  1. With the announcement that the Vegas Golden Knights would indeed be getting a gold colored alternate uniform next season, I wanted to throw my hand at what I think could be a good alternate look for them. Here's a little bit of detail behind the thought process of this uniform. - I wanted to use the 8-pointed star silhouette somewhere on the uniform - I tried using the sword-star alternate logo on the front, but IMO it just doesn't work as a jersey crest - I wanted to have every color involved, which explains the splash of grey on the bottom of the striping - I wanted to have a "V" somewhere, which is why the hem is in that shape - I wanted to use a different font for the numbers. What better one to use than Casino Flat? C&C is appreciated! BTW please let me know if the image is not appearing.
  2. I've never posted a hockey concept before. I just recently got a template together, so I thought I'd try it out. I had a lot of fun making it. Thoughts?
  3. I have started a new NHL redesign that I have been posting on Reddit so far on r/hockeyjerseys but figured I would share here too. I have done 4 teams so far, which I will post here right away, and will be working through the other 28 at whatever pace I can get through them at. Open to feedback, but please be aware that I am not necessarily trying to make what I think the team should wear, or will wear, just being creative and killing time. Enjoy!!
  4. *** I can’t seem to find the perfect color calibration on my laptop that I use for these, so PLEASE let me know if a color seems to differ from my explanation or what would seem logical to you. I made my own template for the very first time ( A TON of trial and error). (* Used the sportstemplates.net jerseys as a reference, and traced most of the elements from them.) I always believe that a team's identity lives in it's primary logo. One of my goals is to have uniform sets that compliment and use aspects of the logo in order to create a uniform that makes sense. As you will see in my following posts, I will place the teams current jerseys at the top, and my designs underneath. Pretty straightforward. ***For now I will just be doing Home and Away versions because the possibilities are endless for Alternates, so I chose to focus on just two jerseys per team at this time. I will try to adhere to the one pants color / style but that may change. I'm avoiding doing shoulder logos for now until I really get the ball rolling on this concept. -------------------------------------------- BOSTON BRUINS I know most everybody thinks of the Bruins uniform setup as perfect, but I see it as something that personally could be executed better. Not saying that I will accomplish this, but I'll try. 1 - Thickened the logo overall and replaced the black "B" with a gold one. (Both choices where not something I felt was necessary in the grand scheme of this, but I wanted to add a little bit more of a modern feel to my Bruins concept.) 2 - For the striping, I wanted to follow the actual striping and color pattern that is found in the logo, so I made the sleeve and sock stripes the same thickness as in the logo, along with making the stripe yellow with the black trim followed by white. 3 - The thick black collar followed by the gold is meant to mimic the black circle followed by the gold trim on the outside of the logo. 4 - Added the gold stripe at the bottom of the jersey for color balance. -------------------------------------------- WINNIPEG JETS 1 - Overhauled the primary logo and team's colors. I wanted a darker blue to try and bring out the bright blue (left the same). 2 - I'm sure there is significance to the double-strips on the current Jet's uniforms, but in order to follow along with the primary logo, I changed things up. 3 - Not sure if this set seems a little bottom heavy? Especially on the home uniforms... -------------------------------------------- OTTAWA SENATORS VERSION 01: VERSION 02: 1 - Switch from the current primary logo to: "(Alternate Logo 2007/08 - Pres)" as the primary. 2 - New shades of Red and "Gold". 3 - Used a darker shade of red on the Home Jersey, with the brighter red from the logo acting as an accent along with the gold. -------------------------------------------- FLORIDA PANTHERS VERSION 01: VERSION 02: 1 - Modified the primary logo. I felt the "Florida / Panthers" for the current home and away just take too much from the overall look. 2 - Tried to pinch and pull the logo to make the panther feel more "proud" and as if it were standing / sitting taller. 3 - Tried to make the colors a mixture of the teams original red and blue (well a representation of it), along with the tan. -------------------------------------------- COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS VERSION 01: VERSION 02: 1 - Switch to the alternate cannon logo as the primary. 2 - Removed red from the color scheme and made bright blue a complimentary color to the dark blue. 3 - Couldn't find the exact match for the teams newer (2017) font but I did my best. 4** - I get what everyone is saying about adding red and even though it might make the uniforms pop a little more, I plan to darken the blue for the New York Rangers and I feel that both teams would wind up looking too similar. Columbus loses seniority in this case so that played a huge part in my decision to remove the red. This is especially something I want to avoid with teams in the same division (Boston and Pittsburgh will probably be my only exception due to the long history of both teams.) Red will however, be prominent in the alternate uniforms. I hope everyone gets where I'm coming from here...
