  1. If Nike and the Dallas Mavericks decided to go all in on the Skyline design this season...... Special shoutout to Riley Gisseman for the jersey template. Please let me know what you guys think!
  2. It's Draft Day and essentially the start of the off season and since we've already got a few trades (ie-Dwight Howard, etc.) we might as well get this party started.
  3. I've been thinking about some of the changes that have been going on in the NBA (player movement, tanking, resting, etc.) and the leagues responses to them. The league has been fairly cooperative with the players, coaches, owners, and fans on these. You might say they've been rolling with them. To that end some more "rolling" needs to happen. There are still some problems that the league needs to address: - too many games (especially for the playoff teams) - long....mostly uneventful.... playoffs - super teams rolling over everyone So these are my thoughts on how to re-organize in order to address these problems: 1. Move Minnesota to the Eastern Conference: truth be told I'd prefer that they do away with conferences all together and just work with divisions (more on that later) but Minne is kind of an out-lier in the west anyway. They are much closer to eastern conference teams for travel's sake, moving them could cut some road trips by a bit. 2. Add teams in Seattle and Las Vegas: Both places will likely end up with teams in the future either way. This brings the league total to 32 teams. 3. Create 4 Divisions: The 32 teams work to make 4 eight team divisions Pacific: Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Golden State, LAL, LAC, Utah, Las Vegas South West: Denver, Phoenix, OKC, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans, Memphis Great Lakes: Minnesota, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indiana, Cleveland, Toronto, Detroit, Philadelphia Atlantic: Boston, New York, Brooklyn, Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami 4. Cut down regular season: Each team plays every other team twice for 62 games, plus they play each team in their conference 1 more time through the year for 77 total games. This cuts the season by five games for everyone (player rest/ longevity). 5. Reformat the playoffs with march madness in mind: I don't mean all win or go home, but (and this is probably the most controversial change) 16 teams start the playoffs and the first round is win or go home. The 2nd round is a 3 game series, higher stakes. The conference championships and finals are 5 game series. The most playoff games possible would be 14 if no team swept the minimum would be 9 if a team swept through. This format could either help or hurt a super team, they could get beat in the first round game and get no redemption games. 6. Move toward no conferences: Eventually they could just rely on the divisions instead of conferences. Just change the schedule to play each team in their division twice more instead of every team in the conference once more (one less game). Then each division sends a team to the "final four" in the playoffs. This could also benefit the All-Star Game by taking the best 24 players in the league rather than 12 from each conference. [If you really like your leagues chopped up you could make my divisions into conferences and break each into 2 divisions] Well that's the idea that was burning itself into my brain while I was trying to sleep last night. Let me know what you think.
  4. I'm not a big basketball guy (in fact, this is my first basketball concept ever), but I'm an Atlantan and very displeased with the Hawks uniforms. The shift to navy blue and red 10-15 years ago felt foreign (I know they had worn those colors before, but it was so long ago) but was at least relatively harmless. I was excited to see an emphasis put back on the Pac Man logo as they slowly reintroduced him. However, the way the redesign was executed left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The red was very prominent. That much was good. Navy blue was out; also good. In its place was a dark gray...not the familiar black, but better, nonetheless. Where it really fell apart was the hideous volt. What a terrible color that looks so out of place! I also realize the Hawks have used lime green before, but they hadn't used it paired with these new colors. The red, gray, and volt felt like a cheap knockoff version of the Hawks I grew up with. The Hawks have such great inspiration to pull from, and the current iteration with the feather pattern misses the mark. Overly detailed, poor color balance (can I say gaudy?), too trendy and already outdated. Definitely not "timeless." I wanted to come up with a design that feels familiar for the Hawks but pushes the needle a bit. The Dominique Wilkins era uniforms were near perfect for the time but don't quite translate to today's NBA. The Hawks need to emphasize red, white, and yellow. The current red and black sets are screaming for some white to balance it out because the volt makes it look dirty and dingy. Black should definitely be used sparingly and in this case, I relegated it only to an alternate uniform. It works because black is familiar for Atlanta, but leaves the main uniforms untouched. Those sets don't need any black at all. I took the forward looking graphic of the script and applied it throughout the uniform: the front and back number, as well as the NOB. I skipped name and number outlines in the interest of letting the design do the talking. It has a "loud" script so I wanted to keep the rest of the set fairly minimalistic. I originally had a contrasting collar and shoulder trim, but I got rid of those for the same reason. I created the new Nike template from scratch and if there's interest I may release it. Still playing around with it and optimizing it for use. It includes all the various seams and mesh panels. _________________________________________ TEMPLATE RELEASE I have tried to make this pretty user friendly. Just pay attention when you're changing the color of the uniform to also swap the inner garment color. There's a shadow layer and if you disable that layer's visibility, then you can click the inner garment color and swap that. I tweaked a couple things from my original design: got rid of the dashed stitching and just made it solid since it's hardly visible, anyways...added a jock tag, inner neck detailing, etc. The file is an Adobe Illustrator file (which I believe should also open and be compatible within Inkscape). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qnKqVYduUtFGMPYpiAdCT93F1Dt7s5Y0/view?usp=sharing
  5. Logo Concept - Boston Celtics The Boston Celtics have a pretty timeless logo so for an update I couldn’t do anything too crazy. I mostly made the line widths a little more even, made the lettering better spaced on the outer circle. The biggest changes are to the Celtic’s vest and tie which is no longer gold and/or carrying an unnecessary number of clovers all over it.
