  1. I know it is a little late to be starting up a college basketball concept, but I finally made a basketball template that I like. The template is based off of the Nike Aeroswift template which is currently used by many Nike teams, and I added a U-Neck version of it similar to what Michigan and Duke use. I will be making a set of 4 jerseys for each team that I do. I have already done a few teams, so I will start with Auburn. Jerseys -Text is similar to the Charles Barkley era and what they currently wear, leaving the copperplate gothic era behind. -Trim is similar to what they used to wear, but I wanted to change it up a little bit. -For the orange jersey, I'm not sure whether it would look better with blue and white switched or not. Pants -Stripe is similar to the one on their football helmet, with the logo on it towards the bottom.
  2. Last thanksgiving, I spent the wee hours of the morning coming up with a logo. The logo had been in my head for a few days, and it was a Virginia Tech logo of a turkey incorporating the shape of Virginia. Made it, got a couple of likes, and that was it. I saw it the other day and thought it was cool, so I tweeted it back out. It was really well received and a few people told me I need to make more. That's what I did! I made the California one a few weeks ago, and the Tennessee one today. They feel like Nike shirts to me, so I'm calling this the Nike State Mascot Series Feel free to suggest some if you have an idea!
  3. For March Madness I am making a themed bracket based on Stranger Things. The year is 1983 and all of the the logos for March Madness will be from 1983. However I am having issues finding what the Belmont Rebels look like. FYI Belmont changed their name in 1995 to the Bruins. I may share the bracket if there's interest.
  4. Here is a logo concept for the Montana Grizzlies. A bear is another mascot that every designer should try to draw up. I took inspiration from their current bear's face and smoothed it out some. Rendered it in their current Maroon/Silver and the vintage Gold/Copper.
  5. I'm guessing I'll catch some flack for this but, I'm tweaking the "un-tweak...able." I'm a fan of the Texas's current look, however a few things have bothered me. It looks a bit flat and the shape of the horns looks off (especially compared to Bevo). So I went in and fleshed out the animal. In doing this I added a color... cream to the look. I feel like I've always associated cream color with UT but I can't place it... Anyway, I did a flat version too for all those fans that would have to breathe into a paper bag if they dropped that all together: Here are some reference images:
  6. Every self-respecting sports logo artist should have a wildcat in their stock folder (also, bulldog, eagle, tiger, etc). Its a very common mascot and therefore difficult to create in a unique way. This concept is basically a Northwestern Wildcat. but the design would meld easily into any wildcat brand. The only feature that I'm unsure of is which "light area" color works best (white, light purple, lighter purple). White Light Purple Lighter Purple White with Light Purple Border I kinda feel like the white is too harsh and the light purple blends too much, so I'm leaning towards the lighter purple.
  7. Once again; this would not end up being used by the school. They have tooooo much invested in Herbie looking guys. But I tried to think of some mascots that fit the name, region, and aren't human. Because let's face it, it won't be long until all human mascots will offend someone. My 2 options here are: Raccoon- They are always raiding the corn fields, cribs, and silos. They are from the animal family Musteloidea so they fit in the BIG10. They have peopleish hands so to get to the corn they actually husk it. They are un-used in D1. Drawback- many farmers hate them. Scarecrow- They are associated with fields/corn fields. Human-ish so it's not as far of a move from Herbie. They are un-used in D1. They are often stuffed with corn husks. Drawback- seem to be either too creepy or too friendly. Here are the looks: Raccoon: Not sure about the eyes A B Scarecrow: Let me know what you think. If you think they should just have a Herbie, then explain why in a way that is not "because that's what they've always had".
