  1. With the recent announcement that the Tampa Bay Storm will cease operations. I thought to go back and look at the various looks they have sported throughout their history. The Storm would begin life in Pittsburgh as the green and gold Gladiators, debuting a unique logo that incorporated an arm into the letter. 1987-1990 look Very little would change other than a switch to white pants with a solid green line down the side from gold pants that had a alternating white green stripe in 1988 In 1991, the Gladiators will move to Tampa and ditch the green and gold for blue, black, and silver. It will last from 1991 to 1997 The helmet logo was the Storm wordmark outlined in white minus the Tampa Bay Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of the Storms 90s uniforms was the zubaz. It appears the Storm wore a blue helmet for their road unis The Storm logo on the blue helmet was white with the lightning over the o silver In addition, the Storm had a Chargers-esque black alternate The Storm would introduce gold in 1997 ditching the black, silver, and zubaz for blue and gold. The logo was modified to slant the Storm wordmark and shrunk the Tampa Bay so it can be over the S and T. The most eye catching change was the O which was changed from the old lightning design to be in the shape of an "storm". This look will last from 1997 till 2011 making this their longest lasting look and they tweaked the jerseys quite a bit over the span. Unlike previously, the logo was not modified for the Helmet 1997 uniforms: number in gold outlines with storm wordmark on sleeve. alternating gold blue tsripe 1998 had the blue darkened to navy and a gold dropshadow added no drop shadow on home unis The pants were white for both road and home with alternating gold blue stripes Font for road unis were changed in 2001 with gold outline and black dropshadow (pictured on the right) 2003 saw the addition of a gold side panel and the blue stripe is thinned. storm logo on sleeves. First sign of mono uniforms The Storm made it to the Arenabowl in 2003 and they seemed to have switched out the storm logo on the sleeve for GV on the right side while on the left sleeve, the wordmark was put road unis unchanged outside of storm logo in place of jersey manufacturer, Storm logo is filled in with blue 2004 had the stripes removed and the Storm logo was removed while wordmark is added 2006: drop shadow removed Gold panels reduced to stripes. numbers filled in with gold 2007 brought with it gold numbers and a white outline. numbers are no longer filled in and storm wordmark on top of number in front side Storm wordmark replaced with logo and the stripes are restored with Storm wordmark incorporated into it Road unis have blue numbers with gold outlines and the dropshadow is restored In a rare moment, the Storm did not tweak the unis as far as I know The 2009 AFL season was cancelled but returned for 2010 no changes for 2010 2011 saw the Tampa Bay Storm brighten the blue and gold and tweaking the logo to include a gold drop shadow to the storm and the storm O to more resemble a football. Tampa Bay position is more akin to 90s logo and no longer over S and T The blue helmet and white facemask return, Storm football logo is on sleeve, gold sidepanel on shirt, storm wordmark on front on top of numbers. What really stands out besides other than the brightened colors is the piping which extends from under the armpits down to the pants where it ends in a curve Uniforms remained unchanged until 2015 when they extended piping Piping on white jersey colored yellow so it stands out more Their final season in 2017 will see the complete removal of piping and the panels replaced with slanted panels and diagonal stripes 2017 would also see the glorious return of the zubaz unis
  2. So this is the series I mentioned about in my new look NHL, which now will be going on alongside this series, the AFL-NHL crossover! Australian Rules Football is an amazing sport that I wish had more of a global presence, especially here in Canada. For you folks who don't know what this sport is, here you go. I discovered it two years ago, and am now a proud supporter of the Western Australian teams. This idea came to mind when the folks at HJC started the AIHL (Australian Ice Hockey League) redesign. I'd been wanting to do another crossover series, and everything just clicked. Adelaide Crows (alt) Brisbane Lions Carlton Blues Collingwood Magpies Essendon Bombers Fremantle Dockers (alt) Geelong Cats (alt) Gold Coast Suns GWS Giants (alt) Hawthorn Hawks Melbourne Demons North Melbourne Kangaroos Port Adelaide Power Richmond Tigers St Kilda Saints Sydney Swans West Coast Eagles (update) Western Bulldogs I will be starting off with the two recent grand finalists, Richmond and Adelaide, then going down the ladder (standings). So without further ado, here we go! First off are the newly crowned premiers after 37 years, the Richmond Tigers. The team's jumpers (uniforms) are black with a yellow sash, so I turned it into a chest stripe to fit in with other hockey jerseys. The aways are yellow as a tribute to the jumpers the tigers won the premiership in. The sock stripes are inspired by the team's past home jumpers. The numbers are white like they are on the club's jumpers. C&C appreciated!

