  1. I was an employee of the Hot Rods over the summer and got the chance to make some offseason ads and graphics with their new logos before the season was over. While working with these logos, I felt the same way as a lot of you on the boards. I felt that SME really missed the boat on the overall design concept and it felt rushed in some areas. There were some logos that I felt they did a great job on and it is reflected in my design concepts, but for this project I wanted to take my experience in being a minor league baseball fan and working in minor league baseball and see what I could come up with to improve the Hot Rod's new brand. For this project a designed a few new logos to replace some of the logos I felt SME did not work well for a minor league team and also kept a few of the ones that worked well. I redesigned the whole uniform set and even added a special sunday uniform. I am starting off this project by showing the primary logo I designed which I used as a focal point that everything else is designed around. I will periodically add more from this project.
  2. MiLB is having a vote for who has the best hat in the Minor Leagues. The page keeps popping out two hats and you vote on which you think is the better of the two. Voting continues until May 22 Have fun gents (and occasional ladies) http://www.milb.com/milb/fans/caps/y2014/ If you wanna take a peek at the leaderboard here you go http://www.milb.com/milb/fans/caps/y2014/leaderboard_full.jsp
  3. Alright, so recently two teams have released new uniforms in the MiLB world. I love seeing new minor league uniforms but recently it feels as if these teams choose terrible logos/designs for their hats and they don't pair them wisely. That's why I took the liberty of doing a quick fix for the Bowling Green Hot Rods. I think all they jerseys are perfect so I just fixed the hats. What I fixed: Home: I changed the logo on the hat from Navy blue w/ Orange trim to White BG with Navy trim and orange trim Away: I simply took the hat paired with the alternate uniform and moved it to away because it fits better with the grey Alternate: I took the logo off the orange away hat and replaced it with the new hot rod and moved it to the alternate uniform BP: I put the logo from the away hat onto the BP hat.
  4. Got inspired by Studio Simon's update of the Class-A Hickory Crawdads, which is a great update by the way, and thought I would try my hand at creating the whole custom font package. I took the font from "HICKORY" and "CRAWDADS" and built numbers and the rest of the letters in the alphabet off of the features from those letters provided. Not sure how accurate the letters are, but these were just what I thought they would be with the information that was given. Kind of like a puzzle. Hope y'all enjoy it.
  5. Hi guys! Here is my latest rebrand of a Minor League Baseball team – this time it's the NY-Penn League's Hudson Valley Renegades. Their current identity was rebranded in 2013, but in my view it's one of the worst logos of the entire league. My goal was to create a raccoon that looks fierce and dauntless, like a renegade on one of these famous wanted posters. Colors are unchanged, except the darker shade of blue (Hudson blue) was dropped to simplify the color scheme a little bit. A full-bodied alternate raccoon logo might follow in the future. Modesto Nuts

I figure one thing, I should probably have gone the Lonely Alt route, because the homes and aways are admittedly not my best efforts. Not that they completely blow, I've done worse, but I know I could've done better than this. In the modified words of a critique that's stayed with me for years, this looks like every other baseball uniform ever The sad thing is this has been done for months. Female mascots on a male team's uniform are rare, but I figure the right ones can work. In this case, as a female pistachio is among the Nuts' stable of mascots, I figured a pistachio logo was worth trying. Which inspired the pistachio green vest.

    MLB-AAA Realignment

In 2015, many MLB teams changed affiliation with one another with their respective AAA teams. These changes were peculiar because the realignments forced teams to have a Triple-A team further than their previous. This should never be the case, as many roster changes on the daily happen between AAA and the MLB. It should be convenient for teams calling up or sending down a player. That way they can be there by whenever the next game is. This is my proposed realignment for 2016: Anaheim Angels - Las Vegas 51s Los Angeles Dodgers - Fresno Grizzlies San Diego Padres - El Paso Chihuahuas (no change) San Francisco Giants - Sacramento River Cats (no change) Oakland Athletics - Reno Aces Seattle Mariners - Tacoma Rainiers (no change) Arizona Diamondbacks - Albuquerque Isotopes Colorado Rockies - Salt Lake Bees Minnesota Twins - Colorado Springs Sky Sox Texas Rangers - Oklahoma City Redhawks (changing the name back after the Dodgers leave affiliation) Houston Astros - Round Rock Express Kansas City Royals - Omaha Storm Chasers (no change) St. Louis Cardinals - Memphis Redbirds (no change) Chicago Cubs - Iowa Cubs (no change) Tampa Bay Rays - New Orleans Zephyrs Cincinnati Reds - Nashville Sounds Milwaukee Brewers - Indianapolis Indians Detroit Tigers - Toledo Mud Hens (no change) Cleveland Indians - Columbus Clippers (no change) Chicago White Sox - Louisville Bats Atlanta Braves - Gwinnett Braves (no change) Miami Marlins - Charlotte Knights Washington Nationals - Durham Bulls Baltimore Orioles - Norfolk Tides (no change) New York Yankees - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (no change) New York Mets - Syracuse Chiefs Philadelphia Phillies - Lehigh Valley IronPigs (no change) Pittsburgh Pirates - Rochester Red Wings Boston Red Sox - Pawtucket Red Sox (no change) Toronto Blue Jays - Buffalo Bisons (no change) I apologize for being out of order. Comment if you have something better in mind.
  8. My world has unfortunately been very hurt. I am a Coloradoan born and raised. I grew up in the springs. And I am raised to be a Rocky. All 20 years of my life, yes I know I am still very young, the Rockies right hand man was the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Unfortunately the Rockies stabbed us Springers in the back by affiliating with the Albequerque Isotopes simply because they have a better stadium. Anyways, it got me thinking about how the Isotopes had a blue alternate uniform made that was supposed to emulate the LA Dodgers. So I threw together two ideas for hats. One for the Isotopes which is based on the Rockies and one for the Sky Sox to be based off of their new parent team, the Milwaukee Brewers. (And yes I know I left the MILB logo off the back) I will try to do ideas for other teams who have now changed affiliations.
  9. Hey everyone! I've been working on a project that wound up falling through, but that doesn't mean I can't share it. I was working with the Portland Sea Dogs in an effort to modernize the mark - I came up with a few wordmarks, icons and even a few uniform sets.
  10. Picked this up at the Clearwater Threshers stadium the other night, pretty cool limited edition cap! Throwback from when they were the Clearwater Phillies.
  11. I have noticed that there are a few interesting features in some minor league parks (of course, some are a lot more noticeable than others). Some of the ones that I have heard about so far include the Quad Cities River Bandits having a corn field in left field near the bullpen, and the South Bend Silver Hawks using a former synagogue as their team souvenir store. What are some other ones that you know of?

  13. I was lucky enough to get free tickets to a recent Richmond Flying Squirrels games vs. the Akron Aeros. The Squirrels were wearing their black jerseys (which look Okay, but I'd rather see whites) and the Aeros were ALSO wearing their black jerseys. I realise it's only AA ball but it still looks like a horrendous scrimmage when this is the teams on the field (apologies for bad phone/instagram pic) Also, the Aeros wordmark is super uninspired.
  14. A friend and I were looking at a bunch of random minor league baseball caps and found a few strange ones. I was wondering if there are any other really strange ones that are either not listed below or that I forgot about. Here are some of the ones that I found... 15. The Charlotte Knights are moving from there old ballpark on Rock Hill, South Carolina to downtown Charlotte, NC. This is my updated version of there logo with the current colors http://s1367.photobu...c0145a.jpg.html. I will be doing this in other colors.
