  1. We have players in the wrong uniform -- and teams in the wrong stadium. So, why not a teams in the wrong uniform thread? I'll start off with a few obvious ones ... (pretty much any Turn Ahead The Clock Jersey to be honest) What would you add to this list?
  2. I'm a huge fan of the NBA's Chinese New Year alternate uniforms. I think its a really cool and unique way to reach out to a different audience abroad. I knew that this year I wanted to make a Chinese New Year concept uniform for a team. I was thinking first about making one for a team with a large immigrant Chinese population, such as New York or LA. However, I started thinking about designing a uniform for the Cavs. This seemed a bit weird to me at first because Cleveland doesn't have the same connection to China any of the other teams with Chinese New Year alternates might have. However, they are the defending world champs. They have a chance to branch out to a new market in China with their recent successes. The Cav's colors also work perfectly with the red and yellow often seen around the New Year celebrations. I first wanted to design some sort of alternate logo for the uniforms. I played around with a bunch of ideas, but I settled on the logo below. "Cavaliers" is written in red simplified Mandarin script with a gold outline. The sabre that is in the "C" alternate logo is in the background, and transitions to being in front of the second character for some more contrast. It's a pretty different logo for the Cavs, but I think it works pretty well. Now, for the uniforms. I wanted to do something similar to what the rockets have done with their Chinese New Year uniforms, by keeping the template and colors pretty much the same except replacing the English script with Mandarin script. Here are the uniforms. I based my design off of the navy alternate jersey that Cleveland has. "Cleveland" is spelled in red Mandarin script with a gold outline. The red number with gold outline is in its normal position underneath. On the back of the jersey, the alternate Cavs logo lies underneath the collar. Under the back number is a special year of the rooster logo I designed for this concept. The shorts are the typical Cavs shorts except with the alternate logo in place of the "C" logo. All in all, the uniforms are your typical Cavs jerseys except with some new logos and wordmarks mixed in. Hope you enjoyed my concept! Any C&C and feedback is welcomed! If anyone is celebrating Chinese New Year, have a good holiday!
  3. Hi Guys As I wanted to play to the MyGM mode in NBA 2k17 with an expansion team, I decided to create some logos Feel free to give advices and cristicisms.
  4. I've been taking a break from my soccer concepts to work on my non-badge logo skills, and I've created a concept for an NBA team if the league returned to Vancouver. Like many teams, the logo would not be surrounded by the letters, but I decided to follow the NBA's rule of including team names in the primary. Below is a version of the logo without the letters and also a bonus tertiary logo featuring an Inukshuk. SECONDARY TERTIARY Let me know what you guys think!
  5. Ive always been into making logos for teams in video game systems, it started with custom colleges in the latter years of NCAA Football, and has blossomed into making teams for NBA2K17. Here's my first ones from scratch, i'm very open to suggestions. All done in Photoshop CS6
  6. After watching the Giants' Color Rush throwbacks and mulling the (hopeful) return of blue and gold for the LA Rams, I got to thinking of the return to old logos. A few come to mind as of the past 15-20 years. And, sure, there are many more that could have been used as an example (ie- Islanders, Sabres, Blue Jays, Hawks, Kings, etc) ... But, what other teams are there in the Big 4 that you would like to see a return to a previous logo as their main logo? Here are a few I'd love to see, but I would love to see what many of you have in mind as well ...
