  1. So the MLB and MiLB Professional Baseball Agreement (PBA) is set to expire after the 2020 season. This is the agreement that outlines the single affiliation model and states the 160 MiLB clubs from AAA to Advanced Rookie will have an MLB affiliate. MiLB hopes to have a new agreement in place by the end of the winter meetings, as to not have it hanging over their head the entire season (link). As analytics continue to become more and more prevalent in all aspects of the games, MLB appears to be positioning for a more streamlined and efficient minor league system that allows them to better train, develop, and evaluate prospects. Commissioner Manfred has even publicly said that MLB would like to see fewer affiliates and better facilities (link). It seems from current stadium issues (see Beloit), that MiLB has already succumbed to MLB demands to increase stadium facility requirements. Apparently, last time this occurred was in 1992 and subsequently MiLB was met with multiple teams relocating and other restructuring. Regardless, if there are stricter facility rules, we could see some current MiLB stadiums deemed ineligible and could thus force teams to seek new stadiums or relocate. Has anyone heard any rumors as to developments of the PBA for 2020? What stadiums do you think would be most at risk? And if MLB gets their way, even though MiLB is opposed to reducing the 160 required affiliation number, what do you think are some likely scenarios that MLB and MiLB agree to restructuring? How would this affect the current league set up in the minors?
  2. Hey guys, I'm only a newbie to this site, and I've been inspired by some of the great concept series such as Raysox's Yakball and In_a_rush's URL, to create my own fictional sport. It's called Bucketball. Well, it's not entirely new I guess, my brother and I Invented a form of the sport wayback. But nevertheless, I'd like to showcase it to you americans. A brief outline of some rules of this fine game- (Template is an adapted form of Darth Brook's basketball court psd. Cheers Darth) Aim- The aim of the game is to score as many buckets as possible - 4 x 10 minute quarters - Middle bucket is worth 4, outer ones 2. A shot outside the pin that goes in is a bonus point. - 5 players on court allowed atone time. These are ... 1 x Lynch ( Kind of a goaltender. Called this due to the pin shape in which he's allowed to roam in. 2 x Rogues (Defenders. Called this due to there rough, no frills type playing style.) 2 x Questors ( Attackers. Shoot at all the buckets.) - Only 3 substitutions allowed per quarter - Players must bounce the ball along the ground at least once when passing the ball. - Ball must be passed at least three times before a shot is allowed to be taken. - 2 minute powerplay If a player gives away an Orange or Yellow Card. - A player can only take a maximum 3 paces without passing. - Bucketball is a minimal contact sport. If a player with the ball is indefinitely being pushed around free passes are given. At the moment this will only be an 8 team league, with possible expansion across the world later. Here's a bit of a league map for ya. The first team, from the sporting capital of the world, will be... Melbourne! Can't wait to share this with you guys.
  3. I've been designing logos and junk for a while now and I wanted to try my hand at something more design related. I chose to do something close to home and redesign the Philippine Basketball Association jerseys. I always found our league to be a bit lacking in this regard so I gave it a shot. I've also been looking for an audience to check this out for a while now 'cause I can't really gauge how decent it looks and what I could improve on. A FEW TWEAKS I barely changed anything on these jerseys. No major changes of note. Alaska Aces: Barangay Ginebra San Miguel: (I added a bit of a tribute/throwback jersey as the alternate) Kia Sorento: SAME CONCEPT REDESIGN These teams have decent concepts in my opinion so I tried not to stray too far from them. Meralco Bolts: Talk N' Text Tropang Texters: COMPLETE REDEISGN I decided that these teams needed a fresh new look complete with a logo wordmark change and color scheme. Barako Bull Energy: San Miguel Beermen: NLEX Road Warriors: Purefoods Star Hotshots: Global Port Batang Pier: Don't hold any punches. Comment away!
