  1. My concept for the NCAA inspired fantasy league i am in. I made a Rebirth sports hockey template based off of their own template design jersey and socks I found on their Twitter feed. The pants template I created using an image of an actual pant shell they had made. All logos are from WSU except the altered WU Shock logo where I added the hockey stick and the alternate crest that i put together using Wichita State's Shockers script. The templates including the CCM helmet which I made are all in .svg for Inkscape. Comments welcome
  2. I was watching the Duke-UNC game a few weeks ago and had the thought, "What would Duke look like in argyle?". This question has inspired a new series I am starting, a rivalry uniform swap. I know some people have gone in and recolored some football teams with their rival's colors, but this is different. I have decided to take one of the more iconic looks from each team in some of college basketball's biggest rivalries and turn it into a full out design based on their rival's colors. It's hard to explain, so just see what I did below. While I have a few rivalries I personally want to knock out, but I would love to take some suggestions. I've read through several polls ranking the best, gone through my own personal list, and I'm still not all that sure which ones I want to do. Of the rivalries I have planned to knock out, I have (In no particular order): St. Mary's-Gonzaga, Louisville-Kentucky, and Georgetown-Syracuse. I also would like to keep it to a max of one rivalry per team. So I won't be doing another Duke or UNC game unless it is highly recommended. The template I am currently using is TimeOBrian's "Basketball Uniform Template 1" from DevianArt. While I do enjoy this template, I am looking for a slightly better one, one that gives a look at the uniform from the side. If anyone wouldn't mind linking me to a solid .psd file, it would be much appreciated. Now to the actual uniforms themselves!! For the first game in this series, I went with what might be the biggest rivalry in college basketball today, the Battle for Tobacco Road. This series has one of the most iconic uniforms in the NCAA with UNC's argyle, as well as one of the most replicated styles with Duke's "banner" style. For the Duke Argyle, I chose to go with "Blue Devils" instead of "Duke" just to be consistent with the two word name like the UNC jersey. Similarly, I chose to go with just "Carolina" for consistency's sake. C&C is always appreciated!
  3. The Jayhawks' football season officially ended over the weekend, and KU was easily one of the worst dressed teams in college football. The University of Kansas is known first for it's long history of college basketball, but KU also has a proud football tradition. While the program as a whole has not been as memorable as it's basketball counterparts, the football team has had it's share of on-the-field successes. The team never looked or played better than their 2007 season with culminated in an Orange Bowl victory. Since '07, the uniform has undergone a few tweaks. Mark Mangino was released as coach of the team in 2009, and the red stripe was removed from the helmet. Player names were removed from the back of the jersey and then reintroduced the following year. The occasional alternate or throwback jersey were made, but the biggest uniform changes took place for the 2013 season. Early this summer, KU and Adidas previewed a series of 5 helmets, but none of which featured the familiar Trajan font KU logo. Four of the five helmets featured KU's Jayhawk logo, while the fifth helmet was designed to be a throw-back helmet honoring the 1961 team. As KU officially unveiled the team's 2013 uniforms in September, the helmet offering was paired back. The black and powder blue helmet were removed, leaving a white and blue helmet with the current Jayhawk logo, and a red helmet with the 1941 Jayhawk. The uniforms were met with mixed reviews.
  4. So way back when I started compiling vintage college mascot logos I said I had a personal project for which I was using them. Today I unveil part of that project. Vinylmation If you've ever been to a Disney park then it is likely you've seen some vinylmations. They are a 3 or 9 inch vinyl figures, shaped like Mickey Mouse, that have a huge array of themes. From classic Disney characters to Star Wars to Indiana Jones and many others in between. There are even sports teams; NFL, NBA, MLB, and NCAA. However the NCAA versions are terribly generic and lack the personality for which many vinlylmations are popular. They also created a "Mascots" series of the main 4 Disney characters in vintage college gear. This is where I was inspired for these concepts. Vinlymations also have a large "custom" following. Artists take either blank or unpopular vinyls and re-work them into amazing pieces of art. I chose to get into this by painting NCAA Mascots onto the vinylmation canvas and I just finished my first series and put them up for sale. Below are images of them but first I'll post some pics of other vinyls as well as the "official NCAA series."
  5. KU has had a couple of new hoops uni's this year and after seeing those new threads, it made me want to do a throwback set that mixed some old lettering and logos. This turned out to be a fun project particularly cleaning up the fierce 1946 Jayhawk which is a favorite of mine. I swapped out the old "KU" from the middle of that old '46 version with the same lettering on the main chest decoration that is from their 1988 era uniforms. In doing that it kind of created a new interlocking-esque KU logo that is also on the white home shorts. My taste is simple and traditional so they're nothing too new or too flashy. KU fans and all basketball fans, feel free to tell me what you think and what you may have done different. Tyson
  6. Similar to my ND throwback, hopefully I can get some C&C on this one. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
