  1. Hello everyone My friend back home recently found out that he lost his team the San Diego Chargers. Like most fans he is devastated and has no wish to follow the team if they do not play in San Diego. However he loves football (soccer) so thought I would create a concept for a team based around the recent rumors of San Diego looking into MLS. I have a contact in China who can make any football jersey designs I design so my plan is to make a kit as If it were me designing for a real team coming to San Diego. My idea for the crest is based on the seal of the city of San Diego, as I loved the way the pillars looked and had an Idea how they could be used to fuse that crest and the pillars together. They seemed similar to the pillars used by the Spanish national team's royal crest so felt like it was a good Idea to follow. As for the crest Itself I wanted to go for a US navy theme given San Diego history with the US navy. I also wanted to keep it as simple as possible as less is better in football (soccer) usually. My question to the community is what are your thoughts? I need your opinions on any changes that need to be made etc. The jersey itself will be charger powder blue with yellow and white so that San Diego keeps that colour scheme. Don't forget I'm relatively amateur, I'm using inkscape and have taught myself up to this point. I plan to go to school and I'm utilizing skilshare but this is a project I need to have done before I go home on vacation to England so I can give him the jersey. Any tips, criticism, etc will be welcome. If anyone is interested in this project I will post updates with the completed jersey etc. Thanks for taking the time to read etc.
  2. I went back to my old Sabre-Tooth Post and decided to re-work it with fresh (more experienced) eyes. I see this working best as a hockey logo. My color choice is the icy blue, but I dropped a Preds scheme in too, Let me know what you think. Added on 11/29/16: Added on 12/1/16:

  4. So I saw someone point out today that the LA Chargers logo that made its rounds today is very sloppy and the alignment on it is atrocious. So in an attempt to fix that I got carried away and ended up just making something a lot better out of it. Enjoy
  5. As I'm sure most of you know, the Washington Redskins wore 1960s-style fauxback uniforms in 2002 for all of their home games except for Dallas (forcing them to wear blue). Does anyone know why/how the NFL allowed the team to have a full-time alternate for one year? Does that even fit within the NFL's parameters for this sort of thing? A couple other notes: -The below photo shows the team wearing their normal white-topped striped socks rather than what they ended up using. -Snyder's claim they might go back to wearing them full time is fascinating and something I never knew was considered. Here's part of a story from Scout.com about the changes: The Redskins will wear their new uniforms for this season only, though owner Daniel Snyder did not rule out making a permanent change after this year. Washington Redskins' Rod Gardner (87) and Fred Smoot (21) wear the new home-field uniform for the 2002 season during a news conference in Ashburn, Va., Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002. The Redskins have adopted a new uniform for their 70th anniversary season, shedding the image of a stern Indian face from the side of their helmets. The revamped uniforms, which will only be worn at home games, include burgundy helmets that feature a logo with a spear and feathers, according to the team. (AP Photo/Stephen J. Boitano) Washington will wear gold pants with burgundy and white stripes and a dark burgundy top. The Redskins' helmets will be dark burgundy with a spear and feather dangling off it. But they'll only wear the uniforms for home games--it's back to the more recent jerseys on the road. However, Spurrier said the Redskins would wear white tops at home against Dallas, forcing the Cowboys to wear their less-favored dark uniforms. And Snyder was adamant that this move had nothing to do with any pressure by local civic groups to change the name. ''None whatsoever,'' Snyder said. ''We won't be changing the name for 100-years plus.'' The change is designed to commemorate the franchise's 70th anniversary. It also will boost sales of jerseys--the Redskins lag in the middle of the NFL sales for such items.
  6. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2016/07/28/when-is-the-college-football-playoff-date-change-bill-hancock-new-years-eve/87644010/ After intense opposition and declining television ratings, the College Football Playoff has discontinued its attempt to create a new tradition on New Year’s Eve. Playoff executive director Bill Hancock told USA TODAY Sports the event’s management committee has decided to change the dates of the Playoff semifinals In four of seven years when those games were scheduled for Dec. 31. They now will instead be played on the preceding Saturday. The other three years, New Year’s Day falls on Saturday or is designated a Federal holiday.
