  1. Hi everyone -- had a good time making my 2017 MLS series, so now I'm going to start a similar series for 2018! Once again I'm using the SS Kits template from the Football Manager community, just this time I'm swapping homes/aways from my 2017 series, of course. Also, just to keep things fresh, I'm going to go in reverse order from the last series and work my way backwards through each conference alphabetically. Also will do full sets for LAFC and Miami when I get to those, though I suppose I'll have to design my own Miami badge, eek! EAST: Atlanta United / Chicago Fire / Columbus Crew / DC United / Miami / Montreal Impact / New England Revolution / New York City FC / New York Red Bulls / Orlando City / Philadelphia Union / Toronto FC WEST: Colorado Rapids / FC Dallas / Houston Dynamo / LA Galaxy / Los Angeles FC / Minnesota United / Portland Timbers / Real Salt Lake / San Jose Earthquakes / Seattle Sounders / Sporting Kansas City / Vancouver Whitecaps
  2. Any feedback is welcomed!
  3. Went for something similar to what Dryworld did with QPR. I've always felt that this is the look the Caps should have rocked since day one.
  4. Hi all! It has been many, many minutes since I was working on design regularly. Trying to change that now with another run through my own versions of 2017 Major League Soccer kits. They might look a little weird since my usual template (the SS Kits template for Football Manager) doesn't come with shorts and socks, so I had to frankenstein a couple templates together. But hopefully you'll at least get the idea. I intend to run through each conference alphabetically, only doing one kit per team based on what they're actually due for in 2017. At the end I'll do the full sets for the two expansion teams. Also I've read conflicting things whether all next year's kits are going to go back to shoulder stripes or not, so I'm just gonna put the stripes wherever I feel like on that particular kit. So here goes. EAST: Atlanta United / Chicago Fire / Columbus Crew / DC United / Montreal Impact / New England Revolution / New York City FC / New York Red Bulls / Orlando City / Philadelphia Union / Toronto FC WEST: Colorado Rapids / FC Dallas / Houston Dynamo / LA Galaxy / Minnesota United / Portland Timbers / Real Salt Lake / San Jose Earthquakes / Seattle Sounders / Sporting Kansas City / Vancouver Whitecaps --------------------------------------------------------- First up is Chicago Fire, which is actually a hard way to start as I think their current away set is perfect and exactly what they should wear. I tried to stick with the Chicago flag theme, based on the colors and the stars in the lower right of the shirt, but change up the design some.
  5. Let me get straight into this. Canada hasn't won a major North American sports league title since the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup against the Los Angeles Kings, 4 games to 1 and the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, 4 games to 2. Since then, 4 Canadian teams make the Stanley Cup Final only to lose: the Vancouver Canucks (1994, 2011), the Calgary Flames (2004), the Edmonton Oilers (2006) and the Ottawa Senators (2007) and 1 Canadian team did make the MLS Cup only to lose: the Toronto FC (2016). Also we can't forget that two former Canadian NHL teams relocated to the States in 2 consecutive years: the Quebec Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche in '95, while the original Winnipeg Jets became the Arizona Coyotes in '96. Many NHL fans not only in Canada but also around the world (except the U.S.) thinks it was former Los Angeles Kings defenceman Marty McSorley that put a curse in the Canadian NHL teams after the Habs won the 1993 SCF, while many NHL fans in the U.S. thinks that Canadian teams has a lot of bad luck against the American teams when they compete in the Stanley Cup Final. The Blue Jays only returned to the MLB Postseason 22 years after the last World Series title. They won the American League East Division in 2015 and they won the AL Wild Card berth the following year. In the 2015 ALDS they beat the Texas Rangers, 3 games to 2, while in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual World Series champs Kansas City Royals, 4 games to 2. The path was longer in the following year: They won the Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, they won the ALDS against the Texas Rangers once again, but this time they swept that series by 3, but in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual American League champs and World Series runners-up the Cleveland Indians. Many Blue Jays fans thinks the 2-year row ALCS losses against the Royals and the Indians thinks it was bad luck and no good playing, while many non-Blue Jays fans thinks the Jays had bad luck against the Royals and the Indians. This year, the Toronto FC surprisingly advanced to the MLS Cup by winning the Eastern Conference title, they dominated the game but however, they did heartbreakingly lose the title to the Seattle Sounders in the penalties, 5 to 4. Many TFC fans thinks the loss was a bad luck and missed opportunity, while Sounders fans thinks TFC had bad luck against a team that has former TFC goalie Stefan Frei, who had a memorable MLS Cup by winning both the title and the Most Valuable Player award. Canada has only one NBA team: the Toronto Raptors, who had won four Atlantic Division titles (2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016) but they were eliminated three times in the first round and one time in the East Final: 2007 and 2014 against the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and 2015 against the Washington Wizards and lost the 2016 Eastern Conference final against the eventual NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers. Many Raptors fans thinks the team had a lack of luck but non-Raptors fans thinks the Raptors had bad luck against American-based NBA teams in the Playoffs. There are two reasons behind this horrific drought: 1) American Dollar always gets valued than the its Canadian counterpart 2) American teams has more luck than the Canadian teams when we there is a sports league title on the line So, guys, what do you think about this terrible drama involving Canadian-based North American sports league teams?.
