  1. So to go along with my re brand proposal to my high school, I am making a Falcon logo which is our mascot. I have the general shape down to what I really like, but am struggling with all the little details. Included is the vectored shape, and the sketch of what I have so far! I could really use some advice on this.
  2. I am trying to create a solid brand for my High School, Catalina Foothills to propose to the AD. I have emailed him, and he told me in person that it is on his radar for sure. So far I have gotten a basic idea which was hand drawn, and then I digitalized what would be the secondary mark which is the CF monogram. Down the line I hope to create a solid Falcon logo, as pur current one is very outdated! Colors: Royal, Silver, White, Black (sometimes). The black in the case looks much better for right now. (I may go a different route with the "font style" but for now this is it. Current Logo:
  3. I I am a student of arts and I want to start my career as a designer. Can you suggest me some good tools which I need to master before I enter my career. I haven’t decided which field I would be working for, but I don’t want to restrict myself to one domain only. I know that designers use different software for different industries. For example, if I have to make a custom logo design, I need to learn logo maker, adobe illustrator, logo smartz etc. But what if I have to make a banner? I can’t use the same software’s right. So can you guys list me some essential software which can help me irrespective of the industry I choose.
  4. Hey guys, I just got the Adobe suite of software and will primarily be playing around with Illustrator and Photoshop. I used to have one of the older Photoshops about a decade ago so I am confident I will be able to pick that up and learn it fairly easily. However, Illustrator seems a good bit different from what I've known out of Inkscape the last 6-7 years or so. I'm struggling to figure out how different file types interact from one program to the other. For example, I had some .svg files made in Inkscape that I wanted to try to import into Illustrator and mess with, perhaps fine tune them, etc...but they don't seem to convert well. Any tips for this? Any general help or tips would be much appreciated. I am excited to try my hand with this new tool but it appears there will be a decent learning curve from what I have known previously with Inkscape.
  5. Me & my gf are joining a hockey league and I want to make her a custom pink jersey for Xmas with out cat (Catface) as the logo... still needs to be rendered/vectored, but figured I would look for feedback first! And if anyone has any embroidery/jersey hookups, I would appreciate some guidance!
  6. Hey guys, I'm new to this site and would like to give a formal greeting to you all! I would also like to see if I could get some ideas/ creative criticism for this logo I designed just as a side project for Salisbury University. I recently graduated and was never really happy with the original logo (Which you can find online; it's like 50 years old hahaha) . I wanted something that kept with our original seagull but was strong and iconic for our university. Let me know what you think!
  7. Hey Guys! Today I have a concept for the Pittsburgh Condors basketball team. I'm a big fan of Pittsburgh sport teams and think they can expand to other sports, like the NBA. I wanted to pick a team name that had some history in the city. I chose the ABA's 1970-72 Pittsburgh Condors. Previously known as the Pipers. The logos I've designed mirrors the city of champions with the good old Black and Gold. I went with Wing-Theme to be slightly different from the Hawks and Pelicans. With the basketball logo, I had to give a nod to the ABA Condors so they are not completely forgotten. ( Although their logo should ) Hope you like this one! ABA 1970-1972 Logo: NBA Pittsburgh Condors 2017 Logo: C&C Welcome!
  8. Here are my designs for the 18 teams competing in the German Bundesliga in the 2016/2017 season. Each team has three kits, C&C is welcomed. FYI the bundesliga patches are only on the left sleeve which is what is normal for the league teams are allowed to sell the other sleeve space for advertising and therefore each team could be different and they haven't been seen yet so I left the right sleeve blank. Hope y'all enjoy, I am looking for a lot of feedback, I will try to explain my designs to the best of my ability so its clear the direction I intended. I will be posting in alphabetical order.
  9. Hello, this is my second thread that I have started. I have an international kit thread going as well if you want to check it out. This thread will be my design concepts for the teams in MLS, this include all 20 current teams plus Atlanta United, Minnesota United, and LAFC All concepts have a Home, Away, and Third kit C&C is welcome
  10. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES NEW LOGO CONCEPT Growing up i've always been a fan of the Timberwolves and what they've done with their branding. I've always liked their logos, colors, court designs, elements of their jerseys, etc. I think they have done a pretty nice job overall over the years. With the Timberwolves rebranding next season, I wanted to try my own version of their logos. I've always been a fan of their original logo, but felt that it needed some tweaks to really make it pop. I have two different mockups that i've done; classic revamp of the their original logo vs. tweak of current secondary logo. I wanted to try and focus on the blue, green, and white colors with the use of black as an alternate color. What do you think of these concepts? Any critiques, suggestions, improvements are encouraged. Thanks guys! Enjoy! Matt
  11. I'm slowly learning the ropes to photoshop. After what took over two hours I managed to make a personal logo for myself. It's nothing special, just black and white with a hidden "TC" like the old Hartford Whalers logo.
