  1. Today while poking around in all the post-Super Bowl recaps and so forth I saw something that caught my attention - something which I somehow missed: evidently for at least four years ago, the NFL changed the Pete Rozelle Super Bowl MVP Trophy... Old: Current: Was XLIX the first year of this change?
  2. Finally got some time to mess around with these hockey uniform templates. I thought I'd try doing hockey uniform versions of the 4 final teams in the NFL playoffs. Never did a mash up before so thought I'd try it out. Wanted to see what the thoughts were. It's the Patriots, Jaguars, Vikings and Eagles. I took various parts of the design from elements of the football uniform, IE: Pant shell stripes from pants, socks from socks or sleeve striping and jersey elements influenced by the elements on the football jerseys. Really enjoyed doing these and experimenting a bit. I didn't change/adjust any of the team logos. I just used the versions that the teams use in the NFL. Hopefully this works.
  3. Hey everyone, With the regular season coming to a close and the playoffs gearing to start, I figured now would be a good time to post a project that I've been working on the past couple of months: an NFL Tweaks Series. This series will operate in a similar fashion to my original MLB Tweaks, with me only changing the elements of each team's identity that I find necessary. Here are some rules I went by that I figure you all should know going in: -This is an unpopular opinion, but I really do not like the use of gray facemasks on helmets, when that color cannot be found anywhere else in the identity. So you'll likely be seeing a lot of those go. -I decided to keep the idea of Color Rush uniforms, since the NFL is still technically employing it as a program. However, I decided to add a personal rule: that being the socks must always match the color of the helmet. For some teams, that leaves them with their completely monochrome looks, for others, it makes the use of entirely one color a bit less gaudy. -I'm also going to try to follow the one-helmet rule, as conceptually to maintain brand strength it's not a bad idea. -As with the MLB, the overall goal was to modernize the looks of the NFL in a clean, classic way. -Some big inspirations that I can think off throughout the making of this were Jesse Alkire's NFL series as well as @bkknight95's series, so a lot of credit goes to both of them. -I'll be posting in alphabetical order, two teams at a time. Hopefully I'll be able to have all the teams posted before the Super Bowl. So the first teams up are two that have been stuck in the early 2000's piping trend for quite a while now, the Cardinals and the Falcons. First up being the Arizona Cardinals! Logos -The primary & helmet logo stays the same, the cardinal head is a great logo. -All of the copper elements have to do with Color Rush, as you'll see in the uniforms... Uniforms -Right off the bat, it's clear that the Arizona flag was a huge inspiration in the design, with the sunrise pattern occupying the sleeve caps and the pants stripe. It also sort of has the effect of feathers, while also mimicking the multiple stripes on some of the Cardinals' inaugural uniforms. -I decided to go with sharper, more angular numbers in order to mimic the claws of a bird. -Although the primary home and away sets are the combinations shown above, the Cardinals could also wear the red pants occasionally on the road, and vice versa. -I'm not really big on the Cardinals having a black alternate, but I figured it looked "cool" with the added red & yellow. This alternate would only be used at most once a year. -The Color Rush set embraces a color that only Arizona could own: a nice shade of copper, as seen on the flag. I know it might look a little out there, but for me at least it was better than black, and embraced the entire state. Next up, here are the Atlanta Falcons! Logos -I decided to take silver out of the color scheme, and just focus on black and a bright scarlet red. The primary loses some cluttered outlines, and the helmet becomes red, as I'll explain more in the uniform section. Uniforms -I decided to go with the red helmet for the Falcons since it helps them stand out more in a division filled with black. I also think it goes better with both the red primary and black alternate jersey. -I went with a number font based on the current wordmark font, much like many Falcons concepts do. -For the striping pattern, I went with one that mimics the feather angles of the primary logo but also has some precedence in Atlanta's early history. This allows the uniform to be sharp & modern while still rooted in tradition. -For the Color Rush, I went all-red but with black numbers in order to sort of dull down all the bright red present. The striping is also slightly recolored. That's what I've got for the moment, I hope you guys are looking forward to this and I'd love to hear what you think.
  4. What throwbacks from the big four major sports(NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) that hasn't been seen before do you want to see in a game, a season, or for now on? Here's my first pick: The NFL's Tennessee Titans going with wearing the mid to late '60s Houston Oilers uniforms for a game would be cool to see, but that's me.
