Hi guys, I haven't post here for a loooong time.... I don't know if this is the right place for these in case it's not I'll post them in general designs... ^^ I have some stuffs I been working on, I've always been a huge fan of cereals boxes in general. I love the characters, the universe etc. That plus the fact that I am a college basketball lover, I've decided to associate both to create cereals designs with my favorites athletes. Here are what I've done so far, it's not perfect but with a some work and practice I can (I think) be in the right direction. Tell me what you guys are thinking about these. Here are the Tennessee Volunteers with Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield & Smokey the mascot. Here is Rui Hachimura from Gonzaga. Enjoy!
  2. Hi all, I wasn't sure I'd get this done with family visiting, and little rug rats running around but I think I made it before the Round of 64 starts. My annual bracket wallpaper is here. Details on Creation process below image. Round of 32 Initial Bracket Size: 3840x2160 Notes: Since I've gone with a wood floor background every installation I've done these, I decided it was time for a change. The dark blue, golden gray and green were chosen because the Final Four and Championship Game is in Minnesota and it went with the Final Four logo. - I kept the format from last year as it was the best format to read the schools. - School logos are uniformed on the same background. Partially because I liked the aesthetic, but really to cut down on creation time. - New font that is hopefully easier to read, hopefully not comic-sans-y. - Records in Minnesota Green to stand out. Thinking scores will be green for the wining team and navy blue for the losing team, but haven't really decided. - Fog in front of the blue background because I think it looks cool. The added Logo to look like it was rising out of fog wasn't really planned, but I'll take it. I've more than triple-checked my work for spelling errors, etc. However, I've been working on this for a while, I may have missed something, let me know if you notice anything. Will do my best to update the bracket in a timely manner. Enjoy!!
  3. March Madness 2018 is here! I've started a group for anyone around here wanting to join in on the bracket fun over on ESPN. http://games.espn.com/tournament-challenge-bracket/2018/en/sharer?redirect=tcmen%3A%2F%2Fx-callback-url%2FshowGroup%3FgroupID%3D2292457 To keep track of the standings easier, I think it'd be easier if you name your bracket after your CCSLC username.
  4. A while ago I put together a redesign of the Marquette Basketball Jordan uniforms. Looking back at them, I don't really think they would be consistent with something Jordan would make, so I set out to make something a bit more streamlined and modern than what I originally designed. I still have many of the same gripes as before with Marquette's current jerseys. When Jordan redesigned, they did away with the famous Rainbow striping in favor of a simple two color panel that runs down the sides of the uniforms. While it looks incredibly clean, especially in person, it fails to display Marquette's unique and beautiful color scheme like the Rainbow striped jerseys did. In addition, some of the colors are a little too faded for my tastes. While it is forgivable for most of the uniforms, it leads to an issue in the Championship Blue set, where the gold writing doesn't really pop on the jersey well. With these goals in mind, I set out on my MU uniform redesign. Here's what I came up with. With the resdesign, I kept many of the same elements from the current jerseys, including the Marquette script underneath the number, the Big East patch, and the memorial "Al" logo underneath the collar. The biggest change with the uniforms is an updated pattern on the side panels. With experimenting with gradients and all 3 of the school's colors, I came up with an interesting side panel pattern that incorporates all 3 of the school's colors. When introduced to the different colored jerseys, the pattern interacts in different and interesting ways, which I think gives all of the uniforms interesting and unique quirks. Marquette has always been known for having a lot of different uniform sets, so I made sure to include uniforms for all 4 colors. In addition to the pattern changes, I darkened the shades of gold and Championship Blue throughout the uniforms, which help to make a more vintage and rich look. I also made a 1977 "Untucked" Throwback Jersey, replicating the jersey that the then-Warriors wore against North Carolina in the National Championship game. The design features many of the quirks of the original 1977 Championship-winning uniform, including the mismatched gold shorts and the "Marquette" wordmark by the hem of the jersey. While these jerseys are not meant to be worn untucked, they still give the same effect as the old jerseys. These uniforms would only be worn once or twice a year for special occasions. So that's it for my Marquette uniform redesign. I think I was effective in creating a simple way of displaying all 3 school colors on the uniforms while still keeping the current, modern look. If you have any questions/C&C, feel free to comment below!