  6. I want to start this off by saying that IMO much of the Timberwolves current set looks good (but I am a fan of the team). I am of the group of people that thinks they should reach back and use a blue/green/silver color scheme. I also think that the current "angry wolf head" looks like a strange wolf/coyote/saluki mix. All of these thoughts will show through in my concept. There are things about this concept that may have been tried, in another way, before; but it seems like this is the first time they're all put together into one concept. So I give you the Power of the Pack:
  7. After a bit of a creative block, I have finally created a sports team I was happy with. Here are the logos for the Vegas Gamblers: Primary: Secondaries: Uniforms to come after I get some feedback and tweak the logos to close to perfection.
  8. Didn't see any posts about this, but they've changed to the Kings' colors and added a crown. http://www.kolotv.com/content/news/Bighorns-unveil-new-colors-logo-419910483.html http://reno.dleague.nba.com/news/reno-bighorns-unveil-new-color-identity-create-visual-connection-parent-club/
  9. A while ago I put together a redesign of the Marquette Basketball Jordan uniforms. Looking back at them, I don't really think they would be consistent with something Jordan would make, so I set out to make something a bit more streamlined and modern than what I originally designed. I still have many of the same gripes as before with Marquette's current jerseys. When Jordan redesigned, they did away with the famous Rainbow striping in favor of a simple two color panel that runs down the sides of the uniforms. While it looks incredibly clean, especially in person, it fails to display Marquette's unique and beautiful color scheme like the Rainbow striped jerseys did. In addition, some of the colors are a little too faded for my tastes. While it is forgivable for most of the uniforms, it leads to an issue in the Championship Blue set, where the gold writing doesn't really pop on the jersey well. With these goals in mind, I set out on my MU uniform redesign. Here's what I came up with. With the resdesign, I kept many of the same elements from the current jerseys, including the Marquette script underneath the number, the Big East patch, and the memorial "Al" logo underneath the collar. The biggest change with the uniforms is an updated pattern on the side panels. With experimenting with gradients and all 3 of the school's colors, I came up with an interesting side panel pattern that incorporates all 3 of the school's colors. When introduced to the different colored jerseys, the pattern interacts in different and interesting ways, which I think gives all of the uniforms interesting and unique quirks. Marquette has always been known for having a lot of different uniform sets, so I made sure to include uniforms for all 4 colors. In addition to the pattern changes, I darkened the shades of gold and Championship Blue throughout the uniforms, which help to make a more vintage and rich look. I also made a 1977 "Untucked" Throwback Jersey, replicating the jersey that the then-Warriors wore against North Carolina in the National Championship game. The design features many of the quirks of the original 1977 Championship-winning uniform, including the mismatched gold shorts and the "Marquette" wordmark by the hem of the jersey. While these jerseys are not meant to be worn untucked, they still give the same effect as the old jerseys. These uniforms would only be worn once or twice a year for special occasions. So that's it for my Marquette uniform redesign. I think I was effective in creating a simple way of displaying all 3 school colors on the uniforms while still keeping the current, modern look. If you have any questions/C&C, feel free to comment below!
