  1. Looks like the WBC gear is starting to roll out. No major changes - any idea what the jersey's will look like? https://www.lids.com/wbc USA baseball really needs a new logo
  2. So, I recently became aware the of the Miami Marlins batting practice logo, and let me just say, I'm a huge fan. Such a big fan that I would like to see it become their full time logo, which is the direction I went in with this concept. I used Brandon Moore's excellent Nike template, which I first became aware of through the Neat-O Gang, and completely eliminated all the extraneous colors from their color scheme, focusing on just orange and sky blue. Home- As with all the jerseys, I used a blue hat and helmet with orange brim and blue socks. The main accent pattern is a simple two toned stripe on the sleeve's edge and the side of the pants, and the #OB stays similar to their current with 3D effect, because you know, Miami. Away- Identical design as the home. Alternate 1- This is the alternate I envision as being their main alternate, worn both at home and on the road. Still very similar to the previous two, with white numbers with orange shadow. Alternate 2- I don't really like when teams have two similar alternates, such as the Marlins do, so I shook up the Orange jersey with the recolored M on the left breast, blue sleeves, and the Flag of Miami as a sleeve patch. I would envision this as being only worn at home, with it having a "Miami Pride" kind of theme. What do you think of this new look for the Miami Marlins? Upgrade, Downgrade, still meh? C&C appreciated as always, thanks!
  3. The Reds from Cincinnati have one of those classic marks with a very high recognition value. However, the black 3-D shadows the club has added when they rebranded back in 1999 are very outdated. Therefore, they had to go – plus my mark now got a slightly thicker outline.
  4. The Colorado Rockies changing their primary logo from the mountains to the interlocking CR is a lateral move for a brand than needs to be refreshed. The core concept is strong but it definitely feels dated. So here's my swing (sorry) at a Rockies update. Silver is eliminated from the logo and purple takes center stage. The mountains are cleaned up while still feeling rugged. The proportions of the new logo and the old are almost exactly the same--I designed the new logo on top of the old one--but the half roundel is thinned and the ball is given a clear launching direction, breaking through the atomosphere. I designed a purple monochrome version of this logo which I think looks better, but since I do plan to use black in the uniforms , I felt it'd be better to have black feature in the logo as well. My biggest complaint of the Rockies current set is that awful font. I hate how it looks like the CR is silver with a too thick black inner outline. The new CR originally had a black outline but thinking on some classic hats (Yankees, Dodgers, Reds) a solid color on a contrasting color looks great by itself. Again, in addition to refreshing the look, the goal is to make the new bold purple the main character. Proportionally the new CR is just a little taller than the old. Wordmarks use the same fonts as the primary and don't look like a too thick black inner outline was applied. Cool! Uniforms coming soon but here we are!
  5. After two full re-designs (NFL & NHL), I've decided to take on a less daunting project and just have a little fun. This thread is simply just MLB cap designs. I will be doing designs for all 30 teams and some extra defunct teams. I'll be creating 9 different caps for each team. There is no real rhyme or reason to any of my designs. They're simply just what I was feeling at the moment. As usual, I'll give a brief explanation of each design and why I did what I did for the respective team. As always, I'm open to ideas from any of you or what you'd like to see. Once completed, I may go back and add jerseys for each. But, for the time being, I'm strictly sticking to the caps. Some elaborate and others will be very traditional. Lastly, there's no specific order I'm going in, so if you have a request of what you'd like to see next, feel free to shout it out. That being said...here are the first two teams. San Diego Padres I may fall into the majority on this one, but when I think of the Padres, I think brown and yellow. It's unique, and quite honestly I think works well for them. Most of these caps are based around that color scheme with the modern SD logo. I did throw a few in there with the blue and orange of the 90s (personal preference). If I had to choose a primary, it would be one of the three on the top row. The others would be BP/Throwback ideas. Boston Red Sox Boston is one of those classic teams. Again, if I'm going primary, it would be the top left design. Keeping it simple. The rest are mixed and matched color schemes along with some retro logos.