  5. So during the current stay at home order in place I've decided to sit down and take a crack redesigning the NHL's uniforms A-Z. This is some of my first concept work I've ever done in my 10 years of designing as a hobby so I would love some constructive criticism to help me refine my skills. The template that is the basis of the entire series was created by Avi S. and Ryan H. (No relation) and edited in many cases to fit my need for the work I wanted to do, that template can be found here. My presentation for the concepts was inspired by a few redesign series I stumbled across browsing the forums credit to those series for giving me some direction on how I wanted to show off the work I've done. That being said, with the way I want this series to go I made a conscience decision to not include gear when redesigning the teams, I found adding gear cluttered my presentation and made it look too busy, my focus is only on the sweaters. Now on to the actual designs.
  6. Decided to have a crack at making my own concepts thread here, see how I can improve and tinker with my design skills and sensibilities. All of my concepts are going to be using the Adizero template made by Steven over on HockeyJerseyConcepts, for clarity's sake; it's my template of choice for hockey jerseys. First up are the Tampa Bay Lightning. I'm sure many of us are not exactly fans of Tampa's current identity, namely the colors and logo, so I decided to revamp the team's identity a bit. My main goal with these jerseys was to try and make the team more visually distinct from Toronto when it comes to color layout. If you have any ideas on how to improve them, feel free to reply and tell me; I'm open to suggestions as to how to tweak these. For sweeping changes, I've gone ahead and replaced the current primary logo with it's previous equivalent; I chose the late-00's logo because it was modern enough to work without being overly simple like the oft-maligned current logo, plus it didn't have the (in my opinion) outdated text style of the original Tampa logo. The secondary logo remains the same as it is currently. For colors; the blue has gone from Toronto-lite to a more vibrant electric blue, tying into the team's name. Black is now the secondary color again, with the top of the jersey being predominantly black with blue and white as accents to firmly set a new chromatic identity for the franchise. Jersey text and numbers are primarily white, with the numbers and front letters having blue and black outlining. Obviously, the away jersey is pretty similar to the home jersey, just with some of the colors flipped about; white replaces blue, blue replaces black, black replaces white. I think it looks pretty nice, though; the added black makes the jersey less monochromatic and the electric blue really pops. The jersey text and numbers are black with blue bordering to keep them easily legible at a distance. The third jersey uses the oh-so-beloved "BOLTS" wordmark on a black jersey. Blue is the secondary color, while white is pushed to a tertiary accent alongside the new addition of a silvery-gray color. The outlines of the numbers and front letter are now silver, as well.
  7. Columbus Blue Jackets Stripes inspired by Ohio Flag St. Louis Blues Based on their 2017 winter classic jersey Washington Capitals Features 13 stripes on the front of the jersey
  8. Anaheim Ducks Hybrid Uniform Redesign. I personally like the Webfoot D logo the Anaheim Ducks use on their uniforms. But I HATE their current colors. The only color that kind of makes sense to me is the orange because they play in Orange County. So I did some readjusting of the colors keeping the orange and then bring back the original plum purple and teal green colors. Then tweaked the current uniforms with the webfoot D logo and this is what I came up with. I personally think it's an improvement and would not mind the Ducks doing something like this starting next year.
  9. In my desert states Winter Classic concept post, another user here mentioned doing a Florida one. I had remembered seeing this behance gallery for one at Disney world but in my opinion the jerseys in it seemed more appropriate for a Stadium Series instead of a Winter Classic, so I decided to do my own. Yes, I am aware it gets hot in Florida, even in the winter, but like I said in my desert Winter Classic concept, if the NHL could put an outdoor game in Vegas in the 90s, they can do it better now. First the host team: I based the Lightning jersey on the EHL’s Jacksonville/Florida Rockets jersey from 1967/68. Just like the Preds based their Winter Classic jersey this year on the Dixie Flyers jersey from the same era. If you look close, the numbers on their backs were blue for some reason which made them disappear into their stripe a bit. I’ve changed that on my concept, but I think they were able to get away with it because they centered their numbers in the stripe since they didn’t have names on the back. The Rockets also had 8 stars on the front of their jersey, so I half seriously replaced them with lightning bolts in my concept, but they don’t look great to say the least, so I will probably leave them out. I think the stripes need adjusting before I finalize this render with textures and stuff but overall I’m pretty happy with the direction this one is going. And now the visitors: Keeping with the theme, I based the Panthers jersey on the concept for the WHA’s charter member Miami Screaming Eagles, who never took the ice in Miami but were immediately moved to Philly because they couldn’t find an adequate stadium. The Screaming Eagles were the first attempt to bring pro hockey to south Florida, and I think this is a good enough looking jersey to give it another shot to see the ice. Please let me know what you think or where anything can be improved, I’m working on a Winter Classic logo now, and the Wide World of Sports at Disney world seems like the obvious choice for a location, but there may be a better location I’m not thinking of, and that would obviously change the logo.