  4. Hi guys. This is my modernized version of the current Arena Football League primary mark from 2009. It's no horrible logo at all, but I think it already looks dated. I wanted to keep it simple, with bold lines, easy to reproduce. The alternate mark is the same logo, with AFL written-out underneath. For those who like to take a look at the AFL's current mark: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/116089752009/_Arena_Football_League/2009/Primary_Logo Primary mark on white, navy and red background Alternate mark on different backgrounds
  5. Hola everyone! I've been roaming around the Creamer boards for a little bit to see all the great concepts that everyone is putting out. I thought I'd get in on the action around here and post my first ever concept here on the Creamer boards. I decided to update the Portland Steel AFL team brand and overall design aesthetic. I wasn't too keen on the logo they unveiled a few months ago and thought that it could use some work. I ditched the knight icon for something a bit more appropriate, using instead an actual steel working illustration. I did however like the original colors so I didn't deviate far from that combo. Anywho, comments are welcomed and appreciated. If you'd like to see more goodies from this project, check out the full presentation HERE
  6. Recently it was announced that the Arena Football League will be expanding to Washington DC for the 2017 season and I thought it could be fun to get some ideas flowing on what this team could eventually be called and what potential logos could look like. The team owners are the same group that own the Wizards, Mystics, and Capitals so that might be something to keep in mind about them. The two names I've heard/thought of that I like the best for the team are the Washington Maul, which I read in a Washington newspaper article online, and one I thought of that seems perfect for Arena Football; the Washington Insiders. While I really like both names I had some issues thinking of good logos, but I thought I'd share what I thought of and see if anyone has any ideas for improvements. Feel free to share your ideas on these or post your own names/logos! This was my first thought for the Washington Maul; it's based off a commemorative Centennial Ax that was made in honor of George Washington's election as President (he's known chopping down a cherry tree as a kid). The axe-head shape is based off a pentagon, and the obelisk in the oval is in honor of the Washington Monument in the National Mall at Washington. Here's my first thought for the Insiders. I've found that many 'insider' logos usually have 'In' inside of some sort of box or thought cloud or something so I decided to go along those same lines for this. I chose a pentagon as the outer shape in reference to Washington's Pentagon. It creates a cleaner, more simplistic logo that I think would actually stand out pretty well among other AFL logos.
  7. I have been working on ideas for the NFL's minor league. It was originally named the IFL, but realizing that the idea was already taken, I switched to AFL. And it might confuse you when you ask why. The backstory is that in 1930, the AFL was founded as the IFL with 11 teams. The league was able to keep up with the NFL, as the IFL added more teams when their parent league did. Over time, the league became slowly unstable, and franchise relocations were at an all-time high. In 1970, just like the NFL merged with the AFL, the IFL merged with the AFL's minor league, the WFA, and the 2 leagues now went by the AFL name, with teams as far west as Portland, and as far south as Jacksonville. Today the league has 32 teams, just like the NFL. We have a preview of one of these teams right here. Now for each concept I post, I will be doing it by division, and will state their backstory. Now, presenting the Columbus Triangles, top farm team to the Denver Broncos, who will begin play this season. Columbus Triangles Although the modern Triangles were founded in 1960 as the Utah Trotters, who played until 2002, the roots of the team go back to 1929, when the original Columbus Triangles were formed as an independent farm team for the NFL's Dayton Triangles. In 1930, the Triangles joined the IFL, and even though their parent team became the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Triangles name and colors were kept. The team played for 56 seasons as the Triangles, and in 1984, they changed their name to the Columbus Redskins, to signify their new affiliation with Washington. In 1990, the Triangles moved to Sacramento, and that was the end of minor league football in Columbus, until the 2016 season comes, as the team will end up being revived after popular demand. Relocation History: Utah Trotters (WFA) (1960-1969) Utah Trotters (AFL) (1970-2002) Dayton Broncos (2003-2015) Columbus Triangles (2016-present)
  8. hey sportslogos visitors, so, folks from sites other have been pestering me to sign up and post my here for a while now. until now, I've just told them to get rooted. I'll be making over the AFL, in alphabetical order, with Nike being the apparel supplier in this 'folio. The Adelaide Crows have long list of absolute :censored:e (and mostly white) alternate jumpers. I attempted to rectify this with this ensemble. Featuring their traditional hoops in a funky, new pattern, the red base alleviates any colour clashes with rival times.