  6. This is a project I've actually had for awhile. I decided to take the Brewers current logos and put them with the old Brewers colors. I only used Microsoft paint for this so yes it is a little low quality on some of the logos. Feedback appreciated!
  7. Hey all This is my first post and this is a little something I did in Microsoft paint. I recolored the Mariners logo and replaced the teal with more of a bright green. The 2 logos in the top right are the cap logos, couldn't decide which would fit better. Feedback would be much appreciated!
  8. One (of my many) uniform pet-peeves is match-ups involving mixed throwback uniforms -- or even worse -- a throwback vs. current era match-up. I love that baseball is more apt to get both teams in era-appropriate throwbacks -- and to some extent the NFL in 1994 (NFL 75th) and 2009 (AFL 50th) seasons. But, the NFL and NBA have had some horrible mix-matched match-ups. I thought it would fun to find some of the worst ...
  9. Hi All, My name is Brandon Johnson, otherwise known as hawkfan13 on here and I have decided to take up the challenge of redesigning all 32 team logos in the MLB. So far I have 2 done, the Brewers and the Dodgers. These are potential portfolio pieces for me so any advice and cc is appreciated. Thanks for looking Brewers- In my opinion, the logo they have now is getting stale, it has now been around for a year longer (16 years) then arguably their best logo the glove in the shape of a m and b, which would be used as a alternate logo. In this case I wanted to revise their current logo into a more modern sans serif version of it.
  10. Yesterday I looked through all the Boston Red Sox logos here on CCSL and realized that I never really liked the club's alternate circular logo. I've never been a fan of the two red sox which have become the primary mark back in 2009 – although it's pretty comprehensible (I wish the "B" would become their primary one day). I'm also not happy with the dominance of the color white in that logo. However, I decided to ditch the sox and replace it with the very famous and popular "B". I created two versions, a navy- and a red-heavy logo. I didn't change the basic design of the original mark from 2009, simply because it's a classic. Link to the current circular logo: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/0bzkkgggeec16jy2ktp8jl7ej/Boston_Red_Sox/2009/Alternate_Logo
  11. We have players in the wrong uniform -- and teams in the wrong stadium. So, why not a teams in the wrong uniform thread? I'll start off with a few obvious ones ... (pretty much any Turn Ahead The Clock Jersey to be honest) What would you add to this list?
  12. Quick question for all, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MOCKUP/TEMPLATE CHRIS CREAMER USES FOR THE MLB JERSEYS??
  13. So here's my first try at Illustrator (been working in PS with rasterized images). So far so sweet, lots of processes, but then end results are so awesome and the vector sizing is awesome!
  14. Hello anyone, I was wondering if anyone out there has the font the Blue Jays use (preferably the one that has the pointy edges) as I'm working on a photoshop project and I planned on using the font but all I can find is the back of jersey font and thats your run of the mill block font. I'm looking for the one on the front of the jerseys and numbers with the double lines.
  15. After watching the Giants' Color Rush throwbacks and mulling the (hopeful) return of blue and gold for the LA Rams, I got to thinking of the return to old logos. A few come to mind as of the past 15-20 years. And, sure, there are many more that could have been used as an example (ie- Islanders, Sabres, Blue Jays, Hawks, Kings, etc) ... But, what other teams are there in the Big 4 that you would like to see a return to a previous logo as their main logo? Here are a few I'd love to see, but I would love to see what many of you have in mind as well ...
