  1. I've never posted a hockey concept before. I just recently got a template together, so I thought I'd try it out. I had a lot of fun making it. Thoughts?
  2. In my desert states Winter Classic concept post, another user here mentioned doing a Florida one. I had remembered seeing this behance gallery for one at Disney world but in my opinion the jerseys in it seemed more appropriate for a Stadium Series instead of a Winter Classic, so I decided to do my own. Yes, I am aware it gets hot in Florida, even in the winter, but like I said in my desert Winter Classic concept, if the NHL could put an outdoor game in Vegas in the 90s, they can do it better now. First the host team: I based the Lightning jersey on the EHL’s Jacksonville/Florida Rockets jersey from 1967/68. Just like the Preds based their Winter Classic jersey this year on the Dixie Flyers jersey from the same era. If you look close, the numbers on their backs were blue for some reason which made them disappear into their stripe a bit. I’ve changed that on my concept, but I think they were able to get away with it because they centered their numbers in the stripe since they didn’t have names on the back. The Rockets also had 8 stars on the front of their jersey, so I half seriously replaced them with lightning bolts in my concept, but they don’t look great to say the least, so I will probably leave them out. I think the stripes need adjusting before I finalize this render with textures and stuff but overall I’m pretty happy with the direction this one is going. And now the visitors: Keeping with the theme, I based the Panthers jersey on the concept for the WHA’s charter member Miami Screaming Eagles, who never took the ice in Miami but were immediately moved to Philly because they couldn’t find an adequate stadium. The Screaming Eagles were the first attempt to bring pro hockey to south Florida, and I think this is a good enough looking jersey to give it another shot to see the ice. Please let me know what you think or where anything can be improved, I’m working on a Winter Classic logo now, and the Wide World of Sports at Disney world seems like the obvious choice for a location, but there may be a better location I’m not thinking of, and that would obviously change the logo.
  3. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Revision: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic. Revision: I put the penguin in a complete keystone and I like it, but I still think the half keystone looks better. Lightning: Honestly something's missing from this one, but everything I add makes it look worse so I decided to ask you all what you think. the L works pretty good but it seems empty. Again, these aren't really meant to replace the logo front of the jersey, most are meant to be shoulder patches, but this one feels empty. Revision: Wordmark: I thought trying to make it a wordmark would work a little bit better, and it does in some aspects, but it feels really empty still. Canadiens: I took the Fleur from the Montreal flag and tried to turn it in to an "M"which I think works pretty well, but I do think it needs some more polishing. I don't really like this better than their current logo but I think something like it could work as a shoulder patch 1: 2: Stars: I took their old star logo and updated the colors and added a recolored Texas flag. Then I removed the wordmark and had the star go through the middle of a D in the same style as the other letters 1: 2: After a bit of a hiatus, I am back. I took the Spirit of Detroit and added wings to it. I am not sure if I want to add something in his hands but I am pretty proud of this logo My ham-fisted attempt to make the Wings one more Art Deco: I have had this Preds logo in my back pocket for a little while now, its super simple and is kind of a combination of their shoulder patch and chest logo. I plan on doing another one for the Preds as well but I thought I'd post this one just to get an idea of what you guys think Bruins: I changed the black to brown and put a modern style bear logo in the middle of the spokes, I think it could work as an alt shoulder patch. Panthers: In my honest opinion, the Panthers shoulder logo is absolutely perfect, so I can’t do better than that. I’m working on a retro nose art one but if I can’t find any reference images this will be what I work off of
  4. I've been messing around in NHL18 working on a custom league to post on the boards and as a break I decided to fix my favorite team (and hopefully future Stanley Cup Champion), the Tampa Bay Lightning. I like blue being the primary color but I'm sick to high heaven of the scrimmage jokes when they play Toronto. So black returns in a fairly prominent way
  5. Here we go again..... It's been awhile since I dabbled with the Thunder's look. I'm starting off slow this time with a concept board. It shows several different configurations of bison/cloud looks. The key ideas/thoughts/buzz words here are; power - maleficent - foreboding. Let me know what you think.
  6. As much as I love the new Bolts logo and uniforms, when they're placed next to the Maple Leafs it REALLY drives home how similar the two are. While some clamored for the old set I honestly didn't like the striping and I prefer Tampa Bay as a blue base team as opposed to a black base. Nevertheless, black and silver need to comeback to distinguish the Bolts from the Leafs and so here we are One of my biggest pain points with the old set is that too much black weighed down the uniform. This is alleviated by keeping the black to a minimum secondary and brightening the blue. (It's for this reason there are sleeves on the road whites but not on the home blues. The primary logo stays almost the exact same as far as proportion but you can see the how the brighter blue pops allowing the use of black without added weight. The existing wordmarks would carry over just with the new blue used. So Tampa Bay...ready to stop looking like you're in Ontario?
  7. Trying to play with something I always thought would work for the Bolts. I like the secondary they have now, but I just thought this could be a tertiary, or if they ever make the secondary the primary. I tried to do my own bevel...but I kinda got stuck. So I'm providing two examples, one with the unfinished bevel and one without. Its still a work in progress. Let me know what you think, any advice, changes that need to be made. Thanks.
  8. This may sound crazy, however Florida would make a great place for an outdoor game, probably a stadium series game. The perfect place would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium (Raymond James Stadium). Tampa Bay can reach the temperature of nearly 32 F, a perfect temperature and can sustain ice long enough. This would be perfect for these two Florida teams, shedding much press attention on what would have otherwise been a fairly unnoticed event by them. The jersey were based off the old Tampa jerseys mashed together and were meant for Tampa only, however the Panthers looked too good in them to pass by. Generally the theme besides storm vs sun is retro jerseys. The arena would be set up with palm trees all around the outskirts similar Minnesota's pine tree display. There would be a small picture above the arena of a sun facing off against a storm, pushing against one another. This would be between the logos. When the Bolts come out lightning coils will activate as they walk in. When the Panthers walk in fire will erupt followed by gold-ish smoke. Worst case scenario it all melts .
