  1. So this weekend had the Kings and Spurs wining titles in Silver and Black. I'm curious as to what other years this happened. I'm sure its happened with RWB, so in that case how about the primary color being the same.
  2. I'm sure this has been done before. Mods, please merge this with another thread if necessary. I'll start off with the NFL. First I'll give y'all a blank template to copy/paste; then I'll give my own viewpoints. AFC: AFC East: Boston/New England Patriots New York Titans/Jets Miami Dolphins Buffalo Bills AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals Cleveland Browns Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Pirates/Steagles/Card-Pitt/Pittsburgh Steelers AFC South: Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Houston Texans AFC West: Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers Denver Broncos NFC: NFC East: Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Boston Braves/Boston Redskins/Washington Redskins Steagles/Philadelphia Eagles (not counting Frankford Yellow Jackets) NFC North: Decatur Staleys/Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers Portsmouth Spartans/Detroit Lions Minnesota Vikings NFC South: Atlanta Falcons New Orleans Saints Carolina Panthers Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFC West: Cleveland/Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams San Francisco 49ers Seattle Seahawks Racine Normals/Racine Street Cardinals/Chicago Cardinals/Card-Pitt/St. Louis Cardinals/Phoenix Cardinals/Arizona Cardinals And...go!
  3. What's up with metallic colors being dull the past few years, especially in football? Also, what's up with regular colors (purple, black, yellow, blue) being given matte finishes in football helmets? Are the two trends really one and the same? Personally I don't much care for either.
  4. Mods: Feel free to place this in the appropriate forum if this isn't it. I used to love Baseball Mogul, but it bothered me that all the teams and players looked the same. Beginning with Baseball Mogul 14 (paradoxically, the 2013 version of the game), players can design team uniforms in a limited fashion. Choices are limited to hat color, shirt color, pants color, and pinstripe color (I believe pinstripes can be turned on and off as well). That opens up another world in terms of the visual aspect of the game (although I wish they'd include sock color for all uniforms, and shirt and pants stripes for non-pinstriped ones). I'm wondering if I should get it now - it's only $25. I loved the career play and the wide variety of pitches available on the old games, plus of course the historical aspect of it, and I'm sure those have only gotten better in the intervening years. So, for those who have BBMogul 14 and later...do the uniform design options expand any in the later games? Do 15 and 16 have any huge updates that make them worth the extra money? How much do the custom unis improve the visual aspect? Do any of them have custom logos or stadium backdrops enabled? Any input is much appreciated.
  5. Looking at the new Diamondbacks uniforms, I couldn't help noticing that the light teal they use in their (non-throwback) alternates looks really cool, and would go great as a secondary color with their dark red should they eventually choose to go in that direction. Overall, though, the set looks awful---with striping that stops abruptly, and tacky-looking "sublimation" (actually mostly just bad gradients IMO). That got me thinking---what were other awful looks that had one super cool feature? Like, the Bengals' current unis look awful but their helmet's a classic. So, two-ish questions: 1. Do you agree with me about the Diamondbacks looking good in red, black, and teal? 1A. Would they look better demoting the black to tertiary and promoting the teal to primary? AND 2. What are some other examples of terrible sets with awesome (not redeeming, but still awesome) features? Mods, feel free to move this if there's already an appropriate thread for these musings.
  6. The new Milwaukee Bucks owners Wes Edens and Marc Lasry had a meet-and-greet with fans at a Milwaukee sports bar on Thursday night to watch the Thunder, Spurs game and also gave fans the opportunity to ask questions to the new owners. On Friday I was listening to the Bill Michaels Show (Wisconsin state-wide sports radio show) and he had a caller who went to the meet-and-greet. The caller asked one of the new owners if he like the current Bucks colors and if he would ever change them. The new owner said he didn't like the current colors (green, red) and is thinking about changing them (didn't say what colors they would switch to or say anything about a logo change). The new owner said the the process to change colors would take about a year. Bill asked his listeners what colors they would change them to. Some said go back to purple, some said hunters green with blaze orange, some said camo colors (green, brown), and someone said tan/gold and black (similar to the Saints). I know this isn't official or even reported from a "reliable" source but I thought was interesting. Give your idea for their colors if you think you got a better idea. If you want to listen to the caller on the show here's a link of the podcast (start at 21:50): http://media.billmichaelssports.com/a/92599284/05-30-14-friday-hour-3.htm More on the meet-and-greet: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/bucks/new-milwaukee-bucks-owners-thank-fans-at-meet-and-greet-b99280394z1-261195221.html Update(5/30/2014): From Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/261291881.html) Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry said Friday in a radio interview that he and co-owner Wesley Edens are strongly considering a change in the team's traditional jersey colors of red and green. Lasry did not say what a new color scheme would be but said, "We're definitely looking at doing that (making a change). It does need a little bit of help." Lasry also said in the 1250 WSSP interview that he is upset there is not more Bucks gear available around the city. "The thing that pisses me off is there's no gear," he said. "I wanted to get stuff for friends back home (in New York). I went yesterday to the Bradley Center to get gear. "There are a lot of things we need to do. You're going to see a whole bunch of changes." Update (3/30/2015): WED 4/1/2015 Halftime vs Chicago Bulls Looks like Wed will answer questions regarding Bucks' color speculation. 8. Hey folks....just as an exercise in creativity, thought I would whip up a batch of wallpapers that literally anyone can use for anything - your phone, pc, tablet, etc. Without giving away HOW I get them to look like they do...I am willing to design custom ones in my free time (which might not be every day, but I can check when I have the time). If you are looking for the "Series 2" designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104374-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-2-designs/ If you are looking for the "Series 3" designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104372-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-3-designs/ If you are looking for the "Series 4" designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104373-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-4-designs/ The series of 3 you will see below are the progression of how I get to the final product, any of which are suitable for use. I will use the Pittsburgh Steelers as an example.... If you are interested, drop a line on this post. They can be made with the Primary, Secondary, Tertiary colors of a given team. In the case of a team like the NY Jets which only has 2, I would use BLACK as the third color. Yes, they look quite large at 3200x3200. But I designed them to be that way on purpose and they look best when centered. The nice side effect is that on a PC monitor, the "shrink to fit" option results in actual elongated diamonds, which are very classic, in terms of argyle design in general. I can also work with your own colors if you have the RGB values and a specific logo you want used.
