  1. Shad Khan In Deal to Buy Wembley Stadium. Just when you thought the NFL Franchise Merry Go Round had stopped for a while... new speculation emerges. It seems unlikely to me, but has Khan given up on Jacksonville and is he willing to take the London plunge?
  2. So..."Biggest upgrades" and "Biggest downgrades" are already a thing on here. I figured I may as well start the only remaining thread in the series. In your opinion, which uniforms kept the quality close to the same level as their predecessors? For me the classic example would be the lateral move made by the Denver Broncos in 1997. They went from good uniform to good uniform (in my opinion anyway) while changing the dark jersey color and radically altering their design. The 1996 Philadelphia Eagles were similar - big changes, but all in all went from middling to middling. If there is a bad-to-bad lateral move...that one's a little trickier. I'm sure someone can fill us in though.
  3. So I was looking at some NFL uniforms today, and the idea popped in my head, what if the NFL allowed teams to put ads on their uniforms. This could be a very real possiblitily in the near future, so I decided to whip up a quick concept of it potentially. This post is not my best work, I just wanted to get the idea across to everyone. For this I went very Boston by putting Dunkin' Donuts on the Patriots home uniform. Tell me your thoughts down below, and if you would like me to do this for any other teams. Thanks. The Vision: I wanted to see what an NFL uniform would look like with an ad on it. Quote: "Ads can produce a large amount of income, but is it worth it to hurt your identity potentially?" -Kong Tom
  4. Ok, so my jaguars, have unveiled new uniforms, and lets just say, they're a little bland. I thought ok, they could be worse, but could be wayyyyy better. So here's (in my mind) how the simplistic jaguars should look. I dropped the gold because that's what they wanted in the design they dropped. I included all 9 possible combinations of jersey and pants, obviously the 1 helmet rule is in effect and personally i think a satin finish (main shell of the seahawks) would look best with it. I decided to just leave the shoulders plain, but if its really an issue in the league i'd add plain shoulder numbers. SO HERE ARE THE BORING-LOOK JAGUARS (yes please don't tell me they're a little plain, that was the point) The home and main look: teal on black color rush (teal on teal): the home alt (teal on white) (which id hope they never wear): The alternate to be worn twice a year (black on black): the alternate that looks funny but might work against the right team (black on teal): an alternate that i really dont like but added for the sake of showing all the combos (black on white): the primary road uni (4 games) (white on black): the secondary road uni (2 games) (white on teal): the uni to wear once a year when we play a dark colored team such as the ravens or raiders: (2 games)(white on white): Let me know if you like these more than the unveiled uniforms, because that was the goal. and yes theyre plain but C&C still appreciated!
  5. Hey guys, while I had the chance I just wanted to show you guys some quick concepts I made to try and improve on two of the latest Nike redesigns in the Titans and Jaguars. I personally wasn't much of a fan of either redesign this time around, even though I generally like what Nike's done a little more than most. Anyway, here are the changes I would make. -For the Titans, I kept the sword-shaped shoulder yoke, I felt that was a nice-looking update to the overall style. I transferred that shape over to the pants stripe as well, and removed any "beveling" in the set, along with both shades of gray. Since the team apparently never even considered a white helmet, I decided columbia blue would be preferable over navy. I also used the much-beloved social media font, thanks to @Conrad.. The navy alt is shown with navy pants, but most of the time it would be worn with columbia pants. For the Jaguars, my design ended up looking really similar to @BucsBoy02's most recent design as well as the design on Reddit. It goes to show this most recent iteration has some good design ideas, but something just felt missing. So I went back to the previous number font, added gold back into the scheme more, and used sharp angles as a design motif. I didn't really mind the black numbers on the teal jersey, but since the intention for the Jags was to go back to tradition I used white numbers, and redesignated teal as home. I made the numbers teal on the black alt, I feel with outlines it could still work. Thanks for checking this out.
