  1. With Dallas and Nashville playing in the 2020 Winter Classic, I thought it was great that the NHL was allowing more "non-traditional" hockey markets Winter Classic games, so I started work on a Winter Classic logo for a game in Arizona. My 2022 Winter Classic logo is a simplified version of the National Park Service logo arrowhead which seemed appropriate considering where the game will be played. The background has been replaced with the sunbeams from the Arizona flag. The mountain has been replaced with Humphrey’s Peak, the highest point in Arizona, and the sequoia tree has been replaced with saguaro cacti in homage to the southwest. The “Winter” font is loosely based on the fonts used on National Parks signs, while the other text is based on signs found within national parks. I did a few other color combinations as well but I really think the red sky looks the best. For Arizona's jersey I decided to try something that hasn't been done before. I made a very simple crest but I moved it to the shoulder and helmet, allowing a very vintage collegiate look with the ARIZONA text on the chest with numbers. I also added the only good thing ever to come from the Buffalo "Buffaslug" days, and that is stitched numbers. For their opponent. I chose Vegas due to the developing rivalry in the desert. I had a problem with Vegas' logo though since it is so new, so I attempted a fauxback crest. I tried to make it look like their current logo could have evolved from this but if I am honest, I think it still needs some work. Do you guys think I am on the right track here? C+C are always appreciated
  2. I've been looking through my first concepts I had made, Just to compare them with what I'm creating now. I came across the first hockey concept I posted here, an idea for the Coyotes., and yeah, it was pretty bad. Inconsistent Striping, No TV Numbers, Phantom Yokes, and many other execution errors. Looking at it, I decided that I needed to update it. I didn't keep much from the first attempt, but the striping pattern is derived from the sleeve stripes on my earlier concept. I then made the striping consistent across the uniform, removed the phantom yoke, changed the collar, and got rid of the logo mashup. The away features a yoke and the same striping pattern recoloured. I don't know why I wanted brown as the primary colour, so I made two versions, one with my colour scheme, and the other with their current scheme. Version 1 (My Colour Scheme) Version 2 (Current Colour Scheme) C&C is appreciated!
  3. I recently entered a contest held by the Post2Post YouTube channel about redesigning the logo of current NHL teams. It was possible to send a entry for every team but I only entered with three. I chose the teams I already had an idea for which were the Coyotes, Oilers and Islanders. I could have done also the Kings logo but I ran short of time. I'm pretty happy with the overall result as all my logos made the top 63 and the Isles logo arrived 4th (it was 5th but then second logo got disqualified). Still, I was a bit disappointed for the other entries as I felt that in the previous contest they had way better entries in the top10 while in this one some were a tad weak. I'd like to hear some comment on my work as I mainly tried them out just because I really enjoy contests and events even if in the end my works are just average. Here you have the link if you want to have a look to the other entries. Here you have my entries I decided to redo the Coyotes logo just because I've always felt like their logo was nice but a bit too busy near the coyote's eyes and that the only animal head was a bit odd just like that. As a second I went with the Oilers also if I like their current logo (they are my favourite team) but I see that it is a bit outdated and in my opinion not old enough to be an historical one, like the Canadiens logo, so it should be updated. While I quite like the overall result of the drop on the gear wheel in the end I'm not completely ok with the helmet. It looked like a good idea to incorporate it but maybe the logo could have looked better without it. With the Islanders I had the easiest task as their logo is pretty awful. I know they won 4 Stanley Cups in a row with it, but the same I've said for the Oilers applies here. I know that the fisherman logo was higly hated but I think that it was a bold move out of the comfort zone they should repeat in the near future (without the teal please...).
  4. Hey all, Found a tweak that I wanted to share. It looks like they started by using another member's tweak: and then proceeded to add a limbless body to it and use it on a product they sell: Hopefully user "suplauren" got some compensation! Or the Arizona Coyotes for that matter!
  5. I personally think that some of the extinct hockey teams looked the best. The Whalers, Nordiques, Rockies, Jets, etc. had some of my favorite hockey designs ever, and instead now we get to feast our eyes on the Hurricanes and Avalanche. Sad. So, This is basically my attempt to rewrite history, if the new franchises continued the look of their formers, Starting out with the Whaler-Hurricanes. The whalers had one of the best logos in all of sports history, and awesome uniforms and color scheme to boot, which helps to make the Hurricanes design more unique. C&C appreciated, and although I have some more on tap, let me know what you'd like to see next! Thanks!