  10. Hello everybody! After about 2 months of not posting, I'm back! I have looked through a lot of concepts trying to find the perfect basketball concepts for college, I have not found it. Credit to @CAB for his good designs for the teams he did, and SportsFontDatabase. I will be doing the power 5 and the Big East. I will be doing the good teams too but not their whole conference. C&C is always appreiated! You will notice things about this thread: 1. Most of the uniforms are the ones that the currently have, it is very hard to change the uniforms that they have. 2. I have put the sponser on the right side of the uniforms. Enjoy the uniforms! ACC: Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami(FL), NC State, North Carolina, Norte Dame, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest
  11. Hey everyone, I work at a middle school where I am a teacher's aid. I often help out the basketball coaches with practice and run scoreboard/announce at games. The coach told me that they are looking at getting some new uniforms for the 7th grade program. These are just mockups in photofiltre. If they like them, I will have them rendered in photoshop and hopefully, get them made for the team. Here are the specifics. Location: DeKalb, IL (Home of the Northern Illinois Huskies) School name: Clinton Rosette Middle School Mascot: J-Barbs (High school is the Barbs. DeKalb is the birthplace of barbed wire) Colors: Burnt orange and black Home Whites Away darks Barb City Alts
  12. Does any one here have ties to LSUA or know anyone who does? They held a logo contest back in August & have yet to post anything about it. Wondering what became of it, I've tried to make contact but haven't had much luck. Below is the add they posted. If this is not the right place for this by all means please move it to where it belongs, thnx! https://www.lsua.edu/news/noteworthy/2017/08/01/lsua-athletics-logo-contest
  13. I really like the look of team specific ugly Christmas sweaters with the snowflakes, Reindeer and other Christmas related imagery but I could never justify spending the 80 dollars for something I'm only going to wear one month a year. So I decided to use my photoshop knowledge to make ugly Christmas sweater themed wallpapers for my friends and I. Here are some I've made so far let me know your thoughts.
  14. Just wanted to share a new template I created intended to display a uniform of any sort. Below are two finished examples, one with soccer, and another with football equipment. Message me to get a hold of a blank template with no watermark. It is saved as a png. file and I personally used paint.net. Nothing special just hoping it may spark someone's interest. Enjoy! I am accepting feedback to adjust as well.
  15. As many (most?) of you know, the (vast) majority of people think the new/current Los Angeles Clippers logo sucks... and for good reason. But spontaneously - out of absolutely nowhere - I came up with a brilliant concept. If nobody has thought of this before, I might actually be surprised. (Maybe a little?) Well, check this one out! It's a prototype that exemplifies the best of minimalist design (which is the trend du jour), while incorporating elements that make way too much sense. And yes - the red and blue used here is EXACTLY the same as that used in the current and former Los Angeles Clippers logos. The logo looks like a boat, which is a stand-in for a Clipper ship - the Los Angeles Clippers, which were originally based in the naval city of San Diego (as the San Diego Clippers), borrows its nickname from the aforementioned seafaring vessel. The logo incorporates a stylized "LA" (which you can see here), and the bottom of the logo incorporates a part of a basketball, which is commonplace for NBA logos. (By my count, two-thirds of all NBA teams have this as part of their primary logo.) Not to brag, but I say that this idea is too good to ignore. If someone improves upon this design and it gets some serious press, I've done my job already. Thoughts? Disclaimer: This work, illustrated herein, is an entirely original concept by sj10689 (the original author of this thread); any other logos/designs which have already been created prior to the posting of this comment, that bear any (striking) similarity, or is (almost) exactly the same, constitutes a circumstance which is purely coincidental. Therefore, as sj10689 is verily the creator of this work, which was not in any way inspired by, nor copied from any other pre-existing works, sj10689 assumes full ownership of this property. P.S.: I go by "Adam_Halverson" outside the forums, on sportslogos.net. I reposted this concept on the Los Angeles Clippers primary logo page.
  16. Here we go again..... It's been awhile since I dabbled with the Thunder's look. I'm starting off slow this time with a concept board. It shows several different configurations of bison/cloud looks. The key ideas/thoughts/buzz words here are; power - maleficent - foreboding. Let me know what you think.
  17. I was browsing major Chicago sports logos online and noticed a trend with every team except the Bulls. The Cubs, White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks and Fire have both "object" logos and a "letter" logos, respectively. However, the Bulls only have an object logo. I wanted to create a letter logo for the Bulls, but it had to be attached stylistically to the current object logo. My creative focus was on the horns. The way some bull horns curl made the most sense in creating lettering. A "c" curve looked somewhat natural, so I came up with two differing types of Bulls C's. I am still working on creating a final design that closely relates to the elements of the Bulls "object" logo, so these are by no means my final designs. I posted my designs here to gain some feedback from a community of graphic design enthusiasts and creators. -Grayson Woods
  18. Hello folks! I would like to share a uniform template I have created. It’s called the Nike NBA Aeroswift Uniform Template. It’s in Adobe Photoshop. On that document, I have created every element Nike and sports design enthusiasts can come up (ex. NBA logo placements, necklines, etc.). Play around with what I made there as you can turn them on or off on the Layers portion of the program. Download it on the link below this text. And please credit me if you’ll use my template for your future projects. Please and thank you. =D TEMPLATE (EDITED 08/30/17) SOURCE IMAGES (CTO) -TheRealPepman
  19. Los Angeles Clippers Rebrand, any feedback would be appreciated
  20. Here is a logo concept inspired by member mattr1198's concept (if on dribbble it'd be a rebound). I meshed the Windy City Bulls' logo with my own creations: I think they both look pretty sweet, but my edge goes to the left. What about you?
