  1. Apologies if this is a little too early, I had a question about what teams we know for sure are changing in the fast approaching new year and didn’t know where to put the question so I figured three weeks left in the regular season isn’t too bad a time to create this thread. How many teams are for sure changing in the upcoming year? I know that the Rams supposedly are, I believe the Browns have been confirmed, and there’s rumors of the Buccaneers and slight tweaks to the Raiders for their new home in Vegas. Anyone else I’m missing?
  2. NFL season starts on Thursday night with the Packers playing the Bears. With that in mind, it's time to open up this season's Weekly Picks competition. I don't need to explain the rules*; this is my fifth season doing this (still can't believe that it seems like just yesterday when I took over the competition; time flies), so you guys know how I do it by now. Good luck to everyone here, and good luck to your teams, except for you guys in the NFC South who will all be fighting for playoff spots that the Bucs won't be fighting for. Week 1: Green Bay vs. Chicago Kansas City vs. Jacksonville Atlanta vs. Minnesota Tennessee vs. Cleveland Buffalo vs. NY Jets Baltimore vs. Miami Washington vs. Philadelphia LA Rams vs. Carolina Indianapolis vs. LA Chargers Cincinnati vs. Seattle NY Giants vs. Dallas San Francisco vs. Tampa Bay Detroit vs. Arizona Pittsburgh vs. New England Houston vs. New Orleans Denver vs. Oakland I try to have the standings updated by about noon on Tuesday at the latest. That's the standard I adopted in 2017 and have stuck with. It can be earlier than that as well, depending on various circumstances, but they should be submitted no later than that point. If I'm going to be out-of-town early in a week and that deadline might be untenable, I'll make a note of it ahead of time. Thankfully, it doesn't appear I'll be displaced by a hurricane during the first weekend of the season this time around. Wasn't much fun last year, though compared to most people I know I had it much better than they did. -- *I lied. One rules reminder: Picks for the specific games are to be in by the kickoff of those respective games. I do believe in the honor system with this game. People here have lives, things get forgotten about, sometimes a game might accidentally be forgotten to be selected out of the vast Sunday swath (though I'm hoping to amend that a bit if I post the week's schedule in advance). If a game is forgotten about, you can send a DM or send me a tweet (@KramerIndustry) and, more often than not, I will be generous enough to give credit. If Cleveland is facing New England and NE wins and you forget to make that pick, then I'll logically presume NE would've been the pick and give the nod (do they even play each other this year? Who cares) (EDIT: It took several years to happen but that's finally a bad example, but you get the idea all the same). All I will ask is not to abuse this, is all.
  3. This may just be a puff, but usually where there's smoke, there's at least a spark if not a small fire. So take it for what it's worth. (Mods feel free to move or remove as deemed necessary.) Rumor: Bucs New Uniforms Coming? Pertinent from the link: The last time I saw that line of logic was about three years ago, out of Amy Adams Strunk, before the Tenneessee Titans ended up cosplaying as titans who play football, so...
  4. Hey everyone, It's been a long time since I've posted on the boards but I am back with a project that I have been wanting to do for awhile now. Re-designing the NFL has always been an idea of mine but I never had the time. Well, over summer I finally had some time, got a new/faster computer and started going to work. Anyone who has followed my other threads, know that I'm not a big logo designer but I learned how to use Illustrator and with this new knowledge, there will be some logo changes to the league. Before I get started, I just want to lay down some guidelines for this thread. One helmet rule still applies (I don't hate this rule because I don't want NFL teams having multiple different helmets like in college). Color Rush uniforms for every team No NFL 100 logo on helmets and uniforms I'll start out with my favorite team's division and work through the NFC, then the AFC, and then I might finish it out with a few surprises. In my next post I'll have the Packers' concepts. Alright here we go. NFC NORTH Chicago Bears Detroit Lions v2.0 v3.0 Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings v2.0 NFC EAST Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Philadelphia Eagles Washington ............ NFC SOUTH Atlanta Falcons v2.0 Carolina Panthers v2.0 New Orleans Saints Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC WEST Arizona Cardinals Los Angeles Rams San Francisco 49ers Seattle Seahawks AFC NORTH Baltimore Ravens Cleveland Browns Cincinnati Bengals Pittsburgh Steelers AFC EAST Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins New England Patriots New York Jets AFC SOUTH Houston Texans Indianapolis Colts Jacksonville Jaguars Tennessee Titans AFC WEST Denver Broncos Kansas City Chiefs Los Angeles Chargers Oakland Raiders
