  1. I decided to put my Canadian City Flag Soccer thread on hold for a few days, (it can be found right here), and I slightly modernized the Penguin's old logo. I smoothed out the lines, and made it look a little more fierce. Let me know what you think.

    SEATTLE SPACEMEN

Just wanted to share a new logo design I just completed of a football fantasy league team for a member of these boards. As always C&C welcome. Thanks for checking in!
  3. I've been lurking the boards for a while, but I decided to join today and share some of my work. I wanted to take the flags of cities, and use the colours in soccer kits (somewhat inspired by Ilfhockey's NFL Flag concepts. The colours are used in the home and away, then the third is any colour I felt like using. So first up: Toronto
  4. Hello! I've recently been creating "team motto designs" for my own enjoyment. This is my second post for this, as my old post was getting a little messy (my fault). I've made some for my favorite teams: I can get the approximate colors for every team in the NHL, NBA, NFL,MLS, EPL and MLB. I will try my best to find the right colors for foreign teams and I will try to use the correct font but that isn't always doable. ( I couldn't find a navy font, so I used the air force font for the navy one) If you would like to request some designs made for you, feel free to comment in this format: Team Name Preferred Motto (If you dont know, I will try to find one) Preferred Logo Preferred Font (I use dafont.com) Any other requirements (Certain colors, throwbacks, etc.) This is definitely not an only-requests post. I would LOVE any constructive criticism in the comments and will take any suggestions into consideration. Please cut me some slack if they're not Hi-def 9000p, I'm just using Microsoft 1997 with Microsoft Paint on an old Windows Vista computer. I don't have the money or the material to make my first-time concepts like a professional graphics designer would. (but I sure wish I could ) I cannot guarantee when your request will be done, because I don't know how many requests I will get. The motto designs that you see above you were invented by me. I have never seen any sports motto designs ever before, so if you have seen something like this on sportslogos.net or somewhere else, i didn't copy it. I would like to see it though, so please leave a link below if you have seen motto designs before, it would help me improve. These designs will work for your signatures, and were designed to. If you use your requested designs, I humbly ask of you to cite me in your signature. Just a "Team motto signature designed by Word02" would be great. Thanks! Instructions on adding signature images To add a image to your signature, go to your profile and click the "Edit my profile" button. So now, you should have a tab on a left for "Signature". Use the "polaroid of the tree" button on the editor toolbar to add the image and enjoy (I hope ^^) your new signature. I borrowed his "table of contents" and his "instructions for adding signatures." Thank you so much!
  5. Hello! I've recently been creating "team motto designs" for my own enjoyment. 6. Hey guys- After a hiatus due to focusing on the end of school and creating plans for the summer, I am back. The inspiration for this thread is 1clkgtramg's Tamaria thread. After looking at it I decided to showcase my country a few years in the making, Acalia. The name was just made up on the fly a few years ago, and it has really been fun to make up histories and leagues for this fictional country. Heck, I haven't even bothered to do a map, and I gave the country a population of 10 billion just so I could make a lot of leagues. On another note, to start this thread off, I want to show off the flag, national crest, and the sports board logo. FLAG The flag is designed after a typical European flag and displays the national colors. Purple represents loyalty and the royal family, white represents purity and the judicial branch, and gold represents the wealth and bright future of the country and the senatorial branch. A simplified crest of a black triangle is displayed in the center, which represents the 3 branches of the government working together and the 3 original countries that agreed to form Acalia, which were Acadia (not Acalia), Barbaria, and Lutheria. Black represents the unbreakable bond between the government and Acalia's citizens. CREST/COAT OF ARMS The coat of arms's colors and triangle mean the same thing as in the flag, but in a different setting, and without white, so the meaning of white is also incorporated into the black. The first letters of the 3 original countries that made up Acalia appear in the middle, with the full name of Acalia on top (Semi-Monarchy of Acalia) and the country's motto (forever steadfast) on bottom in Latin (Firmus in Aeternum). SPORTS BOARD LOGO The board is the governing board of sports in Acalia. The logo appears in the national sports colors of purple, gold, and white, and has the triangle and the initials of the board in the center of the roundel. A roundel was chosen because of its simplicity and its distinct renown as one of the most common shapes in sports. Alright. I hope you get pumped for this series, and hopefully the national soccer team will be posted later today. Until then, C&C is welcome, even on the crest and sports board logo.
  7. What teams do you think have had too many color changes throughout their histories? Houston Astros- They stayed consistent until navy and gold went off into brick and sand. Atlanta Hawks- They've used every color it seems like and can't figure out what is an iconic combo. For me, it's yellow/red. Cleveland Cavs- Sort of like the Hawks, I think their current combo is beautiful but they went through too many colors to get here. Vancouver Canucks- The green and blue is the signature, but they did flip their combo in a weird way for almost 20 years. The NFL has been the most consistent IMO of keeping a general team-by-team color combo that is signature for every team. What are some of your favorite/least favorite color changes, and what current teams would you like to see maybe change colors? P.S. Miami Marlins made a big mistake ditching their teal.
  8. Share any pictures that you took during professional or college games you have been to. So if you were at a NFL, MLB, MiLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, EPL, NCAA, CFL, AFL, NASCAR, etc. game/match/race/practice post them here. No pictures of high school or youth leagues, please. I get that most good cameras aren't allowed in most stadiums so most pictures here might not be in the best quality. Here are some pictures I've taken over the years at sporting events... Bucks vs Blazers pre-game from this season Badgers "chopping down" the goalpost after win over Minnesota in 2014 Aaron Rodgers TD pass to Richard Rodgers at Vikings in 2014 Badgers pre-game vs Bowling Green in 2014 March Madness 2014: Frank Kaminsky and Badgers tipoff vs Oregon Lambeau Field flyover vs Saints in 2012 Packers season opener vs 49ers in 2012 Tim Lincecum pitching vs Angels in Spring Training NFL Thursday Night Kickoff game vs Saints in 2011 (National Anthem) Jordy Nelson riding bike to training camp in 2008. 13. I thought I'd open up the floor while we're all enjoying a fine Sunday off (well, some of us anyway. I'm typing this from work) to a topic which has been lightly discussed and at varying intervals seems to fade in and out of sports sluglines. It's no secret that some athletes don't like the media. We got a faceful of that from Marshawn Lynch on media day as he plainly repeated the same answer to every question: "I'm here so I don't get fined." Today another press-weary athlete, Kevin Durant, told the media that they "don't know ," and has accepted that he can't escape them so he's simply learning to live with it. Are there legitimate gripes on behalf of the players? On the whole are the media too invasive, negative, and scrutinous? It's hard to say. I usually take the side of the player until the moment they say something they themselves know is stupid, such as: Your opinions are bogus because you're not a pro athlete like me You're all out to destroy me We all know your job is to be negativeI know that some really, really stupid people want the press to be this happy go lucky rah-rah entity, but that's thankfully the exception to the rule. Some coaches browbeat their players into creating an "Us vs. Them" mentality that breeds hostility regardless of the situation. It's stupid. Beat reporters generally aren't out to get people and their jobs require asking difficult questions. I also feel that professional athletes should have the self-awareness to accept their responsibilities that go along with their pay. Higher tiers of talent merit harder scrutiny and raised expectations. Deal with it. There are absolutely terrible writers out there whose joy apparently derives from a scorched earth writing style, but they aren't the norm, in my opinion. What happened? Sports media in yesteryear would often protect the players by not divulging the nasty truth they would often witness, wanting to paint them as heroes. Now it seems that the unyielding thirst to be first to a story coupled with a dying print medium that demands controversy to eke out another few years of existence has mated with social media to form an amorphous creature that drinks the blood of scandal. ...or is that a lot of crap and professional athletes need to keep their mouths shut? What's your take?
  14. Hey Guys! It's been a long time since I've posting something, so I hope you like this one.C&C More than welcome!

