  1. NBA Reverse Retro Series Why hello everyone! It has been years since I've been on the boards, but it's great to be back! With my first topic back, I wanted to tackle a project I worked on for fun late last year. The NBA Reverse Retro Series. After the NHL put out their Reverse Retro series of uniforms, I wondered what it might look like if the NBA did a similar thing. Now it is way harder to bring back a classic look for some teams because they never really left their classic look. The rules I set for this project were simple. Bring back a classic uniform from sometime in each team's history, but altered to fit their current colour scheme. Just like the NHL, team's could go back in their history, even wearing a jersey from a different city. Similar to what the Avalanche did with the Nordiques uniform. To start, this is the teaser, with each team represented and the year which the uniform is based on. I found all the logos and examples of the original uniforms from right on this site, Sportslogos.net. I will add, I won't be making any changes at this point, I finished this project about a month ago, but I wanted to share it here and see what people think of this idea. C&C is appreciated!
  2. As a Jazz fan who's not a huge fan of the current design (minus the City Edition jersey), I figured I would try my hand at redesigning the team. Changing the colors to dark purple, teal, and copper, the team resurrects a snowflake logo. The Association uniform is off-white, the Icon uniform purple, the Statement uniform teal, and the new City Edition uniform a gradient going from pewter blue to dark blue. C&C welcome!
  3. Turning this into all of my NBA Concepts thread. Utah Jazz City Concept (this post) (V2) (Court) Dallas Mavericks Full Rebrand (V2) (City) So, to preface, I obviously based these off of the uniforms and logos this year, making them a ice-ey, snow-ey, mountain-ey version for next year. I think in general I did a good job, but I'd love to catch some feedback. If you want the template I made, I posted it here a while ago, and will be adding an updated version with the shorts soon. Anyway, let's jump in. I hate writing details to go with the uniforms/logos, so you can use your imagination on what I did for different things. One thing to note is that I used the Oquirrh mountain range for the right side striping (left looking at it in an image), and the Wasatch mountain range for the left side. I also took inspiration from the old Jazz all star logo to make the new snowflake logo. OK here it is. Snowflake logo Mountain-Note logo Version 1 Version 2 Version 3
  4. Didn't see a thread for this: http://www.nba.com/jazz/nike1718?_ga=2.241182981.688412386.1502590075-2085097014.1496195062 http://www.nba.com/jazz/news/jazz-reveal-first-two-uniforms-2017-18-season
  5. So there is a lot of speculation today about a few new NBA primary logos coming out. For the Utah Jazz, it is almost certain that they will simply move their "note" logo up to be the primary, get rid of the current "mountain" primary, and then create a new secondary logo. I took the liberty of designing what I thought was a neat concept. It plays off the geometry of the "note" logo and incorporates the U, J initials into the boxy state of Utah. It's very simple, but I think it goes well with what they have and the current direction of NBA logos in general. Let me know what you think!!
  6. With the "announcement" of new primary logos for the Jazz, Kings, and Pistons, what does everyone hope to see? I think that the Jazz may just do something simple and make one of their secondary logos the new primary, but as for the other 2, I have no idea. The pistons will go back into their history in some way I am sure but the Kings could just go wild (and I hope they do).
  7. So there is talk of the Utah Jazz getting a new logo. With the roundel craze that is happening in the NBA I wouldn't be surprised if Utah went that route. Just look at their draft party logo. I thought what if they just cleaned this up and used it as the logo. So that's what I did. There is an option if they keep their current colors, revert to retro colors, or retro colors with Gray introduced. Let me know what you think and what I should change.
  8. I believe a general consensus exists on this forum that The Utah Jazz note wordmark is outdated and kind of clunky looking. To fix this, I did a sort of Frankenstein surgery on the Utah Jazz logos from years past in a sort of combination of eras. This is the Stockton/Malone era wordmark with the jagged spikes removed from the sides of the letters (their jaggedness did not match with the smoothness of the logo and the overall "smooth jazz" identity the name evokes. From there the classic j-note is added. So that's that. I would love some comments for encouragement and/or improvement
  9. I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the singular or non-plural team nicknames out there in the sports world- like, dislike, if they seem to fit in some cases but not others.
