  1. I think my concept here better suits the German national team but I still like the look of it lol. The double stroked Flames logo and the three variations of it drive me a little crazy so I went with a simple, sleeker approach with the whole concept. The bigger story here however is the mockup. I found this free template online by one Sean FF and it was in a pretty rough shape. So I completely overhauled it, adding smart objects, more options, shading and lighting, cc, but most importantly cleaning up the edges. She still isn't the best Ps mockup in the world but she can get the job done. I offer this updated version for free to you all and would love to see you guys come up with. Thanks and Thank you Sean FF for your template! Download Link;
  2. After finishing my Oilers concept, I wondered if I could make a decent jersey for their rivals, the Flames that still included black in their colour scheme, as I like their logo better with it. I went in the same direction as my Oilers concept with two stripes, and then added black stripes around and in between them. I think that it turned out pretty well. The numbers are triple outlined to match the logos on the jerseys, and I brought back their alternate logo from last year. Lastly, I wasn't sure on whether to do a full-length yoke as a throwback to these jerseys, and I'd like to hear what you guys think. C&C is appreciated!
  3. I am working on an athletic logo and branding for my high school alma mater. The school asked me to come up with a new logo (or logos) for the sports teams; in the past they have used the school's academic logo for the sports teams. It has an odd gradient, so it is really difficult to reproduce on clothing (and the students don't like it so they tend to not wear any school gear). The school has always been blue and white, but the principal and athletic director want to add orange as a new color. Their mascot is the flames, and their initials are SCS (or just SC), so I am trying to work an SC(S) into a flame design. Now I would like some feedback. Which of these options does the best to make both the flame and the SC most recognizable (or is the entire idea not working)? Please note: These are still somewhat rough; I skewed and rotated them. After I pick a final design, I will go back through and rework some curves, reapply the outlines, and add the sharper outlines on the top and bottom of the flame like what is shown in #3. So please don't base your opinion of which logo is best to which one is currently cleanest; please let me know which one has the shape that best shows a flame and an SC concurrently. I know the differences are subtle, so I also made a gif that helps see the differences. I also wanted to come up with an idea that was a bit more adventurous and stretched the idea of the name Flames. I proposed working on a phoenix-bursting-into-flames logo, and somewhat surprisingly to me, the AD and principal both liked the idea. I think I am almost finished with it and thought I would share it here. I'd be happy for C&C on it as well.
  4. I figured I would make this into one thread so here it goes... I love the AHL as much as I do the NHL so here are some defunct AHL teams of the past I created. Hamilton Canucks (1992-1994) Saint John Flames (1993-2003) Washington Lions (1941-1943/1947-1949) (For more info on the Washington Lions check here)... More AHL teams of the past to come soon... Comments and critique wanted.
  5. One of my may AHL teams of the past logos I will be posting. Here's the Saint John Flames logo form the early to mid 90's. Originally used as there primary shoulder patch logo I always thought it would be a great primary logo in the front of the jersey. I wanted to update this so here it is.
  6. Hi, everybody! It's been quite awhile since I posted something concept-wise. The last time I did so, the boards were going through a transition period of new mods being implemented and younger/inexperienced members running amok, causing chaos on the thread I posted. I became discouraged, thinking the CCSLC was doomed to fail. The quality of work around here has suffered and there are too many inexperienced members not properly taking C&C, or, taking the wrong C&C from the wrong people. But, I digress... Anyway, I've been working on a very simple hockey template that I could use for myself (the helmet, pants, and socks, I've taken from various places here in the templates section, so credit to the artist(s) that created those). The jersey was the part I hand drew and then uploaded to my computer and traced, so I would like come comments on that if you feel so inclined. I struggled with the proportions and ratios a bit, but I feel like I've found a comfortable median. The uniforms are designed to have thinner sleeves and more be more formfitting, as I initially wanted to create an entire series dedicated to coming up with a new manufacturer of jerseys (other than Reebok, CCM, Starter, Nike, etc., etc.) and redesign the NHL according to that. I may get to that at a later date, but for now, I'd just like some feedback on what I have. Calgary Flames Logo: The Flames have a very good logo currently. Very good, but not great. Besides being muddled with unnecessary black and having one too many outlines, it is a crisp and clean logo that is very recognizable. I took the liberty of cleaning up the logo some, giving it a better sense of speed and direction, while still maintaining it's original form. The flames on the 'C' always bugged me because in the middle there are two flames that come together in opposite directions forming an awkward area of background amidst the foreground that is the logo. The 'C' itself has always looked weird to me too. The negative space on the inside looks like a kidney bean; it just doesn't