  1. I've done many "Vintage Style College Mascots" and as the NFL season gets started I was thinking of what their logos/mascots might look like if they had been created in the style of Arthur Evans. I don't plan on directly using any mascot/logo looks (college or NFL) that are already out there (example: using Pistol Pete for the Dallas Cowboys). However, I may take inspiration from bits or pieces of them. Over the next few weeks/months I'll be adding my newest iterations, please let me know what you think with your comments and/or likes. First up: Minnesota Vikings
  2. Hi everyone, For my latest project, I wanted to do address the overabundance of blue & red teams across Major League Baseball. For inspiration, I figured I'd look at the colors of other local teams to create some regional visual unity, similar to the way that all Pittsburgh teams use black and gold. Note that some teams will be using throwback colors of local teams, such as the first team below. We start today with the Texas Rangers in the San Antonio Spurs' fiesta colors. Thanks to @Victormrey for the suggestion! RANGERS HOME RANGERS ROAD RANGERS HOME ALT 1 RANGERS HOME ALT 2 RANGERS HOME ALT 3 RANGERS ROAD ALT C&C appreciated! Another team will be up soon.
  3. I finally decided to post my Minnesota Vikings concept that I made in January. The concept is based on the idea that there is a home/away set, color rush, and a throwback alternate. I based the main set on the vikings current uniforms while also implementing the concept drawings by Hubenthal. I used the current Vikings font but without the serifs, added a white facemask, and tweaked the horn logo slightly. For the color rush uniform I decided to base it on the all white uniforms the vikings wore from 1969-1995 with the UCLA stripes. I based the alternate/throwback on the 1965 uniform set, where the numbers are outlined and the stocks dont have stripes.
  4. I never realized the Jets did the Namath throwback using green helmets twice - the first time was in 1993 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Bowl III, where they didn’t even bother to add the helmet stripes, just peeled the logo off and replaced it with the 60s version (according to the Gridiron Database this was the first use of a throwback uniform btw): Then for the 1994 NFL 75th season throwbacks, the Jets switched the Jersey to green and added the helmet stripes:
  5. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Revision: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic. Revision: I put the penguin in a complete keystone and I like it, but I still think the half keystone looks better. Lightning: Honestly something's missing from this one, but everything I add makes it look worse so I decided to ask you all what you think. the L works pretty good but it seems empty. Again, these aren't really meant to replace the logo front of the jersey, most are meant to be shoulder patches, but this one feels empty. Revision: Wordmark: I thought trying to make it a wordmark would work a little bit better, and it does in some aspects, but it feels really empty still. Canadiens: I took the Fleur from the Montreal flag and tried to turn it in to an "M"which I think works pretty well, but I do think it needs some more polishing. I don't really like this better than their current logo but I think something like it could work as a shoulder patch 1: 2: Stars: I took their old star logo and updated the colors and added a recolored Texas flag. Then I removed the wordmark and had the star go through the middle of a D in the same style as the other letters 1: 2: After a bit of a hiatus, I am back. I took the Spirit of Detroit and added wings to it. I am not sure if I want to add something in his hands but I am pretty proud of this logo My ham-fisted attempt to make the Wings one more Art Deco: I have had this Preds logo in my back pocket for a little while now, its super simple and is kind of a combination of their shoulder patch and chest logo. I plan on doing another one for the Preds as well but I thought I'd post this one just to get an idea of what you guys think Bruins: I changed the black to brown and put a modern style bear logo in the middle of the spokes, I think it could work as an alt shoulder patch. Panthers: In my honest opinion, the Panthers shoulder logo is absolutely perfect, so I can’t do better than that. I’m working on a retro nose art one but if I can’t find any reference images this will be what I work off of
  6. Hey guys, got some NFL concepts I have been working on. I used my simplified variation of the GUD template. Let me know what you think and what I should improve on.