    NFL urban

IM BACK!!!!!!!!!! Well after an overwhelming response to my previous thread called 'NBA urban' I'm back with NFL urban which will have more emphasis on the teams crowd and the fans than on national landmarks so I hope you enjoy it now starting off with the official NFL logo
  16. There are a lot of names in sports that are hard to pronounce. You may also get bugged when somebody mispronounces a name. Post some names that you don't know how to pronounce or how to properly pronounce them. ex. Pekka Rinne= (pe-KUH Ree-Nay) Henrik Lundqvist= (hen-rick Lunk-vist) Jonothan Toews= (jon-a-Then taves)
  17. What are everyones favourite font's for uniforms? Obviously big changes have come in the last few years but what has worked? and what hasn't? I personally love teams pushing boundaries and looking for something different.
  18. I've always had a fascination with sports and logos. As a kid, I would sketch re-imagine logos for teams from the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL. I always appreciate a good sport logos and strived to improve ones that were not so great (ie. Blue Jays T-Bird logo). I recently decided to go back to my logo loving roots. I thought, what it would look like if the Toronto Raptors logo looked like the Toronto Blue Jays logo and vice-vera? This is the birth of The Hybrid Logo Series. Check out more on my website http://johnmong.com
  19. This thread is about smaller companies that not many teams for any sport use. My youth football teams when I was a kid used Adams, Allson, ASA Football, and Russell. Feel free to name some more unpopular choices for uniforms

  23. I was listening to some of Rich Gannon's radio show the other day from Sirius XM, and he does a tremendous job. Tried to catch some Brady Quinn's analysis to see if it was any good. Kurt Kittner of the Fighting Illini does their color commentary now. Pat Mannelly of the Bears recently joined the WSCR midday show and is getting better each episode. I figured it might be a fun topic to talk about guys who were either pros or notable college athletes that entered into the journalism or media fields and are actually doing a hell of a job on a mostly local or relatively low-key national basis. Tell me some success stories, big or small, that you wouldn't really notice unless you lived in the area.
  24. I've recently watched one of the 30 for 30's on Reggie Miller and the New York Knicks. One of my absolute favorites, it seems like I can watch through it every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1O6pT0DHCU
