  1. Charlotte Very Much in Play as MLS Mulls Expansion Growth to 30 A few interesting quotes: To me, it seems like Charlotte is in a solid third place for expansion, with St. Louis and Sacramento ahead (with seemingly guaranteed spots), but the 30th spot is open for business. Again, successful international matches held at Bank of America Stadium prove this point. Also, while BoA may not be perfect right now, when the time comes to replace the stadium, both the Panthers & the Charlotte MLS team could negotiate to get something like Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium - a football & soccer stadium. (Also, Tepper has expressed his desire for a domed stadium for the Panthers.) This is a big one: corporate sponsors are already there. Additionally, the new club wouldn't interfere with Atlanta, DC, or even Nashville, given how far apart the clubs are. I'd love it if this happens, I can only hope that it comes to fruition. David Tepper seems to be fully embracing Charlotte and he doesn't have any stadium issues that plague so many other expansion bids (and actually killed the previous Charlotte one). Honestly, while it may not be Atlanta-level successful, Charlotte has a history of hosting successful soccer matches (just the other day Gold Cup matches were that drew 55,000, I believe). The bid isn't perfect, but I think Charlotte has a pretty high chance of landing the 30th MLS team if everything goes smoothly. What do you guys think?
  2. Futuristic themed court since the hornets have an old fashion court.
  3. There's apparently an agreement in place to sell the Carolina Charlotte Panthers. Price tag: $ 2.2 billion. The buyer is currently a part-owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The last Steelers part-owner to buy a majority stake in a team was Jimmy Haslam. Make of these facts what you will.
  4. So, now that I got the Miami Marlins off my chest, I figured I should tweak the other teams that have been bothering me too. Nothing bothered me as much as the Marlins, but it doesn't take much to aggravate me...sadly. The next team I wanted to put a paint brush to was San Diego. Like most, I feel they should be going back to the brown and yellow colors. I on the other hand want to put more emphasis on the brown and keep the yellow to a minimum. I have no issue with their current word scripts and uniform style, I just feel the brown and yellow would look better. So with that in mind, here is my version of the Padres. The away has a grey that has very slight orange tint to it, just to give it some warmth with the brown and yellow. Then there is the Home alternate. The big trend of having the logo over the heart/left side is not missed on the Padres. I'm currently working on a brown top alternate for the road as well as a new main logo that will combine a few era's logos with the swinging friar as the center piece. How does that look? C+C appreciated.
  5. hey all, these are concepts for the 2017 all-star game logo (not sure if the logo they displayed during their announcement ceremony was the official one? it wasn't like that for toronto's) & the jerseys. for the jerseys, I'm leaning more towards the west design. so for the east, it'd feature the same "honeycomb" pattern as the west, just with the blue/slate colorway shown in the east jersey diagram instead of the red/burgundy combo of the west. and instead of black letters & numbers with white outlining like on the west jersey, the east jersey will have white print with black outlining, and say "EAST". the letters & numbers on the jerseys are meant to be the same font as the charlotte hornets official logo font, which can be found on as "nba hornets buzz city". the all-star logo is a combination of the skyline of charlotte (top) & a beehive (bottom) inside of a "honeycomb" hexagon. in the top half, the windows of the buildings in the skyline are all lit up, and behind the skyline is a starry purple night sky. the "all-star" and "charlotte" wordmarks are also meant to be in the "nba hornets buzz city" font. the beehive in the bottom half of the logo depicts "stars" flying out of the hive's entrance like bees, and features the "jumpman" logo on the front of it as the event is allegedly being hosted by michael jordan. and the "2017" wordmark is featured in the "tw cen mt" font, on top of a teal background. these designs are not necessarily final, so if any of you are interested in helping to expand on these ideas let me know. thanks!
  6. No I'm not Regis Philbin, but let's play anyway. We start off with this gem out of Tampa.
  7. So I've found some inspiration after quite some time and put together a rough draft of a concept for The Clink room. I feel like the logo is close, but I can't put my finger on quite how to improve it. I know I need to do the merge from the spots to the checkered flag better, but I'm not sure how. Anyway, I present to you the Charlotte Cheetahs. All C&C much appreciated, thanks.
  8. Here is another idea for the Hornets. Based on the old Bobcats cat head/basketball hybrid secondary logo. I also re-designed the body of the hornet from my old Hornets' concept. Also changed up the colors a bit. Brighter purple, less bright orange and a darker carolina blue. Edit alternate updated secondary: Edit: Unis
  9. The Charlotte Knights are moving from there old ballpark on Rock Hill, South Carolina to downtown Charlotte, NC. Thinking this was the best time for them to change there logo, and or there colors. This is there old/current logohttp://www.sportslog...s/19--/Cap_Logo . This is my updated version of there logo with the current colors http://s1367.photobu...c0145a.jpg.html. I will be doing this in other colors.
  10. ******NEW CONCEPT HERE****** So mine draws a little inspiration from all of the Charlotte/Hornets teams. The hornet is slightly influenced by the fleur de bee of the now extinct NOLA Hornets (too nice of a concept to be canned). The Queen City C-Crown takes way from the Bobcats. The wordmark arch/placement takes way from the Charlotte Hornets of old. The wordmark is slightly similar to the Bobcats' current wordmarks. The honeycomb pattern in the uniform side panels are subliminal and are a fairly new brand element. The pinstripes mimick the Hornets of the 90's and past Bobcats' unis. Still in the works. Suggestions welcome. For comparisons sake to the Nola fleur de bee:
  11. Lately I have been looking at a couple of Bobcats games and I've seen banners that read "Bring Back the Buzz". BTTB is a large collective group of fans who want the Hornets to move back to Charlotte or Micheal Jordan to rename the Bobcats. On their Facebook page, they have graphic designers (no professionals that I'm aware of) who has made both uniform and logo concepts. So I said meh, let me take a crack at redoing their stuff. For those who don't know in Charlotte's inaugural season(1988), they used the logo below as their primarys but change it the proceeding season to the cartoonish version with Hugo the Hornet. I decieded to use it as inspiration to create my concepts. So, this was the primary that I ended up creating. I kept the elements of the C and H, only that they aren't block font. Instead, I used Century Gothic as the font and wordmark. As the hornet in the original logo looks blocky, I wanted almost the same appearance too. The only difference here is that I differed to use a silhouette of a hornet with no stripes on the back. The secondary logos are kinda in the air right now. I wasn't sure which to choose from. So in your opinion, which ones should I keep? A B C Just for fun, I made some lacrosse pinnies with a different backdrop under the hornet itself. So, how'd I do?
