  1. A thread for my take on the uniforms of the Major League Baseball, plus sets for Nos Amours and the Knights of the Mint City. The template I use is a modifed version of that by rsaline and the original can be found here. Anaheim Angels Arizona Diamondbacks Atlanta Hammers Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox Charlotte Knights Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds Cleveland Guardians Colorado Rockies Detroit Tigers Houston Astros Kansas City Royals Los Angeles Dodgers Miami Marlins Milwaukee Brewers Minnesota Twins Montreal Expos New York Mets New York Yankees Oakland Athletics Philadelphia Phillies Pittsburgh Pirates San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Seattle Mariners St. Louis Cardinals Tampa Bay Rays Texas Rangers Toronto Blue Jays Washington Nationals
  2. Last week the Astros' AAA affiliate unveiled their new identity, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Although the new branding was met with mix reactions, a few things about it appealed to me: the addition of teal to the Astros' navy and orange colorway, nebula-like sleeve and side gradients (a clear nod to the Astros' tequila sunrise uniforms), and going all-in on space imagery, which includes a rocket ship logo and starfield within the scripts and numbers. Despite boasting a space-themed identity themselves, I've long felt the Astros' current look is too traditional and, dare I say it, bland. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to redesign the Astros using the Space Cowboys identity as inspiration. To start, I made the cap logo a modified version of the Astros' 1975 prototype logo: Up next are the uniforms. ASTROS x SPACE COWBOYS HOME: ASTROS x SPACE COWBOYS ROAD: ASTROS x SPACE COWBOYS ALT 1: ASTROS x SPACE COWBOYS ALT 2: For the unis, I tried to adhere closely to Sugar Land's uniforms while adding an orange secondary alt. I used the 1970s-80s "Astros" wordmark and created a matching "Houston" one for the road jersey. I also applied the gradient design to the socks. C&C appreciated!
  3. Recently, while working on a different, abandoned idea, I developed the framework for a logo that I felt had some legs as an Astros concept. I've never really been a huge fan of the Astros logos in the past, and figured this had a little bit more character than the current H-Star. The explanation here will be very straightforward. The basic idea was to combine the letter A and a star into the same shape. The "gut" of the star, where the A is formed also forms the pentagon shape that represents home plate, an underused, but certainly recognizable feature of baseball. Like I said, pretty simple and straightforward. (I do realize there are some that find a logo with the mascot initial instead of the location initial sacrilege, but I really ain't one of them, so tough luck there.) Lemme know what you guys think!
