  1. Recently, I decided to try out fantasy football for the first time. I also love making logos for anything. So these 2 things clashed and out came a couple of fantasy team logos. These aren't meant for a serious kind of fantasy football as some people like to do. They are kind of just for fun and to have a cool logo to go with the name, instead of the built in logos with some fantasy sports sites. So far, I've only made 3 (2 for the same team name) but I might end up making more. Maybe I'll even take requests, though I don't have much time to make them. So without further ado, here they are. I made logos for 2 teams: Legion of Boom and RG-3PO.
  2. Never been a fan of the Seattle Sounders badge - been mulling over ideas for the last few months, finally tried it out, fairly happy with the outcome but C/C always welcome. some of the wordmark looks a little clunky, but it's a draft so maybe just ignore that for now, I'm aware. Thanks guys!

  4. I'm glad to present you my own version of the National Basketball League of New Zealand! I will redesign unis and some logos trying to stick with their current color scheme. Here you have the teams: Canterbury Rams (Christchurch) Hawke's Bay Hawks (Napier) Nelson Giants Southland Sharks (Invercargill) Super City Rangers (Auckland Bay Area) Taranaki MountainAirs (New Plymouth) Wellington Saints Past teams Waikato Pistons (Hamilton) Otago Nuggets (Dunedin) Manawatu Jets (Palmerston North)
  5. Pretty self-explanatory; I really like how Major League Soccer and Baseball have their league logo in team colors for each club. I never understood why the NHL didn't do this. I simplified the league shield a bit, removing the outermost outline and got rid of the gradients, which looked okay but I never really cared for. I am open to changing colors, and maybe adding the outline back; it just seemed superfluous at the time. I also edited some team colors, such as Buffalo, LA, San Jose, and Tampa. C&C appreciated!
  6. These concepts are for an upcoming fantasy football league, as always created using MS Paint. C&C is welcomed. The first team is the Mutineers. Primary Secondary Uniforms Let me know what you think!
  7. Monday, May 6, 1878 – Chicago, Illinois In 1878 the sporting goods equipment and retail business of Albert Spalding was thriving. As his wealth began to grow due to the business of sport, Spalding looked for every opportunity he could to foster the love of athletics in every American. Baseball was and remained his first love but his motive to diversify the love of sport caused him to look for other games he might elevate in stature. One game he found was the Swiss game of Hornussen. Spalding found the game fascinating and he felt that if he could get Americans to love the game as well it was one that would require its practitioners to purchase equipment; equipment he could sale to them. Thus Spalding resolved to organize a professional Hornussen league in the United States. He called the league the Professional Hornussen Players League (PHPL). He decided he would serve as the league’s first commissioner and he would sale four franchises. The charter of the league that he wrote stated that franchise owners would be fully proprietary, maintaining near complete control of their clubs. The first franchise he sold was to his friend William Hulbert. Hulbert was the owner of the baseball Chicago White Stockings. He wanted to name his Hornussen club the White Stockings as well but Spalding did not like this. He wanted his league to be distinct from any baseball league. Spalding suggested the name Pioneers to Hulbert and that stuck. Spalding remembered the name from the Rockford Pioneers, the first baseball team he ever played for. So William Hulbert’s team will play in Chicago and they will be called the Chicago Pioneers. The second franchise was sold to Morgan Bulkeley. Bulkeley was brought into the league by the suggestion of William Hulbert. He, along with Spalding and Hulbert, was a long time and early organizer of baseball. Bulkeley decided he would place his team in his hometown of Hartford, Connecticut. Outside of sports Bulkeley was interested in politics. As the league was organizing he was beginning to lay the foundation for his political career. Like many northerners at this time he was an avid fan of Abraham Lincoln and the 16th Presidents party the Republicans. In tribute to Lincoln, Bulkeley named his team the Hartford Republicans. The third franchise sold was purchased by Bob “Death to Flying Things” Ferguson. Ferguson was a player/manager in baseball and had worked for Morgan Bulkeley previously. He had also worked as a league director in the original National League. After purchasing his own team, Bulkeley talked Ferguson into picking up the third franchise in the league. Although Ferguson was very busy traveling with Chicago White Stockings at the time, he decided to place his team in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. For a nickname he decided to dub his club the Brooklyn Swats. The name served as both an homage to his nickname as well as serving as a fitting name for a team in a sport where players attempt to swat a flying flute out of the sky. Finally Albert Spalding sold the fourth franchise. He got sports journalist Henry Chadwick to take ownership of the franchise. Chadwick decided to place the team New York City and call the club the New York Clippers. He gained inspiration for the name from the magazine that he was working for at the time, The New York Clipper.
  8. Had this concept completed for a while but never added color to it until now due to other concepts I got into. Here's a Whaler to represent the Hartford Whalers. Please don't compare him to the Islanders Fisherman logo (which I happened to love by the way) Also look for the upside down whale tail in the logo on his hat as a nod to the original logo. What do you all think? Comments and critique wanted.