  9. Hi guys, I'm currently working on this logo for an Australian Rules Football team called the Sharks, would love to hear some feedback as I've been staring at it for too many hours! The brief included that only black and white were to be used and that a black 'V' to be incorporated into the design. The wordmark is bit of a placeholder at the moment - its not that exciting but it's along the lines that I'm heading to eventually. Thanks in advance!
  10. NOTICE: I REMOVED MY BASIC DESIGNS, MY BETTER ONES HAVE ROUNDED NUMBERS AND HAVE BEEN KEPT ON THIS THREAD! Thanks! Hello! I am posting another concept of mine, the AFL makeover! These were done on Microsoft paint if you re wondering. I used to have an old account that I forget the password to, where I made international Aussie Rules guernseys. I hope you enjoy, these are meant to follow teams' tradition and not be anything wacky. I will post the original template if requested. Please leave C+C! All 18 teams will be completed! 11. Hello everyone, I was recently checking out the NFL/Marvel logo mashup topic along with similar pages and thought they were awesome. It inspired me to do something similar, but I doubt I could live up to those already done with the NFL and major comics like Marvel, so I decided to go to the 2nd tier of football and comics and mashed up the Arena Football League and Dark Horse Comics. This presented an extra challenge, as I'm familiar with some Dark Horse comic characters but not a ton. I made the rule that I was working with Arena team's primary logos, and tried to match comic characters based on team colors, logo and general concept. I'l include the original team name with logo since they aren't as well known. This is my first time sharing on this forum, and I only have Paint.NET to work with so please be gentle, lol. Here is a list of teams names linking to posts as I post them, and below that are my first two logos, I hope you like them! Arizona Blue Rajas (Rattlers/The Blue Raja) Cleveland Spartans (Gladiators/300) Jacksonville Sammaels (Sharks/Sammael) Las Vegas Sinners (Outlaws/Sin City) Los Angeles Liz (KISS/Elizabeth Sherman) New Orleans Hellboys-Ver. 2 (Voodoo/Hellboy) Orlando Predators (Predators/Predator) Philadelphia Abe Sapians (Soul/Abe Sapian) - In this post Portland Feedback (Thunder/Feedback) San Jose Tricksters (Sabercats/The Mask) Spokane Shovel (Shock/The Shoveler) Tampa Bay Xenomorphs (Storm/Xenomorph) Philadelphia Abe Sapians (based off Philadelphia Soul):

    AFL 2015 Ideas

I'll be doing my ideas for all 18 teams. Each team will have a Home, Clash and Heritage and some teams will have an away.