  5. Imgur Album Links: Saints Steelers Cowboys Chargers Rams Falcons Packers Jaguars Patriots Eagles With the NFL Playoffs starting today, I decided to mock up some ideas I had for a three NFL Teams: the Saints, Steelers, and Cowboys. I loved the color rush uniforms for both the Saints and Steelers; ideas from both are implemented in these concepts. For the Saints, the concept basically is their color rush; there is no reason they shouldn't adopt that look full time. I simplified their helmet logo a bit and brought back the Louisiana state outline logo as a chest patch. In addition to the white jerseys taken from the color rush set, the concept includes a black jersey with gold-white-gold-white-gold stripes as well as a gold jersey with b-w-b-w-b stripes. An alternate white helmet idea is also shown; it would only be used if the NFL were to lift the one helmet rule, obviously.
  6. We've already had multiple threads about the best-looking uni matchups in Super Bowl history. With the conference title games upon us today, let's look at some of the best ALMOST Super Bowl matchups. The rules are: 1. Both teams were in their respective conference title games that season. 2. One or both lost said title games. 3. They have never played each other in a Super Bowl in any year. 4. The pic posted shows the most likely uniform matchup if they had played that year. Here are a few: Super Bowl XIV (1979 season) - Oilers vs. Buccaneers: Super Bowl XV (1980 season) among MANY others - Raiders vs. Cowboys (pic actually from 1980 season): Super Bowl XX (1985 season) - Dolphins vs. Bears (pic actually from 1985 season): Super Bowl XIV (1989 season) - Broncos vs. Rams: Super Bowl XXVIII (1993 season), the fourth time in a six-year span that both these teams were in their respective title games together; in fact, one or the other appeared in seven straight Super Bowls, but never both - Bills vs. 49ers:
  7. Hello all! With the college football season all but over, it's time to look to the NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns completed their winless season and have the first overall pick as well as the 4th overall pick (from the Texans). Sam Darnold appears to be on a fast track to Cleveland, so here he is in a Browns jersey. This is my first ever jersey swap and I would love to get all of your guys' thoughts on what i can improve. More guys to come! Thanks for looking. ORIGINAL: JERSEY SWAP:
  8. It's the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, Thats right. Last year I made ugly christmas sweater themed wallpapers for various sports teams. I'm opening it again. If you have and requests please let me know. I will also post all the ones from last year so there won't be any duplicates.
  9. I'm doing a sweep through of the NFL and making adjustments where I see fit to the existing uniforms. Some teams may get substantial redesigns, and some teams may receive minor tweaks. I do not see a need to limit the jersey combinations, so many teams will have alternates and throwbacks, or potentially even multiple throwbacks. I will however, maintain the single helmet shell rule. So without further adeu, I'm starting off with the Giants.
  10. A series of female-themed designs inspired by NFL team logos - apparel coming soon! 11. As a Dolphins fan, it gives me no particular thrill to upgrade the logo/uniform set of the team that beats up on us twice a year, but the current Pats set has felt stale- even if, in its own right, it has become a classic. The silver with New England's helmet and piping (and, yes, at one point, alternate jersey) has always felt kind of odd, but they've really made it their own- the winning they've done in the post-Bledsoe unis have all but solidified this set as a classic, irrespective of its aesthetic merits. The Pat Patriot logo, though, still seems to have a particular resonance with Boston sports fans, and in an attempt to have my cake and eat it too, I did a sort of cross-blend of eras by updating the Pat Patriot logo but keeping the sensibilities of the current set. Would love to hear thoughts! Logo: Home: Road: Alternate:
  12. I really like the look of team specific ugly Christmas sweaters with the snowflakes, Reindeer and other Christmas related imagery but I could never justify spending the 80 dollars for something I'm only going to wear one month a year. So I decided to use my photoshop knowledge to make ugly Christmas sweater themed wallpapers for my friends and I. Here are some I've made so far let me know your thoughts.