  9. Well, apparently my original designs were enough to branch off into a separate topic for my series 3 designs. If you are looking for the original topic, it's here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104014-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything/ And here is the series 2 topic: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104374-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-2-designs/ And here is the series 4 topic: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104373-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-4-designs/ Below are a few "not-so-random" color designs for the Series 3 pattern: Yes, that's right....you might recognize them as my "generic" patterns for America, Breast Cancer Awareness, and Military Camo.
  10. For those looking for the original series, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104014-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything/ Series 3 designs here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104372-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-3-designs/ Series 4 designs here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104373-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-4-designs/ For my first design in series 2, I found a rather unusual logo right here on CCSL....the texas Wild of World Team Tennis. I thought it fit the motif perfectly:
  11. If you are looking for the original topic with the series 1 designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104014-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything/ If you are looking for the topic with the series 2 designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104374-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-2-designs/ If you are looking for the topic with the series 3 designs, look here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/104372-argyle-wallpapers-suitable-for-anything-series-3-designs/ Decided I would start out a little "crazy" with my first post in this series...so I went with a TV show (don't worry, I'm gonna post sports ones). Many of you will recognize it in America - starring Sheldon, Amy, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Bernadette, and Raj....yes, the Big Bang Theory (or BBT, for short):
  12. What teams do you think have had too many color changes throughout their histories? Houston Astros- They stayed consistent until navy and gold went off into brick and sand. Atlanta Hawks- They've used every color it seems like and can't figure out what is an iconic combo. For me, it's yellow/red. Cleveland Cavs- Sort of like the Hawks, I think their current combo is beautiful but they went through too many colors to get here. Vancouver Canucks- The green and blue is the signature, but they did flip their combo in a weird way for almost 20 years. The NFL has been the most consistent IMO of keeping a general team-by-team color combo that is signature for every team. What are some of your favorite/least favorite color changes, and what current teams would you like to see maybe change colors? P.S. Miami Marlins made a big mistake ditching their teal.
  13. I was thinking about rare color combinations for sports teams today and I think I found the rarest without including pink or purple: orange and yellow. The only team I can think of that even *INCLUDES* orange and yellow in their colors is the Oklahoma City Thunder, but their primary color is blue and orange and yellow are only used for trim on the uniforms, although orange is a big part of their logo. Has the Thunder ever worn orange or yellow alternate jerseys? After the Thunder your choices are extremely slim if not nothing, at least in the U.S. You have the original Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniforms, and even though yellow would fit nicely into that uni set, it wasn't one of their colors (their actual colors being orange and red). Then you have the Vancouver Canucks with their late 70's / early 80's jerseys with the infamous giant V neck design. Even though in some pictures it looks orange, and on the Canucks' Wikipedia page it is referred to as "red-orange", the "red-orange" color was actually closer to red and the others were yellow and black. This is sooooo flippin' close to being a team with orange and yellow in their uniforms but the "red-orange" color is just too red! Oh well. In my research I discovered that FC Barcelona, a European soccer team out of Spain, has worn orange and yellow gradient uniforms. (Oddly enough their home colors are red and blue but their usual away unis are mono orange and their usual alternate unis are mono yellow! I wonder what the reasoning behind this is...) I'm surprised some pro or college team in Florida never went for orange and yellow because it is a very citrusy combination and Florida is famous for it's oranges. Now it's your turn. I am open to hearing about ANY pro team (big 4, minor league, foreign) or any U.S. or Canadian college team (Division 1, 2, or 3) that currently has orange and yellow as their colors or part of their colors, or once did. No high schools please. GO!
  14. Trying to figure out a cool modern and clean logo for a new competitive sports organization I am opening up. Heres a first concept of what I made. Any suggestions or ideas? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=309674612495240&l=740a034be7
