  1. Hello again everyone! As some of you may remember, a while ago I had a series in the Sports Fan-Fiction portion of the site before it closed a couple months ago. Since then I have been reposting the old stories on another website, if you are interested in following along click the link in my sig. I just got caught back up and am posting new posts again. I thought that I aught to post my designs on here for people to see, much like others have done after the closing of the Sports Fan-Fiction forum. Here are the logos of all of the teams in the league.
  2. Hello everyone, I am currently taking a little break from my MAHL series in the sports fan fiction page to work on this new project I have been thinking about doing for a while. I plan on going back to it very soon, and it by no means is going to die, I just want to change it up a little bit ya know? Anyways, there has been a little bit of talk on the boards lately about high school hockey and with the state tournament just a week away, I thought now would be a great time to make a series where I redesign every men's high school hockey team in the state (I have nothing against the women's teams, there just are more men's teams and a lot of women's teams are combined with other schools). I will make a home, away and alternate for every team in the state. I'm just gonna say this now, I will be using logos that are used by the high school, so if they happen to actually belong to a college or professional team, it is the schools fault, I am just trying to make use of what they really use. In a few cases I might decide to make a logo, only if what the school really uses is THAT bad. All of the logos will likely be re-done by me in illustrator to prevent pixelation and just overall improve the quality, so if anyone would like to see the logo alone I could post that as well, just ask. I'll be choosing conferences at random, but I'll begin with the Lake Conference since they have some of the biggest schools in the state. Up first I have Eden Prairie. The Eagles use the flying eagle logo from Boston College both on its own and in front of "EP" for Eden Prairie as their logos. Eden Prairie High School Nickname: Eagles Enrollment: 3,018 Rival(s): Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata Class: AA State Titles: 2 (2009, 2011) State Tournament Appearances: 11 (1992, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) Home: I brought back the Mittelstadt era uniform with a few tweaks. The black stripe near the bottom of the jersey is gone to simplify it as it didn't really add anything IMO, and the BC Eagle logo is added to the breezers. This is a unique jersey that is instantly identifiable as EP, I still don't know why they switched from it. Away: The away jersey is new to EP, it is simply a color swapped version of their home with red taking prominence over the white. Alternate: The Eagles currently don't have a red jersey, which is stupid. They instead use these grey for grey's sake alternates. I love the script on those jerseys, I just hate the grey, so I took that jersey, made it red and adjusted the striping to match. I think this is a good faux-back look for them that brings their primary school color back into the uniform rotation. Let me know what you think, comments are appreciated!
  3. So we learned at this year's NHL Winter Classic that the 2020 Winter Classic will be hosted by the Dallas Stars and held at Cotton Bowl Stadium on new year's day of the new decade. We don't know who they're playing yet however, once we do I'm sure concepts will really start rollin' so I wanted to be one of the first. I selected their opponent as the Minnesota Wild, because right now they're the most popular choice, the backstory's great, and it just... has to happen. Come on, who wouldn't wanna watch two enemy fanbases bicker over history as they stir a cup of cocoa with their last candy cane? I know I would. Plus they're the closest thing the Stars have to a rival rn. Anyway, as usual, the WC branding in my concept is neutral, no team colors. The shape is based off of a mounted animal head plaque, like you'd see on a hunter's wall, only with a freakishly large deer head attached to the front of it. Mounted animal heads, although a tad barbaric, are a symbol of hard-fought victory in the winter, no place more than in Texas, making it a good metaphor for the WC game. The rest of the logo serves as that trophy, in a way, symbolizing two teams hunting a win. The top part part of the badge is shaped like the top of Cotton Bowl stadium's facade and the t part of the "Winter" is a pair of mounted bull horns (nod to the Texas Longhorns) spearing a puck . Making the "Winter" part of the logo icy white and blue just seemed wrong for Dallas, who's not known for its frigid winters, so I opted for cream. The bright orange? I... don't really even know, I just like the boldness of it (TEXAS!!!) and I admit, w/ a touch of shame, I got most of my inspiration from Texas Roadhouse's decor. It's just such concentrated Texas-ness. I hope it works! Dallas' Unis are inspired by the old Dallas Texans and Minny's are kinda... playing North Stars dress-up. The striping's the same from their 60's years. They couldn't get away with any more, but they gotta get a nod in there for spiciness. Thank you so much for watching, let me know what you think, C&C always!
  4. Hey guys, EJaws here. Im deciding to start a Minnesota High School hockey redesign. Ill be starting with the Metro East conference and we will go from there! LETS MEET THE TEAMS/PLAY HOCKEY! Hastings Raiders [Royal Blue & Gold] Henry Sibley Warriors [Red & Las Vegas Gold?] Hill Murray Pioneers [Green & Black] Mahtomedi Zephyrs [Navy & Gold] North St Paul Polars [ Red & White] Simley Spartans [Blue & Red] South St Paul Packers [Maroon & White] St. Thomas Academy Cadets [Blue & White] Tartan Titans [Black & Blue] To Begin this project i started with remaking the Conference logo. I decide i needed to remake it when the only image I could find was 90x79. I really like the way this logo was going, so I tried to clean it up a bit. OLD LOGO-> NEW LOGO-> CC is appreciated
  5. HJC just finished their Pairs Comp, And I teamed up with fellow designer Burkus Circus for an idea for a 2019 Centennial Classic doubleheader. The main idea is that the NHL is helping the Packers celebrate their centennial season by playing two outdoor games at Lambeau Field. First, a College matchup between the Golden Gophers and Badgers, then an NHL showdown between the Blackhawks and Wild. I designed the Event Logo, Ice Surface, and Slideshow, while Burkus Circus designed the jerseys and title page. Disclaimer: I have received full permission from Burkus Circus to display our work here. Thanks for watching!
