  1. It's been a few days since I finished the Sabres series, so now I begin the Canucks counterpart...tonight, I mash the style they wore for their first two seasons with the flying skate. The Peyote Coyote skates forth to oppose them, this uniform based on the 1974-75 Phoenix Roadrunners, though repeating the coyote on the shoulders the way the Runners had had their logo ended up looking like crap, so I used the moon instead. Tomorrow is 80s Night, this time out I'll make you squirm a bit, see if you can guess which logo'll be used and who the opponents will be. I'll tell you what though, much like I ended the Sabres series with a heritage set, the Canucks series will end with an interesting take on the Millionaires.
  2. Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! So there are lots of cool Seattle NHL concepts right now (yay!), but I thought I'd try my hand at our soon-to-be archrivals, the Vancouver Canucks! As I'm sure you're all aware, Vancouver hockey has had a bazillion different identities. Here's an overview of Vancouver's hockey history for those who are unfamiliar: In this series, I'll try to combine or introduce different styles to some logos through their history. The uniform template I will use is this Adidas template by Matthew McElroy. Please enjoy, and let me know if you have any combo recommendations!
  3. I figure some of you may remember the 50th Anniversary mashup sets I did for the Kings, Pens, Blues and the Stars/Wild/Sharks tribute to the North Stars and Golden Seals (I had practically no reason to do the Flyers, in case anyone wondered about the omission). It seemed only natural that the Canucks wound up being semi-frequent guest stars, and of course the Flying V had to make an appearance, though not in its original black/orange/yellow form. I liked how the Flying V looked in the current blue/green, and decided to see what a Utica Comets version would look like. Took me a bit longer than I thought it would, but here goes: the Flying U!
  4. Not the best however I feel as though the Canucks should go back to their roots and have a logo that actually has something to do with their team name. It features Johnny Canuck on the side patches and main logo, with the striping on the bottom and sleeves forming V's.
  5. Vancouver Canucks New & Old I really like the Canucks colours, but their logo does not suit them in my opinion. I made some small changes to their current alternate logo and put it on some home and away jerseys Tell me what you think, C&C appreciated
  6. I had a bit of trouble sleeping a few nights ago, and then the idea for this mini-series came to me: take all of the Kings' old jerseys (with the exception of the first Edge jersey and the Burger King design). Play a little mix-n-match with their crests and colors. Have various opponents play along. End result: I think I have an awesome idea, and I must post. First up: 60s-70s jersey + Gretzky era crest & colors vs. California Golden Seals San Jose Sharks. Yes, I felt it was worth the effort to cannibalize the Seals wordmark to create a Sharks version. Next up: the Flyers ripoffs worn for most of the 80s + 2000s era logos. Since the 70s night slot was taken by the Sharks...guess who's coming in for 80s night? That's right, the Flying V. Funny thing about the Kings jersey, I was strongly considering either the coat of arms or just the lion as the crest, since I'd soured on that particular crown years ago. Settled for the crown on front, and the lion on the breezers. 90s Night will feature the Forum Blue & Gold vs. the Ducks, while 2K Night's itinerary will feature the Burger King vs. the Coyotes. You have been warned
  7. I figured I would make this into one thread so here it goes... I love the AHL as much as I do the NHL so here are some defunct AHL teams of the past I created. Hamilton Canucks (1992-1994) Saint John Flames (1993-2003) Washington Lions (1941-1943/1947-1949) (For more info on the Washington Lions check here)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Lions More AHL teams of the past to come soon... Comments and critique wanted.
  8. Second in my series of past AHL teams, Here's the Hamilton Canucks! I went with a lumberjack to resemble Vancouver's lumberjack and the shoulder patch is a skate as a nod to Vancouver's past skate logo which is one of my all time favorite logos. Couldn't decide on what color outline to use for the lumberjack but I kind of like the yellow outline to match the skate.
  9. To explain my concept: In 1917 the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Club were trying to figure out a way to make some sturdy and warm hockey sweaters. To this end they went to the local Haida Tribe and had them construct the sweaters. The Haida crafts-people chose to use the design of their traditional blankets, To honor the tribe the Canucks chose to use a Haida style killer whale as their logo.
  10. I really like the Canucks' jersey style they have now, but I don't like the whale, non-matching socks, and the font. Here, I am basically taking their current/vintage 70's look, and combining it with today's logos, and a new number font. 11. My 300th post is being used to start NHL:Project 14, which was going to be a realignment idea but returned to just a redesign. Let's get started with Anaheim The original Duck logo makes its return in a old, modernized version of what once was. The alt. is based off the striping from the Wild Wing mess, and the 4th IS the Wild Wing mess albeit the Mistral font. Boston Bruins These are based off the 1934-1936 jerseys, the first ones to feature black instead of brown. The alt is a fauxback, with the newer alternate bear logo. Buffalo Sabres This one was easy. Added more white, eliminated the pit stains, and unveiled another fauxback that minimizes white, and uses what I think is Buffalo's most underutilized logo, which looks really good in the original blue and yellow. Flames coming soon, C & C welcome.
  12. Jerseys in this thread: Colorado Avalanche Pittsburgh Penguins Calgary Flames Anaheim Ducks Boston Bruins Los Angeles Kings Nashville Predators Edmonton Oilers These next concepts I will be bringing you (first time posting on the site) is from a template I recently made, so there are still some bugs I'm working out as I go a long, and as I upload these keep in mine I love listening to constructive criticism. But I cannot change these jerseys anymore since they are long gone from their original .psd file! Hope you all enjoy! The first 3rd Jersey is Colorado Avalanche. Colorado Avalanche 3rd Jersey - With this jersey being my first one with this template, you could say I was a beginner with it. I actually didn't realize it until after I finished that it had a nice hint to the Nordiques, but that wasn't my plan going into it. Rather just create an icy feel to the jersey. - This recieved a Concept of the Week nomination on HockeyJerseyConcepts.com! - Tell me what you think, and hopefully I can upload a new one soon. Can't wait to hear your response!
