  4. So like many others I started working on creating my own personal logo. Back in the day I used to have a cartoon design of myself I used & recently I've been using a cartoon pencil I drew up which can be found anywhere my work is found. I wanted to create a more professional looking mark that would also represent me, who I am, where I'm from & what I do. Here's what I've come up with. The colors and star represent the flag where I'm from, my initials are styled in the form of a "BRANDING" iron which is a tool found & used throughout Texas. The overall design represents the state seal found on the badge of my primary profession. All these elements together represent me. Still working out details, some friends have suggested I go with 1 or 2 colors to keep it simple and that's why you see the different options also can't decide on on a name that's why you see options on that as well. Going simple I lose some of the meaning behind my design but it gives it a cleaner look & using only RS branding sounds really good but I'm left with a semi empty roundel & not sure what to add there other than the line I have or stars. So feel free to voice your opinions & suggestions.
  5. Hey everyone, I haven't done a concept on the boards for a while. Took some time off of designing to move to Phoenix, Arizona. But I wanted to do an update to some of the NBA's primary logos. This week, I'm working on the Memphis Grizzlies logo. When I look across the NBA, I noticed that a lot of teams are using red and blue. I wanted to stray away from that in this concept because when I think of an identity, I think of something going again the status quo. Especially with multi-million dollar franchises, you'd think they want to make their mark in the league. For the Memphis Grizzlies, I wanted to make an intimidating grizzly bear seem a little more in this world. A blue bear with yellow eyes seems alien. So I tried to tackle this by looking at the team's history and revisiting the past with their colors back when they were the Vancouver Grizzlies. Without further ado... Let me know what you think. I'm sure there is a lot of room for growth within this concept. I would appreciate all criticism and comments. Thanks for looking!
  6. Hey everybody, I've spent the past few weeks filming a Skillshare class, and I think it would be of some interest to people on the forums. The class consists of a few sets of short video tutorials explaining how to make a custom postcard illustration out of your own photograph. I demonstrate a few different techniques I use to illustrate, and these can be applied to any design really, not just the postcards. A lot of the principles are similar to what you might find in a sports logo, so if you're looking to sharpen up your skills and make something cool in the process, go ahead and sign up! It's free for a 14-day trial. So please feel free to join and share with your friends if they're interested. I'd love some feedback as well. Here's the link: And here are some examples of the postcards you'd be making:
