  1. This is my first project of this sorts as I've only had PS for about 6 months. however, I've also been into the logos, designs, etc of basketball teams, so i decided to create redesign the entire NBA. This series will include some teams getting full updates, some getting minor tweaks, and some getting an entirely new identities. There will also be a few expansion teams. C&C IS definitely appreciated as this is my first project and i would like to know what i can work on! On to the first Concept. DETROIT PISTONS I wanted to keep this clean and sharp, but still give them something to make them unique. the two tone was in part inspired by the raptors early 2000's purple/black jerseys (Not the recent USA olympic jerseys, although i now realize there are several similarities.) i was never a big fan of their most recent word mark, as its too bubbly, so i went in the direction of a sharper font. ATLANTA HAWKS I haven't particularly liked any hawks jerseys since the classic Dominique era jerseys, so i considering using those to influence my new ones. however, i felt the hawks needed something more refreshing, so i went away with the red and yellow (volt?) in favor of the older blue and green jerseys. And finally my first expansion team BALTIMORE ROYALTY A perhaps underused color scheme in my eyes. We'll start off with the logo. (Don't worry this is the only jersey in the series that features a gradient jersey, but i felt the green/light green could work on these while still looking simple and clean) thank you for viewing. More too come soon!
  2. Hello everyone. I am very excited for the NBA to make the move over to Nike this upcoming season. And according to Nike, 8 teams will have throwback uniforms this year. I wanted to take a shot at some throwbacks, but I also wanted to modernize them. I will be posting uniforms for all 30 NBA teams, and maybe the Supersonics/All-Star teams. For uniform references, I used this thread by @eibram . First up,the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta Hawks For the Hawks, I used a combination of their current color scheme/uniforms, and their Dominique Wilkins-era uniforms. Please leave CC. Next up: Boston Celtics.
  3. Hey guys, I've seen a few people posting concepts for the new Nike NBA uniforms so I thought I would throw my hat in the ring. I tried to keep these simplistic and minimal while using the new logos and fonts. First up is the "Association Edition": I wanted to keep these as basic as possible. I added the new fonts as well as the good year logo. Something I did not like about the old uniforms is the lack of a number outline, so I addressed that. Also, I opted for a pointed collar, not a rounded one. Next is the "Icon Edition:" Again, I added a white outline to the numbers and font that I personally thought the uniforms were missing. Next is the "Athlete's Mindset" Everyone knows that athletes love to wear black. I'm not personally a fan but think that it can work sometimes. Here I tried to keep it as close to the other two uniforms as possible. Last but not least, "The Community" How can you not like these classics? These are some of my all time favorite uniforms in sport. The orange and white is a fantastic combo. I'm going to attempt other teams as well. I have no time table for when I will complete it if I even do. All C&C and requests welcome.
  4. After making court concepts of all the NCAA D1 schools, I decided to do the NBA G League (formerly NBA D-League) next. Obviously many of these designs couldn't currently be used due to NBAGL teams sharing arenas/courts with other teams but it's still fun to design them. I didn't get as creative as I did with the NCAA courts because the NBA/NBAGL are still generally more traditional with their designs and I still want the concepts to be realistic. I used DarthBrooks court template. I will post them in groups of 5 (except for the last group which will be 6). A few things you might notice... The more unique logos the team has the more I tried to incorporate them into the court. Many of the courts are similar to their parent team's court. I added the team's parent team logo to the upper left and lower right corners. I didn't include websites, twitter handles, hashtags, etc. on the out-of-bounds area. 5. Hey all, Iwasn't originally planning to share but i wanted some others opinion.here is my redesign of the Dallas Mavericks I did for NBA 2k17. i wanted to do sort of a remix on the 90's logo, so i focused the main logo on the "M" and brought back green as a tertiary color. the uniforms as well take from that time period as well. here is the home uniforms and the assets i created. once again the uniform is a remix of the classic green ones and here are the away uniforms and their assets i do apologize for not having the uniforms on templates but as i said i wasn't planning on posting these. I hope for some feedback and criticism
  6. In my opinion, the Spirits of St. Louis were by far the coolest ABA identity. The funky, orange uniforms were just as awesome as they were seventies, and their logo was fantastic as well. And so if the NBA ever expands into STL, they should definitely reboot that awesome identity. Now, personally, i would have 0 problems with them literally just copying and pasting the Spirits design from 1975 to 20--, but I'm almost positive that would never happen, so this is basically my plan B. While i was brainstorming this in my head, I realized that a basketball already has a St. Louis Arch in it. How convenient is that?! It certainly helped serve as an anchor for this project, because i knew that would be the centerpiece with some plane-related imagery to help it. So as I was experimenting with roundels and such, i realized that i could get the exact image i was going for with simply a specifically angled basketball and two simple propellers. Along with a modern take on the vintage Spirits script, I'm pretty happy with the result. I'd really love to hear some C&C on this, I'm curious to hear what you guys think! Thanks!