  7. After seeing a fruitful discussion about a Washington Redskins throwback uniform from 2002-2003, I decided to make my first uniform concept since 2013. These aren't anything groundbreaking, but they represent the latest of what I would want to see my NFL team do with their uniforms. C&C appreciated.
  8. Hey guys, Wanted to take a shot at a new project...this is my first attempt working with Illustrator rather than Inkscape. I'm using my own template (which has been slightly streamlined). I envisioned a new look for the Falcons, whose current uniform has been stale for about a decade. This new set would coincide with the new stadium and is more of a throwback look. The overall look harkens back to the beautiful throwbacks from 1966 with the addition of sleeve stripes. I felt conflicted because I love the Northwestern style stripes they've worn before...I also love the gray pants with the red, white, and black stripe (same as the Super Bowl 1998 team's pants)...but mixing those with the helmet and you have a complete hodgepodge of striping patterns. So I've started from the helmet and the throwback pants stripe and expanding into a simple and consistent stripe across all elements. I have designed a custom number font. It's somewhat based off of the wordmark font and tweaked but I think it's still rather simple. I have also included an "Inaugural Season" patch on the black jersey, which I'd imagine they would wear for the very first game at the new stadium. Here's the rest of the number set:
  9. With the approaching of football season, it's time to see what needless accessories players equip on themselves and on their helmets. One accessory that is very popular, especially among young players, is the visor: IMO, visors are basically used by today's players just to look cool. So what are your thoughts on visors, are they annoying, or do you agree with the young players that say they are cool?

  12. Hello all! I've been a pretty busy commentator here on the boards, but I've never done an actual concept series. I started one, but I was ill prepared to continue it. Now here I am with a concept series that we've kind of seen before. Much like the Bowl Game Wallpapers from Forbes, here is an NFL Playoff series of wallpapers starting wiht the AFC and NFC Wildcard Rounds. The concept is pretty simple, helmets facing each other, on a colored background of the team colors. The goal was to use three team colors if possible, but with the Packers and Giants and such, I had to use only two. C&C much appreciated as always, let's go ahead and get to it.
  13. College football has always been one of my passions. The jerseys and uniform history is one of the primary reasons. Each school has their own unique identity, whether it be school colors, rivalries, or traditions. My redesign series is to take these identities and manifest them in a different concept jersey for each school. Tradition and identity is the driving factor behind everything that I design, and this series will be no different. So, get the meat on the grill, pour yourself a cold one and put on some drumline music, and enjoy my college football redesign series! Designed Schools Ohio State Hawaii Oregon Army West Point

  15. Inspired by a couple of the Marve/NFL helmets & uniform concepts, here are my versions of DC NFL Football helmets. I used the Riddell Speedflex by Darth Brooks. The logos were various ones found on the internet. The wallpaper backgrounds are mine (lol). Hope you guys like these. Any C&C is welcome. 16. i came up with this concept when i was thinking about what would creighton look like if they had a football team so without further ado the Creighton bluejays
  17. I read in a topic some while back the idea of making football uniforms for schools that don't have a football team. I like this concept, and I would like to leave this as an open forum for people to post up their ideas/concepts. My Masters degree is from Webster University in St. Louis. I have one of those t-shirts that says "Webster Football" and "Still Undefeated!" on the back I tooled around with some concepts and combinations.