  6. This is my first time doing this sort of thing because I don't have a professional art program nor the fact that I can draw either which doesn't help but I happen to like the Madden Expansion Team and hopefully they'll add more locations and uniforms and team names.... oh wait this is EA, nothing will change at all. So the first team I intend to show off is an old favorite of mine over the years, the London Monarchs aka the Royal Gold and Blues... the old school team that may become an actual team someday within the next few years... here's the Home and Away uniforms for said Monarchs plus the Third/Alternate ((No more Color Rush)) variant of said uniform Keeping the helmets as safe can be, the uniforms are combination of Metallic Gold, Royal Blue and Red with White showing off the Away Uniform.. if anything, the third uniform is something I'm proud off because it can be used on the road on certain games or if they're paired up against the Saints or the 49ers. They would have their Home games at the new Northumberland stadium and whilst in America, they use the Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia as their temporary ground against those that can't adjust to the time difference. Feedback is welcome, I intend to update with the next team...El Diablos of Mexico City
  7. A lot of people here at the mothership reference the NFL's "five year rule" when it comes to changes in uniforms, helmets, logos and so forth. But what is the rule, exactly? Well, thanks to my bothering to look it up, I'm providing the answer for future, I'm sure scholarly, discussion. The "five year rule" is represented by a resolution adopted by the NFL's Executive Council as "2002 Resolution G-3." The formatting might get a little wonky below but its current form, verbatim (verbatim to the point where I'm even following the author's mistake in that the NFL's Constitution and Bylaws uses roman numerals, thus there is no "Article 19," but rather an "Article XIX"), is as follows... But wait... there's more! Only this I have to modify from the original text's layout because it's in table format... Isn't that simple to understand?
  8. These are the uniforms that should have been unveiled today to say the least.. HOME Quote "These are your identity. These show what you want to represent yourself as".- Kong Tom Home: I wanted these to look fierce, tough, and sleek. Give feedback on how they look. Thanks ALTERNATE Quote: "Show your 2nd side" - Kong Tom Alternate: I wanted to show the precision of football. The between the lines, tackling, and methodicalness. Which one do you like better? Honest feedback is always appreciated.
  9. So I thought about posting this concept for about a week but held off until we saw the new uniforms. After seeing them unveiled, I'm extremely underwhelmed. They only have gold in the logo, no pants stripes, and number are single-colored. Quite frankly, I think they oversimplified. My concept uses some past parts of their uniforms that I really like. Let's talk about them. - Solid black helmet, which the team did, in fact, return to - Old number font that was used from 2000-2008. - Old pants stripes Now I didn't want to make a carbon copy of their old uniforms, so I went with IMO a criminally underused football jersey design with vertical shoulder stripes. It's a unique look that doesn't get used enough, but it makes these uniforms modern without going over the edge. Hope you guys enjoy. Let me know if you'd like to see more combinations too and I'll probably post them.
  10. I believe Gupti first brought this news in the 2017 NFL thread. Credit to him for putting it here first. I have just typed it up and included a few links to Twitter threads. According to Twitter account @madebytim, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be changing uniforms next offseason. The current talk is that this information is being disseminated during stadium tours, although there is no current official word. This is the 5th year of the current set so a change is possible. A quick rundown of the rumors indicate that Tom Coughlin has some significant input into the process, with the knowledge that he wants something "more traditional," does not like the emphasis on the gold and wants more teal in the design, and that this will be a complete change of the look. There are quite possibly some elements that could stay (the current away uniform is a pretty incredible update of the classic away uniform), including the "JAGS shield." One thing that is pretty much a sure change is the helmet. Both Tim of the @madebytim Twitter and Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country, the Jags' SB Nation site, have said they were sitting on the news. Link: https://twitter.com/MadeByTim/status/913435220334010369 Initial thread here: https://twitter.com/MadeByTim/status/913431383426699264 A bit more from London trip here: https://twitter.com/MadeByTim/status/913433955612991488 Most of the info can be found by clicking around that Twitter account. Again, nothing official but exciting to get rid of that helmet.
