact that the AASEG's quest could have on the Oakland Athletics' goal of full ownership of the Coliseum complex (even though the A's want to have a new ballpark away from that swath of land as soon as possible) or even the A's ownership's dream of a Howard Terminal development (which is intended to be funded partially by redevelopment of a 100%-A's-owned Coliseum site), this post might be a good fit also for the A's "Wheel of Relocation" thread. However, I decided ultimately that all of this information is unique enough and complex enough to deserve its own thread.
  3. I will be starting an expansion franchise in NHL21 naming a team in Wisconsin or Milwaukee as the location looking for everyone’s opinion on team name and colors. first thought was Milwaukee Muskies(state fish) with Tulane type colors love to hear all of your thoughts, thanks in advance!
  4. The Alaska Amaroks would be an NHL expansion team, based in Anchorage, Alaska. Since the Sullivan Center is not big enough to host NHL games, a new arena would need to be constructed. The team would draw support from all around the state of Alaska (market size of about 750,000), as well as the Canadian province of Yukon. They would play in the Western Conference. The franchise would be the only Big 4 (American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey) sports team in Alaska. An Amarok is a giant wolf in Inuit (Native peoples of Alaska and the North American Arctic) mythology. Main Logo: Wordmark: Uniforms: The pattern on the wordmark and the uniforms is based on an Inuit art theme, and also represents the mountains in Alaska. The uniforms all feature the Big Dipper, which is depicted on Alaska's state flag. C&C Welcome and Appreciated.
  5. Well, it's been a long time since I've posted a logo concept on here. Now, I have a semester-long project in my project management class and I chose to put an NBA expansion team in Pittsburgh. The name I chose is the Pittsburgh Peregrines; named after the fastest flying animal on the planet. I am not the best at drawing, so I traced over the picture of the peregrine you will see below. I know right now it looks more like an illustration than a logo, and that's what I need your help with. What can I do to make it look more like Boston College's Eagle or UTSA's Roadrunner? Any help would be appreciated. I will also be posting other alternate logos and uniforms eventually. C&C much appreciated!
  6. This is my first time doing this sort of thing because I don't have a professional art program nor the fact that I can draw either which doesn't help but I happen to like the Madden Expansion Team and hopefully they'll add more locations and uniforms and team names.... oh wait this is EA, nothing will change at all. So the first team I intend to show off is an old favorite of mine over the years, the London Monarchs aka the Royal Gold and Blues... the old school team that may become an actual team someday within the next few years... here's the Home and Away uniforms for said Monarchs plus the Third/Alternate ((No more Color Rush)) variant of said uniform Keeping the helmets as safe can be, the uniforms are combination of Metallic Gold, Royal Blue and Red with White showing off the Away Uniform.. if anything, the third uniform is something I'm proud off because it can be used on the road on certain games or if they're paired up against the Saints or the 49ers. They would have their Home games at the new Northumberland stadium and whilst in America, they use the Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia as their temporary ground against those that can't adjust to the time difference. Feedback is welcome, I intend to update with the next team...El Diablos of Mexico City
  7. So it seems that it's all but official that the NHL is coming to Seattle. I came up with a couple of ideas for how I would like to see them take the ice. The first is the Seattle Totems and the second is the Seattle Kraken. I decided to use the t-bird totem to link to current junior team since they are not considering Thunderbirds as a name, and I went subtle on the Kraken as opposed to going full on octopus for them. Hope you all like them.
  8. Hey everyone, so recently there was a competition held by the youtube channel Post2Post and the challenge was to create logos for a new NHL expansion team from a somewhat reasonable expansion location. I chose Saskatoon as my location but the team will be named Saskatchewan to try and gain fans from across the area much like the Roughriders. The team is called the Whitetails for the animal of Saskatchewan and the team colors are kelly and forest green with white. With the colors of the Roughriders, University of Saskatchewan, and the Provence of Saskatchewan all having green I decided to use it, along with the fact no team in north american pro sports uses 2 shades of green as their colors so it'd be unique, not another black and red or red white and blue team. The Whitetails main logo is a fierce deer head facing forward to a bright future. There are also two secondary logos, one is the same deer head but with a 'S' in the left side for Saskatchewan, this would be used on the breezers and merchandise mainly. The second is a circle with a 'S' sticking out the top slightly and wheat to its sides, this logo is a modernization of an old Saskatchewan Roughriders logo. Wheat is a big part of this teams identity and it is seen on one logo, the team word mark, and their third jersey. This submission got second place in the competition, let me know what you think!
  9. So I made this chart to show the expansion/logo changes of MLB teams since 1901. I know something similar to this has probably been done before. I figured I'll print this out on 2'X3' paper for myself and hang it on the wall. Just thought I'd share! If y'all have some sort of C&C let me know. I'm going to be making some other ones (different leagues, maybe cities?) over the Summer. (I know creations are typically under the Concept section but this just didn't fit.)
  10. Hello everyone, It's been a while since I've last posted on this site. Glad to stop by and see some new people posting! This is one of the first concepts of done in quite some time and I figured I'd add it to the forum. This was my senior project for my Graphic Design major. The last graphic design class in my college career! In short, we had the whole semester (a little more as we started at the end of last semester) to work on a brand. There were 14 students in the course and we all picked something to brand. Some picked fast food (You can see some of her work on my Behance project page), check the game program), some picked guitar stores, puppy adoption, Positive news stations, but knowing me, I had to do a hockey team. Full project on Behance, feel free to check it out on there or just see some of the images here! Link: https://www.behance.net/gallery/51875739/Houston-Bulls-NHL-Expansion-Team
