  1. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-15/nba-owners-said-to-approve-ad-patches-on-jerseys-for-first-time National Basketball Association owners approved advertising on uniform jerseys for the first time in league history, according to people with direct knowledge of the decision. The ads, in the form of 2.5-by-2.5-inch patches, will debut in the 2017-18 season, which coincides with Nike replacing Adidas as the league’s official uniform supplier.
  2. I figured I would make this into one thread so here it goes... I love the AHL as much as I do the NHL so here are some defunct AHL teams of the past I created. Hamilton Canucks (1992-1994) Saint John Flames (1993-2003) Washington Lions (1941-1943/1947-1949) (For more info on the Washington Lions check here)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Lions More AHL teams of the past to come soon... Comments and critique wanted.
  3. If the NWHL decided to expand, How about the Los Angeles Queens!? I came up with this logo while watching a Boston Pride hockey game and thought that a team in LA would perfect to expand into. I went with gold and black instead of the Kings silver and black. Comments and critique wanted.
  4. Just a fun idea for a women's hockey logo I had... The Salem Witches. Nothing serious here, I figured adding skates to her was a nice touch as well, what do you think? My wife wants to put this on a custom jersey for herself to wear. Used the Bruins colors so when its put on the jersey it will match. I still need to touch it up a bit but wanted to show my direction of it. Comments and critique wanted.
  5. I created this logo for fun a few weeks ago. I named this team after the infamous Blizzard of 1978 that hit New England where I live. I wasent born until 1983 but my family still tells the stories of what they went through when that blizzard struck. Was only going to be a little snow but little did the weather men know what a epic blizzard it would become. If you are interested in the info about the blizzard you can read about it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_Northeastern_United_States_blizzard and here's a site dedicated to it http://www.blizzardof78.org/ Im thinking about creating a snow flake logo to go with this as well. I figured a snowman would be more "out of the box" for this though. What do you all think?
  6. Thought I'd share some of my logo & design work from the past & present. Got about 15-20 so will post 5 at a time. Feel free to leave C&C. As always thanks for stopping by!
  7. Just off the top of my head: Iowa State Cyclones: mascot is a cardinal bird New Orleans Saints: dog Cleveland Browns: an elf, then a dog Tennessee Titans: raccoon Kansas City Chiefs: wolf Auburn Tigers: war eagle Phoenix Suns: gorilla Alabama Crimson Tide: elephant Oakland Athletics: elephant Detroit Pistons: had a flaming horse head for a while but I don't know if you could call that a mascot And probably the most famous one of all: Philadelphia Phillies: The Philly Fanatic (has it ever been explained what kind of creature he is?) I'm sure there are plenty more. Which ones am I missing?
  8. Here's an idea or rather my attempt at a refresh for the NRL team - Sydney Roosters - http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/list_by_team/2494/Sydney_Roosters/ I think the current marks are dated and a bit rough to be honest. I thought it would be fun to make up a new set. I've created a chief logo (portrait), wordmark, shoulder/chest badge and landscape lockup. Let me know your thoughts! Cheers
  9. Hey Guys! I've been working on this simple concept I've had the idea for recently. Check it out and let me know what you think! More on http://jessediebolt.com/dennis-schroeder and https://www.behance.net/gallery/33210855/DENNIS-SCHROEDER

  11. I'm talking about the triple striped socks in the New England Patriots' away uniform. How is it possible that Nike is being forced to include a design element that is essentially an adidas trademark in the Patriots uniforms? The Pats' current away uniforms were designed by adidas in the late 90's and debuted in the year 2000. They feature a signature adidas design element: three stripes on each sock. In case you think this is silly, that nobody can trademark the number of stripes on a sock, adidas markets itself as "the brand with the three stripes" and three stripes, not only on socks, but on t-shirts, shorts, pants, and jackets is an adidas branded design element. It may or may not be an officially registered trademark but adidas has aggressively sued other companies who design clothing that even remotely comes close to looking like their three stripes. So why did Reebok agree to keep making the triple striped socks when they took over the NFL uniform contract from adidas in 2002? Adidas ended up buying Reebok in 2005 so it makes sense that the triple striped socks would stay after that but now that Nike is in control, why are they continuing to make a symbol of a competitor on such a high profile team? Considering how Nike loves to "fix" what isn't broken I'm sure the subject has come up many times. So why do you guys think Nike hasn't changed the design of the away socks by now?