  18. Here goes for my concept debut. For those who don't know, USA Today has tracked the top 25 high school football teams in the nation for a little more than 30 years. Because there are already so many Pro and NCAA helmets out there, I thought it would be interesting to start my work out on an area left fairly untouched. While creating the templates, I've realized that HS Football has changed dramatically since I played: private academies and charter schools are concentrating talent, with private schools in particular spending significant money on athletic programs. Half of the schools wore multiple helmets last season (40 helmets across 25 schools, to be exact). A few quick shout-outs to: - Darth Brooks: for his initial pass at a Riddell Speedflex template and willingness to coach on design and the craft of building a template. While my template is self-made, I did use his template as a separate benchmark to understand how to build templates. - bkknight95: for how he packaged and rolled out his NFL 2020 work. I thought it was a creative means to roll-out design, so I've borrowed from the format. - Fraser Davidson: the godfather of concept helmets. On to the work ... I will post five(ish) schools a day, beginning with the 25th ranked school. C&C welcome.
  19. Well All, I am having fun working the templates in Paint and PowerPoint. They are no where near professional, so I will call them "Drafts." But I will be posting up schools as I progress with my justification/descriptions.
  20. Hey everyone. Fantasy football drafts are starting soon. My first one is next Tuesday and I get some extra study time since I'm laid up at home recovering from an emergency room visit this weekend. What're everyone strategies? Targets? Team names?
  21. Alright Gang, This is my first stab at making a concept. I used a simple template that I could easily manipulate in Paint. I plan on making one of these for each of the Army Branches. With a detailed explanation as to their design. Feedback is encouraged!
  22. In these late weeks I've been working on a new concept for a football team based in my home city, Torino, in Italy. While working I've decided to start a concept about the whole Italian Football League. There will be renaming of teams and expansion of the league. I will be working on the teams but not on the overall league identity, also if a new logo is needed, as, maybe, it could be work for another moment. Just to compare, I will post how the league is now and how it should be in my opinion. The teams in order from the left are: Milano Seamen Bolzano Giants Bergamo Lions Milano Rhinos Giaguari (jaguars) Torino Parma Panthers Roma Grizzlies Aquile (eagles) Ferrara Ancona Dolphins Briganti (brigands) Napoli Bologna Warriors Lazio Marines So, I've expanded the league from the actual 12 members to 26 and I've changed the identity of almost every team (just the Elephants, Guelphs, Saints and Spartans are real existing teams, but not in the IFL). I've totally changed every name in English as it was a nonsense to have some in Italian and some others in English , of course keeping the italian city name. I've decided to skip also very nice uniforms, like Milano Rhinos ones, just because their identities were all wrong. To me a name has to make sense with the history and the tradition of a city, not just be cool. So it will be really important to explain you why I chose certain colors and logos. Critic will be very, very welcome!
  23. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/11/29/colombian-plane-crash-on-way-to-medellin/94585124/ Colombian authorities say 76 people including members of a Brazilian soccer team were killed in a plane crash Monday night in northwestern Colombia. Six people initially survived the crash, but one of them died a short time later, authorities said. The charter aircraft took off from Bolivia and was flying over the town of La Union at around 10 p.m. when electrical flaws were reported, according to a statement from the José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, Colombia. The plane crashed shortly after in a mountainous area in the Antioquian municipality, about 22 miles from the airport, which serves the city of Medellin. There were 72 passengers and nine crewmembers on board, including members of Chapecoense, a Brazilian first division soccer team. The team was expected to play in the Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday in Medellin.
  24. Hey guys, so this is officially my first thread on this website (so don't mine the errors)! For my first thread I decided to start a topic about football helmets. I believe there was a thread about this a while back aswell. I know it sounds kinda lame, but i've always been intrigued by the football players helmet and/or face masks. So i guess ill start off. I've always been a fan of Dennis Dixon's Helmet and Facemask when he played for the Ducks. Mike Vicks helmet as a rookie on the Falcons was also pretty amazing. And lastly, DJ Shockley's helmet as a Dawg. Hope to see some replies and to keep this thread going!
  25. After Jordan went on to sponsor Michigan Football, I thought that Lebron would be a good sponsor for Ohio State. I went on to create new uniforms that are modern yet still have the classic Ohio State look.