  10. N.B. This post is originally on @sparky chewbarky's thread 'Battle of Seattle'. All the things I post there will be mentioned in my threat. Thank you for reading this. Heyo everyone. FC Macbeth here with another concept. This time concerning with the Seattle expansion in the NHL. While there are some good suggestions and spectacular jersey designs, here is my own version of Seattle's identity and main set. IMHO, Seattle should call itself the 'Emeralds' as a tie in to the city's nickname 'Emerald City'. 'Sockeyes' feels too Minor League Baseball-like, and same goes with 'Kraken' (though it might grow with me later). Meanwhile, aviation-themed names (Aviators, Pilots etc.) are decent enough to be worthy in the NHL and 'Rainiers' has some potential to go well with the fans since it pays tribute to a baseball team. However, for what its worth, I always go for the Emeralds. GO EMS' GO! The main colour choice will be greenish-blue and double green. Y'know, classic Seattle scheme. For the primary logo, I combine two things: The shape of Mount Rainier on the top and the shape of the emerald at the bottom. Inside Mount Rainier, there is a Space Needle and four pine trees from both sides, each representing four influential Seattle hockey franchises; the Metropolitans, the Breakers, the Totems and the Thunderbirds (currently playing). The secondary logo is derived from the emblem from the flag of Seattle stylised with the letters 'S' and 'E' while the alternate logo goes with a simple route. It's just the letter 'E' fused together with the pine tree. Now, here comes the jersey. The striping pattern that I made is entirely random that I made while playing around with the designs. All I did is just make the stripes jagged (perhaps a tribute to the logging industry in Seattle). The font I used is from the Connecticut Whales. Well, I want to give the Ems' a unique identity on its own. As for the NOB, the home jersey is worn by David 'Doc' Maynard who changed the name from Duwamps to Seattle in 1853 as a tribute to Chief Seattle (which the city is named after). The road jersey is worn by Bill Gates who founded Microsoft in 1975. C&C appreciated!
  11. Hello Everyone!!... Well, it's WinterClassic time, when the NHL celebrates the outdoor roots of its great game. Several weeks ago, a "polar vortex" drifted down from the north and froze our nuts off for a week or so. The upside to the freeze was that we scored a couple of days of outside shinny on the pond behind us, before warmer temps returned to melt our rink. Man, there's nothing like strappin' on the blades and playing some pond-hockey. The NHL has scored big on its outdoor "WinterClassic". It's HUGELY popular. It's become a New Year's Day bucket-list event and destination. The players appear to enjoy it also. This isn't a concept, per se...it's actually something I put together for my kids. I fleshed-out the idea using mostly images lifted off the net...but the words are all original and all mine. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great New Year's everyone, and enjoy the WinterClassic... sparky
  12. It's going to be a long season as a Devils fan, so I decided to start doing some concepts in my free time. For the Devils, I just wanted to make a couple fixes to a decent effort and play around with a black third jersey and returning the heritage jersey to the red.
  13. Hello! I just want to start a concept topic about a mashup of logos of the franchises from each city. The result will be a logo for each city (in NY and LA two logos) representing the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS teams. So, this is the first one: Los Angeles (part I). -City: Los Angeles -Colours: Los Angeles Lakers colours (purple (#552583 ) and gold (#fdb927) -LA letters from the Los Angeles Lakers jersey logo -Ram head from the Los Angeles Rams logo -'Los Angeles' name from the Los Angeles Dodgers jersey logo -Baseball from the Los Angeles Dodgers logo -Crown from the Los Angeles Kings logo -Shape from the LA Galaxy logo Thank you for your time here.