  12. Howdy folks! I know everyones talking about this so I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents. So here's my take on everything we've heard about the Panthers new uniforms and logos. For my logo I took the 101st Air Born shield and applied my panther sketch to it, I like the product a lot. And for the jerseys: I like the red uni but not so much the white one. Let me know if you think anything can get better or change for the better to fix it.
  13. I was an employee of the Hot Rods over the summer and got the chance to make some offseason ads and graphics with their new logos before the season was over. While working with these logos, I felt the same way as a lot of you on the boards. I felt that SME really missed the boat on the overall design concept and it felt rushed in some areas. There were some logos that I felt they did a great job on and it is reflected in my design concepts, but for this project I wanted to take my experience in being a minor league baseball fan and working in minor league baseball and see what I could come up with to improve the Hot Rod's new brand. For this project a designed a few new logos to replace some of the logos I felt SME did not work well for a minor league team and also kept a few of the ones that worked well. I redesigned the whole uniform set and even added a special sunday uniform. I am starting off this project by showing the primary logo I designed which I used as a focal point that everything else is designed around. I will periodically add more from this project.
  14. Some of you may remember this Lovely inspirational design for sports logos thread. I miss it. I took 95% of the images from that thread and uploaded them to this imgur folder, but I feel like it would be nice to resurrect it in a new fashion, linking to not only inspiring images, but I will put those images into that imgur folder (which is available for download here) and will be updated frequently. Please don't hesitate to link to inspiring blogs or websites. http://ffffound.com(may be under maintenance) http://chromeandlightning.tumblr.com(one of my favorites) I'll update this as frequently as I can, or the mod team obviously may do so as well. Let's get inspired! Here's a few of my faves from the old thread to get started:
  15. Hey Guys! I know this is not a sports concept but I really wanted to share this with all the other designers on this forum. Vitorio Arts has a new logo and soon will have a brand new website! So since this is a big deal (to me) i wanted to give all of you an inside look to who I am and my company. My Name is Louie Vitorio, I have been doing graphic design since 2011. I started my own "company" called Louie Vitorio Design in 2012. When I went to college and met a bunch of talented people and together we formed Vitorio Arts in 2013. After a couple of hard months (and personal reasons) we abandoned Music Production, Photography, and (was in the works) a clothing line. So at the end of 2013, I was back to just doing Graphic Design. It was close to April in 2014 that I hired Matthew McElwee for Web design. And since then, we have been thriving as a company! So I'm proud to announce the new look for Vitorio Arts! Here is the Logo History. Thank you guys so much for all the great comments (and not so great) over the year I have been on this website, it has helped me grow into the designer I am today. And of course, C&C Welcome!
  16. Hey guys! Check out this little project I put together! Tried to do something different with it but still within the general realm of the Lakers identity. Let me know what you think!!
  17. Wanted to post this for a while now. Just wasn't sure if I should post it under Sports Logos or Concepts. I chose Concepts since my logo was never utilized by the team even though it was purchased by them. A little bit about the team, They are the Brownsville Charros and played in the ULB (United League Baseball) during the 2014 season, the league folded at the conclusion of the season. If you notice the dates on my template this logo was created back in 08 & was to be used in their 09 season which never happened. Jumping forward to 2014...I see a newpaper article saying the Brownsville Charros will finally be playing in the ULB (I got a little excited thinking I would finally see my logo or at least a variation of it make it onto the field & other forms of media). What I saw as their official mark was..well you be the judge. Not to say the mark I made back then was top notch but it was what they asked for which was an updated version of their original Charros logo from their 1938 minor league team that played in the Texas Valley League. Looking at my logo now I would definitely change some things to it & simplify it much more but all in all I was pretty happy with it at the time & it's still not half bad for something I did 7 yrs ago. As always your C&C is welcome. 2014 Brownsville Charros official logo. 1938 Brownsville Charros Logo (best image I could find)
  18. So like many others I started working on creating my own personal logo. Back in the day I used to have a cartoon design of myself I used & recently I've been using a cartoon pencil I drew up which can be found anywhere my work is found. I wanted to create a more professional looking mark that would also represent me, who I am, where I'm from & what I do. Here's what I've come up with. The colors and star represent the flag where I'm from, my initials are styled in the form of a "BRANDING" iron which is a tool found & used throughout Texas. The overall design represents the state seal found on the badge of my primary profession. All these elements together represent me. Still working out details, some friends have suggested I go with 1 or 2 colors to keep it simple and that's why you see the different options also can't decide on on a name that's why you see options on that as well. Going simple I lose some of the meaning behind my design but it gives it a cleaner look & using only RS branding sounds really good but I'm left with a semi empty roundel & not sure what to add there other than the line I have or stars. So feel free to voice your opinions & suggestions.