  6. For those of you who don't know, the North American Soccer League (NASL) was the first major attempt to establish a professional soccer league in North America. Running from 1968-1984, it built the foundation for the United States hosting the 1994 World Cup and, subsequently, the founding of MLS and soccer's increased popularity in this country. I thought it would be fun to make a concept series combining elements from former NASL teams with current MLS teams. So here we are, with my first team: the Colorado Rapids! Colorado Rapids Soccer in the Centennial State started with the Denver Dynamos from 1974 to 1975, but it's the 1978 Caribous of Colorado that are probably most well-known. Their notorious uniforms were the height of gaudy 70's aesthetic: fringe, disco collars, and short shorts. This concept follows the general design of the original team but with those 70's elements removed and recolored for the Rapids (don't worry, those white lines on the clash won't be fringes, just a design). I also created a new badge out of the wordmark from the Caribous, placing it on an oval which gave me the impression of a beer label. In a similar vein, I have the sponsor as Coors, which just makes sense to me. Many (all?) of the uniforms in the NASL were not as, um, ambitious (?) as the Caribous, so some of these MLS concepts will be a little bit less exciting (I'll probably take some artistic liberties in those instances). Anyway, here's the Colorado Rapids and I hope you have plenty of comments about it.
  7. So last year I did a 2016 series of MLS kits. So I'm back with the 2017 template. City seals (or state) are in top of collars and have no real them some will have city pride etc. Atlanta United FC Home - Simple with a bit of detail within the stripe. Away - Again kept simple and classy with thin pinstripes. C&C much appreciated.
  8. Well, the Timbers are the MLS Champions for 2015, and that puts a capper on the 2015 domestic season. Time to talk about 2016! I'll get it started: Sports Illustrated is reporting (from a reporter for the Davis Enterprise) that the NASL will announce a San Francisco franchise next year. This is huge because the NASL desperately needs a West Coast team (or at least a WST team) to maintain their DII status. But... downtown San Francisco? Sounds excellent, but where?
  9. Hey all. Mark Cuban has just decided to build a new stadium in Pittsburgh and start up an MLS expansion team, Pittsburgh FC! (I wish!) Soccer kits and logo design are new for me so any CC is much appreciated Only have the home jersey done for now. Let me know if I should go on with the other two jerseys. Thanks! Sorry for the AWFUL crop job. Not sure what was happening.
  10. Hey Guys! It has been awhile since I've put up a concept, so here we go. This is a concept for the MLS Chicago Fire. I tried to make it more modern so it can fit with the new "feel" of the MLS. I kept a few touches from the old logo and some from around the MLS. I hope you guys like this one! C&C Welcome! Thanks!
  11. Hello all! Haven't been on the boards for a while but more time is free for me to do some designing so without further aideu - MLS 2020 - A look into the future Heres a few things to note before we get into it - Posts will come somewhat regularly, but i do have to be a student, so no guarantees. Many Thanks, Asterix
  12. Concept done for the MLS team in Atlanta before the team name was announced Check full project here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/26539007/Atlanta-MLS-Team
  13. Never been a fan of the Seattle Sounders badge - been mulling over ideas for the last few months, finally tried it out, fairly happy with the outcome but C/C always welcome. some of the wordmark looks a little clunky, but it's a draft so maybe just ignore that for now, I'm aware. Thanks guys!

  15. I got my first good look at the new Minnesota United logo, and noticed that although it is largely unchanged, there were a few minor alterations. We all knew about replacing the full name with "MNUTD", but there's more. The loon has been enlarged, and the wing now has a gray outline around the feathers where they rise above the shield. The star has also been moved over a bit. The colors may also have been tweaked, or that could just be a result of inaccurate logos online. The current logo was taken from Wikipedia, next year's from the mothership.