  7. Hello once again, everyone! If you've been on the boards for some time, you may have seen me post concepts like this before. I've done MLB, I did NFL, and recently, I asked on Twitter which one I should tackle next. How it works is: imagine if every team in the league got a rebrand/refresh. New wordmarks, new primary, sometimes, new colors. Sometimes old throwback colors! Who knows?! Traditionally speaking, I have not done uniforms for the rebranding effort - but, if someone wanted to do that, you're more than welcome to. Just be sure to credit me for the work I've done. But without further ado, here's the new look Raptors. __ If you're just joining us, here's what's been up so far: Toronto Raptors (EDITED) Boston Celtics Fauxback Los Angeles Lakers (EDITED) Phoenix Suns (EDITED) Washington Wizards WITH TIMELAPSE VIDEO! 8. Let me get straight into this. Canada hasn't won a major North American sports league title since the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup against the Los Angeles Kings, 4 games to 1 and the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, 4 games to 2. Since then, 4 Canadian teams make the Stanley Cup Final only to lose: the Vancouver Canucks (1994, 2011), the Calgary Flames (2004), the Edmonton Oilers (2006) and the Ottawa Senators (2007) and 1 Canadian team did make the MLS Cup only to lose: the Toronto FC (2016). Also we can't forget that two former Canadian NHL teams relocated to the States in 2 consecutive years: the Quebec Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche in '95, while the original Winnipeg Jets became the Arizona Coyotes in '96. Many NHL fans not only in Canada but also around the world (except the U.S.) thinks it was former Los Angeles Kings defenceman Marty McSorley that put a curse in the Canadian NHL teams after the Habs won the 1993 SCF, while many NHL fans in the U.S. thinks that Canadian teams has a lot of bad luck against the American teams when they compete in the Stanley Cup Final. The Blue Jays only returned to the MLB Postseason 22 years after the last World Series title. They won the American League East Division in 2015 and they won the AL Wild Card berth the following year. In the 2015 ALDS they beat the Texas Rangers, 3 games to 2, while in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual World Series champs Kansas City Royals, 4 games to 2. The path was longer in the following year: They won the Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, they won the ALDS against the Texas Rangers once again, but this time they swept that series by 3, but in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual American League champs and World Series runners-up the Cleveland Indians. Many Blue Jays fans thinks the 2-year row ALCS losses against the Royals and the Indians thinks it was bad luck and no good playing, while many non-Blue Jays fans thinks the Jays had bad luck against the Royals and the Indians. This year, the Toronto FC surprisingly advanced to the MLS Cup by winning the Eastern Conference title, they dominated the game but however, they did heartbreakingly lose the title to the Seattle Sounders in the penalties, 5 to 4. Many TFC fans thinks the loss was a bad luck and missed opportunity, while Sounders fans thinks TFC had bad luck against a team that has former TFC goalie Stefan Frei, who had a memorable MLS Cup by winning both the title and the Most Valuable Player award. Canada has only one NBA team: the Toronto Raptors, who had won four Atlantic Division titles (2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016) but they were eliminated three times in the first round and one time in the East Final: 2007 and 2014 against the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and 2015 against the Washington Wizards and lost the 2016 Eastern Conference final against the eventual NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers. Many Raptors fans thinks the team had a lack of luck but non-Raptors fans thinks the Raptors had bad luck against American-based NBA teams in the Playoffs. There are two reasons behind this horrific drought: 1) American Dollar always gets valued than the its Canadian counterpart 2) American teams has more luck than the Canadian teams when we there is a sports league title on the line So, guys, what do you think about this terrible drama involving Canadian-based North American sports league teams?.
  9. The sunny state of Florida is home to numerous athletic clubs. They have nine professional clubs in the Big Four leagues of North America. I noticed that every team has a crappy uniform component. Breaking it down further; In the NFL, we have three teams from different parts of the state. The Miami Dolphins have questionable colour choices (navy?) and a bland uniform for a team called the Dolphins. The Buccaneers have awful numbers, weird colour choices, and an odd combo of stripes and piping. The Jaguars have a strong colour combo but terrible uniforms. In the NBA, we have the Heat and the Magic. The Heat aren't that bad but a couple tweaks could be greatly beneficial. The Magic have gone in the opposite direction of where they should be headed. The NHL provides some of the best uniforms out of the bunch. The Florida redesign was so much better than their last set, but a few tweaks could knock it out of the park. The Lightning have another boring set, despite another inspiring name. The MLB fields two of the last teams. The Marlins have such a great colour combo (minus black) and have so much potential, but it has been wasted. The Rays are close to a homer of a set, but tweaks should fix the problems. My last project ended eight months ago. I haven't made a concept of any kind in over half a year, so bear with me. Let's begin with the Dolphins. I love the throwbacks that the Dolphins have. I think it's a consensus that they should go back to those full time. Here's the full set. The home set features a teal top and white pants with their old logo, because it's great. The road set is a whiteout because I thought it looked good and the colours really stand out. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I loved the Colour Rush jerseys from this year. I used white pants and socks to balance the colours a little better. I have returned at last. Leave C and C!
  10. Hey guys! I preordered the new NBA 2k16 video game so it should be here Friday and I wanted to get started on my MyTEAM identity seeing as they have lots of new customization options. I have never created a new team identity before and this is the first logo I've ever made so I would love some advice! I live in Omaha, NE and noticed that the game has the option to locate a team there so I based my team around that. I went with the team name of storm because there already is an Omaha Storm Chasers baseball team and plus I figured I could get a cool color scheme and uniforms from it . So here we go! I have a logo, home, away, alt and pride uniform for the Omaha Storm! Logo: I'm pretty happy with this logo for it being my first one but I would love some advice on how to improve it because it doesn't seem quite there yet. I tried to make my own word mark but it wasn't turning out so I went with Conrad's Autzen font. Home: The uniforms are pretty self explanatory but I did want to add the fact that I added the little tag at the bottom of the jersey that Adidas has been doing to "motivate" their players that reads, "O.N.E. City O.N.E. Team". The "O.N.E." stands for Omaha, Nebraska. Away: Alt: Pride: I don't know how much I'm feeling this uniform but couldn't really think of another aspect of Omaha to base it off of other than the city flag. But let me know what you think and I'll welcome any suggestions for more "pride" ideas! Thanks for looking and feedback is appreciated!
  11. Not exactly sure where to post this. I recreated (to the best of my ability) the NBA championship banners they hang on the stadiums. This should actually be a thing in this site. Just reply if you have any corrections. To hell with wordmarks. Enjoy.
  12. Let's just take a look at each team's first attempt at adding an alternate jersey and choose the best (or worst): Celtics: Clippers: Hornets/Pelicans: Wizards: Bulls: Cavaliers: Mavericks: Nuggets: Pistons: Pacers: Heat: Bucks: Lakers: Timberwolves: Jazz: Nets: Knicks: Magic: Warriors: Suns: Blazers: Kings: Spurs: Rockets: Sonics/Thunder: Raptors: Hawks: Grizzlies: Bobcats/Hornets: Sixers:
  13. Hey all. I've posted similar projects like this here in the past and just wanted to share. In honor of the NBA season kickoff and Dr. Strange being right around the corner I wanted to unveil my NBA Marvel Logo Mashup Project. This project uses all 30 NBA primary logos. Each logo is combined with a Marvel Comics character. The goal was to mimic each logo as closely to the original as possible. Matching color usage, line weights and fonts. You can see this set and more at my website, wechoosetogotothemoondesign.com Thanks!
  14. Hey Guys! Today I have a concept for the Pittsburgh Condors basketball team. I'm a big fan of Pittsburgh sport teams and think they can expand to other sports, like the NBA. I wanted to pick a team name that had some history in the city. I chose the ABA's 1970-72 Pittsburgh Condors. Previously known as the Pipers. The logos I've designed mirrors the city of champions with the good old Black and Gold. I went with Wing-Theme to be slightly different from the Hawks and Pelicans. With the basketball logo, I had to give a nod to the ABA Condors so they are not completely forgotten. ( Although their logo should ) Hope you like this one! ABA 1970-1972 Logo: NBA Pittsburgh Condors 2017 Logo: C&C Welcome!
  15. I'm sure this has been done before. Mods, please merge this with another thread if necessary. I'll start off with the NFL. 17. Hey Please check out my latest Ben Simmons Identity concept and give any feedback necassary! https://www.behance.net/gallery/42758743/Ben-Simmons-Nike-Identity-Concept
  18. I don't post on here very often anymore, but I recently had a thought that I believed other board members may share. I happen to have more than one favorite team in each sport, and this is primarily because I didn't grow up in just one place. There have been star players who have played for both of my favorite teams, but this doesn't happen often. I'll post those below. My question is, how many other board members also have had star athletes or favorite players whom have donned uniforms of both of your favorite teams? Gary Sheffield - Marlins/Brewers Terrell Buckley - Packers/Dolphins Ray Allen - Bucks/Heat
  19. Inspired by Gswansea and Uglybus' concept NBA All-Stars Project, I will be posting NBA all star game uniforms for several teams (I was supposed to do all but I got tired in the middle). While Gswansea and Uglybus do the logos, court and a preview of the unis, I'll be sticking mostly on detailed concept of uniforms. Some rules I tried to apply: 1. Uniforms should be inspired by the host team's classic/popular jerseys. 2. Uniforms should be dominantly red for west and blue for east. The home team can be white and the away team black. 3. Colors of the host team should be present on the uniforms. 3. There should be a city logo (not to be mistaken for a team logo - should be a logo of say "atlanta" and not the "hawks"). 4. Uniforms should be "modern". By that I mean fades, non existing collar or sleeve designs, patterns, etc. 5. The Allstar participant team logo is placed at the back under the collar. 6. No advertisements and sleeves.