  8. Here is a small introduction, you can skip and go right to the uniforms if you'd like, but it all started when I was pretty young. I bet right around 10 years ago I created a fictional university based out of Grand Rapids, MI that I would create paper ice rinks and paper players and play games with it. As the years passed, the idea grew more and more becoming an entirely fictional-based college sports world called the NACA (National Association of Collegiate Athletics). I will not bore you with the specifics of that, but it's basically a 200 team world. When NCAA Football 2011 came out with TeamBuilder, everything changed. My fictional university which was just based on notebooks, now became something I could design and play games with. Southern Michigan University (known as the Knights) and the Great Lakes Conference became a reality. My 13 year-old self went online to find a logo (which I cannot identify and am no longer able to find it online, good thing I have it saved) and came up with this primary mark. This whole thing has evolved into probably over 100 files of different information from year by year results, to all-time draft picks. As I've gotten older I created a few secondary logos which I use throughout most teams. Here is a few quick notes before I show off the uniforms; Nike took over as the official athletic apparel provider for SMU in 2014, Nike began incorporating Battle Scars design into most of the teams uniforms this past season (you'll see it throughout all the major teams). Without further ado, here is what my life rotates around! Basketball Football Due to space concerns, I'll just show you the uniform schedule for this season. You can find 2015 here (http://s1370.photobucket.com/user/drewstone7/media/Screen Shot 2016-11-14 at 9.11.12 PM_zpszqkymrp2.png.html?sort=3&o=2) 2014 (http://s1370.photobucket.com/user/drewstone7/media/Screen Shot 2016-11-14 at 9.11.29 PM_zpsy4qjgtdo.png.html?sort=3&o=1) It's fun to see how your skills progress from year to year. My personal favorite is the 1985 throwback we wore twice last season. Baseball Hockey
  9. Indiana has had a bulldog, bison, and an ox as a mascot identity. Rather than fall in with one of the most populous mascots I chose to go with the ox (I've done a lot of bison work too) .
  10. Let me start by saying that this is NOT intended to replace the grinning Goldy. Also, I KNOW that the school would not replace the current Goldy with this one. After I did the Michigan Wolverine and Wisconsin Badger I thought I'd try to give a similar feel to the Minnesota Gophers. I used the 13 striped ground squirrel for reference; no it's not a gopher but judging by Goldy's tail it's what he is based off of and many people call the ground squirrel a gopher. I think it turned out to have a good balance of cute and fight. Comment with your thoughts.
  11. Figured we could have a spot for all things college hockey, logos, jerseys, regular old convorsations about the games themselves. please delete this thread if I have missed a pre existing thread. What do you think of the "50th Season Throwback" for the riverhawks, I was at the game a few days ago and I personally enjoyed the Jersey in action.
  12. Before I'm away for the weekend, I thought I'd leave you with this new design and a few thoughts. I was recently inspired to draw-up a falcon image and while working it out I chose to think metacognitively about my process. What follows are a list of some of the thoughts that were........thunk. 1. Lets see what a falcon looks like Search for falcon images 2. Falcons have big eyes and a small beak compared to eagles and hawks, that's a distiguishing feature Draw out the shape of a basic falcon head 3. An angled pose would be most dynamic Search falcon in stoop or stooping falcon stooping is a funny word Add more slant to composition 4. They almost have an innocent look to them 5. Try to keep some of the innocent look 6. I wanna keep that ring around the eye, that's a distiguishing feature 7. Since the eye doesn't have much anger, what makes them scary? They are FAST..... lightning shapes They have a black colored eye... no yellow in the eye itself like hawks and eagles, that's a distiguishing feature Search falcon screeching 8. Erase closed beak, draw in open mouth 9. Keep dark portion of beak, that's a distiguishing feature 10. Work in the dark shape in the feather colors on the face 11. Huh, that doesn't look half bad References used:
  13. I am posting some 2016-2017 game bowl posts you for anybody that would like a desktop wallpaper. My only thing with these is I am sure about the bars I put the team name in. I feel like they are a little plain but Im not sure what I can do with them. But that just me if you feel differently about the team text or have any suggestions on how I can fix them just please me know. I all will probably constantly update some of these if the schools announce they will be wearing a different helmet then the ones I already made. All feed back will be much appreciated!
  14. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2016/07/28/when-is-the-college-football-playoff-date-change-bill-hancock-new-years-eve/87644010/ After intense opposition and declining television ratings, the College Football Playoff has discontinued its attempt to create a new tradition on New Year’s Eve. Playoff executive director Bill Hancock told USA TODAY Sports the event’s management committee has decided to change the dates of the Playoff semifinals In four of seven years when those games were scheduled for Dec. 31. They now will instead be played on the preceding Saturday. The other three years, New Year’s Day falls on Saturday or is designated a Federal holiday.
  15. Constructive criticism and ideas for alternative?
  16. I read in a topic some while back the idea of making football uniforms for schools that don't have a football team. I like this concept, and I would like to leave this as an open forum for people to post up their ideas/concepts. My Masters degree is from Webster University in St. Louis. I have one of those t-shirts that says "Webster Football" and "Still Undefeated!" on the back I tooled around with some concepts and combinations.
  17. I received some great C&C on my Big Ten helmet project, so I thought I'd follow up with the work I had done for the PAC-12. Same as the Big Ten, this project is intended for alternate helmets to be worn for 1+ games. I am going to post in pairs, in most cases calling out the rivalries. Washingon is a move back to the 90s purple helmet, chrome decals, purple facemask. Wazzou is a play off of the Tennessee Smoky Mountain design.
