Last year the White Sox honored their 1976 unis but went more conservative by wearing uniform pants rather than their infamous shorts. Probably a good idea. My idea is this: What if the shorts had actually caught on and every team decided to adopt them the following season? Going with this idea, I made concepts for each MLB that existed in 1977 with colored short pants. I'll start out with the pioneering White Sox, who I paired with the Indians. C&C appreciated.
Hi guys! I love logos from the 70's and I thought a great way to see sports-related 70's logos I have never seen would be to create a thread dedicated to arena and stadium logos that were created in the 70's. I have some examples below and everyone is more than welcome to submit their favorites. 1) The Hartford Civic Center actually had TWO logos in the 70's: one that looked eerily similar to the Caldor's department store rainbow, and one that was a ligature of an H and two C's. 2) Here is what the Nassau Coliseum logo looked like in the 70's (I like how it looks like a bird's eye view of a circular stadium with a track and playing surface in the center):
My Brewers alternate throwback logo that I posted yesterday got a good response so I am adding another one of my concepts today. But first, a little bit of backstory... I am obsessed with logos that were designed in the 70's. So that got me wondering: what if some teams that have had the same logo since their inception before 1970 got a new logo in the 70's? What would it look like? The first team I did was the Kansas City Chiefs. I combined a red capital K with a football shape that is made up of a black C and an arrowhead. I am a big fan of diagonal stripes so I couldn't help but include them as the laces on the football. Plus it is kind of reminiscent of warpaint. Here is the logo: . . . . I'd love to hear what you guys think!