  7. I decided to rank my favorite NBA uniforms sets ever. I ranked these based on personal preference, aesthetic, and uniqueness. The set is intended to include the home, road, and alternate uniforms (terms nearly obsolete now). 1. Orlando Magic 1997-98 (home, road, alternate) 2. Orlando Magic 2002-03 (home, road) 3. Utah Jazz 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) 4. Toronto Raptors 2005-06 (home, road, alternate) 5. New Orleans Hornets 2012-13 (home, road, alternate) 6. Minnesota Timberwolves 2007-08 (home, road, alternate) 7. Seattle Sonics 1994-95 (home, road) 8. Washington Wizards 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) 9. Milwaukee Bucks 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) 10. Atlanta Hawks 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) Honorable mentions (in order): Orlando Magic 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) Denver Nuggets 1992-93 (home, road) Brooklyn Nets 2016-17 (home, road, alternate) Charlotte Bobcats 2011-12 (home, road) Seattle Sonics 2007-08 (home, road, alternate) Philadelphia 76ers 2005-06 (home, road, alternate) Utah Jazz 2003-04 (home, road, alternate) bold = current set
  8. First I'd like to start off with the ABA for a page or 2. who misses when the basketball used to look like this?
  9. I know how much you all hate stadiums/arenas with 1 side of luxury suites. The good news is that the wall of suites are on their way out in this upcoming renovation. The bad news? Well... https://www.ajc.com/sports/basketball/leadoff-hawks-set-begin-philips-arena-renovation-today/x2Jf0WcLDfuzUtk1kLanBP/
  10. As a Spurs fan, I was completely let down when the new secondary logo was recently released. I think the new logo is way too generic and does not represent the organization at all. Even though I'm not a fan of the simplistic logo trend going around the NBA, I wanted to design my own minimalist concept for the SA Spurs that featured the iconic Alamo with the basketball.
  11. Here are some concepts I did for NBA teams for next year. I hope you like them. Hit me up with C&C. I'll try to post three a day.
  12. So we have no sort of info on what the court for the 'Wolves will look like, considering the summer-long renovation, so I decided to play around with a template and made this. It's a bit rough around the edges, due to my limited know-how on graphic design, but it's just an idea I had.
  13. For a while, i've been thinking about changing the NBA, because I wish that the Kings were still in Kansas City. So, I decided to make that concept, and more, editing NBA teams designs and cities, to make things make more sense and be sunshine, lollipops and rainbows in my brian. This means that the NBA will have a total of 32 teams, where some teams (like the one coming up soon) will either not move out of the city they moved out of, move to a different city or be born through the magics of expansion. Starting these changes, we have the San Diego (normally the Los Angeles) Clippers. HOME UNIFORM AWAY UNIFORM critique is appreciated
  14. So while I'm currently working on my NIKE NBA series, I thought I'd take a little break and work on some NCAA concepts. These are just some alternates for some random NCAA teams I found interesting. Enjoy and please let me know how you like them! First round of three here with many more to come!
