  1. Now that I've finished my NFL series, I thought I'd take on something new: NCAA Division 1 football. Vastly bigger (and way more fun) than the NFL. I'll be working my way through the Power 5 conferences, with some Group of Five/Independents thrown in the mix as I get to them. Hoping to do 2-3 per week. In no particular order: ACC Boston College | Clemson v2.0| Duke | Florida State | Georgia Tech | Louisville | Miami | North Carolina | NC State | Pittsburgh | Syracuse | Virginia | Virginia Tech | Wake Forest Big Ten Illinois | Indiana | Iowa | Maryland v2.0 | Michigan | Michigan State v2.0| Minnesota | Nebraska | Northwestern | Ohio State | Penn State | Purdue | Rutgers | Wisconsin Big 12 Baylor | Iowa State | Kansas | Kansas State | Oklahoma | Oklahoma State | TCU | Texas | Texas Tech | West Virginia Pac-12 Arizona | Arizona State | California | Colorado | Oregon | Oregon State | Stanford | UCLA | USC | Utah | Washington | Washington State SEC Alabama | Arkansas | Auburn | Florida | Georgia | Kentucky | LSU | Ole Miss | Mississippi State | Missouri | South Carolina | Tennessee | Texas A&M | Vanderbilt Group of Five/Independents UCF | Notre Dame Comments/feedback welcome!
  2. Professional sports, especially the NFL, get a lot of love and discussion when it comes to uniform aesthetics so I wanted to create a topic specifically for college football uniforms and history. Some of my favorites are: DIII: Almost the entire MIAC because they mostly have old, private, religious schools that have traditional aesthetics. If I had to narrow down my three favorite, it would be the Concordia Cobbers, St. John's Johnnies and St. Thomas Tommies DII: Minnesota State. They've come a long ways since Adam Thielen suited up for the Mavs FCS: North Dakota State and Montana FBS: There are a lot of classics but so I'm going to narrow it down to LSU because watching Joe Burrow on the draft coverage is what inspired me to make this anyways. I love the color balance, the shoulder stripes and the uniqueness of white at home
  3. So for the first time in a freakin eternity, Notre Dame and Wisconsin will be facing off on the gridiron next season. For whatever reason, instead of holding either game on campus, the 2020 game will be at Lambeau....as part of ND's Shamrock Series, meaning the Irish are the "home" team. I figure nothing like this will happen uniwise, but I figured I'd take a College to Pro-style approach, so the Irish are based on the 40s Packers, as a nod to alum Curly Lambeau, while the Badgers took cues from the Lombardi Pack, though given that they don't typically utilize a third color, I used a light gold similar to the shade used in UW's academic mark...which makes the whole thing look like a 49ers reject. I might have been better off going with a white/red version of the Powerball jersey, tbh. The 2021 game, meanwhile, will be at Soldier Field...where the Badgers will be the home team. Given that a lot of people hated the navy helmets worn in the most recent Yankee Stadium game, I figured sticking with gold domes but using the baseball ND would work nicely. For the hell of it, the jersey and socks are mint green. Wisconsin's set is based on the big V and stripes from the late 20s Bears, though as I'm not sure the NCAA would've allowed for a smaller upper-chest number, the striping is in a darker cardinal, making this something more akin to the late 90s Patriots. I'm not super confident in my ability to make a helmet look like its leather counterpart, so I extended the tonal look to the helmet, using the darker cardinal as the shell color, with a little anachronism with the early 60s front and back W's. You may scream now.
  4. Welcome to the American College Football Association. The ACFA was formed in 1934 and is a huge rival to the NCAA. The league consists of 93 schools and eight conferences, the Southern 12, the California Conference, the Original 9, the Midwest Athletic Association, the Southwest Conference, the Plains Conference, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Central Athletic Conference. There is a 16-team playoff. Unlike the NCAA, the ACFA allows schools to pay their players without a penalty. Here is the Southern 12 Conference. West Mississippi Tech (Flowood) Mississippi A&M (Greenville) Birmingham State Alabama-Gulf Shores New Orleans State Mississippi State- Biloxi East Georgia Central (Macon) Western Florida (St. Petersburg) Coastal Carolina Columbus College (Columbus, Ga) Jacksonville Southern Tennessee State- Chattanooga Here is the first team, Mississippi Tech Ducks Mississippi Tech was founded in 1894 in Flowood, Ms. The Ducks football team played their first game on August 29, 1903 against New Orleans State. Mississippi Tech has always been good but not superb. You always see them in the polls but they can never bring home a championship. Mississippi A&M was founded in 1830 in Greenville, Ms. The Gators have 5 championships but have struggled recently. After hiring new head coach, Ronnie Blue, MAM looks to get back to their winning ways. Birmingham State was founded in 1870. The Magicians have a huge rivalry with Mississippi Tech. BSU leads the series 50-22. The 2000s have been a terrific decade for Birmingham State, making the playoffs every year except 2010. Alabama-Gulf Shores is the laughing stock of the conference. The Sharks have been at the bottom nearly every year and have gone through 8 coaches in the last 10 years. However, in 2003, they nearly made the playoffs but got their hearts broken by rival Mississippi State-Biloxi in the last regular season game. The New Orleans State Raiders are a powerhouse. Every year you see them in the playoffs. Coached by the legend Willie Brown, the Raiders have gone 62-2 in the last 4 years and have 21 championships. Mississippi State-Biloxi Hurricanes have been a long-time competitor to NOLA State, but have never been able to reach NOSU's legacy. Georgia Central was founded in 1798 in Macon. As another one of Birmingham State's rivals, the Chiefs always play them tough and physical. Central was a dynasty in the 1970s, winning 6 championships. Nowadays, they have only reached the playoffs once, in 2013. Western Florida is mediocre to sub-par every year. The Sun Devils annually get crushed by in-state rivals Jacksonville Southern and Florida State. Columbus College was founded in 1821. In 1939, the Hornets started the first minority quarterback in ACFA history, Jordan Robinson. Not to be confused with Jackson State, the Jacksonville Southern Bengals wear their sky blue and navy with pride. They are usually a playoff contender every year. The Tennessee State-Chattanooga Raccoons usually hang with AGSU at the bottom of the conference.
  5. This idea has been brewing in my head for a while now. My inspiration for this project is some concepts that @wyopokes2 did back in the day. He used an interactive uniform picker that I thought was a great idea. So I tried my hand at making a website and putting my concepts on there so that people can mix and match uniforms as they please. I would appreciate any C&C for the uniforms and also the website as I am not savvy at all with creating a website. Thank you. 6. What if the CFP was 64 teams? Here is my concept of what the bracket would have looked like this year. I used CBS 128 rankings at the end of the season for seeding.