  7. The Jets USA Today blog had an offer for fans to design their ideas for what the Jets will/should do when they get new uniforms next season. This was my entry. The new Primary logo brings back a modified version of the 80s futuristic jet logo but places it in the oval that's been part of the Jets identity from jumpstreet. Double Green was a happy accident when I was trying to incorporate the Titans gold I selected the wrong oval from a previous layer and it showed a Kelly outline instead of Gold. The decision to use a Kelly Outline with Hunter interior rather than the reverse came from the Color Rush jerseys as a lighter outline seemed to give a sort of shine to me. The main inspiration from the color choices in the striping came from the Jets color rush which is one of the best in the league in my opinion. While the green pants are shown with the home greens, that would be a rarity to with but the road whites could pair with the whites or greens.

    NY Jets

im hoping when the Jets roll out new unis next year, there wont be any drastic changes. i think they have a great foundation and need to take the same approach as the Lions and Vikings; just put a new spin on the classic. i'd love to see them adopt a new green that isn't Kelly Green. it's a little too expected, so my choice is "Bright Emerald" which is a name i totally just made up, but at least its unique in the NFL. i think the solve for some of these shoulder stripe issues they have now is to move it all down the sleeve. it's important that the contrast areas are bold and impactful, so i would expand that stripe element outside the shoulder seams just a little (think of the Browns or Seahawks stripe technique). finally, have to make the NY-oval the primary logo. large, bold shapes fit this design much better than the overly detailed logo they have now. i always like to think of the alternates when making new uniform decisions too. considering the leagues 1 helmet rule, any alternate would have to work with a white shell. i didn't want to add a black or gray jersey or anything too out of character here, so my alternate option is a throwback. the 1963 uniform gives people something they haven't seen in a long time and provides a darker green jersey option that fans would be more accustomed to.
  9. Been a while since the last concept I posted...and it seems like forever since I posted an NFL concept that wasn't College to Pro. That said, here we go with the Niners Not much of a departure here...the home's stripes are gold, and gold trim has been added to the lettering on both jerseys, not to mention the now-red facemask. The grid plaid is a Sourdough Sam shoutout, which I figured would look best with white pants. Now here go the Jets. Went back to kelly green as the main color, with forest green as trim only. Also modified the oval into a football shape like they had it in the 60s...and then introduced a secondary jet, which I incorporated into the helmet, shoulder and pants stripes. Lastly, a piecemeal fauxback using the jet as the helmet logo, and a jersey modeled after the Staten Island Stapletons...the body from their final season in the NFL and the sleeves from their first three seasons. Speak now or fade into Bolivian
  10. I've been trying to branch out into more sports than just hockey, such as soccer, and now football. Here is my first ever football uniform, made for the New York Jets. I tried to combine their past green with their current darker green to make a nice blend of past and present. Thoughts?
  11. I personally think that some of the extinct hockey teams looked the best. The Whalers, Nordiques, Rockies, Jets, etc. had some of my favorite hockey designs ever, and instead now we get to feast our eyes on the Hurricanes and Avalanche. Sad. So, This is basically my attempt to rewrite history, if the new franchises continued the look of their formers, Starting out with the Whaler-Hurricanes. The whalers had one of the best logos in all of sports history, and awesome uniforms and color scheme to boot, which helps to make the Hurricanes design more unique. C&C appreciated, and although I have some more on tap, let me know what you'd like to see next! Thanks!
  12. So this is more of a curiosity question that I...thought would go here, but I'm not entirely sure. Feel free to move if it belongs somewhere else. In case you haven't already seen it, WSJ posted a video online a few years back detailing the process for changing MetLife Stadium from Giants to Jets. It's a fairly time consuming ordeal, taking roughly two full work days. In other words, not a process that can be completed overnight. So my question is...if in some alternate reality the Giants and Jets both hosted a playoff game on the same weekend, what do you think they would do in regards to stadium decor? Would they find some way to hurriedly change end zone panels inbetween the game, or would they just go with some kind of neutral color "New York" wordmark? I do know both teams hosted wild card games in the playoffs after the 1985 season, but I'm not having any luck finding pictures of what they did then...