  11. Our long national nightmare is over. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2769835-thursday-night-football-color-rush-alternate-uniforms-reportedly-going-away Say goodbye to Color Rush uniforms on Thursday nights this coming fall. Bill Wanger of Fox Sports said Tuesday the NFL plans to scrap the alternate uniforms it used during Thursday Night Football telecasts beginning with the 2018 season, per Jason Barrett of Barrett Sports Media. However, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the Color Rush uniforms won't be going away completely. They just "might not be exclusive to Thursday nights anymore," sources told him. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone. In December, the NFL said it was allowing teams to have "more flexibility" with their Thursday night uniforms, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, which effectively ended the Color Rush push. The polarizing Color Rush uniforms began rolling out in 2015. Some fans delighted in the alternate offerings, while others were put off by the bright colors. In one notable mishap, a Color Rush game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills proved to be a mess for those with red-green colorblindness. That should no longer be an issue now that Fox is taking over Thursday games.
  12. I was playing around with the idea of making the sides/shoulders of the jersey look like teeth about to come down on a bite. Used the current colors, logo and the their throwback font. I'm thinking the black set would be used as a monochrome alternate. Single color helmet with a larger logo. Home Away Alternate Edit: Changed the Template a little bit, cut the side panels shorter. Also had the idea of switching out the Black for a darker shade of Teal. Home Away
  13. With the new Miami Dolphins set a mere week away the time is running out to get concepts of what they could do in before it becomes what they should've done. I personally am a fan of the Dolphins current logo and unis, it's undeniable the fanbase longs for a return to the former set. I made the colors a blend of the 1974, 1996 and current logo to keep the colors lighter. The original plan was to keep the lineless look of the current logo and apply the '96 shape but the logo needs an outline to push the motion and tie down the teal. The script retains a retro/deco flow that I think is vital for any Miami team look. The shell returns to pure white with a teal facemask. The uniforms keep similar pant striping to the current set but I pull striping from the popular throwbacks. For the alt uniforms I use the dark blue rather than the orange as a matter of preference through I may draft up an orange version later since it is definitely more "Miami". Insert NikeSpeak about new era, and fusion of past legacy and future success.
  14. This off season I am going to focus my design hobby on getting better at jersey swaps and while they aren't necessarily designs, I feel this is still a solid place to post. First Up: Tyrann Mathieu to the Texans - Typically I struggle with the facemask/Helmet area but really took time on this one and feel like I nailed it down into the realm of reality. Feedback is welcomed and wanted!
  15. Here are the teams Arizona: Wow!!! I started my NFL series that I'LL TOTALLY finish!!!! Atlanta: That new logo is trash because it has red highlights! I can fix that! (On a serious note, death to piping) Baltimore: I feel like this is an even bigger F-U to the city of Cleveland Buffalo: (EDIT) I had a stupid quip here but I accidentally made the Giants uniform that everyone makes on here so I think I'm going to take the lazy route (as one does for an average NFL series) and reuse everything here for NYG Carolina: Was it too creative?? (rhetorical, it was obviously yes) Chicago: Okay but seriously though, am I getting too original in my concepts? Cincinnati: Okay but like block numbers really add to the creativity of this one Cleveland: Sooooooooooo, like, why exactly do y'all care about the "tradition" of a 20 year old team? @raysox is older than the Browns, I should be allowed to go crazy for one of these. Dallas: I'm bored at this point. Denver: Honestly, like, who needs originality? the old sets were fine, slap on their current navy and BOOM! original content! Detroit: Lmao nvm no one cares about this team (sans I assume @drdougfresh and I think @ZionEagle. Correct me if I'm wrong) Green Bay: Why exactly were they using Reebok fabrics again? That is a serious question, someone please answer. Houston: So like, the Oilers, but not. (EDIT: Never mind, it's just the Oilers) Indianapolis: Jacksonville: I'm not even lying, I genuinely hate y'all for loving double outlines and hating the new Jags logo. Kansas City: this is the second time I had to create my own brush in illustrator, i.e. I'm working too hard on this. LA Chargers: This. LA Rams: you know what's great? the ability to copy a previous set off of gridiron uniforms and passing it off as an original design. Miami: I'm missing out on some pretty iconic striping patterns in the name of consistency. I hate that. Minnesota: Joke patent pending New England: Oh? You don't like the way the 1 is serifed? You sure? Shut up and deal with it. New Orleans: should I make a Mardi Gras alt? (EDIT: Let's try this again.) NY Giants: So like my Bills concept, but not? P.S. here's an alt. NY