  13. So with the new year comes the start of the build up toward the new Premiership campaign for all 18 footy clubs in Australia. The fixture list was released in Oxctober and there are some mouth watering fixtures on the opening weekend of April 2 including Brisbane v Collingwood, Fremantle v Pot Adelaide. But the biggest game of Round 1 has to be on the Monday with the Hawks and Cats squaring off (renewing old wounds) at the MCG http://www.afl.com.au/fixture The AFL Draft was held in November but some good talent within the junior leagues was picked up by the teams during the draft. Paddy McCartin was selected first overall by St. Kilda. I think that is a good starting point for the Saints but they have a long building process ahead. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-29/how-did-your-club-fare-at-the-2014-draft Next up in the docket is the NAB Challenge, a pre-season tournament held between February 26 to March 22, which allows the teams to shake the cobwebs off prior to the start of the Premiership season. Also it allows the big footy clubs to travel the country and play in venues that don't have live AFL footy week in week out. The tournament kicks off with Hawthorn v Collingwood. http://www.afl.com.au/fixture/nab-challenge
  14. I will be taking recommendations from you guys about which helmets you would like me to upgrade (from the NFL, NCAA, or AFL) and what about the recommended helmet needs to be upgraded. I have decided to start this thread with the blandest helmet in the NFL. But I gave you guys 3 options so I can tally your votes on which one should be the decider. Here is Option 1: Option 2: Option 3: My personal favorite is Option 1, but I put options 2 and 3 there for those of you who disagree with black for the Arizona Cardinals. What do you think... Comments? Concerns? Recommendations? (No promises I can make all recommendations)
  15. FYI a guernsey is an Australian football jumper This week, in round 5 of the 2014 AFL season, the AFL for the first time are going to trial having player names on guernseys with a view to making it permanent if there is public support for it. There was a press conference today releasing what the backs of the guernseys would look like: Some of these are home, some are away guernseys worn only when home guernseys clash. This has been met with mixed reactions from fans, most people seem to think it looks good and is a positive step, but there is definitely a vocal element who think it's an "Americanisation" or breaks with the traditions of the game somehow (despite the fact that sponsor logos have been on the guernseys for 30 years) I personally think this is a great change and should encourage more guernsey sales both in short and long term. I'll definitely be getting a new guernsey next year if this is adopted.
  16. I've wanted to try some concepts on Paint for a while now, and I decided to give it a shot. I decided to do the Jacksonville Sharks of the AFL. I didn't get too creative with this one, basing it off of this version with some minor edits. Again, I didn't get too wild since it's my first concept. I may do an entire AFL makeover and go with some more crazy designs. C&C welcome. Let me know what you all think.
  17. So with the 2014 AFL season starting this week and no dedicated thread for the best game in Australia for supporters talk about their clubs, I thought I would start one up. For many people who don't know much about Aussie Rules footy, the rules are limited and the excitement is plenty throughout the games. If you watch one match and you'll be hooked! I have been following AFL since 2003 when I was in Australia with the Canadian Navy and saw my first Aussies Rules game at the SCG with my now favorite club Sydney Swans. In the past its been hard to catch live games (normally through illegal streams). But now with TSN2 have weekly matches and the AFL streaming live matches through their website (pay to view on a season basis) it great to see this game being played out. So if anyone has any views on this season, this is the place to say them. From the just completed NAB Cup (pre-season competition) throughout the regular season and all the way to the Grand Final...bring on the kickoff of the 2014 season.
  18. I just drew this up in the last hour. I took some inspiration from my Lion Concept thinking it would work nicely as a Sabretooth Tiger. Well it didn't work too nicely, I basically had to re-draw everything. During the process I was thinking of what teams it may fit, NHL's Predators or the AFL's SaberCats... I feel it would be an improvement over the either, but especially the SaberCats. There is obvously a lot of work yet to be done, but let me know what you think of the sketch. C&C appreciated.
  19. I'd love to hear how people on here rate the AFL logos. Obviously over in Australia there are a lot of strong opinions given how attached we are to our teams, but i'd love to hear what people think of the logos as they are, without having a lot of prior knowledge of the AFL. As you can see there is a wide variety of approaches to logo design going on here. Some are more traditional looking, some are more bold and modern.
  20. There are so many indoor leagues now. What are some that you know about? Maybe add some unknown logos in as well. Obviously AFL, AFL2 IFL UIFL (barely) Mighty Football League (Billings Outlaws left the IFL and I'm pretty sure they are trying to start their own league.) CIFL
  21. Back about 1991, I drew up a logo and jumper kit for an Australian Football League club called the Tasmania Devils. This was after Adelaide joined the league, and I felt there needed to be a sixteenth team to balance things out. I came up with the colours blue and black because I thought there was no side in the league that carried them. Today, I managed to recreate my drawings onto SVG Inkscape. These are what they look like: Logo Shield: Jumpers: Now I know what you're all thinking. These aren't proper colours for a team in Tasmania, and that they should be decked out in green and red. Well, I got that covered: Logo Shield: Jumpers: C&C.
  22. The jumper worn by Nicky Winmar when he was racially abused by Collingwood supporters has been sold for $100,000 http://www.theage.co...0918-263u8.html