  14. Last year, there was a lot of discussion about Houston as a new market for the NHL. If the city was to get a team, it would make the most sense to revive the name Aeros after the successful WHA franchise (1972-78) and later AHL franchise (1994-2013). The original Aeros wore blue and powder blue with AEROS diagonally across the front of both jerseys. Today, the team would need to share the Toyota Center with the Rockets, who are historically a red clad team. The arena follows this color scheme having red seats. In order to match the arena, tie into the history of the name, and avoid looking like the division rival Jets, the Aeros are a red team with navy and powder blue secondary colors. These colors also connect to the other professional sports teams in the area as the Texans wear navy and red and the Astros wear orange and navy. The team's primary logo features a roundel with the team name in white with a navy border on a powder blue background with a WWII era plane over a red circle. The secondary logo is a roundel with a star reminiscent of various US military aircraft, but with an A over top of the star. The home uniform features a red jersey with the primary logo on the front, sleeve stripes which an homage to the Texas state flag with the player's number taking the place of the star, and and hem striping which omits the bottom powder blue and navy stripes since the striping is very thick. The helmet is red with AEROS on the side and the pants are navy with one white and one red stripe down the side. The white uniform uses the same striping on the jersey as the red one plus it retains the red shoulders. The alternate uniform is navy and takes aspects of the WHA team's uniforms (AEROS diagonally across the front, sleeve striping from the white, hem striping from the blue), but with red included. NOBs are of players from the WHA franchise: Frank Hughes - Most Goals Larry Lund - Most Assists/Points Gordie Howe I'm really interested to see what people think about this. C&C are greatly appreciated! Might have some updates in the near future.
  15. Post your favorite new masks for the 2019-20 season... Quick's new mask is probably my choice: Jack Campbell's new mask is also fantastic...the Kings have a history of great goalie masks over the last 40 years... Cal Petersen's mask is also quite nice, if mostly understated. The throwback crown in black and silver looks good:
  16. The Associated Press is reporting that the NHL Board of Governors has unanimously approved granting an expansion franchise to Seattle, Washington. The team - the NHL's 32nd - will begin play with commencement of the league's 2021-2022 season. NHL adds Seattle as league's 32nd team, play begins in 2021
  17. Hi all, I decided to create a series based off the one I did for the NBA, in which I make alternate jerseys for the NHL that combine most (if not all) the team's brand history into one uniform. I thought this would be a cool way of acknowledging team histories while making unique alternate uniforms for each team (excluding Vegas, since they've only had one logo and uniform set, sorry Golden Knights fans...) I hope y'all enjoy and CC is welcome! Starting off with three: Mighty Ducks of Anaheim/Anaheim Ducks 1990s-Mid 2000s: Front logo Mid 2000s-early 2010s: Sleeve styling Early 2010s-present: Shoulder logos, colors Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes: 1990s-early 2000s: General jersey design early 2000s-early 2010s: Shoulder logo Early 2010s-present: Front logo, colors Boston Bruins: 1950s: Color, sleeve design 1960s-80s: Front logo coloring, shoulder design, neck coloring 2000s-present: Front logo design, shoulder logo Going in alphabetical order by city, so that'll be the order.
  18. I'm chcarlson23, and I'm looking to start an NHL series here on the boards. I've been designing lots of stuff for a while now, and have even started a few series here on the boards, but never completed any of them. We'll see if I'm able to this time, as I'm pretty busy with school. Anyways, hope you enjoy! I recently saw an older design of mine for the Anaheim Ducks, and decided to update it a little, then add a road sweater. The only thing is that I can't decide if the road needs a black yoke or not. I've included both here. Let me know what you think about that C&C Appreciated!
  19. What if certain teams/franchises in the NHL never rebranded or moved cities? Many other people have done their own renditions, so I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring too. Starting off, what if the LA Kings never adopted the colors of their then neighbors the LA Raiders? In 1988, at the introductory press conference for Wayne Gretzky no less, the Kings unveiled their brand new logo, jersey, and colors. If they hadn't changed the latter, what would the Great One's jersey have looked like? Rather than just recolor the logo from that era, I took the logo used in promotional materials throughout the '80s and cleaned it up. The speed lines are gone for an overall cleaner look to the KINGS text. The striping pattern on the jersey mimics the outlines of the logo and fits with the aesthetics of the time . Version 1 - Single outlined numbers Version 2 - Double outlined numbers C&C is always appreciated. Tomorrow, the Kings introduce their first alternate jersey!