  18. Welcome to the NCAA Football Field concept page! I am starting with the power 5 conferences then will move to the smaller schools. I am also starting with the SEC conference. Enjoy!
  19. Hey guys, I'm new to this site and would like to give a formal greeting to you all! I would also like to see if I could get some ideas/ creative criticism for this logo I designed just as a side project for Salisbury University. I recently graduated and was never really happy with the original logo (Which you can find online; it's like 50 years old hahaha) . I wanted something that kept with our original seagull but was strong and iconic for our university. Let me know what you think!
  20. I'm sure this has been done before. Mods, please merge this with another thread if necessary. I'll start off with the NFL. First I'll give y'all a blank template to copy/paste; then I'll give my own viewpoints. AFC: AFC East: Boston/New England Patriots New York Titans/Jets Miami Dolphins Buffalo Bills AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals Cleveland Browns Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Pirates/Steagles/Card-Pitt/Pittsburgh Steelers AFC South: Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Houston Texans AFC West: Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers Denver Broncos NFC: NFC East: Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Boston Braves/Boston Redskins/Washington Redskins Steagles/Philadelphia Eagles (not counting Frankford Yellow Jackets) NFC North: Decatur Staleys/Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers Portsmouth Spartans/Detroit Lions Minnesota Vikings NFC South: Atlanta Falcons New Orleans Saints Carolina Panthers Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC West: Cleveland/Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams San Francisco 49ers Seattle Seahawks Racine Normals/Racine Street Cardinals/Chicago Cardinals/Card-Pitt/St. Louis Cardinals/Phoenix Cardinals/Arizona Cardinals And...go!
  21. College football is just getting started and while I was evaporating my last Saturday, I was thinking about how freakin' cool and creative some of those uniforms are and it made me want to unlock some creativity of my own. I was going to go the football route but then I thought, what are the most expressive of all the jerseys in the... land? Hockey. And a lot of wicked cool looks don't get to be experimented with for hockey threads so that's where I come in. This is basically just a spot for college hockey jerseys of teams that either don't have hockey or don't have well-known hockey programs. So without further ado, here are Oklahoma State U's uniforms, home and away, alternate to come soon. It's obvious why OSU doesn't have hockey, but their look is so bold that it would look awesome on the white ice. Let me know what you think of these and more to come. Thanks!
  22. I always thought Wisconsin's football uniforms were somewhat boring. And I didn't like that they had uniforms so similar to division rival Nebraska. I liked the red helmets they had in 2013 and 2014 (Ex. one, ex. two) to change things up a bit but the uniforms still needed some work. When Under Armour took over and unveiled the their new uniforms last month I was pretty happy with what they did by keeping the traditional look but still making some interesting changes. I liked the "Forever Forward" theme of the new uniforms but I thought the changes were too subtle (Only having one very thin arrow on each stripe). So I kept with the "Forever Forward" theme and made some tweaks here and there. The most noticeable change I made was to the stripe. I made the stripe arrows thicker and added more arrows throughout the uniform (3 on helmet, 2 per sleeve, and 3 on each side of pants). It's hard to see but I put the "Forever Forward" logo on the helmet bumper. I kept the Badger Bold (modified Aachen) font for the numbers. I replaced the "W" logo on the chest with the wordmark and I removed the wordmark from the leg/thigh area. Lastly, I know the 3rd pants design is a bit out there for Wisconsin but I was just trying something different (I'm not necessarily a fan of it). Please give any c&c you have. If I get enough feedback I might start doing some other college teams too. Home uniform... Away uniform... Football field with new endzone wordmarks...
  23. Hello, this is my first post on the boards. -- I have a question for you... Is this the worst logo of all time? http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/532655630/Lake_Superior_State_Lakers/0/Primary_Logo Give feedback!
  24. If Maine isn't thinking of overhauling their current logo, then they should be. IMO it looks like a mess. I took a look through some black bear reference photos and drew up a logo. I'm pretty comfortable with the shape (although it could still be missing something) but need help on settling in on colors: A,B,C,D are based on current colors- E,F are more natural. Let me know what you think. A B CD EF And a black version:
  25. As most of you know America became independent in 1776, but what if they had never became independent? This concept series will take place in college football, REAL college football, meaning that because of the USA's British rule the tradition of football (soccer) carried over and is the dominant college sport in America. So here's the first one, university of Georgia FC (sponsored by local Georgia company Aflac) I will be doing requests for specific D-1 colleges of the concept gets rolling