  15. NBA Southeast Division _________________________________________ Washington Wizards You can't edit and brainstorm that much with the Wizards. They have a logo and identity that have no relation with their nickname, their identity just screams 'Murica. I wish they change their name to Capitals or Monuments. Charlotte Hornets Changed the shade of purple and teal. Orlando Magic In my opinion, the Magic's color scheme is too boring with Blue, Black, and Silver. I got the purple and gold combination while searching for anything magic that is not Disney, and the only thing that pops is Dark Magician from Yu-Gi-Oh. Miami Heat Miami Heat predominant color on their logo is black. In my opinion, black doesn't scream Heat to me. If their nickname is Miami Burn, black would be good. I replaced the deep red with orange, and black with deep red. Atlanta Hawks When the Hawks rebranded, everyone expects them to return to their red & yellow color scheme from the 80's to early 00's. But when it was revealed, the new colors is red and some shade of green, many were disappointed. Yellow also looks good with their current logo, compared to just red and white.
  16. Hello everyone and thank you for visiting this thread. this will be a short concept that ill be doing of the Houston Rockets. I like the Rockets current logo for the reasos that it is simple and simple is always good but its missing the creativity of the old logos so i decided to do a mash-up of a few of the logos. it isnt done yet but i would love some C&C on what can be improved (i will be adding a rocket into the logo so dont say "ADD A ROCKET") but i will accept any response if you dont think it needs one. the 2 logos i chose to merge with the current logo are the San Diego Rockets & The 72-95 Logo(Championship era) Logos pictured below San Diego: 72-95 Championship era: i went with the colors of the 95 logo and the negative space in the san diego logo i added to the new one. now without further ado heres version 1.0 of the logo i came up with. New Logo:
  17. So I haven't posted on here in a while but got bored and decided to play around with some NBA concepts. Have 15 done so far so I'm going to progressively post those while working to finish off the league. No real structure here, some home uniforms, some away, even some alternates, just whatever I think looks good. As always C&C are welcomed greatly, please let me know what you think! First up, one of my simpler designs with the 76ers! Tried to go for a very classic looking jersey, while emphasizing the great red white and blue color scheme present. Next up is the Warriors. Didn't change too much of the jersey base, just adding smaller improvements that I thought looked sharp. Also scrapped the pants and went with a more "warrior" looking design. And to round out my first set, is the Nets! Once again going for a very classic look on the jersey, with a very simple design on the pants.
  18. I guess it's that time again -- looking forward to the uniform and logo changes in the NBA for the upcoming 2016-17 season ... THE LAST YEAR OF ADIDAS! As has been twirling around Twitter, UniWatch and the mothership (thanks to Conrad) ... the "rumored" or "semi-confirmed" changes for 16-17 include Sacramento, Utah and Detroit. Not sure if this graphic confirms a change in the Celtics' primary logo? But, I'll post it here for speculation ...
  19. For my first ever post, I will be posting my redesigns for the current courts in the NBA. I do my work on MS Paint so please forgive me if some of my work comes out a little choppy. I do however strive to be as neat as possible with my work. Well, let's get started. First up are the Boston Celtics, a team with a timeless look is hard to redesign but I fixed a few things that I felt were amiss in their current look. The sidelines now read "Boston Celtics", (as they should), and retained is the classic parquet and the signature of legendary Celtics coach, Red Auerbach. The changes are minor but any change is significant when dealing with a team such as the Boston Celtics. Next up will be the Cleveland Cavaliers. C&C Greatly appreciated!