  9. I'm sure we all have those logos that we designed quite a while ago, and they aren't really our best work. I counted over the weekend, and I have over 200 old soccer logos none of which I would ever include in a portfolio. So over the summer, I will be redesigning some of my older logos. Many of these will have totally new identities. But I'm not stopping there. I'm willing to open this up to anyone who is interested. All you have to do is message me or email me at gswanseadesign@gmail.com, and I can send you all of the specific templates to present the old and redesigned logos in the same format I do. With one exception. You can use any jersey template you want. I hope other people are interested in this, but if not I will just present my logos. Should be fun.
  10. So with my latest project, I've decided to redesign the MJHL (Manitoba Junior Hockey League) For those who don't know, which will be most, the MJHL is a Junior A league in Canada apart of the CJHL for 16-20 year olds. My hometown team, the Steinbach Pistons, are apart of the league. I've been to many games, and have gotten to watch and see what kind of logos and uniforms these teams put on the ice. Some are great, classic and classy, and some are just plain ugly. This is why I've decided to redesign this league. I will post the complete redesign of each team, as well as the current logo, just to provide some background information, for the 95% of people who haven't heard of this league. I've seen a couple redesign on here, but not many. I have finished all the logos, but not the uniform set. So I will be releasing them one by one. This is probably the best option especially since there's only 11 teams in the league. I hope you enjoy this short series! On to the first team, my hometown team, the Steinbach Pistons. In my opinion, they already had one of the best logos in the league, but it was too realistic. Their current logo makes it hard to put on any merchandise like shirts and hats, because of the level of detail on the pistons. So my goal was to simplify the logo. Current logo: Redesign
  11. As I'm a big rugby fan, I'll be presenting you my own version of the English First Utility Super League, a rugby league tournament with teams from Northen England and Southern France. Here below there is a short explanation of what rugby league is, if you already know it you can skip it Rugby league is a quite popular game in Northen England, Southwest France, Australia and New Zealand, it is slightly different from Rugby Union as in a game there are 13 players instead of 15. It was originated in Northen England in 1895 as a split of rugby union for problems over the issue of the payment of players. Nowadays it is a quite different sport from rugby union because of the smaller number of players and peculiar rules which resulting in a faster game with less rucks. You can check the current teams' logos here (some of them are a bit out of date) Here you have my attempt with a new league logo.
  12. I have designed a few t-shirts for upcoming events in my area. My focus is on profit margins. For example, I know Cotton Bureau creates high-quality final products, but it seems like actual money-making is slim-to-none unless you knock it out of the park on a design and get tons of buys. Teepublic was my go-to and has a great rate of $4 per sale, but only prints on the front side of shirts... are there any other go-to t-shirt printing sites?
  13. This has been a long time in the making and when I started this project there hadn't been an NFL redo on here for a while, so I thought what the heck, I'll give this a shot after I went back and took a look at some of my previous NFL concepts and saw how boring and honestly sloppy most of them were. With this concept I challenged myself to think outside the box and go farther that either throwing back to a previous look or just a simple uniform recolor. The most challenging part of this project was working with the handful of team logos that I completely redesigned. I also did some color changes and updates as well. With the logos, I was going for something that was bold, instantly recognizable and captured the essence of the team well. The Logos: Click for Full Size The Uniforms: The uniforms will be presented one at a time in alphabetical order every other day or so. I created my own jersey and pant template. I also tweaked the template as needed to fit the design of any one particular team. I did not want the design of the uniform to be hindered by the template. Each team will be presented in what I have designated as their primary home and away uniforms. I opted to go without alternates because I believe that if each uniform is going to be worn a maximum of 8 times throughout the season, it should be your best look that doesn't need to "supplemented" by a third jersey or multiple helmets. Okay, well thanks for taking a look at this and I would love to hear what you think about the new logos. The Arizona Cardinals' uniforms will be up tomorrow and feel free to offer any C&C because I would love to hear what everyone thinks but I can't promise I will change anything before every team is out there. Thanks a lot for taking the time to take a look. I really appreciate it.
  14. The supporters group for Reno 1868 FC is looking for a new logo. These concepts are my entries into their logo contest.

    NFL rebrand

I've decided to go through all the NFL teams that need an overhaul. I've started with my favorite team, the Arizona Cardinals. While they sport some of the ugliest uniforms in the NFL, they have been most successful in these duds so in keeping the same color scheme. They have had a Cardinal head in profile as their logo since their St Louis days, so I'm keeping that relatively the same as well.
  16. Welp, since we're starting to hear rumors of the Clippers' new logo, potential new Bucks logo, etc., etc. I figure it's time to give its' own space.
  17. I've seen several posts where people have mentioned mocking up various concepts in the NBA2K series of games. I don't own a gaming system more advanced than a Wii, and I don't typically have much time for video games anyway. From what I understand you can create your own teams, and you have a lot of latitude in designing them. Can you also create your own league from these teams? Just curious. Also, I wish Madden would bring that back. Remember the PC Madden games where you could design your own helmet in Paint and import it into the game? I had some really sweet ones for Madden 04. lol
  18. I made some toddlers' parody hockey logos for the remaining NHL playoff teams and would like positive and negative design critiques on them. Anaheim Rubber Pucks, Dallas Kid Sheriffs, San Jose Puck Fins, PiToTsburgh PiToTs, New York IslandToTs, Tampa Bay ToT-Bolts, Washington Castles, St. Louis Blue Notes. Thank you for your time.
