  1. It's the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, Thats right. Last year I made ugly christmas sweater themed wallpapers for various sports teams. I'm opening it again. If you have and requests please let me know. I will also post all the ones from last year so there won't be any duplicates.
  2. This was my entry into HockeyJerseyConcepts' Pairs Competition. I teamed up with one of their former writers, William, and we decided to do a CHL version of an all-star weekend as the top prospects game could be better organized and an all-star weekend could help young players get ready to compete at the NHL level. For the location, We decided on Calgary as it has a rich hockey heritage and it hasn't hosted a major event since I believe the 1988 Olympics. The competition will be a 3-on-3 tournament like the NHL, with 4 teams: The OHL, QMJHL, WHL, and a team of players under 17 years (Nicknamed the 'Young Guns'). For the full presentation click here. The main logo (Designed by William, not me. Mods, please tell me if it isn't properly credited) takes the shape of a maple leaf and a star to show the event is truly international. The font and cowboy hat reflect Calgary's western heritage, and the Calgary Tower and red colors display city pride. My main part of the project was jersey design. Each of the designs is inspired by the respective league's logo. Each jersey has the same basic pattern; a chest stripe, cuffs, and a shoulder yoke. OHL: QMJHL: WHL: Young Guns: C&C is appreciated!
  3. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been posting concepts here and there to a few sites over the past year or so, and while the feedback has generally been good, I'm just looking for more feedback in general. While I don't have a big problem with the current look of the majority of the OHL looks, I just wanted to try and put my spin on it. The majority of concepts are alternates/fauxbacks with the occasional set mixed in as well. I will try to post a new concept from my collection every few days or so and would appreciate any and all feedback. I will be using a modified version of the RBK Edge template from along with the Conrad NHL fonts Pack (with the occasional stock fonts on my Mac). So, without further adieu, here we go. First up we have my first effort that was posted to hockeyjerseyconcepts, my hometown Soo Greyhounds. This was my attempt to address their weak alternate.
  4. It's a bit early, but since some of the 14-15 thread is discussion about the Plymouth Whalers move to Flint for next season and now that some of the logos are starting to be released, I thought I'd get this thread started. Currently, the only logo that has been released that I know of is the Guelph Storm 25th Anniversary logo. Also, for those who like looking at threads from previous seasons, the links are posted below. 2014-15: 2013-14: 2012-13: 2011-12:
  5. Hey Folks, I thought I would do a redesign for the Sudbury Wolves logo, who hasn't wanted to, right? While working on this, the old Texas Avery wolf won me over with it's total disregard of good taste. Poorly executed with the bloody teeth, crossed eyes and terrible typography, it will almost be a shame when it finally does get redone. Full project here:
  6. Hey Folks, Here is another concept I have been thinking about for a while. The Attack's current bear lacks structure and the nose looks too much like the ear. Have a look at the redesign and any comments are appreciated. Existing logo:
  7. So, a few weeks back, news broke that the Plymouth Whalers were being sold and relocated to Flint, Michigan. It was also said that there would be a fan vote for the new name of the team. Every article I read about this had tons of comments with people suggesting the name "Flint Tropics".... Why not that name? It comes from a popular and very quotable Will Ferrell movie which I feel would drive team popularity through the roof with casual OHL and CHL fans not only in Michigan, but North America as a whole. Semi Pro apparel and Halloween costumes have been popular since the movie came out in 2008. I love the identity of this team, even if it is fictional and ridiculous for a team in Michigan to be named anything tropical. I think a modernized version of this identity could translate nicely onto a hockey jersey so I wanted to give it a shot. I had a few early sketches for a very crazy third jersey and I needed a placeholder logo. I don't want to reveal that jersey just yet, but my quick little sketch logo actually looked like it would be perfect. It was a palm tree and doubled as a "T", so I've been playing with its shape and am looking for some C&C on the logo.
  8. I thought that I would start this thread again for the upcoming season since all of the posts in the 2013-14 thread are stuff that will be used or worn during the 2014-15 season. So far the only things that have been released or announced are the Calgary Hitmen throwback jerseys and the Sarnia Sting 20th anniversary logo. Also, for those who like looking at threads from previous seasons, the links are posted below. 2013-14: 2012-13: 2011-12:
  9. I'm not sure about the rules involving posting HJC competition entries before the deadline so if I'm violating any rules please let me know. After a VERY long time using, I've finally moved on to Photoshop. Actually I made the transition a while ago but just recently I've become interested in making hockey concepts again. This is the first time I've put considerable effort into designing a new logo for a team. I've experimented with the idea but until now have never really come up with anything I was happy with. The transition to Photoshop definitely helped. Any criticism is appreciated, thanks!
  10. Overview OHL 2014 Outdoor Classic East Belleville Bulls Kingston Frontenacs Oshawa Generals Ottawa 67's Peterborough Petes Central Barrie Colts Mississauga Ice Dogs St. Catharines Hawks North Bay Battalion Sudbury Wolves Midwest Erie Otters Guelph Storm Kitchener Rangers London Nights Owen Sound Attack West Brantford Flyers Plymouth Whalers Sarnia Sting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Windsor Spitfires So I'm new to the forum, but long time reader! Always been nervous to post my stuff up, but decided I might as well. I've rebranded every team in the OHL, based on what I think is cool! I'm open for feedback and criticism to make these better. I tried to make the jersey's different so that not all of them look the same, so bare with me if some of them seem out of the box. That's not uncommon for Major Junior concepts anyways. I decided to start simple. Windsor Spitfires The Spits have a pretty cool brand to work with, so it's a shame they just took the Capitals brand and just worked off of that. I decided to input a new colour scheme of baby blue and red. The baby blue comes straight from a Spitfire Fighter Plane, which makes enough sense to me. I changed their primary logo from a cartoonish Spitfire and Capital-esque font to a simplified version of a commemoration logo introduced in 2007. This logo incorporates the plane trail found in a logo they used for 20 years. On the jersey I decided to take the 3 wings from the logo and apply them to the sleeve and waist stripes. The 3 red stripes are a common element on both jerseys and the logo. If anybody is interested in following the thread let me know what team you would like to see me post next!
  11. I know the season doesn't start until September, but now that all of the schedules for all 3 leagues have been released there is at least something to look forward to! Schedules: OHL: WHL: QMJHL:
  12. Now that the finals are well underway (and have been for a couple of days now), I thought that I would get this thread started for talk of anything related to the finals of any of the 3 leagues and the memorial cup. So far, Halifax is up on Baie-Comeau 2-0 with Game 3 on Tuesday, London and Barrie are tied 1-1 with Game 3 in Barrie tonight, and Portland and Edmonton is also tied at 1-1 with Game 3 Tuesday. Of course, the only team with a spot in the Memorial Cup is Saskatoon as the hosts (swept in the 1st round by Medicine Hat). The earliest another team can clinch a spot in the tournament is Halifax on Wednesday if they are able to win the next 2 games in Baie-Comeau.
  13. lol at the last part. I wonder if they brought Count Bettman in to waggle his head and say "it's not necessarily impossible that if you don't not fail to not sell out, this isn't going to work." Anyway, another GTA team bites the dust. This one was ten minutes down the street from Mississauga. They were on the same street! I think this is a good move on two levels, as 1) it's ultimately a better business plan for the OHL to cover Ontario population centers that aren't served by the NHL and AHL, and 2) THIS IS A TERRIBLE LOGO GUYS. I mean it's not the Sudbury Wolves, nothing is, but it needed to be redrawn pretty badly. I wonder if this means the return of the North Bay Centennials. Good name.