  5. Hello everybody! After about 2 months of not posting, I'm back! I have looked through a lot of concepts trying to find the perfect basketball concepts for college, I have not found it. Credit to @CAB for his good designs for the teams he did, and SportsFontDatabase. I will be doing the power 5 and the Big East. I will be doing the good teams too but not their whole conference. C&C is always appreiated! You will notice things about this thread: 1. Most of the uniforms are the ones that the currently have, it is very hard to change the uniforms that they have. 2. I have put the sponser on the right side of the uniforms. Enjoy the uniforms! ACC: Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami(FL), NC State, North Carolina, Norte Dame, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest
  6. Instead of making an 'unique' bracket for March Madness I decided to give a theme based on popular culture from the past year. Enter Stranger Things. All logos were used in 1983 which is the year of season 1. I took the time to research each school in advance by going through this website, digitized yearbooks, youtube games, and google searching. I believe this is about 96% accurate to 1983. "In reality NC State defeated Houston as a Cinderella team. That game is considered to be in the Top 5 of greatest finishes in the NCAA Tournament. The Final Four was hosted in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the tournament consisted of 52 teams. In the Upside Down, the tournament expanded to 68 teams and neither NC State or Houston qualified. How will the tournament fare this year? Will we see stranger things happen in March?"
  7. This fall Jordan and Marquette released Marquette's 100th Anniversary uniforms for use in the 2016-17 season. The uniforms take a lot of different elements from Marquette Basketball history and combine them together into one jersey. I like a lot of things about the uniform, but the thing I missed the most was the iconic rainbow striping on the sides of the uniforms. The new Jordan uniforms also are two-colored uniforms, making them look kind of bland at times. However, I think that Jordan cleaned up a lot of aspects of Marquette's look that were a little unorganized and wild on the previous set. There isn't any unnecessary piping or anything that really makes it too over complicated. I wanted to create a concept to combine these two jerseys while keeping the simple, pulled together, historic look. I kept all of the uniforms following pretty much the same template, just switching colors from uniform to uniform. First, for the home and away jerseys. The main change is the reappearance of the rainbow stripe. Both jerseys feature the same throwback numbering and lettering used on the current uniforms. The ventilation holes forming the pattern of the famous bumblebee jerseys stays as well. The home set features navy trim, and the gold, navy, and white rainbow striping with a gray segment on the jerseys. The away uniforms switch out navy striping for championship blue and gray for dark navy. I wanted to keep these two looks crisp and completely traditional. Now, for the alternate jerseys. These uniforms use the same template as the other two uniforms. The only change is on the yellow jersey, where "Marquette" is replaced by "Golden Eagles". Marquette has never done anything like this in their history, but I wanted to try something different with these. The only difference on the championship blue set is a navy outline around the gold lettering and patches. Overall, the jerseys bring back the rainbow striping without being too busy. I think I struck the right balance between the past two uniforms. All C&C is appreciated! Curious to hear how I did.
  8. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/06/kansas-forced-to-alter-jerseys-to-represent-team-usa-at-world-university-games/ The results are terrible -- but understandable, given the circumstances.