Jets: Please help I left my phone in a friend's car Oakland: I'll make tacky vegas uniform with more gold than their hockey team. Also, I have ranked the 9 lids stores i could find in Houston, and by hat selection alone, I'd go to the willowbroook mall one by the food court or the Memorial City one by the Target. Philadelphia: tempted to use black but decided against it. Y'all are too mean to that color when it isn't the Spurs or Raiders tbh. Pittsburgh: Since the Steelers don't have block numbers, does that mean they're now copying Iowa? San Francisco: BACK AT IT AGAIN, please help I'm lonely Seattle: I want a hug and a digital giant foam middle finger. Tampa: O F C O U R S E I T S A N O R A N G E I J U S T T O L D Y O U I T W A S A N O R A N G E Tennessee: You're the only 7 i see Washington: I needed to finish. No, I'm not doing Indy
  16. The new Tennessee Titans uniforms have been met mixed, mostly negative reviews. I've seen a lot of complaints over concepts - such as color balance and cohesion - as well as over specific details - such as no white helmet and the font selection. Also, a concerning amount of people think the new uniforms make them look like the Texans, Seahawks, and/or Patriots. I don't hate the re-design, but it could definitely use some polishing. As-is, it feels incomplete....but it does have some elements that can be salvaged. -Shifting the focus to navy is a welcomed change that creates a more aggressive look -Changing the shoulder yokes to silver eliminates large volumes of Columbia blue (primary color or not, this is a very good thing) -Injecting silver into the color palette helps tone things down while allowing accent colors to pop Personally, my biggest issue with the set is the aforementioned lack of coherency. It feels like three different teams of designers worked on it -- one on the helmet, one on the jersey, and one on the pants. This should obviously never be the case, so the main goal is to unify the three major pieces. Additionally, I want to clean things up just a bit. The two-tone silver looks muddled, the underarm color blocks feel cluttered, and none of the shapes flow along with one another. Anyways, here are my changes... Helmet - The navy shell with a silver facemask is sharp, but the flaming thumbtack logo must go. It's now replaced with a modified version of the team's 20th Anniversary Logo. The two-tone silver striping has been replaced with a solid red tapered stripe designed to mimic the plume of a titan's battle helmet. (The Nike-speak potential here is off the charts.) Jersey - The navy home and white away jerseys offer continuity with the team's historical jersey colors; however, I refuse to include a Columbia blue alternate because it's just a dreadful color. The shoulder yokes are alleviated of the two-tone silver treatment, though the general color balance remains largely unchanged. The only difference is the removal of the underarm color blocks, with the sleeve trim retaining Columbia blue in the form of the Greek striping pattern. The sharpness of the sword-inspired shape is gone, though, considering you can't wear swords on your shoulders....so instead the shape has been modified in reference to shoulder armor. (You know, something you can wear on your shoulders.) Finally, the font has been adjusted to the one that's been used across most of the team's social media platforms. Pants - The actual pants unveiled the other night are shockingly underwhelming -- the sword sheath idea is intriguing, but the pants complement precisely nothing else throughout the rest of the uniform set. Here, I aim for something simple and coherent that can be worn with any jersey without causing color and/or striping inconsistencies. Navy - Navy - Silver Navy - Navy - Navy Navy - White - Navy Navy - White - Silver Any and all comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Based on the leaks so far, I strongly dislike what I've seen from the Titans. It feels like too much of a shift and doesn't read as the Titans to me. The gray is pointless clutter and makes the set much more drab. The number font is hideous and overly designed. The underarm panels look like something out of 2002. Overall, the color balance is all over the place and there's generally no cohesion at all. I always thought the Titans needed incremental tweaks, not a complete overhaul. The flaming thumbtack is outdated but I really like the circle with the stars from the state flag. The pants are fantastic, however the modern helmet stripes clash with the traditional pants. I like the shoulder stripes and the sword shaped stripes on the new set are a cool evolution of that feature, it's just a shame that they're now gray. My set looks to streamline things a bit (consistent stripes, consistent number colors on the various jersey panels, updated word mark, logo, etc). I like the idea of a red Color Rush set. Navy pants are needless clutter given how fantastic their normal white and columbia blue pants are. I think I do prefer the Titans in white helmets, however, it makes too much sense to use columbia blue to distinguish themselves from all the other white helmet teams, and it still looks great. Of all the helmet choices, the rumored navy is the worst option. I emphasized navy and columbia blue with red used as small touches (swooshes, nameplates, helmet stars, part of the word mark, etc).