  5. It's almost 2019 so I figured I'd make this. We already know about the Jets getting new uniforms and that's super exciting https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/ray-ratto/oakland-lawsuit-vs-raiders-nfl-begs-potentially-league-shaking-question The City of Oakland is sueing the Raiders and is trying to get a Cleveland deal for the rights to the Raiders name. If the Raiders name sticks with Oakland, it will probably never be used again given how unlikely an expansion or move to Oakland will be. There's a small chance that December 30th will be the last time the Raiders name ever takes the field
  6. After delivering the nuke on the previous concepts, I took a break from doing art as it were but then the stuff I had wasn't up to scratch so using the modified templates from @edjb93 to which he got from the original templates of @LEWJ... I present my own personal takes on the NFL, unknown at the moment if I'm going with the expansion teams I did last time. Presenting the Home kit with two alternate pants, the Road kit with two alternate pants with the Alternative kit, the Throwback kit and borrowing the NBA's City Jerseys to create a special one game only Big City Set. THIS IS WHAT THREAD CONTAINS AS TO WHY IT EXISTS: The NFL had a strike season of 2021 because the NFLPA and the league couldn't come up with an agreement thus the Super Bowl wasn't played... everyone lost money and the scapegoat was Goddell, he was immediately fired after the confirmation of a strikeout season. The New England Patriots no longer had the immunity that they had from Goddell's biasness and were immediately found guilty via an independent commission of benefiting via a corrupt commissioner... the new owners banned the team from post-season for 10-15 years, forfeitures of first round draft picks and stripped them of their Super Bowls won in the Goddell era thus giving Seattle, Atlanta and the LA Rams the wins. Adidas and Under Armor challenged the exclusivity deal of NFL's deal with Nike and it went to the highest court in the land which ruled that it was an unfair competitive advantage and forced Nike to drop teams in order to not being fined in the billions... they kept some teams in return like the Rams and the Cowboys. Big City is what it's called and it's essentially done by the designers, kind of like what the NBA does.... and there are some bad, BAD ones. THE NFL CONCEPTS NFC East Dallas Cowboys Philadelphia Eagles Washington Redskins New York Giants North Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears Detroit Lions Minnesota Vikings South Atlanta Falcons Carolina Panthers New Orleans Saints Tampa Bay Buccaneers West Arizona Cardinals San Francisco 49ers Seattle Seahawks Los Angeles Rams AFC East Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins New England Patriots New York Jets North Pittsburgh Steelers Cleveland Browns Cincinnati Bengals Baltimore Ravens South Indianapolis Colts Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Houston Texans West Kansas City Chiefs Denver Broncos Las Vegas Raiders Los Angeles Chargers Expansions London Monarchs Dublin Celtics (Celtic Tigers) Mexico City Diablos Toronto Argonauts Houston Oilers Brooklyn Beats Oklahoma City Bisons Portland River Hogs Others Hartford Whalers (East) Quebec Nordiques (East) Brooklyn Bolts (East) Toronto Raptors (East) New Jersey Generals (East) Omaha Mammoths (North) Detroit Red Wings (North) Chicago Bulls (North) Minnesota Timberwolves (North) Kansas City Scouts (North) Tampa Bay Bandits (South) Atlanta Hawks (South) Nashville Predators (South) Birmingham Stallions (South) Houston Astros (South) Seattle Sonics (West) Arizona Diamondbacks (West) San Jose Sharks (West) Oakland Invaders (West) Los Angeles Express (West) First of all, the easiest team to start off with. 7. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/12/16/is-the-xfl-coming-back/ I know they kind of teased it at the end of that 30 for 30 special earlier this year, but I didn't think they were serious.
  8. I searched through threads for the past year and couldn't find anything like this, so I figured I would post it. The idea behind this thread is to post interesting facts or statistics that a lot of people don't know. It'll essentially be the answers to trivia questions. I've got two interesting ones to start this thread off. The Minnesota Vikings were the first team to kick an extra point from the 15-yard line. Tom Brady has played two games at University of Phoenix Stadium, but he has never played the Cardinals there. The Pats have played two Super Bowls there, but only played the Cardinals at home since the stadium was built.
  9. Here's a new concept I'm doing. I'm sick of the bad uniform matchups this season. So I've decided to take it into my own hands. Concepts are in no particular order, although I will probably be doing the worst uniforms sooner than later. I will be using an edited version of @oldschoolvikings fantastic template. Without further ado, the first team up are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! Hope y'all enjoy!