  19. Hello. Alright, so this is my last summer before I go off to college, and it's unlikely I'll have much free time to do any more projects for the concepts forum. But I do have time this summer for one final series. I've always wanted to do my own imaginary sports league. Raysox's Yakball was the most in-depth and detailed new sport thread we've had here. There were a few copycats, but none of them felt very well thought-out. I've had an idea for this new sport in my head for quite sometime, but I never really went anywhere with it. The idea is a team sport using paddles/racquets. We have tennis, squash, racquetball, and any number of variants, but no true team sports. What I want to create here is a face-paced team sport that is (as far as I know) unlike any other. I'll include my full synopsis, rules, etc in spoiler tags below. Here's a brief explanation: The sport is called bounceball. 6 players per team each have a paddle, and play both offense and defense, with no goalkeepers. The goal is just that, to score a goal by getting a 5" rubber ball into the goal using their paddle. The game is played on a hockey rink-sized court with indoor soccer-like goals. The court is angled rather than rounded. The court is "sunk" into the ground beneath the crowd about 10 feet. This means there is a 10' wall surrounding the entire court, with see-through netting above that (like a hockey rink). This is meant to encourage passes/shots off the walls. Like basketball there are 2-pt and 3-pt lines. There is no clock. The first team to score 15 points wins. Here's a rough example of what a bounceball court would look like: Basic Rules Equipment Objective Gameplay Officiating Fouls, Violations, and Suspensions Penalty Shots For those of you that read through all that, this will help you get a better idea of the court: And that about covers it. Now about the league. Originally I had wanted the sport to be called paddleball, but it turns out there already exists a sport with that name (you wouldn't believe how many unknown sports there are). So I decided upon bounceball. After all, that's what the sport is all about, the bounce of the ball. There will be 8 teams in the league to start out with. Obviously this whole project isn't going to be 100% realistic, but it makes sense for a new sport to start out small. Also, I will be creating entirely original identities for every team, and I wouldn't be able to complete 30-32 teams in time. I've come up with 20 potential markets for NBF teams. I plan on using cities that don't have more than 2 other teams in the Big 4 sports leagues. NBF TEAMS Omaha Pioneers Las Vegas Flyers Virginia Captains Austin Jackalopes Milwaukee Hops Portland Axemen Buffalo Blizzards Memphis Kings The rest is up for debate. I don't want this thread to start out as a name-the-team contest, but I am open to suggestions. If I come up with any more ideas I'll post them above. Right now I'm just looking for comments/criticism on the sport in general. I'm almost done with Omaha, so I will probably post it in a couple days.
  20. Hi guys, I have made this concept for the Jupiter Hammerheads. In the primary logo I wanted to cue that the logo was for a baseball team through the typography rather than putting an actual baseball. I Kept the typography to a classic baseball script. I thought it kept the feeling of fluidity that was present in the shark illustration. I also liked the idea of a cap logo that incorporated both the "J" and the "H" in the same letterform without looking out of place. I also wanted to pay homage to the history of the club so I kept the lighthouse in a secondary logo that can be used for an arm patch. I would love to get feedback thanks.
  21. Hey all my good CCSLCers. As I celebrate 10 years here on the board, I have revamped my portfolio site while I job search. Any input welcome. http://www.ianbakar.com/
  22. This project was hands on during an internship at the event from July 11- 21 in Las Vegas, some work done prior and a majority on scene. Design work involved promotional and marketing materials, online and print, for the National Basketball Association Summer League's 10th Anniversary, an annual two-week event featuring the top new talent in the NBA, prior to the regular season. Some collateral included event programs, posters, schedules, web ads, billboards and in-arena signage. On-scene design included social media images for Facebook and Twitter outlets and in-arena/court-side digital signage. I had the opportunity to meet so many people in the league. Aside from gaining breadth and experience as a designer, the networking was great. 24. Howdy Guys I'm working on this logo set for a team I've come up with, the Mexico City Aztecs. I've got a primary and a word mark but I'm open on suggestions on how to Improv them and I also want to come up with a secondary logo and I'm not sure where to go with that. Let me know how to Make this better guys! Also what I should do for a secondary maybe a version of the eagle on the Mexican Flag?
