  1. My friends and I take our fantasy baseball league pretty seriously, so I made a promo poster for a marquee match-up quickly approaching. One of the teams and I live down the street from each other, hence the "Sidewalk Series." It is also our 3rd meeting this season, hence "3rd round." I'd love to hear some feedback on how I can improve this!
  2. I was just messing around with Photoshop and I created a fauxback uniform for Michigan State. I used only cream and green for the uniform. I don't really have a list of teams in mind so I am down to take requests.
  3. NCAA Tournament is winding down, MLB Opening Day a week away or less, and the release of MLB The Show 17 tonight, I thought it would be fun to show you a World Series Concept Logo I've been working on. World Series Logos from years past My Concept for the 2017 World Series: A navy and steel blue gradient diamond with a red interior outline and white bases and home plate. Four pennant flags (four because two didn't look like enough) I guess you could say the four stand for the following: 1 to represent the NL, 1 to represent the AL. 1 for the NL champion and 1 for the AL champion (but I think that's reaching a bit). The World Series in a "Championship Gold" and "Autumn Brown" gradients. Date in white above, and the MLB league logo at the bottom. Improvements: - Wondering if MLB league logo should be a bit smaller to center with home plate. - I had a baseball logo that I was going to put in the two pennant flags but didn't look right to me and wasn't sure where else to put it. - World Series seems like it's not truly centered, which according to my program I use it is, so maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me. As usual, C&C appreciated. (The timer on MLB The Show 17 on my PS4 is moving so slow...)
  4. It's officially baseball season again, and Ive been working on my fictional baseball league for the past year or so since it sort of died a couple of years ago. I've come back with a lot better ideas and cut down the number of teams to pace myself better. If you followed that thread at all, you'll see its revival is under a new name: the United States Baseball League. You'll also notice that a lot of the teams are transferred over from that old league and it may seem like the histories should transfer over as well. These histories have no relation, everything's redone, so anything you remember from that thread, it doesn't apply. Also, none of today's actual leagues exist in this world, so keep that in mind. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The United States Baseball League was formed in 1930 when teams from Kansas City, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, and New York came together and created the first professional sports league in America. Christopher Husley was elected as the first league president, and the Kansas City Browns took the first title. Husley was also elected as a charter member to the USBL Hall of Fame in 1965. Today, the USBL has inflated to 20 franchises, with the most recent expansion in 1996 and the next round of 4 coming in 2016. The USBL prides itself in small-market clubs, which it believes sets itself apart from other professional leagues in the US. Each season, 8 teams reach the postseason--the four best teams from the American and National Divisions. The first two rounds are both best-of-five matchups and the Championship Series for the John S. Branson Cup is a best-of-seven series. The USBL just released a new logo for the 2016 season. The red and blue surrounding the player represent the National and American Divisions. Uniform wise, the USBL is a classy league. Each team has home whites and road greys and is limited to three alternate jerseys, although none are required to have alternates. In addition, all teams will receive Memorial Day sets, 4th of July sets, and various special jerseys that honor multiple racial backgrounds (Latin American, Japanese, French, etc.). Patches are to be used for team-related anniversaries (10, 25, 50, 100), league-wide anniversaries, similar to the USBL's 75th Anniversary celebration in 2005, catastrophes or other current events, or in honor of former team members. Some other minor notes: Pullovers and sansabelt pants never were a fashion in the 1970s, and thus will not be used for throwbacks. This may change, who knows. Also, batting practice jerseys were never used. The standard attire for BP is the team-issued t-shirt or normal jersey and, in some cases, an alternate BP hat. In the spring leagues, most teams choose to wear their standard homes and roads and forgo the alternates. You'll note this series includes field designs as well. All bullpens are required to be out of the field of play, which means a wall separating the playing surface from the bullpens. Oh, and the concept of a designated hitter was shot down in the early 50s and has never been challenged, so it looks like they'll never make their way into the USBL. Original League Logo: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Iowa Dusters | Portland Loggers | Seattle Captains | New Mexico Suns | New York Knights | California Grizzlies | Arizona Sidewinders | Indiana Tribe | Colorado Kings | Omaha Cyclones | Pittsburgh Flying Shearmen | San Francisco Fire | Jacksonville Gators | Texas Lonestars | Nashville Blues | Chicago Wind Sox | St. Louis Archers | Boston Masons | Florida Blue Herons | Washington Potomacs | Philadelphia Liberty | Brooklyn Privateers | San Antonio Phantoms | St. Paul Loons July 4 Uniforms