  10. So, after watching the game last night, it occurred to me that the Atlanta Falcons have some untapped potential with their identity, and could actually look really good. Any and all feedback welcome! Here's my fix starting with logo: Falcons Logo Concept by HuntTheJones (Based on the combination of the Throwback Logo & Current Logo) So the first is obvious. Take the old logo that's still so popular among the fanbase (at least the ones I know) and the current logo (which I think is actually pretty good) and combine them for a modernized version to make everyone happy. Up next, turf design: Falcons Turf Concept for Mercedes-Benz Stadium Last night made it clear that the throwback turf design is the look Atlanta needs. That said, there is nothing wrong with the current font style they have. So, sticking with the theme of the logo, find a happy medium. Up next, helmet design: Falcons Helmet Concept Nice and simple, just like the helmet they already have. A gloss black shell with nothing but the new logo on each side gets the job done. Up next, uniform design: Black Home Primary White Road Primary Red Home Alternate This is my favorite part. The basis is that each design is based on the throwback worn last night. Their current design is outdated, and nothing stands the test of time like the classic. So, put the current number font, new logo on the sleeves, and "ATLANTA" in small block on the chest. Keep the same pants design as well, just make the primary the old school silver. Rotate white and all black in the mix so you never get stale. Black jersey becomes primary Home, White jersey goes back to Black numbers, & Red jersey becomes alternate. C&C welcome!
  11. Hello! I just want to start a concept topic about a mashup of logos of the franchises from each city. The result will be a logo for each city (in NY and LA two logos) representing the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS teams. So, this is the first one: Los Angeles (part I). -City: Los Angeles -Colours: Los Angeles Lakers colours (purple (#552583 ) and gold (#fdb927) -LA letters from the Los Angeles Lakers jersey logo -Ram head from the Los Angeles Rams logo -'Los Angeles' name from the Los Angeles Dodgers jersey logo -Baseball from the Los Angeles Dodgers logo -Crown from the Los Angeles Kings logo -Shape from the LA Galaxy logo Thank you for your time here.
  12. Hey there! Were you disappointed in an unexciting Super Bowl culminating in the Evil Empire hoisting yet another Lombardi Trophy? Need a bigger fix of football and the AAF isn't doing the trick? Want to see someone display marginal design skills and creativity through a cavalcade of slightly altered striping patterns, new fonts, and superfluous recolors before inevitably burning out and stopping 2/3 of the way through the league? Then you have come to the right place! In the posts that follow, you will see my staid re-imaginings of the National Football League, starting, as nearly every one of these threads does, with the Arizona Cardinals, because that's how the alphabet works. ARIZONA CARDINALS The one distinctive trait of their uniforms during their time in the Copper State has been the incorporation of the state flag on the sleeves from the late 90s to mid 00s, so that's the main source of inspiration. The team colors are altered to reflect this (bye-bye black) and a red facemask replaces the gray one of yore, removing yet another extraneous color from the Cardinals colorway. The uniforms fit the flag onto the sleeve caps, and the solitary angular stripe on the pants carries from the flag as well. The alternate also draws heavily from the flag. Other than that, the red pants are back (only to be used with the white jersey), and a new number font accompanies these changes. Let me know which team you want to see next. I welcome your feedback.
  13. When I was in my early teens, my parents bought me NCAA Football 98 for the computer. I really enjoyed the game, and it was very well-designed for the most part: 100+ schools; full-season play with rankings, major bowl games, and major awards; school fight songs; decent playbooks; something approximating logos on the helmets. It was a very good game for the late 1990s---not as good as the Football Pro series overall, but distinctly collegiate and lots of fun. Anyway, despite the overall quality, there were two details that I have since learned were wrong. One, LSU by default wears yellow jerseys over white pants at home in that game. Two, Missouri's colors are green and gold in the game instead of black and gold. (Come to think of it, I think the latter was also the case in that college hoops game for the Super Nintendo even earlier.) I was wondering: have you guys and gals noticed any similar errors in other games? (Incidentally, Football Pro 98 has the Eagles wearing kelly-green-and-gray even though they were in their second season with their current and inferior color scheme.)