  19. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-15/nba-owners-said-to-approve-ad-patches-on-jerseys-for-first-time National Basketball Association owners approved advertising on uniform jerseys for the first time in league history, according to people with direct knowledge of the decision. The ads, in the form of 2.5-by-2.5-inch patches, will debut in the 2017-18 season, which coincides with Nike replacing Adidas as the league’s official uniform supplier.
  20. Hey all, I got this idea a while back for a new sport to play (well, modified from an existing sport at least) and I thought it could be fun (plus good design -practice) to take it and build a league concept around it, so here we go! The sport is called Reflex. It is a modified form of Tchoukball (click the link to see a highlight reel), where teams score points by throwing a ball against a rebound net and having it hit the ground before the defense can catch it. The sport has elements primarily of ultimate and handball. Games are played on a hardwood court with walls around it the size of a standard hockey rink. Some major rules are: * 6 Players on the court for each team. * Player with the ball cannot take more than two steps. * Player with the ball cannot hold onto it more than 5 seconds. * Either team can score off either rebound net when ball is in their possession, but must complete a minimum of three passes before a shot is attempted. * If the offense drops the ball, steps in or has the ball land in the red zone, commits a penalty, or allows the defense to intercept the ball in they lose possession. * If the defense catches the ball off the rebound net, no points are awarded to the offense and the defense gains possession. * Contact is not allowed, and the defense cannot enter the forbidden zone. Major defensive penalties result in a penalty shot for the offense. Minor penalties result in a player spending 1 minute in the penalty box. * Hockey-style substitutions. Scoring: * 1 Point - Ball rebounds off net and hits ground in 1-Point Zone * 2 Points - Ball rebounds off net and hits ground in 2-Point Zone * 3 Points - Ball rebounds off net and hits ground beyond the 2-Point Zone * Reflex - After the offensive player bounces the ball off the rebound net, a teammate catches the ball and immediately throws it off the rebound net again, after which is hits the ground in one of the scoring areas. Worth 3 Points + Points corresponding to where the ball hits the ground (so if 2nd throw bounces and lands in the 2-point zone its worth a total of 5 points). Team locations (will be a 20 team league), names and logos will be unveiled in the coming days, but here is a diagram of the playing surface for the United Reflex League. A larger version of the league logo will be posted next. C&C is appreciated, enjoy! These teams are posted so far (in order of post date): Austin, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Omaha, Grand Rapids, New Orleans, Albuquerque, San Jose, Columbus, Orlando, San Diego, Denver, Chicago, Charlotte, Oklahoma, Utah, Hartford, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland I'm also going to add secondary logos and uniforms to the posts linked to above as they are made for easy locating, in addition to their own dedicated posts.
  21. I figured I would make this into one thread so here it goes... I love the AHL as much as I do the NHL so here are some defunct AHL teams of the past I created. Hamilton Canucks (1992-1994) Saint John Flames (1993-2003) Washington Lions (1941-1943/1947-1949) (For more info on the Washington Lions check here)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Lions More AHL teams of the past to come soon... Comments and critique wanted.
  22. Would anyone be interested in putting together an NCAA-style 32- or 64-item tournament of NBA uniforms for the site to vote on? I'd be interested to see which ones advanced in certain matchups. We'd need classics like the Shaq-era Magic; "Irish Rainbow" Bucks; MJ Bulls; "Rainbow Skyline" Nuggets; Baby Blue Kings; blue-and-green Hawks (and/or Pac Man-era Hawks); 1974-81 Cavs; Mourning-era Hornets and Heat (what was it about him and good uniforms?); original Grizzlies and Raptors; 1980s and/or 1990s Pacers; and many, many more. I'd think every team could have at least one representation, especially if we did 64 sets.
  23. Just a fun idea for a women's hockey logo I had... The Salem Witches. Nothing serious here, I figured adding skates to her was a nice touch as well, what do you think? My wife wants to put this on a custom jersey for herself to wear. Used the Bruins colors so when its put on the jersey it will match. I still need to touch it up a bit but wanted to show my direction of it. Comments and critique wanted.
  24. I created this logo for fun a few weeks ago. I named this team after the infamous Blizzard of 1978 that hit New England where I live. I wasent born until 1983 but my family still tells the stories of what they went through when that blizzard struck. Was only going to be a little snow but little did the weather men know what a epic blizzard it would become. If you are interested in the info about the blizzard you can read about it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_Northeastern_United_States_blizzard and here's a site dedicated to it http://www.blizzardof78.org/ Im thinking about creating a snow flake logo to go with this as well. I figured a snowman would be more "out of the box" for this though. What do you all think?
  25. Apologies if this was already posted http://www2.tsn.ca/bardown/Story.aspx?Proposed%2band%2brejected%2bBuffalo%2bSabres%2blogos%2bfor%2btheir%2bmid-90s%2brebrand&id=576051