  12. After essentially starting my love of graphic design on this site, I've had quite the number of opportunities to create logos, both business and sports, for various people over the last year. With these developments, I've had to come up with a new business/personal name and logo. I would love people's opinions on my brand new logo. I'm not posting it to change anything, more to just get people's opinions on it. My new name is now Dynamic Lights Design. It was originally TJK Designs, to coincide with my name. But at the moment I'm at right now, I thought it would be a good time to come up with a name that meant more to me. The Dynamic part of the name comes from the albatross. The albatross has a special meaning to me from experiences in my life. It's also a good word for the dynamic part of design. The light part of the name is also very meaningful to me. The lightbulb can also represent the many ideas I have in my design work. Along with my main business/personal logo, I decided to branch it off with 2 other variations of my name and logo. I have Dynamic Lights Concepts, for the concept work I do, mostly on this site. I also have Dynamic Lights TK 97, which is only for personal projects I create for myself or friends and family. And of course, I had to make a roundel logo, for all those times a roundel logo is needed. And I just love making them haha. So I'd love to know what people think of the direction I went in. Also, if anyone wants to know what my old logo looked like, just ask and I'll post it.
  13. Very impressive. http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2016/july/pentagram-designs-new-logo-and-identity-sytem-for-mastercard/
  14. Sorry, Accidentally duplicated topic. Does anyone know how to delete topics? Thanks.
  15. Hey Guys! Today I have a logo design for a hockey team named Scranton Storm. Just a cool logo I wanted to see come to life. Now, if you notice, the lightning bolt looks like an "S," for Scranton. The shield behind the bolt is just to make the logo feel more complete. I have a Home and Away jersey to see how that would look. I hope you guys like this one! Logo: Jersey: C&C Welcome!
  16. Quick to the point, whats your favorite design element that you love to see in a uniform or jersey? Any sport is welcome lads personally for me, i love football uniforms that have the Colts style shoulder stripes, it looks classic and timeless but still modern and classy
  17. I've seen several posts where people have mentioned mocking up various concepts in the NBA2K series of games. I don't own a gaming system more advanced than a Wii, and I don't typically have much time for video games anyway. From what I understand you can create your own teams, and you have a lot of latitude in designing them. Can you also create your own league from these teams? Just curious. Also, I wish Madden would bring that back. Remember the PC Madden games where you could design your own helmet in Paint and import it into the game? I had some really sweet ones for Madden 04. lol
  18. Interesting talk about design, and specifically, flag design.
  19. There seems to be a macarena-like fad of sketchup stadium concepts, so im putting this here so the individual concept threads dont get sidetracked from the actual concept to the '''whoaa, how maaaan?!" type deals. so, heres sketchup :http://www.sketchup.com/ and heres what i use to render the scenes: http://getvisualizer.com/ both free. Anyway, a little about the craft..... here, have a seat: ....very simple. 3 planes. practically modern art. not many people dig modern art, so lets slap some textures on: heres a quick render of the same thing...oooh... sexy seat: heres the back: still simple, but showing that you can assign a front and back texture to one plane. ...and the sexy back: but hey, you might be asking, what if i want a diff color seat? no prob you can tint the color of the texture within the program, and not actually modifying the base texture file. this is why i had the textures in grayscale. its easier to do this that way (but still possible otherwise with wonky results). so youre like, great! but thats too much work to photoshop textures. i just want stuff man. tough! here's all the source material, do it yourself! ........ ok...here you go all in .png format to preserve transparent areas. now i realize that seating isnt crucial. you'll just slap a texture on a wide area and call it a day. i just use this as an example because you can apply this elsewhere, and when you really think about it, its not that hard to go the extra mile. .....actually it is kinda hard...initially......what i meant is, its totally worth it. everyone else feel free to add some jazz.... questions, concerns, comments etc.

  21. Of all the team logos in the NBA, the Detroit Piston's current logo may be one of the simpler ones. It is merely the team name on a basketball which is fine for an expansion team but not for a team with as great a history as the Pistons. My concept calls upon the greatest era of the Detroit Pistons and that would be the eighties through the early nineties. Back when they were known as the "Bad Boys". The focal point of this concept is in the primary for the jerseys have only received slight changes. The primary features details from the "Bad Boys" era of the Pistons as well as a couple of pistons, the team's namesake. The secondary is simple and the only other real major design change is in the "Motor City" alternate. So, here they are. The Primary Logo: The Secondary Logo: Home Jersey: Road Jersey: Alternate Jersey: C & C appreciated!
  22. Note from the OP: We haven't had good baseball concepts in a while on here (no offense anyone) and it's that time of year again to start up. So I thought I would lead off and start a brand new series. I have progressed majorly since my last baseball concepts. Links below. I got new templates, better tools, more experience, and better feedback. Not just 30 ppd noobs who joined a week ago. Sometimes even veteran posters comment on my work, and I am very grateful. So um...thanks for all that. Onto the concept. This is going to be a redesign of every team in the CWS last summer by region. I am starting off with the Coral Gables, Florida Regional (No, I did not choose that one so I can actually share an ECU concept I made, there are lots of them, it was completely random-ish, I picked an adidas team to showcase my new template on), and the 1 seed and host team Miami Hurricanes. Yes, every team will have adidas as their manufacturer. Here'sthe Canes of Miami! Next we head to Greenville, NC to take on the currently #19 (shameless plug), and 2 seed East Carolina Pirates!
  23. I've started a website for what I'm calling The OKC Flag Project. I've partnered with a local charter school to publicize the project, solicit submissions, and get the city council to take it on. I know we've got a lot of talented designers here, so check it out if you're into flag design! Thanks, everyone.
  24. Thought I'd share some of my logo & design work from the past & present. Got about 15-20 so will post 5 at a time. Feel free to leave C&C. As always thanks for stopping by!