  16. Let me get straight into this. Canada hasn't won a major North American sports league title since the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup against the Los Angeles Kings, 4 games to 1 and the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, 4 games to 2. Since then, 4 Canadian teams make the Stanley Cup Final only to lose: the Vancouver Canucks (1994, 2011), the Calgary Flames (2004), the Edmonton Oilers (2006) and the Ottawa Senators (2007) and 1 Canadian team did make the MLS Cup only to lose: the Toronto FC (2016). Also we can't forget that two former Canadian NHL teams relocated to the States in 2 consecutive years: the Quebec Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche in '95, while the original Winnipeg Jets became the Arizona Coyotes in '96. Many NHL fans not only in Canada but also around the world (except the U.S.) thinks it was former Los Angeles Kings defenceman Marty McSorley that put a curse in the Canadian NHL teams after the Habs won the 1993 SCF, while many NHL fans in the U.S. thinks that Canadian teams has a lot of bad luck against the American teams when they compete in the Stanley Cup Final. The Blue Jays only returned to the MLB Postseason 22 years after the last World Series title. They won the American League East Division in 2015 and they won the AL Wild Card berth the following year. In the 2015 ALDS they beat the Texas Rangers, 3 games to 2, while in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual World Series champs Kansas City Royals, 4 games to 2. The path was longer in the following year: They won the Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, they won the ALDS against the Texas Rangers once again, but this time they swept that series by 3, but in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual American League champs and World Series runners-up the Cleveland Indians. Many Blue Jays fans thinks the 2-year row ALCS losses against the Royals and the Indians thinks it was bad luck and no good playing, while many non-Blue Jays fans thinks the Jays had bad luck against the Royals and the Indians. This year, the Toronto FC surprisingly advanced to the MLS Cup by winning the Eastern Conference title, they dominated the game but however, they did heartbreakingly lose the title to the Seattle Sounders in the penalties, 5 to 4. Many TFC fans thinks the loss was a bad luck and missed opportunity, while Sounders fans thinks TFC had bad luck against a team that has former TFC goalie Stefan Frei, who had a memorable MLS Cup by winning both the title and the Most Valuable Player award. Canada has only one NBA team: the Toronto Raptors, who had won four Atlantic Division titles (2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016) but they were eliminated three times in the first round and one time in the East Final: 2007 and 2014 against the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and 2015 against the Washington Wizards and lost the 2016 Eastern Conference final against the eventual NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers. Many Raptors fans thinks the team had a lack of luck but non-Raptors fans thinks the Raptors had bad luck against American-based NBA teams in the Playoffs. There are two reasons behind this horrific drought: 1) American Dollar always gets valued than the its Canadian counterpart 2) American teams has more luck than the Canadian teams when we there is a sports league title on the line So, guys, what do you think about this terrible drama involving Canadian-based North American sports league teams?.
  17. Flash back to 2009. My late grandmother was in town, and we decided to take her to Tropicana Field to see a World Series rematch between the Rays and the Phillies. Two things I remember about that day is that we got a baseball card made with her picture on it, and she could not for the life of her make out what teams were which sitting in left field because the grey is really really light. Baseball teams play 162+ games a year, they have throwback games, and some teams wear their colored alts more than their regular uniforms. So let's have a little fun, and go all the way. I started a group text chat with a couple young professional designers a few months ago, and over time we titled ourselves the Neat-O Gang. We always talk about doing a collaboration, but this is the real first one we do. You'll see my concepts, but you'll also see ones by my buddies. They'll link their twitters when they post their concepts. Pretend Nike signed a deal with the MLB for next year. Let's just say they're for weeknight games where the crowd might be smaller than normal. We're going to post some colorful alternate uniforms for all 30 teams, no matter the history. The colored uniforms can be worn as a road team against a white team, or as a home team forcing the other team to wear their Color Rush uniforms. So put on some sunglasses and sit back! Quick shout out to MJD7, I had this idea for a few months but they just completed their color rush concepts and I didn't want to steal their thunder. Arizona Diamondbacks Atlanta Braves Boston Red Sox Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds Cleveland Indians Colorado Rockies Detroit Tigers Houston Astros Kansas City Royals Los Angeles Angels Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins New York Mets Oakland Athletics Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners St. Louis Cardinals Tampa Bay Rays Toronto Blue Jays Washington Nationals
  18. After getting a little bored and thinking of teams in more sports than hockey that needed an update, I decided on the Colorado Rockies. I'm not sure about you guys, but from the moment I really started to really started to look at the Rockies' logo, I realized it was just crap. The font was outdated and just looked bad, and it was an odd mashup of wordmark and logo that just doesn't work. However, I tried to redo that while maintaining some of the logo's best aspects, and adding some new mountains and double purple. My goal for the redesigned Rockies was to be mostly black-free to create a more colorful and unique identity. Here is my initial product. With the primary logo, it is what I wanted it to be; a more simple, more purple, updated version of their current logo. I completely redid the mountains, which was my goal, as well as refined the shape and introduced a new font. However, when I look at the area under the mountains and around the "Colorado", something looks off. I can't put my finger on it, and I'd love if one of you guys could help me out. Here's a secondary logo I made pretty quickly. Not a ton to say, just a recolored Colorado flag 'C'. It'd make a good cap logo. In addition, I had some spare time and decided to photoshop my logo where the huge Rockies logo sign is at Coors Field. I was going to make jerseys, but I need to get more ideas and actually figure out how to make a good baseball jersey. What are your thoughts?
