  1. As I'm sure many of you have heard, the 2016 Winter Classic will be hosted at Gillette Stadium featuring the Bruins and Canadiens. A great rivalry finally taken outside. For this game, I'd love to see the Canadiens in these 1911-12 throwbacks.
  2. Several weeks ago, a "polar vortex" drifted down from the north and froze our nuts off for a week or so. The upside to the freeze was that we scored a couple of days of outside shinny on the pond behind us, before warmer temps returned to melt our rink. Man, there's nothing like strappin' on the blades and playing some pond-hockey. Now the NHL has scored big on its outdoor "Winter Classic". It's HUGELY popular. It's become a New Year's Day event and destination. The players appear to enjoy it also. Is it appealing to puck-heads because it's become a "ritual" of sorts to celebrate hockey's roots? Anyway, the few days of shinny urged me to finish an old project. This isn't a concept, per se...it's actually something I put together for my kids. I fleshed-out the idea using mostly images lifted off the net...but the words are all original and all mine. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great New Year's everyone, and enjoy the Winter Classic... The End.
  3. Hey all, It's been a while since I have had some time to make some concepts. I've had this idea floating around in my mind for a while now (since the Capitals unveiled their uniforms for the winter classic), and I finally had some time to put this together. For the Capitals, I really do like what they're wearing for the WC, but I think that the barber pole striping on the yoke is a little overkill. Because of this, I changed the yoke design a little so that it both honors the original intentions of their design (homage to past teams), and also speaks to the District of Columbia. I also like what the Blackhawks are wearing, but don't necessarily see it sticking around because it is wayyyy to similar to their current road uniforms. What I put together is a little mashup fauxback combining elements from different eras in Blackhawks history. C&C always appreciated. Enjoy! edit....I also have a full set based off of this WC concept for the Caps that I will post soon!
  4. The Washington Capitals revealed the jerseys for the 2015 Winter Classic when they play against the Chicago Blackhawks http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/09/washington-capitals-2015-bridgestone-nhl-winter-classic-jerseys The jerseys are putrid! I can't even describe how bad it is.
  5. After seeing how great the Winter Classic was at Michigan Stadium, and how much I want the Columbus Blue Jackets to have the chances they need to gain traction and survive as a franchise, I came up with this. The NHL needs to get involved in the Toledo War, the war between the state of Ohio and the Michigan territory over the port of Toledo that led to the tremendous rivalry that those two states share today (Ohio got Toledo, Michigan got the Upper Peninsula), and the way to capitalize on the Michigan-Ohio hatred is to have the Detroit Red Wings play against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio Stadium The logo is a horseshoe, for Ohio Stadium, which is horseshoe-shaped and often referred to as "the horseshoe". The interior of it is the open portico to enter the stadium, and the buckeye is off to the side. I'm terrible at original logos, so I kinda threw that together. The rest is why I made it. Detroit was a no-brainer, a vintage-white version of their old white uniforms made so much sense. I added a simple patch for the people of Michigan to bring into Ohio. The Blue Jackets was a little tougher Columbus was a little tougher. I had a blue and red version of their third jersey with just the cannon, and that looks great, but it didn't look like enough for a Winter Classic. I wanted something vintage where I could have the Ohio state outline for the numbers, just like the Barons used, and to make it look very vintage Civil War kind of stuff. I'm definitely open to suggestions on it though. C&C? UPDATE: This is the jersey I rejected because it isn't all that different from their current alternates. However, with the response that it got, I'll promote it. The one major change is the update to the hat logo, replacing the star, which I think the team needs to move away from, with the state outline of Ohio. Not only does it look more Civil War-era, but it does more to appeal to the entire state of Ohio, a pride segment that they have yet to exploit. It doesn't hurt that the red stripes with the silver are Ohio State-like, too.

    Concept to China

I saw this concept on the internet for the Flyers 2012 Winter Classic Jersey Then i saw jerseys selling that looked like the concept, but it wasn't the Flyers actual jersey during the Winter Classic game. Did China turn a concept into sales? Is this the new goal? Found this pretty cool. Lmk what you guys think. PS This might be old news I have no idea. Just found it interesting