  16. The title says it all. The reason I brought this up is because me & a buddy were discussing ugly uniforms. It made me notice that the State of Colorado has ugly jerseys galore. MLB- The Rockies are a team that all love to hate on here. The too-much black, the vest jersey, everything about the set looks bland and bad. NHL- The Avs wear RBK Edge Piped awfulness and I hate the new C shoulder patch logo. And I don't care, that alternate jersey is bland and needs tweaking. Plus, Navy and Maroon don't work often. NBA- The Nuggets jerseys looked better before the unnecessary wordmark & number colour change they made last year, which I still never got. Why use black numbers? The yellow alternate jersey looked better before they changed the wordmark too to that Rainbow- era wordmark last year too and that jersey was fine and should be the basis for a new set. That sleeved alternate (The White-Gold jersey) is meh. The jersey itself is awful, but the shorts look okay. NFL- I don't care how iconic you think they are, the Broncos look dated. Now that Manning is gone, this should be the time to change and re-modernize one of your much better looking sets. MLS- The Rapids are nothing special & that yellow jersey they wear is ugly. So, just my thoughts. Who do you guys nominate or do you agree with my choice of Colorado?

    NYCFC Concept

So here is a NYCFC concept, that I made. Made in Paint, so it's a little rough. First kit is light blue with orange and white accents. I wanted to add more orange into their identity. Shorts and socks white. Man City connection as with their current kits(owned by the same company). Clash is a nod to their stadium partners, the Yankees. With deep navy blue and white pinstripes. An NYC flag is located in the jock tag, and a pentagon(NYC's 5 boroughs) under the collar. Messi and Aguero are the names because this was originally for my MLS Super League where all the world's best players played in MLS, but that has lost my interest. the font is Thornaby by Conrad. Also now by Nike. C&C appreciated.
  19. Hey Guys! If you remember, I already made a Revolution Logo concept, I just had an idea and wanted to run with it! This logo is a simple crest with 13 stripes for the US flag. Also, I have "N" and "E" for New England that fills in for the stars. 1776 for the year of United States Independence. And there you have it, another Revolution Logo Concept. Hope you like this one! C&C Welcome!
  20. Let's start with a new series. For this one I imagined what if the MLS made a deal with Umbro and all the clubs started to be sponsored by the Diamond Brand. I know, if the MLS ever change the sponsor, the new one probably would be Nike, but I wanted to use Umbro because it's a brand which is reborning from its ashes and it's making great designs again. In each post I'll be uploading a home and away kit design for each club, starting from the team with most titles (LA Galaxy) and ending with the last one to start playing (the Miami expansion team). NOTE: I started making these designs back in January, so, if one of them resemble some of the newest designs, it's just a coincidence.
  21. Recently, I've been wanting to do a MLS series but I didn't want it to be generic so I came up with the idea of tweak each team to have a NFL Color Rush type feel. Here's Chicago! The home is based off the stripes from the flag of Chicago and the away is a nod to the original 1998 set.
  22. Hi guys, here is my latest rebrand, a brand identity concept of MLS Real Salt Lake. I've never really found the team's name and identity very suitable for an American soccer club, specially not for one being based in Utah. There was a time when fans actually hated the current logo and name of their club a lot more than nowadays. I guess most fans just got used to it throughout the past years. However, I decided to rebrand the team's logo package my way. Gone is the European name and crest, plus the colors. The logo now looks more American style and the team's name has changed from Real (Royal) to Highlanders, a popular name suggestion among fans which nevertheless couldn't convince the ownership to get rid of the Euro football homage eventually. A look at Real Salt Lake's current mark: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/39441222010/Real_Salt_Lake/2010/Primary_Logo Primary logo detail Alternate logo detail Wordmark logo on team color backgrounds

  24. So, I became a huge MLS (and soccer) fan when Orlando City SC played its first MLS game in front of a sold-out Citrus Bowl in my hometown. Now, as the league has declared its goal of 28 teams by 2024, I will try and predict the kits at this time. The current 20 franchises will be joined by 8 expansion teams (Atlanta, Minnesota, Miami, LA, Sacramento, Baltimore Phoenix, Detroit, St. Louis). I also have a few surprises in store. RULES 1) This is just a minor pet peeve of mine, but I really don't like how in the country where we call the game "soccer", we use "FC". So, every team that currently uses FC in their name is changed to SC. I know some team names don't sound as good this way (FC Dallas/SC Dallas), but I think it's the way to go for this league. 2) Teams may pick what company designs their kits. 3) Mono-red is kept to a minimum. There are WAY too many mono-red teams in MLS, and I want to change that. It's about the equivalent of red-white stripes in the EPL, or red and navy in MLB. EDIT: Phoenix now an expansion city instead of Baltimore. I think Baltimore is too close to DC to support a separate team. TEAM MAP (on a very distorted North America)