flow well enough. I've also designed an alternate logo (yes a roundel!), using the Flames' current alternate as inspiration. If you click the links below, you can see larger images of the logos I've designed for the Calgary Flames. Primary (white background) || Primary (red background) || Alternate Uniforms: As we all know and can (hopefully) agree on, the Calgary Flames have some of the worst uniforms in the NHL. I, for one, love the color scheme of red, yellow, and white. The addition of black, in my opinion, isn't necessary. I've actually tried many times and in many different ways to implement it in this concept to prove myself wrong, but I can't. What really strikes a nerve with me is that the flames use a black 'C' on their primary uniforms, it's really unappealing. So, I thought to just eliminate the black completely and go back to the red, yellow, white color scheme that the club started with. I did darken the colors a bit (I remember the Blues playing the Flames a couple years ago in their throwback jerseys and I thought that the shades of red and yellow were far too bright). The jerseys are really a combination of the first couple of eras: the colors of the first and the differentiated stripe widths of the second. The second era of Flames uniforms (1995-2000) were actually pretty good, sans that ridiculous diagonal stripe. The black was tolerable there, but, to me, not needed. I came up with a concept that combines and modernizes the inaugural and '95 look, getting rid of some unnecessary components. As I've stated with the explanation of the logo, I wanted the concept to evoke the idea of speed, so I kept the idea of the italicized numbers, changing the font to a more modern one. The alternate is pretty straightforward when I tell you that I love it when teams use one color and white in their identity (i.e. Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Jets [NFL], Colts [NFL], etc.). Thanks to those that took the time to read everything and hopefully I won't run into any problems with immature members like I did last time. So without further ado, here's the concept! Tell me what ya think! (Click to enlarge)

  8. Hey Guys! Im sure this has been done but here is my take on concept home an away jerseys for the Calgary Flames. I love simplicity, less is more. Hope you guys like this one! C&C Welcome!
  9. So I really haven't been in the designing mood lately but I saw that Glens Falls got their AHL team back - again - and this time will be the farm team for Calgary. They brought back the Atlanta Flames logo which is freaking awesome except for the fact that they added a black outline and the script "ADIRONDACK" below it. Whether that will be on the jersey or not, I quickly whipped up an Atlanta Flames throwback look as Adirondack's Home and Away's. Pretty much everything is the same as the Atlanta jersey, just using the Old Gold from Adirondack. Note that the striping is slightly different from the Calgary Throwback jersey. So nothing quite original here, just a way to show what they should look like and an excuse to get myself into making Hockey material again. I also tested out a new technique... so far it's making these designs take 2 times as long to finish. But who knows, if all goes well I might redesign all of the AHL
  10. I had started this a while ago but never really completed it. But after seeing HJC's Flames concept and a few posts in the 2014-15 NHL changes thread, I decided to finish up my concept. Based on the pedestal jerseys of the 90's and the pre-EDGE black jersey alternate (which is the Drummondville template).
  11. As I figure most of us know, the Flames unveiled a new third jersey so okay it's average. The sunset/mountains/wheat patch, I love. The odd looking 5, yeh it looks weird. The yoke looking like a stereotypical cowboy's shirt, it's alright. The script is decent, but looking at those rejected ideas Icethetics got a shot of, it seems like a missed opportunity. As Mills Lane would say though, let's get it on. Main The simplified burning C caught my eye, and I wanted to see what it'd look like on a uniform. As I like their current number font, I thought it'd be a waste to not use it, though the red jersey uses gold numbers rather than black. I normally don't bother with helmets as far as hockey concepts go, even though I should, but I'm imagining red helmets here. Third Sue me, I liked the boot. Granted, the CALGARY is admittedly a bit messy, but the boot was simple enough to trace. Figured to differentiate this from the main reds, there'd be no black outlining, different pants shell, and obviously different striping. The horseshoe number was the final touch I'd wanted to add, but then came the problem of striping. Some of you may recall how I occasionally bitch about one of my older concepts, a Drummondville Voltigeurs set whose third jersey was said to look like "every other hockey jersey ever," as that was not a compliment, to put it mildly. The striping I went with is based on what I'd used for the Voltigeurs home/away, except the inner stripes on that version were vertical, here they're at a slight angle, somewhat mimicking the "podium stripe" of the late Fleury era. I'm thinking of making at least one more set here, though other than intending to use the regular C if I do so, I make no promises.
  12. Hello everyone. This is my first post on here so be gentle.... So this year my high school lacrosse team is changing everything up. I designed the helmet graphics that were ordering, and now they want me to make the new logo. I came up with this sketch and im just looking for any feedback you guys might have. Also, some help with how to color the logo. Our colors are red yellow and white and our mascot is the flames. Here is the link to the sketch: Thanks guys.