  20. One of the teams I see the most concepts for on the internet is the Oklahoma City Thunder, and for good reason. They have one of the best color schemes in the NBA, but never seem to utilize it to their full potential. I've had a few ideas for the Thunder floating around in my head for a while, but didn't exactly know how to implement them. I wanted to bring in some Native American themes using the Thunder's color pallete, but not go too too crazy with OKC's unique scheme. When it was announced that Nike would be outfitting the NBA next season, I set to work putting my ideas into reality. For this concept I created a custom tertiary logo for use on the shorts. It is a simple "OKC" monogram in the shape of a roundel. The background of the first version of the logo also shows off a special pattern I developed for the uniforms. Called Kiowa Sunrise, it combines Native American design elements with the OKC color scheme. This pattern is the bread and butter of the uniforms, and is also featured on the background of the first version of the logo. I wanted to keep the uniforms really simple and let the colors really speak for themselves. The uniform is simple plain white and features a blue old west style arching "Thunder" wordmark and sans serif numbers, similar to their current font. The main event really is the Kiowa sunrise elements, on the side panels of the jersey and at the bottom of the shorts. A plain white "OKC" logo is found at the bottom of the shorts. The powder blue away uniforms are the same as the homes with a few differences. White replaces the powder on the Kiowa Sunrise pattern, and a powder "OKC" logo replaces the white one on the bottom of the shorts. A white split "Oklahoma City" also replaces the "Thunder". I must admit, I went pretty out of the box with the alternate jerseys. The Kiowa Sunrise pattern is sublimated over the entire top of the black jersey, with an arched "OKC" over the number. The other big feature on these uniforms is the big logo style Kiowa Sunrise version of the OKC on the shorts. Other than that, the jersey is trimness and pretty stripped back to let the pattern talk. What do you guys think? Any constructive critism/feedback is welcomed.
  21. Hey everyone. While it's the most exciting time for Basketball fans these days, I felt an immense desire to update all NBA courts for the upcoming season. I've done like 7 courts already, but let's just start with the Pelicans.
  22. Just noticed this today, NBA 2k17 appears to have leaked the new Pistons logo LONG before we knew about it. On the "Current NBA Teams" AND "league expansion" option, you can see the Pistons new logo in the bottom right corner.
  23. Howdy folks! I started a concept art project for what future WNBA teams would look like should they ever exist. Although not all NBA teams have "sister" teams who share the same arena as their NBA counterparts, I've came up with some ideas for possible "sister" teams to their NBA brothers. The first one I will be sharing is Boston. I present to you, the Boston Charm, sister team to the Boston Celtics. And yes, I've designed the unis and the court. The Charm uses the same exact color scheme used by the Celtics: green and gold. It also uses the iconic shamrock in its logo and on its uniforms. I also added a second alternate uniform which is black and has "Bean Town" written across the front. I know the court is missing a few things, but I just wanted to give the general idea of what the court is expected to look like. The TD Garden logo's placement is different from the one on the Celtics court. More teams will be coming soon and I hope to submit my ideas to the WNBA when they're ready to expand. Also, I'll be doing new concepts for the defunct teams from the early 2000s. I would gladly appreciate any and all feedback. Ask yourself; what do you think about the team name, the court, the uniforms, the idea in general?
  24. Hey y'all: Decided I'd take a shot at rebranding the New York Knicks, a team with a current brand identity plagued by horribleness and bad management. General Comments: Silver will be removed from the color scheme in its entirety, leaving a new vintage blue, a slightly darkened orange, and white as the three colors. LOGOS: Primary: This roundball concept is similar to that of the 70th anniversary logo the team used last season, featuring the new orange from that logo as well. The logo features the Knicks' current ball alternate logo center stage, with New York Knicks Basketball branding and the teams establishment date, 1946. Secondary: This works off of the Knicks' primary logo history, specifically in the past 25 years. However, it incorporates the ball from the older logos while donning an updated "Knicks" text above the ball where all of the letters are the same size in proportion. It holds far more true to the logo of the championship era than the current one, which still holds a bad taste of the Isiah Era. Partial: Simply enough, this is a reversed color version of the ball logo, used primarily on white. UNIFORMS: The new nike branding is added near the right shoulder and Chase will be on the left side as the jersey ad. The sleeves no longer are broken in the middle and are now connected. Both the home and road jerseys cut the silver from the sleeves/neck as well, leaving blue and orange on the home and white and orange on the road. Both uniforms also adopt the new shades of blue and orange, but the fonts remain in tact, although also with silver removed. The home jersey features the partial logo on the shorts, while the road features the secondary on the shorts; both replacing the old primary. While this uniform refresh is not drastic (due to the novelty of the existing uniforms), it makes some much needed changes and is similar to that of the Timberwolves uniform refresh in the late 00s. What do you think?