  19. The sunny state of Florida is home to numerous athletic clubs. They have nine professional clubs in the Big Four leagues of North America. I noticed that every team has a crappy uniform component. Breaking it down further; In the NFL, we have three teams from different parts of the state. The Miami Dolphins have questionable colour choices (navy?) and a bland uniform for a team called the Dolphins. The Buccaneers have awful numbers, weird colour choices, and an odd combo of stripes and piping. The Jaguars have a strong colour combo but terrible uniforms. In the NBA, we have the Heat and the Magic. The Heat aren't that bad but a couple tweaks could be greatly beneficial. The Magic have gone in the opposite direction of where they should be headed. The NHL provides some of the best uniforms out of the bunch. The Florida redesign was so much better than their last set, but a few tweaks could knock it out of the park. The Lightning have another boring set, despite another inspiring name. The MLB fields two of the last teams. The Marlins have such a great colour combo (minus black) and have so much potential, but it has been wasted. The Rays are close to a homer of a set, but tweaks should fix the problems. My last project ended eight months ago. I haven't made a concept of any kind in over half a year, so bear with me. Let's begin with the Dolphins. I love the throwbacks that the Dolphins have. I think it's a consensus that they should go back to those full time. Here's the full set. The home set features a teal top and white pants with their old logo, because it's great. The road set is a whiteout because I thought it looked good and the colours really stand out. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I loved the Colour Rush jerseys from this year. I used white pants and socks to balance the colours a little better. I have returned at last. Leave C and C!
  20. Hi everybody! Given the positive feedback I got from my Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros tweaks, I decided to go for a full MLB tweak series. I'll make the designs in alphabetical order, alternating between the American League and the National League (e.g. Baltimore Orioles, then Arizona Diamondbacks, then Boston Red Sox, etc.). I'll be designing at least three uniform designs for each team, and for those with major changes (logos, wordmarks, etc.) I'll post those designs as well. Let's start with the Orioles! IMO, the Orioes have one of the best colour schemes in the league, but their uniforms could be improved. The orange and black trimming from the cuffs and pants are changed for a pattern inspired by the Maryland flag, the wordmarks and logos stay the same, except for the sleeve logo, which, given there's already a Maryland reference, becomes the "O's" logo. The new socks design is inspired by the 1901 road uniform.
  21. So after looking at the Padres' past uniforms and what they have now, it's obvious what they used to have is better. I wanted to bring back brown but use a color from their recent history, so I went with the powder blue from the logo used 2004-2011. One of my biggest design rules is, with a unique color scheme, you can have rather simple uniforms. So by using powder blue and brown, I think the Padres can have a very unique look while doing something new. The home uses the script from 1974-1977. I used the original primary logo on the sleeve but made it brown and white. Finally, the cap logo from 1985-2003 is found on the hat. The away uses the wordmark from the 1991-2003 roads sans dropshadow. Primary Alt Road Alt C&C appreciated
  22. So, a lot of the new people on here don't know me. Mainly because a.) I haven't posted much on here lately, and b.) The last concept I posted here was OVER TWO MONTHS ago. The last IDCrisis was two whole months ago, apparently. However, throughout that time, I've been making lots of concepts, mostly baseball and ECU stuff, but even a whole athletic wear group, whose logo I accidentally made from mirroring the "A" on a custom font I was making for another concept, and I thought it looked really cool. You'll see it on my concepts from now on until I get a new logo, so get used to it. This series will redesign all 30 MLB teams + a "What if the Expos Never Moved" concept. Each team will have a Home, Road, Alt and Colorblast(Color Rush) jersey, and maybe more defunct teams if the feedback is really good. I plan on completing this series, however it might take a while, because my RL is pretty busy right now. Also, there will be a couple "challenges" within the series. There will be a little "easter egg" in every logo. Onto the first team! Team 1: Arizona Diamondbacks, The Most Interesting Set in the World Unpopular opinion alert: I really like the Dbacks new set. ICYMI, Arizona added a bright teal color, to take the role of co-secondary color with tan. they also added a very interesting pattern on the arms. They now have 8(count 'em, 8) jerseys, most of them the same color. What's going on now: My take: Are you really sure you want your eyes scarred? You do? alright, you can go ahead and look. But I am not responsible for any damage this does to your eyes. Alright 3, 2, 1, Reveal!!