  20. Heya, everyone! It is I, FC Macbeth, here with the first concept series done by yours truly! Today, with the first post of the series, let me tell you a story. Alright, end of story. Let's start off this series, shall we? BOSTON BRUINS Let's go retro for this Stanley Cup finalist by going ALL GOLD! In fact, let's pay a tribute to the famous Kraut line that gave them two Stanley cups in 1939 and 1941. My basis of this concept is to create an all-gold look while referencing with the past. In this case, it's the 1939 Jersey in a gold variant. All I did is simply double the stripping.for the original and apply it to the socks. The gold breaches also has a stripe on it, which is something Boston has ACTUALLY DONE from 1958 to 1965. I created two versions of the same design. The one of the left is what the original source material looks like: Numbers on the front and the 'Blocked B' logo placed at where the T.V. numbers are normally placed, creating an illusion that resembled a football jersey. Personally, it's unusual compared to the other ones Boston has design and while it didn't look good in terms of its placement, I think it doesn't hurt to try. The one of the right, however, is just your standard typical placement of the logo and the numbers. Not much to say, really. What do you think, guys? Comments and criticisms are welcome. Just try to be civil, okay?
  21. With the Hurricanes unveiling their new away jersey and now having 3 different distinct looking jerseys I've decided to keep their basic looks but having them keep unified parts. All 3 jerseys keep the tonal storm flag stripes and I add them to the sleeves now. Home Away The home and away keep the primary logo on the front. I normally hate nicknames on hockey jerseys but Canes for some reason kind grows on me. However save that for the alternate the home and away for the primary logo. The stripe widths are now constant and I added the storm flags to the home jersey. Third I move "Canes" to the third jersey because I don't like how the storm flags look on the front of the jersey. I also add the sleeve to the hem to keep consistency and removed the storm grey because it just looked wherever I put it.
  22. Around a week ago, the jersey that the Buffalo Sabres will be wearing next year for their 50th season was leaked. I don't think it's great, but it isn't terrible IMO. I tried to fix its issues in this concept. First, I gave it a blue yoke like Buffalo has worn for a long time, and edited to striping so there is no yellow-on-white, and made blue the majority colour. The logo and numbers stay the same. What do you think? C&C is appreciated!
  23. Hi! I've been a longtime reader of CCSLC and I've decided to start posting some of my concepts. I decided to redesign the nhl uniforms for the 2021-2022 season. In this concept I decided to take a page from the NBA and give all 32 teams a third and fourth jersey. Going on with the NBA and soccer, there are no home or away uniforms. They just need to clash (I know this would be tough for equipment managers so my idea is that the away team picks the color so they can just travel with one set) I originally redesigned a few teams logos but in the end I decided I still wanted to keep all the teams with the same general brand they already have or have had. Here's the Atlantic Division: Boston I changed the dark and light to be closer to the Bobby Orr days of the 1960s-70s. The third is a modern take of the B's 1965-67 home uniform. Their 4th jersey pays homage to the first bruins' uniform. Buffalo The dark uniforms are inspired by their heritage third jersey they used to have and the light is their winter classic jersey just with laces. The 4th jersey is in spired by the Buffalo flag. Detroit I keep the dark and light the exact same, the third is a red version of their centennial classic uniforms with the 2014 Winter Classic logo. 4th jersey is inspired by the 1930's away jersey and added the Hockeytown logo. Florida I keep the dark and light the same except for having the same crest on both jerseys, the third is a recolored version of their original navy third jersey. I'll admit this is ripping off the Heat but these are Miami Vice inspired. Montreal The Habs' home jersey is probably my favorite uniform in sports but I've always thought their away jersey was missing something so I added stripes to the sleeves. The third jersey is an inverse of the dark jersey. The 4th jersey is blue to honor the Quebec flag but also honor the Canadiens' history. Ottawa The dark, light and third jerseys are all inspired by the Centennial Classic jerseys which has historical significance to Ottawa. The 4th jersey is the Senators original jerseys. Tampa Bay I added some black to the dark and light. The third jersey is an update to their cup winning uniforms. The 4th jersey are a heathered grey pattern to make a rain storm type pattern. Toronto I make the hem stripe a double stripe to add consistency. The third jersey is inspired by the Arenas throwback and the 4th jersey is inspired by Drake. Thanks so much for viewing and any CC would be appreciated! I'll be posting the Metro soon.
  24. Should NHL teams hang a banner if they won their Division in Postseason Play? (Real life example question: Should the 2018-2019 Carolina Hurricanes put a banner for Metro Division Postseason Champions since they represented the Metro in the Eastern Conference Finals)
  25. Well, I made some random hockey concepts today, based on urban graffiti. With the help of some png images and amateur photoshop done on a mobile, I have made these. Use them as wallpapers, or print them out and pin them on your wall, I honestly don’t care. Let’s start with this year’s contenders for Lord Stanley: So, what do you think?