  6. I had a bit of trouble sleeping a few nights ago, and then the idea for this mini-series came to me: take all of the Kings' old jerseys (with the exception of the first Edge jersey and the Burger King design). Play a little mix-n-match with their crests and colors. Have various opponents play along. End result: I think I have an awesome idea, and I must post. First up: 60s-70s jersey + Gretzky era crest & colors vs. California Golden Seals San Jose Sharks. Yes, I felt it was worth the effort to cannibalize the Seals wordmark to create a Sharks version. Next up: the Flyers ripoffs worn for most of the 80s + 2000s era logos. Since the 70s night slot was taken by the Sharks...guess who's coming in for 80s night? That's right, the Flying V. Funny thing about the Kings jersey, I was strongly considering either the coat of arms or just the lion as the crest, since I'd soured on that particular crown years ago. Settled for the crown on front, and the lion on the breezers. 90s Night will feature the Forum Blue & Gold vs. the Ducks, while 2K Night's itinerary will feature the Burger King vs. the Coyotes. You have been warned
  7. Howdy Guy's so after reading the comments on the Road Runners new logo and needing a break from the problems of my own logo I decided to put together a way, in my eyes, the could fix the new logo. Let me know what you guys think! And also a jersey obviously based off of the current and Kachina Coyotes jerseys Let me know what you guys think!
  8. Name was kind of a no-brainer. We all figured that. Logo is a clean update of the old Roadrunners logo. Colors are the Coyotes colors of brick red and black with copper being the other main color instead of sand. I think the main logo itself is pretty great. Using the AZ patch on the front doesn't make all that much sense, because they are specifically Tucson rather than the Coyotes' Arizona. The only thing that is a bit off is that the head does look like it was just placed on the body, and you can see why that is with the alternate. And speaking of the head, those eyes could've used a little work, but its workable. Alt is kinda weak, and that "Roadrunners" font is... bleh. But overall nice. I'd expect the jerseys to just be Coyotes clones, but we'll see. Primary: Alt: The press release also included some fun roadrunner facts!
  9. Arizona Coyotes announced last night via Twitter that their farm team (formerly known as the Springfield Falcons) are moving to Tucson, Arizona, and at the same time announced a name the team campaign.
  10. This is my concept for the Coyotes ECHL and AHL affiliates For the AHL the Tucson Gila Monsters For the ECHL the Arizona (Prescott Valley) RoadRunners
  11. Hello All, I have been working on a concept for the Arizona Coyotes. Major Changes are: I added the primary logo to the running coyote logo I changed the red to brown. Logo: Home Jersey: Away Jersey: C&C is appreciated!
  12. I had an idea...but only for a third. So here go the Coyotes I've pretty much hated the current coyote head since the day they introduced it. That it doesn't appear here at all is no skin off my back. Capitals I'd been wanting to make a Weagle concept for a while, but hadn't latched onto a half decent idea til now. The alternating stars from the old jerseys make a comeback on the sleeves. Oilers Back in the day, I'd posted some Oilers concepts centered around new uses of the oil drop. Here, I bring back the rigger and use contrasting sleeves with the drop over the sleeve numbers. Alaska Aces An idea I'd used for Alaska's state Aussie rules jumpers makes its return, as the hem and sleeve stripes are slightly curved upwards, inspired by the aurora borealis. Quad City Mallards I'm yelling words!
  13. Years ago, I was member of the Major League Hockey fantasy league. One member had a team that i designed the logo and the uniforms for the team when he was coming up with a name for the team. He decided to call them the 66ers for the fact Route 66 goes through Flagstaff. http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/57624-name-the-flagstaff-franchise/ With all of the talk of the NHL expanding also it would be a safe bet that the AHL would also expand. Plus, having this year the AHL moving several teams out west to be closer to their parent clubs and a other NHL clubs moving their affiliates to them such as Columbus moving to Lake Erie Monsters. I thought of this old concept for a possible new AHL team to become the affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes. The Colors are to resemble the state flag of Arizona with the red being the Coyotes brick red and on the alternate jersey the sand from the Coyotes logo. The design pattern on the alternate is to pay homage to the Coyotes original uniforms when they moved but with a Navajo design influence which is also in the Inaugural Season patch on the jersey. The Secondary logo is of a meteor with the puck inside for the crater that is near Flagstaff that a meteor caused long ago. The Inaugural Season patch design as mentioned has a Navajo inspired shape with the moon representing the Coyotes from their logos, the road representing Route 66 with the team logo being the route sign, the mountain in the background is the San Francisco Peak nearby Flagstaff. I intend to post these on HJC in the future. Any and all input welcome. (the set on the ice background is my initial design in made. I posted the other jerseys as options to what i first made as possible replacements or additions)