  23. The 2016 World Series will be a historic one, to put it mildly. The Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series in 108 years; the Indians have waited 68. In just a few days' time, the history of one of those long-suffering teams will be changed forever. That's a pretty big deal. So for this set, I decided to look at some meaningful uniforms the two teams have worn over the last century. Much like my previous entries in this series, these uniforms would be worn a couple times per season, tops. The Cubs and Indians aren't true rivals, but I have a feeling they'll become them after this postseason. Let's start with the Cubs: CHICAGO CUBS For the Cubs home set, I decided to go with a clean, pinstripe-less look based on their home unis from 1945, which was the last time they appeared in the World Series. I used their current primary logo and a white cap with blue bill similar to their 1908 caps. I went with road pinstripes for their away set, but replaced the old "bear with bat" logo with their current "walking bear" alternate logo. CLEVELAND INDIANS: The Indians home set is a combination of two looks: their 1948 home unis and their late '80s "Major League"-era unis. As such, I'm thinking of making this uniform off-white to give it an old-timey look and to separate it from the Cubs home set. Their road set is loosely based on the Cleveland Cavaliers "Pride" uniforms, which the Cavs wore when they clinched the NBA Finals Championship this past June. I'm thinking of adding front numbers on the opposite side of the block "C," as well as eliminating the sleeve stripes to make it even truer to those Cavs jerseys. I left the road cap blank for now because I haven't yet decided how it should look. I'm leaning towards using Chief Wahoo, so that every cap in this series won't have a "C" on it. As controversial as Wahoo may be, the fact remains that he's been a big part of the Indians identity for the last half century. Any suggestions for the cap would be great. As always, C&C appreciated!
  24. A couple years ago, I decided to take a stab at the NY-Penn League's Connecticut Tigers after they introduced mascot logos that looked like they'd come out of a 30s Mickey Mouse cartoon (and I say that in a good way). The road jersey in that concept was basically the Sparky Anderson-era grays, but with CONNECTICUT instead of DETROIT on the front. A few years removed, and I've decided I wanted to see what the big leaguers would look like in a similar set. First, the home and away... Like I'd done with the CT Tigers, the home whites are tweaked more than anything: orange trim is added to the D and lettering, and the tiger head appears as a left sleeve patch. Orange trim is also added to the cap D. The grays take their cues from the 80s, with orange-white-navy cuffs and pants striping, and eliminating the white outlines and front number. The socks also now have orange stripes. There is a home alternate, basically a white version of the grays, the chief difference being the Tigers script instead of Detroit. For the hell of it, I included a slightly toned down version of the CT set's striped alternate-most of the jersey stripes blend in, with only two remaining navy, fewer stripes on the cap, and the pants are still navy, but with more normal looking striping that wouldn't be pooh-poohed as something more befitting the Astros. But wait, there's more! In the next post, a second variant!
  25. Well, this is quite the surprise. Under Armour takes over for Majestic in 2020. Fanatics gets the apparel rights. Nike and Majestic are out of the MLB Licensing business. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2016/10/17/Marketing-and-Sponsorship/Under-Armour.aspx