  9. In your opinion, what are the worst offenders of all time in the still-ongoing "black for black's sake" trend, or the newer "gray for gray's sake" trend? Current? Past? A few that get on my nerves: BFBS: West Virginia men's basketball, black alternate: They wore these in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, making it all the way to the Final Four, so I'm sure many of you remember them. With dark blue being their primary color, there simply wasn't enough contrast with the numbers. I don't know whether they still have them; I read about a GFGS alternate they were getting a couple of years ago. Temple men's basketball, late 1990s: They still have a BFBS alternate, but this one wasn't an alternate---it was their only road uniform, replacing the gorgeous and iconic cherry red they had worn for years. Kansas City Royals road/alternate, Toronto Blue Jays entire uniform set, Cincinnati Reds road, mid 2000s: All three teams have a color as their nickname, or at least in their nickname, so why would they replace it with black? The Royals' was probably the most atrocious of the three; it was dated even before its introduction and wouldn't have looked good to my eyes even when it was in style (black-heavy late 90s). The Reds' black caps should've been killed off a lot sooner than they were---honestly, I don't see why they even need it as an accent color. I actually thought the Jays' GFGS home cap from 2004 looked decent, but overall they underutilized blue in that set. I was glad to see them go back to a more traditional design. Golden State Warriors alternate, present: Would this be BFBS or GFGS? Either way, it's unnecessary. Detroit Lions, former alternate: It didn't look altogether terrible, had it been for an expansion team or something. But it was for the Lions, who have a tradition-rich (and generally very tasteful) uniform history, with an excellent one-two punch of Honolulu blue and silver. They don't need black at all, much less as a jersey color. Best BFBS: Washington Huskies football and men's basketball alternate, late-2000s to present: Like with West Virginia's, these render the numerals hard to read; unlike West Virginia's, they look cool to me, in a modern "techy" sort of way. Arizona Cardinals: Their BFBS jersey isn't amazing, but it looks much better than their awful red jersey. I do find it slightly annoying, though, because Cardinals aren't black, they're red. This team's whole set (minus perhaps the logo and helmet) is due for a redesign, but they should maintain a black alternate jersey when that happens. Butler Bulldogs men's basketball: They actually look cool. I think navy blue uniforms would also look cool, though. I'd like to see them alternate between the two. Personal pet peeve: As briefly mentioned above, teams that have colors as (or in) their nicknames but wear another color (most commonly black, but not always) instead: Duke Blue Devils men's basketball and (more recently) football: Luckily they use the black as an alternate rather than eliminating the blue altogether. It doesn't look awful, but their blue looks much better. Stanford Cardinal men's basketball and football: Looks terrible, and cardinal is a color that they wear well in addition to being their nickname. You'd think people at such a prestigious school would see the incongruity here. Harvard Crimson men's basketball: Ditto, and they actually don't wear crimson now because of it. Boo. Niagara Purple/Purple Eagles: They sported black unis a few years back when they made the NCAAs. A real head-scratcher. North Texas Mean Green: Same thing. They're not the "Mean Black," they're the "Mean Green." Best and worst GFGS: Tennessee Volunteers football alternate: Best because the gray is a unique shade, it actually looks pretty good (esp. with orange numbers), and it makes me think of Tennessee's legendary Smoky Mountains. Worst because their orange is also a unique shade and it looks great, so any chance they pass up to wear it is a mistake. Next-worst GFGS: Wichita State Shockers men's basketball: Because it denies them a chance to ever wear yellow, the main color of their logo. Anyone else's thoughts are welcome!
  10. I was watching the Duke-UNC game a few weeks ago and had the thought, "What would Duke look like in argyle?". This question has inspired a new series I am starting, a rivalry uniform swap. I know some people have gone in and recolored some football teams with their rival's colors, but this is different. I have decided to take one of the more iconic looks from each team in some of college basketball's biggest rivalries and turn it into a full out design based on their rival's colors. It's hard to explain, so just see what I did below. While I have a few rivalries I personally want to knock out, but I would love to take some suggestions. I've read through several polls ranking the best, gone through my own personal list, and I'm still not all that sure which ones I want to do. Of the rivalries I have planned to knock out, I have (In no particular order): St. Mary's-Gonzaga, Louisville-Kentucky, and Georgetown-Syracuse. I also would like to keep it to a max of one rivalry per team. So I won't be doing another Duke or UNC game unless it is highly recommended. The template I am currently using is TimeOBrian's "Basketball Uniform Template 1" from DevianArt. While I do enjoy this template, I am looking for a slightly better one, one that gives a look at the uniform from the side. If anyone wouldn't mind linking me to a solid .psd file, it would be much appreciated. Now to the actual uniforms themselves!! For the first game in this series, I went with what might be the biggest rivalry in college basketball today, the Battle for Tobacco Road. This series has one of the most iconic uniforms in the NCAA with UNC's argyle, as well as one of the most replicated styles with Duke's "banner" style. For the Duke Argyle, I chose to go with "Blue Devils" instead of "Duke" just to be consistent with the two word name like the UNC jersey. Similarly, I chose to go with just "Carolina" for consistency's sake. C&C is always appreciated!

  12. I haven't seen a topic like this yet. This is topic for the college enthusiasts. NCAA, NAIA, all colleges. Post lists, rankings, opinions, thoughts, concerns, or any newsworthy ideas.
  13. If the Football thread can start seven months before the season actually starts, I don't see why the Basketball thread can't start one month before the season actually starts. I predict Duke will finish the season unranked. There. I said it.