  21. Aaron Dodson from The Undefeated listed The 30 Best NBA Throwback Jerseys is response to Nike's announcement that eight teams will be wearing a Classic Edition uniform (READ: Throwback) this upcoming year. There's a lot to be said about Dodson's list, which needless to say, I don't agree with. So I thought I'd share ONE throwback for each 30 teams that I'd love to see worn. This isn't necessarily the best designed throwback from their team history, but more back to an era relatable to the fans and their history. Also, in the spirit of the NBA going with more Color vs. Color match ups, I decided to go with colored jerseys, especially since the Association Edition (READ: Home Uniform) will presumably be the only white jersey in team's collections. Anyways, here is my list. I'd love to see everyone else's opinions on what throwbacks you'd like your favorite team to sport next year or near future ...
  22. This is a project I'd had in my head for a long time, and I finally decided to make it happen. My concept for the NBA to be taken outdoors for the first time in history, the NBA Blacktop Series. The BS if you will. As crazy as it sounds, I think it would be possible if done right for an NBA game to be played outside. I mean if they can do it with hockey, they can do it with roundball. The more outlandish part of the idea is a proposal for the game to be played on an actual street court, Chicago's Margaret Hie Ding Lin Park Court in this case. It would fit in well with the NBA's mindset and would be kind of like bringing players back to their roots, where it all began, on a humble street court. So below are all the facets of what I think this could/should look like. LOGO The logo for the Blacktop Series is simple and uniform, but still hanging on to some uniqueness while serving as a kind of ode to Chicago's Hie Ding Park, with the underside of the El tracks center stage on the logo and court alike. Any further games would fit this same half-circle logo template. SECONDARIES UNIFORMS The matchup for the inaugural Blacktop game is Pistons/Bulls which i think is a healthy enough rivalry, esp. city wise, to kick the series off. The jerseys are noticeably button-up which will serve as a distinct icon of outdoor b-ball. Chi-Town's uni has a black base with the colors of the city's flag as bold accent colors. The Flag Shield secondary from the event logo is the sleeve patch and the flag's four six-point stars are an accent underneath the numbers. Detroit's jersey is much more understated with the D from their new logo on the left breast and the new logo itself as a sleeve patch. Motor City silver is the base. SEATING PLAN C&C hugely appreciated as this is the biggest single project I've done yet, so I'd love to hear what you think of the first installment of the NBA Blacktop Series! Thanks guys
  23. The NBA has decided to expand and reorganize the conferences and divisions while adding 6 new teams. The base conferences and divisions will stay the same. Each division will move to six teams. 24. So with the recent NBA releases,I had some ideas... and decided to translate them into concepts. Some stuff will remain intact: Nike Swoosh to stay,4 uniform format as well, although I'll increase the throwbacks to 10. Ads,however, are not welcome in this project; I don't like them (the way they are, they're merely a superflous gimmick, tbh) Teams that comprised the playoffs will go first, then everyone else based on standings. I'll alternate between the Western and Eastern conferences,Western first since the champions are from there. So,let's start with the 2016/17 champs: the Golden State Warriors The "Association" and "Icon" uniform are based off their look from the first half of the 1990s. These two feature a sublimated "bridge" graphic on the bottom left, taken from the primary logo. The slate grey "athlete's mindset" uniform has the same design, albeit printed in yellow/blue,while the yellow "community" uniform is a simplification of their current look + bit of a fauxback. Up next: I'll try to fix the broken new Cavaliers unis...
  25. Hi everyone! Not sure if you remember but I started this thread way back collecting NBA Jersey history information to make my personal database factually accurate. Now, as you may have guessed I've moved on to adding ABA jerseys in the database and I once again turn to this talented group of amateur historians for help! You can check out what I've done in the site itself: https://nbajerseydatabase.tumblr.com/tagged/aba Here are screenshots if you don't feel like clicking away: I'm open for all corrections and suggestions! Thanks for your help! All years and jersey information comes from: remembertheaba.com