  20. In thinking about "Faces of the Franchise" I've realized that some teams don't have one face of the franchise, but rather many legends that represent the team. So I thought to myself "Wouldn't a sports-themed Mount Rushmore-type list make more sense?". Being a Detroit Tigers fan, this is an especially tough list because they've had so many legends wear the Old English D on the front of their jerseys. But without further ado, here I go. Ty Cobb: An obvious choice, simply one of the best hitters and base runners in league history. Even if he was a great pain, he was also a great baseball player. Hank Greenberg: A unique choice, I know. But he was one of the Tiger's most prolific home run sluggers in their history. It also helps that he was a hero to Detroit's Jewish population at a time when they needed a hero. Al Kaline: A no doubter here. I mean, he is nicknamed Mr. Tiger after all! He spent his entire career with Detroit, and he is known for his class as much as he was for his playing skill he had back in the day. Alan Trammell AND Lou Whitaker: There's no way I could split up one of the best double play combos in history by choosing one over the other. It is almost impossible to not think of one without the other. They spent their entire career together, and during that time they became fan favorites for their amazing defensive plays and for leading Detroit to the 1984 World Series. In compiling this list I made the decision to leave off some players that still meant a lot to the organization (Willie Horton and Kirk Gibson, to name a few). I also decided to stick to players only, which led to Mike Ilitch and Sparky Anderson being left out. I thought about putting Miguel Cabrera on the list, but I'm waiting to see how the rest of his career pans out. So what's your list?
  21. Let me start by saying I have got this idea from both the NFL and NHL alternate universe threads. In 1976, the National and American Basketball Association reached a merger agreement, with four ABA teams (San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, and New York Nets) joining the NBA. However, both the Kentucky Colonels and St Louis Spirits were both told that they would receive a spot in the NBA - but they didn't. What if the NBA did honor their agreement with Kentucky and St Louis, and they added 6 new teams into the league? I will not be doing a yearly standings, but will state the champions. I present to you an alternate universe. (My phone is almost dead, so I won't post any designs now)
  22. I made a graphic, to touch on the idea of the 2017 NBA All Star Weekend to come to Indianapolis, Indiana. I added another one that actually features the NBA logo in the graphic.
  23. The title says it all. The reason I brought this up is because me & a buddy were discussing ugly uniforms. It made me notice that the State of Colorado has ugly jerseys galore. MLB- The Rockies are a team that all love to hate on here. The too-much black, the vest jersey, everything about the set looks bland and bad. NHL- The Avs wear RBK Edge Piped awfulness and I hate the new C shoulder patch logo. And I don't care, that alternate jersey is bland and needs tweaking. Plus, Navy and Maroon don't work often. NBA- The Nuggets jerseys looked better before the unnecessary wordmark & number colour change they made last year, which I still never got. Why use black numbers? The yellow alternate jersey looked better before they changed the wordmark too to that Rainbow- era wordmark last year too and that jersey was fine and should be the basis for a new set. That sleeved alternate (The White-Gold jersey) is meh. The jersey itself is awful, but the shorts look okay. NFL- I don't care how iconic you think they are, the Broncos look dated. Now that Manning is gone, this should be the time to change and re-modernize one of your much better looking sets. MLS- The Rapids are nothing special & that yellow jersey they wear is ugly. So, just my thoughts. Who do you guys nominate or do you agree with my choice of Colorado?
  24. Hey everybody! Please check out my logo concept for D'Angelo Russell and let me know what you think, all CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is more than welcome as I see it as a way to improve my process. This is a portfolio piece for my Senior year at the Savannah College of Art & Design and no affiliation with the athlete or Nike. Thank you! https://www.behance.net/gallery/41163175/DAngelo-Russell-Identity-Concept
  25. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES NEW LOGO CONCEPT Growing up i've always been a fan of the Timberwolves and what they've done with their branding. I've always liked their logos, colors, court designs, elements of their jerseys, etc. I think they have done a pretty nice job overall over the years. With the Timberwolves rebranding next season, I wanted to try my own version of their logos. I've always been a fan of their original logo, but felt that it needed some tweaks to really make it pop. I have two different mockups that i've done; classic revamp of the their original logo vs. tweak of current secondary logo. I wanted to try and focus on the blue, green, and white colors with the use of black as an alternate color. What do you think of these concepts? Any critiques, suggestions, improvements are encouraged. Thanks guys! Enjoy! Matt