Recently I have gone back and tried to refine each field to be as exact as possible, and its still a work in progress. I got the idea to start posting them after seeing kodrinsky's NBA court database and I thought it would be a good way to get some feedback and some help pointing out any inaccuracies in what I have so far. So, as I've said before, I want to be as exact as possible, so if anyone sees something inaccurate please let me know by either posting a picture or a link to a video that can help me out. It could be something as small as color, number font, or even the width of the lines on the field. Anything will help. I guess I'll start with Super Bowl I Super Bowl I: January 15, 1967. 15. I've been posting my NFL concepts for a few months, but I've been doing them just one at a time. I've gotten some nice feedback (thanks) but a single concepts they do seem to disappear rather quickly. I've decided to gather them altogether, along with a few new ones (like the following Cowboy concept), which seems to be the preferred way most of us do this. As always, let me know what you think. Starting with the NFC East,
  16. Maybe there is hope after all! Crossing fingers it goes back to the traditional look... Tony Grossi‏Verified account @TonyGrossi 11m 11 minutes ago Dee Haslam confirmed to me another full # Browns uniform re-do could be in the works soon as new window opens in 2020.
  17. I saw there was a thread about Tampa Bay Bucs possibly getting new unis for the 2020 NFL season. Here are some markups I did. I kept the Retro unis pretty straightforward, but combined the 2 looks with the Retro & the early 2000's. Please give me any feedback you may have.
  18. We have the Players in the "Wrong" Uniforms thread and within that thread I've seen a few "Right Team, Wrong Uniform" entries. I thought I'd separate the two, because it is an interesting topic of its' own. Here are a few to start the thread off with ... Charles Barkley, Preseason 1992, Phoenix Suns Matt Hasselbeck, 2001, Seattle Seahawks Jeff Bagwell, 1992, Houston Astros.
  19. I've done many "Vintage Style College Mascots" and as the NFL season gets started I was thinking of what their logos/mascots might look like if they had been created in the style of Arthur Evans. I don't plan on directly using any mascot/logo looks (college or NFL) that are already out there (example: using Pistol Pete for the Dallas Cowboys). However, I may take inspiration from bits or pieces of them. Over the next few weeks/months I'll be adding my newest iterations, please let me know what you think with your comments and/or likes. First up: Minnesota Vikings
  20. I finally decided to post my Minnesota Vikings concept that I made in January. The concept is based on the idea that there is a home/away set, color rush, and a throwback alternate. I based the main set on the vikings current uniforms while also implementing the concept drawings by Hubenthal. I used the current Vikings font but without the serifs, added a white facemask, and tweaked the horn logo slightly. For the color rush uniform I decided to base it on the all white uniforms the vikings wore from 1969-1995 with the UCLA stripes. I based the alternate/throwback on the 1965 uniform set, where the numbers are outlined and the stocks dont have stripes.
  21. Making a separate thread for discussion of face mask color and preference for teams. Unpopular opinion: The Browns look best with a brown face mask.
  22. Well, those of us who are fans of 20 of the 32 teams who missed the playoffs, welcome. Might as well make quick reference to coaching changes (head coach at start of 2018 listed as the "former"): Arizona: Steve Wilks -> Kliff Kingsbury Cincinnati: Marvin Lewis(!) -> Zac Taylor Cleveland: Hue Jackson -> Fred Kitchens Denver: Vance Joseph -> Vic Fangio Green Bay: Mike McCarthy -> Matt LaFleur Miami: Adam Gase -> Brian Flores NY Jets: Todd Bowles -> Adam Gase Tampa Bay: Dirk Koetter -> Bruce Arians Also, NFL Network's Mike Mayock has been hired as the Raiders GM. So, you know, there's this stuff and all the other ways to complain about the way your team sucks.
  23. Hi all, With the AAF season underway and looking more and more like an NFL farm system, I decided to take that literally. I have assigned all 32 NFL teams an affiliate farm team and given them an assigned stadium. However, I will keep the current eight teams and assign them to NFL affiliates with minor recoloring to match their respective teams (they may receive new stadiums to scale down though). I will be going division by division and explaining team names, starting with the AFC East going till the NFC West. I'm excited to work on this, so here goes nothing! Toronto Hogs (Buffalo Bills Affiliate): Nicknamed the hogs due to "Hogtown" being one of Toronto's many nicknames, Toronto would make a great ground for the Bills affiliate, as it would allow for the NFL to expand internationally for the first time and since the Bills played a game in Toronto annually for many years in the past, the affiliate should have fan support. Orlando Apollos (Miami Dolphins Affiliate): The team name and logo remain the same, but are recolored to the Dolphins' signature teal and both shades of orange they used in their history. New Jersey Fighters (New York Jets Affiliate): Obviously a reference to a fighter plane, like the Jets and the logo is in a similar style to the parent organization, even with the impending branding change. It would allow for the team to hang onto their older, retro identity. Providence Minutemen (New England Patriots Affiliate): Referring to the famous soldiers during the American revolution, it fits the Patriots' brand and identity. Let me know your thoughts/suggestions! I will be doing the AFC North next!