  13. Hi all, I got bored one-day and decided to use Nike's teambuilder website to re-design some NFL uniforms Up first: The Carolina Panthers I like Carolina's design right now. Simple and clean. I wanted to keep that going and add a little to it. The home jerseys stay black with white numbers and a light blue outline. However I added the Panthers across front in light blue and put some light blue sleeves on it. Also a light blue/white stripe across the middle. The away jersey follows the same design as the home jersey with a some color swaps to fit the jersey. The alt light-blue jersey also works as the color rush jersey. Let me know what you guys think! Next up will be the Arizona Cardinals
  14. This has basically been a one-man quest. Although I never truly seeked out validation, I like to think I got a measure of it last year when Mississippi State decided to dress like the Patriots for their game in Foxborough. So, after a while on the sidelines, I'm back in the saddle, as... Since it's been a while, here's a refresher of the basic rules I impose on myself for these things: Pick X number of players, usually four. The main aim is to see what said players' college unis would look like in their pro styles, and vice versa. Whenever possible, only uniform styles and logos in use when the player was in college/with the NFL team in question will be used. Every now and then, a semi-original logo must be created, or an older logo put into use, to achieve what I'm aiming for. Same goes for number fonts in most cases. Throwbacks are included in this rule. I may occasionally forget a small detail or two. It happens. If a uniform that either predates or postdates a player's time at his school/team is sufficiently awesome enough, at my discretion I might waive rule #3, also known as the Woodson Exception (after Charles Woodson). I figured I'd lead off with Mr. Last Second Pass to Win the National Championship. With apologies to Metta Ron Panda, we welcome the One Tru Warier to C2P. I know one thing. The Browns' style was trickier than it has any right to be...kinda like the Lions' blue is rarer than it should be. And now we close things out with the Bald One
  15. Tweaked the Bills' logo so that it looks like a bison, by actually looking at a bison. Their current look has been a decent facsimile for many years, but in the HD world we need better.
  16. So I saw the rumors that Jacksonville is coming to their senses and getting new uniforms, which undoubtedly means that the world's ugliest helmet will soon be no more. Ugly bucket aside, I personally think that the Jags are a few tweaks away from actually having a decent uniform set. So I decided to layout what I think those tweaks should be: I think that the Jaguars currently look good from the neck down, so there aren't a whole lot of changes to be made but there are some. Let's break them down shall we? Helmet - Do I really need to introduce the incumbent? I changed the disasterpiece that was the helmet to one from the past. I brought back the old black helmet that looks teal in the right light. Kept the jaguar logo on the side, added the JAGS shield logo to the back of the helmet. IMO, it's a decent logo, but doesn't need to take up chest space on the jerseys. Jerseys - The jerseys as they are now really aren't bad to me, in fact I think that they take too much heat from how much the helmet sucks. First off, as I mentioned above, the JAGS patch moves to the helmet. Those weird shoulder designs get taken off and the "claw mark" if you want to call it that, gets moved inside the collar. The teal jersey becomes the home jersey again with the appropriate white numbers. I like the number font, so I kept it. Added the JAGUARS wordmark to the chest and the primary logo to the sleeves so they weren't blank any more. Pants - I didn't change much. I moved the jaguar head from the side of the pants to the front right. It feels cleaner to me. I knocked around the idea of a different pant design, but nothing else really seemed to fit with the design. Socks - Teal and Black. No need for anything on them. And since the NFL is keeping Color Rush around: So as cool as the gold CR uniform was for them (IMO, I didn't hate it completely), I went with teal as the base color since it's more unique of a color to them than black is. So for the first time in team history, teal pants would be worn. Let me know what you guys think.
  17. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/imagine-nfl-soccer-style-relegation-023418506.html Interesting story about what the NFL would look like in a relegation/promotion setup. The only part that definitely doesn't work is having NFL, CFL, AFL, and NCAA teams in a playoff, but maybe the bottom 4 play for the #1 pick?
  18. Years ago, I submitted a series of Australian Rules Football jumpers of each National Football League team. Today, I present an updated series of NFL Aussie Rules jumpers that include an away change set of jumpers for each team. So lets get started! We'll start with the AFC East. Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins New England Patriots New York Jets
  19. In what is quite possibly the most ambitious undertaking I have found myself engaged with in my 5 years here on the CCSLC, I initially found myself bored and doing nothing in Art History 101 and I was struck with an idea I had seen knocked around here once or twice: the NFL's 100th anniversary, which is 5 years away from the current season (Provided my math hasn't been wrong, the 100th anniversary season is 2020-2021). The redesigns in this thread will follow what happened in my previous NFL series, NFL Redesign 2014, so the mess that Tampa rolled out and the clown suits that Cleveland struts around in never happened. Ok, enough of my rambling. For the NFL's 100th anniversary logo set, there is no gold, no silver, no frills. I wanted to keep it clean so here's what came out: I didn't want to change too much, but wanted things to be different enough that people would notice. Now for the uniforms. Every team will have the normal home and away jerseys No alternate jerseys or helmets will be worn this seasons. Alt pants are ok. Every team will have 2 straight throwbacks, or 2 fauxbacks. Teams will wear the throwbacks/fauxbacks 8 times this season. Along side that, I will be also posting the sketches I've based all these on, which is something I've never done before. Ok, I've talked enough. Here's Dallas. (Going by divisions this time) The Pro Combats Dallas unveiled were a big hit among Cowboys fans, and so Dallas changed after their last uniform change wasn't so well recieved. (The NFL logo is replaced by the 100 logo this year). Brushed silver helmet, star on side, nothing too major. Navy and white jerseys, with stripes and stars on the shoulder, number on sleeves. New number font. Grey pants, pretty much unchanged. New font: Basically took the throwback font and straightened it out. Now the throwbacks Not sure the Cowboys have ever looked better than these uniforms, which come from their first season in 1960. I realise I gave you a lot to swallow in the first post, hopefully they aren't as lengthy. C and C welcome as always.
  20. So, I found the original Minnesota Vikings logo used from 1961-1965. I think this one looks better and cleaner than the current one displayed, and was wondering if we could update it. This is not a custom design by myself, it is the original logo designed by Karl Hubenthal in 1961.
  21. WESTEROS FOOTBALL LEAGUE What's up everyone. For my first post I am proud to present a project I have been working on for quite a bit. If you're a fan of Game of Thrones and the NFL, then this may be for you. The project takes the question, "What if Westeros had its own professional football league?", and brings it to life. For those that are unfamiliar, Westeros is the main continent of the World of Ice and Fire, and the setting of the very popular HBO show, Game of Thrones. Based off the best-selling book series by George RR Martin, Game of Thrones just wrapped up its seventh season. With the NFL season starting, I thought it would be a great time to present this series. Without further ado, here it is. THE TEAMS Each team is based off one of the major houses in Westeros. The teams' uniforms and branding draw from different aspects of each house such as the house sigil, the house words, characters attire, and more. You may also notice some teams draw inspiration from NFL teams as well. I have decided to begin with twelve teams to keep things simple, however, there is definitely the possibility of expanding beyond that in the future. The North Castle Black Crows Bear Island Bears Winterfell Direwolves The East Eyrie Falcons Dragonstone Dragons Storm's End Stags The West Pyke Kraken Clegane's Keep Kennel Lannisport Lions The South Riverrun Trout Highgarden Flowers Sunspear Sandsnakes
  22. Here's a Las Vegas Outlaws Rebrand I just wrapped up. I may do other XFL teams in the far future but enjoy this for now
  23. I always come across cool sports memorabilia and never know where to post it, so I figured this topic deserves its own thread! Post any unique sports memorabilia you find, whether it is online or from your own personal collection! This item is up on eBay and I found it super interesting... a team-issued jersey, custom-made for Angie Harmon, the now-ex-wife of Jason Sehorn: Probably a gift from the team after this awesome TV moment:
  24. I've begun collecting logos that I'd like to update. The first one I did was an old amateur hockey team logo, and I posted it here. This time I thought I'd try to get a bit more elaborate. Here's what I started with: And here's my update: Let me know what you think! PS: here's the rest of the logos I'm currently going to try to work with: pinboard. Let me know if there's one in particular from there you'd like to see or if you have any suggestions. I'm not currently planning on doing requests like Ren, but I'll definitely consider suggestions.
  25. Simply put ... the thread is of scrubs (or lesser caliber players) in jersey numbers a same team where an All-Star or HOF made that same number their own. Here are a few examples from the NBA ... E.C. Coleman, New Orleans Jazz Sidney Green; San Antonio Spurs Steve Kuberski; Boston Celtics Cazzie Russell; Los Angeles Lakers Rowland Garrett; Chicago Bulls.