  6. I know this game has been in the news quite a bit in the past two days, but I've been a lover of the Congressional Baseball Game (CBG) for years. I like baseball, I like politics (this thread won't be (too) political, I swear), and I like the symbolism of our national leaders engaging in our national pastime for a day. I've always wished it was bigger, the way it (allegedly) was back in the 20s, when they wore party uniforms and had cheerleaders and elephants, so with all the brouhaha surrounding this year's game (Congratulations to the Democrats on their win and taking the series lead), I decided to break out my trusty old MS Paint and see what I could whip up. Note that both teams are, to some extent, what I think the teams would wear, and that I may take a couple (maybe more than a couple) of light hearted jabs at both sides. The Home Squad As I worked, a world emerged. The home team in white will always be the team that controls the House of Representatives, because the CBG was originally by practice, though not by statute, House only, and because to quote my old little league coach, someone has to bat first. In this case, that means Speaker Ryan and the Republicans get last licks. The GOP is by nature pretty old fashioned, stuck in its ways. We think we have a good thing going for us and see no reason to change it. Our team of old fogies is therefore in very conservative, perhaps even bland uniforms. A modified (removed the cut, moved the stars down) Republican elephant in white adorns a red-crown-white-bill cap, and the jerseys have... an R. It stands for Republican, you know. We just thought of that. The pants are a little funkier. As fans (okay, fan) of my New York Townball series (which I solemnly swear will be coming back, today was a rare off day in a busy season) will know, I like to play around with belt loops. For the GOP, wearing a Republican Red belt, their loops are blue and white (hey, it's red, white, and blue that way!). The pants are adorned with stripes whose width is, like our platform, stuck in yesteryear. The socks might be what I'm most proud of, you'll see them on the Dems, too. If you start at the bottom white stripe and count up, or from the top red stripe and count down, you'll get sixteen, the chronological number of the first Republican President, bAbe Lincoln. The Visitors I'll be honest, I'm less proud of this one, I think you'll see why. I thought to myself, "Self, what's more 2017 Democratic Party than really old people trying to appeal to the youth?" So when baseball fans Pokemon Go to the ballpark, they're going to see some gratuitous black in the mix here, which actually ended up looking pretty good with the Democrat blue. Black cap with the blue D and a blue brim (dammit, I love that hat I designed). The jersey was really tricky. No matter what gray I tried, the blue (which is the proper color, and which looks decent elsewhere, was all but unreadable (kind of like Obamacare) across the front, and I couldn't give it an outline that worked (or at all, I'm not quite there yet skill-wise). I considered making the jersey black (I have a version like that saved still), but in the end I settled on DEMOCRATS across the front in black. The font is the official party font (or one that looks a lot like it, anyway, I can't afford the real one #WeAreThe99). Pants are very nice and simple, with a blue belt held up by red and white loops, over the socks. It really doesn't work as well with the Democrats, the Presidential stripes, if only because they got started earlier and sixteen looks better than seven, and the odd number meant the whole sock had to be white so we didn't honor John Quincy Adams instead, Democratic-Republican that he was. So, yeah. There we go. Republicans v. Democrats. Elephants v. Donkeys. Right v. Left. Thoughts? Suggestions? Deletions? Comments? Interruptions? Expletives? If a mod thinks this post is too political, let me know, I'll remove the comments and what have you.
  7. I decided to continue with Northwest fictional baseball teams. The Seattle Volcanoes. The team name Volcanoes I really liked and I created the primary logo. I needed a city and I was deciding between Seattle and Honolulu ultimately going with Seattle because of the color scheme. Unlike my Portland team, I do have the files and I can update so C&C is very much appreciated. *Uniforms soon to come*
  8. Won't make a big production out of this (don't have all 30 teams done yet), but I've moved on from my NFL Soccer project for now. That was a good "beta" test, if you will, as I am still learning the game of soccer. Subsequently, I'm also learning the aesthetics of soccer. I'm hoping this concept (and eventually full project) will show some progress. This time, I'm working on creating new badges for every team. Some will be subtle differences from the real-life baseball team. Others will be 100% re-designs. This time, I've actually saved all the files so I can edit as critiques come in. So without further man-splaining, here's the first crossover: Los Angeles Not too much to explain here. You'll see in this project sometimes I get carried away with doing hoops all the time, but "The Angels" have a bit of variation. The home (red) kit has a pretty basic look. I chose two reds to help break apart the kit. I didn't want a huge red block of color coming at the viewer the whole time, a la Liverpool. I feel like this combats that a little bit. The away (white) kit also has hoops, but with a different feel. The one grey hoop directly above the crest is a tip-of-the-cap to the Angels' halo caps. You can also see a red yoke which represents the angels that everybody has on their shoulders...Or that could be Nike-style marketing BS. You be the judge. My favorite, though, is the 3rd. I wanted a complete recolor and, thankfully, the mid-90s provided some good inspiration for Los Angeles. Once put together, the kit is light blue-navy-light blue-navy in a row. I also re-colored the crest to match the new color scheme. Send some C&C love on these kits. Next up soon will be San Francisco FC.