  18. In the Major 4 sports -- for the most part when there is a logo change the team colors stay the same -- or don't vary much from the base color. I know there are a few teams that have traded in red, blue, white for green, black and white (as an example). But, there aren't many ... I was trying to make a list of teams in the NBA, NHL, MLB and NFL, I know I didn't catch them all, so I'd love the boards help.
  19. World Series, SuperBowl, Stanley Cup, etc. Probably something that has been talked ad nauseam, but I'm still curious. e.g. Super Bowl XLV: Jets vs. Bears - Mainly for the hilariousity factor. 2 teams that have been a joke for the past few decades facing each other in a Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLII: Patriots vs. Packers - Mainly because we never got a great Brady vs. Favre game. 2001 World Series: Mariners vs. D-Backs - Best team the Mariners had during the KG jr era, would have been nice to see them go all the way after setting that win record. Also Nintendo owning a championship sports team.
  20. New to the forum, but I've been a lurker for a while now. Being that I am a Titans fan and that there has been quite a bit of talk about them and their new uniforms lately I figured I would give things a shot. This is not how I envision them to do things at all, but more like how I would do it i it were up to me. I did take a few design cues away from some of the sneak peaks though. Going off of there "Tradition Evolved" campaign motto, I did just that by merging a similar styling and color scheme with some modern updates. Let me know what you think. AWAY HOME COLOR RUSH
  21. What up folks it's been a long time since I last posted something in the Concepts' forum. What l got here to show ya is my take for TNF. We all know that the whole "color rush" program has been criticized for long and that some teams are tryna sneak out of it ( see : my Fins wearing all white vs the all purple Ravens even if orange and purple don't clash ; or the redskins wearing all burgundy instead of their all-yellow CR look) , but i think that this is a great idea to switch things up a lil bit , if done correctly. Personally , i hate the fact that in 2016 only 2 outta 14 (and in 2017 4 outta 13 ) "supposed" CR games were actually color vs color matchups. So, i think back in December 2016, i started creating my own list of CR unis , to create more color vs color games and to make even the color vs white games more interesting from a jerseys' point of view. HERE ARE THE RULES: 1) each team gets a "color" uni and a "whiteout" uni 2) i know it sucks , but i kept the one-helmet rule. Team can switch decals tho if they want to 3) helmet logos sometimes are modified to create a different look from the "normal" one . Some helmets will have logos that look something like this , you know , just to mix things up 4) The home team always wears the colored uniforms. If the opponent's color clashes, then the opponent is allowed to use its special "whiteout" CR uni 5) Home team has to paint the field in full CR style (you'll see) Without further ado , let's roll. I'm going to post by division , 2 teams at a time . (note that since I've done these in the last year/year and a half, some players may have changed team, i already tell ya that i didn't wanna fix those unis so i didn't) Starting with AFC WEST LOS ANGELES CHARGERS As much as i love their current CR uniforms, i think yellow suits more the CR overall idea, so i went with that. The colored uni gets a yellow facemask, while the whiteout gets a white one and a number on the side of the helmet . The whiteout has all the yellow removed from the uniform except for the logo on the helmet. The field follows the yellow style of the colored uniforms (as all the fields do) , even the center-field logo gets the yellow facemask LAS VEGAS RAIDERS They gon move in 2020 if not even in 2019 so i already used the LV name. Color uni is a blackout , and this is the first Oregonesque helmet logo that y'all get to see. The whiteout is basically their current CR uniform (which is a fauxback) but gets a throwback logo on the helmet What y'all think ? Am i off to a good start ? KC and DEN up next after some C&C
  22. Well, apparently there's this thing called training camp going on, so let's get this thread started, shall we? P.S. I had thought about subtitling this thread "New England and the 31 dwarves", but decided against it.
