  1. As I've made clear for some time, I'm a big fan of football and I'm currently living in Japan. To my surprise, I found that there is a big following of American football here and there are LOTS of colleges and universities that play football here. There is even a pro league and a championship game that pits the college champion vs the pro champion. It's call the Rice Bowl. I thought I would take the opportunity to share some of the cool logos and uniforms of all the teams from Japan. I'm going to start out going league by league and providing the top tier or division 1 teams first, then work my way down to any other teams that may be interesting to share. I hope you guys enjoy it and maybe it might open you up to learning more about American football here in Japan.
  2. I might have discussed this before, but years ago I was really intrigued by the Asia Pacific Football League. It was a proposed professional American football league that would have teams in China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Hawaii. The league had the backing of investors in Hong Kong and former Dallas Cowboys player Preston Person as a "consultant". The league was to launch in 1999, the pushed back to 2000. After that.... well nothing. All there is are a few logos and a dead website that can be found on Wayback Machine. I've tried to find news articles from that time, but no luck, even though I do remember at least one article. Regardless, enjoy the logos that I found from their website. And if your curious the teams were: Sharks, Dragons, Express, Pandas, Stallions, Dolphins, Warriors, Typhoon, Fighting Cocks, and Elephants. 3. Hello all! I had some ideas brewing in my head and decided to get them out. Here's my ideas for World Cup kits for Japan and Korea. Japan - The primary kit is a more purplish blue with silver and pinkish red accents*, and the front number is encased on a subliminated sun. The secondary kit is a white-to-black gradient with the number inside the red sun from the flag. I went with just the crest on both kits instead of the usual flag-and-crest combo the team normally uses, because I thought it looked a little less cluttered. Korea - I wanted to keep the "Red Devils" primarily red, but draw some inspiration from the flag also, hence the yin-yang inspired design. The secondary kit draws inspiration from the flag also in the way the colors are used; accented with blue and red with a curvy mini-sash, I made the numbers black to use all the colors of the flag. The third kit is a black set with red and blue accents that I felt made for a good alternative for Korea. Let me know what you think! *EDIT: The pinkish Red looks more reddish on mobile than on desktop for some reason
  4. Hey guys! I've been working on rebranding a few teams in the Japanese top-flight, the J-League, and i'd love to share them with you! The first one I completed was for the Urawa Red Diamonds, or just Urawa Reds. They're Japan's most popular team and they, like mostly all the other teams, haven't updated their logo in ages. For the most commercialized team, I thought a rebranding to something more accessible would be in order. The first version is a scripted variant, and the second is the standard english. Let me know what you think of this one! My main trade is kit/uniform design, so I may post a few along with the logos if I have time, but the focus is the logos! Wouldn't change much about their uniform styles either. thanks!
  5. Darren Rovell posted this picture on Twitter. These are pretty crazy looking. At first I thought they were made to look like denim, but they actually are made of denim. http://www.gethiroshima.com/features/art-entertainment/hiroshima-carp-go-denim-in-august/