  9. In this thread you can post a pic of that MLB stadium which, in your opinion, has the best backdrop. For me it's PNC Park: The Roberto Clemente Bridge over the Allegheny River along with the skyscrapers (specially the Fifth Avenue Place) create an unique view.

  11. Something that I randomly thought of the other day as I was listening to sports radio. The host kept mentioning the "Bullets" when talking about the then-upcoming Game 3 between the Celtics and Wizards and it made wonder if he was doing it intentionally because he hates the name Wizards, or if because the Wizards are playing Bullets dress up. My mind wandered to the logo of the Bullets before the name change how it went from an actual bullet through a basketball to....well this: and I wondered about other logos that showcase nothing about the nickname but instead focused on the sport in some form or another. Some that came to mind were: Any other ones you can think of that seem more to advertise the sport itself rather than the team?
  12. It's been a very long time since I've done any concept, let alone post one. I've been involved in fantasy hockey and football for years, but this year was my first foray into fantasy baseball and as such used it as my motivation to get behind the mouse. As such, I took John Benson's jersey and Jay Jaxon's cap templates and created this unique set for the Toronto Frenchies... (don't hold back on comments, my son described the away jersey as the "ugliest shirt he's ever seen".(and I own a NY Islanders "fish sticks" one...)
  13. In my graphic design class, we got to do a choice project so I decided to create a baseball team. I just want to post it on here and get some feedback but won't be updating it due to me not having the correct files at my house. So without further ado: *The gray and white pants indicate they can be worn home or away
  14. What has happened to the "Dressed to the Nines" section on the Baseball HOF website. It is no longer there. Does anyone know if this is temporary website maintenance, or a permanent deletion?
  15. Hey guys, Back with another baseball concept. Currently my school, Western Michigan, wears some Adidas template baseball uniforms that are ok but not great. So I searched around and decided to make a concept based on their uniforms from the mid to late 80s under MAC coaching legend, Fred Decker. Let me know what you think! Jerseys are modeled by current big leaguer, Adam Rosales.
  16. Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a download of the modern jays font. I had to reset my computer and I lost all my fonts if anyone would be willing to share it thank you very much. P.S I have a Mac, I'm not sure if that makes it different.
  17. One of the most popular concept threads on the boards are the "MLB Tweaks". Inspired by that kind of series, I decided to do the same with the LVBP (Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional / Venezuelan Professional Baseball League). The main current problem with the style of Venezuelan teams is that they have abandoned the classic White/Grey combination for the uniforms, thing which I don't like at all. Apart from that, in my opinion, some teams don't have the best look or uniforms. That's why I decided to tweak the league of the country where I was born. I'll be making changes to the 8 current teams and I'll add 4 brand new clubs. Given most of the people here may not know the teams from the LVBP, I'll write a bit about each club on the posts, and about the corresponding city/state for the expansion teams. This is the list of the teams (those underlined are the expansion ones) and the map of the league: División Central / Central Division: Leones del Caracas / Caracas Lions (Caracas, Capital District) Navegantes de Magallanes / Magallanes Navigators (Valencia, Carabobo) Tiburones de la Guaira / La Guaira Sharks (La Guaira, Vargas) Tigres de Aragua / Aragua Tigers (Maracay, Aragua) División Oriental / Eastern Division: Bravos de Margarita / Margarita Braves (Porlamar, Nueva Esparta) Caribes de Anzoátegui / Anzoátegui Caribbeans (Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui) Mineros de Guayana / Guayana Miners (Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar) Salineros de Sucre / Sucre Saltmen (Cumaná, Sucre) División Occidental / Western Division: Águilas del Zulia / Zulia Eagles (Maracaibo, Zulia) Cardenales de Lara / Lara Cardinals (Barquisimeto, Lara) Llaneros de Barinas / Barinas Plainsmen (Barinas, Barinas) Petroleros de Táchira / Táchira Oilers (San Cristóbal, Táchira)
  18. I think we can all agree that the Arizona Diamondbacks have one of the most messed up looks currently in the Majors: the alternation between the Red/Black and the Teal/Black schemes, the dark grey road uniforms and the diamond pattern (I think that, despite being a good idea, there's something off about it). That's why I decided to make things simpler: I took their current logos and wordmarks, and used the club original colours (making a mix between the original Turquoise and the current Teal, and using the cuurent Sand shade instead of Copper). I also decided to use a design inspired by the 1998/02 alt uniform for the sleeves and pants trim. This is the result: Do you think these are any better than the current uniforms?
  19. The World Baseball Classic this year was AMAZING and totally exceeded all expectations I had for it. I was listening to an interview with Dodgers' pitcher Brandon McCarthy, and he brought up the idea of an Ireland team. Obviously, the baseball presence in the country isn't strong, but McCarthy said they could probably put together a solid squad by using American born Irish players. This got me thinking about the possibility of Ireland in the WBC. I looked up Ireland baseball and saw that while they do have a team, their logos and uniforms are pretty ugly. So I hit the drawing board and whipped up this
  20. Well, after seeing @FinsUp1214's MLB series, it got me inspired to make concepts again. I've tried to learn other art programs, but I always end up getting flustered, so I've chosen to stick to what I know for this series: MS Paint. Anyways, the 1st team: The Anaheim Angels. Seriously, the "Los Angeles" & "of" aren't needed at all. For the Angels, I wanted a set that was different but also showed history for the team. I decided to use the 1971 logo as the basis for the concept as I've always adored that logo. The jerseys themselves are a blend of the 1960's, 1970's, The "Angels In The Outfield" set & the 2007-Now jerseys. As for each colour, it's a blend of RBG values from each era that creates the Navy (They've used 3 different shades), Grey (2 variations, but also mixed with the light blues used by the team during the 00's) & Red that these Angels wear. I also feel like the Angels are a team that can pull off dressing in various setups, so I gave them 3 hats to wear. I also decided Navy was best to use on the Road given their love of using the current reds at home. Let me know watcha think & maybe give me a suggestion on who to do next. P.S. Does anyone know if I can get any MLB fonts somehow? I can't seem to find any.
  21. With the MLB season starting today many local sandlot leagues will do the same. I thought this might be a fun opportunity to make my Sandlot League team's new logo into a concept of a new MLB team. So far I made our logo, we have been using these 2 logos since 2013. Later (I'm working on it now) I will post a full MLB style uniform concept of my SandLot team, The Moonman Baseball Club. Please C&C as I go!
  22. Let me start by making something clear: This is NOT my concept and I claim no credit for it. I tried to find a thread with this via search and could not. Now that that is out of the way, This is a concept by Jesse Alkire that I found via Dribbble. I thought that everyone here would really appreciate it. There are some aspects of the concept that on paper would seem hokie or minor league like (topographic elevation lines as pinstripes)... but they REALLY work well and I could imagine seeing them on the field. Here is the link to his page and some images from the concept. ***Well just figured out that Jesse IS a member here... sorry for posting your work. This can be taken down if need be.***
  23. As some of you probably know, Uni-Watch ran a Redesign the USA Baseball contest this past week. This was my submission. It was a little rushed, but I was happy with the overall look of the uniforms.
  24. I've wanted for a while to do a redesign of the Midland Rockhounds logo, so as soon as the right idea struck me, i got to it. Their current logo is incredibly tacky and outdated, and needs a change really soon. So, i took the idea of Rockhounds and tried to add a little more meaning to it than just a dog with a rock, and instead i made a more realistically proportionate bloodhound with a coal miner's hat, which i envision becoming the symbol of the team and a big souvenir item. The shape behind is meant to represent a mine and the colors have a more Texas feel than before, and more appropriate for mining. Old: New: What do you think of this update for Midland? C&C much appreciated as always, thanks!
  25. Looks like the WBC gear is starting to roll out. No major changes - any idea what the jersey's will look like? https://www.lids.com/wbc USA baseball really needs a new logo