  23. It seems like every year as details trickle out that teams are getting new uniforms, some random 'source' pops up claiming to have seen the uniform in question and provides an over the top description that sends this board into a frenzy. Maybe it's not a good idea to enable these rumors with mock ups but I thought it would be fun to take these crazy ideas and make concepts out of them. Cleveland Browns The rumor: White helmets, 'total overhaul' Added numbers to the helmet, reversed the number/shadow colors on the home and away. Took the notched stripe design from their current look and kept it floating within the sleeve a la OK State/extended it further down the pant leg so that it's almost a full stripe again. White striped socks for all, orange alt, and white fauxback for the Color Rush. Denver Broncos The rumor: the Color Rush jersey becomes the primary Kept the logo and number font from the current look, brightened the colors back to their earlier shades, added white and blue jerseys/pants. Orange remains the Color Rush. Here's every Broncos concept on this board ever Denver: Thanks for checking these out, I have a few more that I'll be posting in a bit.
  24. I had started a thread in the sports logos section a few months back in regards to this design. I recently made contact with someone from LSUA who advised me they did not choose any of the entries they received for their contest. So with that being said I can now go ahead and post my work. The idea behind this concept was to use a TIGER to create a link between LSUA and LSU while introducing a fresh interpretation that would connect to the Generals nickname. Secondary and tertairy marks were added to further tie in to the Generals home and location while also making it a complete set. Check em out and let me know what you all think. Appreciate everyone's C&C. Thanks for stopping by!
  25. My not sure that the concept section is the best place to start this thread but I figured it would be more useful here then anywhere else on this forum. If it should be somewhere else, like in the sports logos section, Mods please move it to the appropriate place then. On to the thread... This is a database of fonts used by sports teams and leagues. This is NOT a "name this font" thread like this one. If you need to know the name of a font post it there. How the thread is organized... 1. There will be post that are sport/league specific (ex. one post might just have Pro Football, one might have Colleges, etc). 2. The team's font will be listed like this: 'Team Name''Year Introduced' '(Name of Font At It Would Appear In A Program)' - 'Link to Download Font' Example: California Golden Bears 2013 (Golden Bear) - https://fontsbyconrad.wordpress.com/2014/07/28/college-misc-fonts-pack-4/ 3. $$$ before the link means I was unable to find a free version on that font to download so you have to pay for it. 4. The fonts could be from a logo, uniform number, wordmark, etc. 5. If there is no year, then I didn't know the year it was introduced 6. If there is no parentheses with the font name, then it is the exact same name as the team name part. If you know a team font that isn't included or an error is posted, please post with appropriate information. Obviously there are a lot of links to Conrad's sports fonts site so thanks again to him for making all the fonts that he does. Do not use fonts that were created for personal use only for other reasons. Finally, fonts like Serpentine, City Bold, Aachen, and Copperplate are way over used in sports. NFL-CFL NBA MLB-MiLB NHL-AHL-ECHL Soccer NCAA-Colleges Nike Adidas Under Armour-Russell Athletic-Warrior Sports Rawlings-Richardson Caps-Other *****EDIT (7/30/16): Sorry but Conrad's fonts are no longer available for use.***** http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/108718-what-happened-to-conrads-fonts/?do=findComment&comment=2633407