  6. As a Jazz fan who's not a huge fan of the current design (minus the City Edition jersey), I figured I would try my hand at redesigning the team. Changing the colors to dark purple, teal, and copper, the team resurrects a snowflake logo. The Association uniform is off-white, the Icon uniform purple, the Statement uniform teal, and the new City Edition uniform a gradient going from pewter blue to dark blue. C&C welcome!
  7. As a native Minnesotan, I usually get a little disappointed or dismayed by the Twins concepts I see on the forum. Their identity always seems like a bit of an afterthought, often subject to a recolor so as to differentiate the Twins from a myriad of RWB teams in the league. Instead of taking this approach, I wanted to work (for the most part) with the existing color scheme whilst drawing from the team's history. With that in mind, I reintroduced light blue into the color scheme. While light blue was restricted to their road uniforms in an era when several teams were using it for their road uniforms, this historical precedence combined with the fact the state's name literally means "sky-tinted water" makes it a suitable vehicle for setting them apart from teams with similar colorways. This addition of light blue spells the end for Kasota gold. I didn't necessarily hate its addition a few years ago, but its application was unsuccessful and does not fit with the light blue. One of the more popular changes for posters is to correct the inconsistencies between the team's wordmarks. I decided to follow suit, but took a decidedly different approach. The result applies the Minnesota Wild script to the Twins, using a Tuscan-esque font that takes cues from the area's history as a railroad and flour milling hub. The TC logo follows suit, and I put an M back on the away cap. Here, it calls back to the successful minor league Minneapolis Millers. Lastly, Minnie and Paul are updated with the new colors and wordmark as well as altering the state outline to be more geographically accurate. It is promoted to the primary, replacing the squad's generic baseball roundel. Got all that? Good. Now look at it. Let me know what you think. I also have a decidedly modern take on the Twins that I will post sometime in the coming week. Take care.
  8. I am a huge fan of how recognizable and unique the current Minnesota Vikings logo is but after studying design for a few semesters, I've come across some fundamental composition flaws in the viking head. 1. Since this a profile view of the viking, the back horn should not be visible to us. It should be obstructed by the horn closest to us. 2. The shape of the emblem as a whole fights for your attention because it has multiple points pulling you in different directions. This isn't a problem if the directions are equidistant (like a star) or pulling you in a general direction but the helmet, horns, hair, braid, and mustache all bring you somewhere else (as pictured in the diagram below). Now these things seem minor, but they leave the viking head looking very static in space. 3. The mustache looks fine. This is just personal opinion but I think beards look meaner. My goal for this redesign was to create a streamlined, visually appealing, and tougher version of the classic logo that feels like a natural progression into the future. My solution to my issues with the existing logo was to remove the back horn, recompose the curves to all point behind the viking head, and add a beard for a tougher and more modern look. I'm still in the process of refining the logo but I wanted to post it on here to get some feedback before I dive in too far. The beard feels sort of empty compared to the interior of the hair but I'm not sure how to incorporate the same line quality without making it feel too busy.
  9. I want to start this off by saying that IMO much of the Timberwolves current set looks good (but I am a fan of the team). I am of the group of people that thinks they should reach back and use a blue/green/silver color scheme. I also think that the current "angry wolf head" looks like a strange wolf/coyote/saluki mix. All of these thoughts will show through in my concept. There are things about this concept that may have been tried, in another way, before; but it seems like this is the first time they're all put together into one concept. So I give you the Power of the Pack:
  10. So, I found the original Minnesota Vikings logo used from 1961-1965. I think this one looks better and cleaner than the current one displayed, and was wondering if we could update it. This is not a custom design by myself, it is the original logo designed by Karl Hubenthal in 1961.
  11. The Northstar Soccer League is a fictional soccer league made up of 20 teams from all across the great state of Minnesota, I hope you enjoy this series.
  12. I had this idea for the Wolves a while ago when other NBA teams were rolling out their "Pride" uniforms. Minnesota was primarily known for French voyaguers, Scandinavian vikings, Native Americans. I figured the MNUFC Loons and NSC Stars (when they were around) used the French "L'Étoile du Nord" theme and the Vikings using the viking theme that I should go with the Native aspect. The Ojibwe and Dakota are Minnesota's main tribes. I forget why, but I went with the Ojibwe word for 'Wolves' being 'Ma'iigan'. So using Daniel Ramone's template, I threw this together with the new Midnight Blue and Aurora Green of the wolves. I didn't think the current number font of the Wolves worked well with this, so I found a Jimmy Butler shirsey online and used that. The trees are from the promo when the Wolves first announced they would be unveiling a new logo. C&C appreciated!
  13. Let me start by saying that this is NOT intended to replace the grinning Goldy. Also, I KNOW that the school would not replace the current Goldy with this one. After I did the Michigan Wolverine and Wisconsin Badger I thought I'd try to give a similar feel to the Minnesota Gophers. I used the 13 striped ground squirrel for reference; no it's not a gopher but judging by Goldy's tail it's what he is based off of and many people call the ground squirrel a gopher. I think it turned out to have a good balance of cute and fight. Comment with your thoughts.
  14. Attempt at neatening up the Wild that I sent into HJC and was looking for some C&C on. Tried making their set more cohesive among other adjustments.
  15. About a month after I meant to get started on the final leg of the Anniversary saga, here I go...the multi-team North Stars series finally begins, and we kick things off with the 60s. The Wild do battle with the Predators, whose uniform design is based on one of their spiritual ancestors, the Nashville Dixie Flyers Down in Big D, the Stars face off with a foe that can legitimately be the visting team in any decade...yes, it's the 'Nucks again, this time borrowing from their minor league namesakes. For the upcoming 70s post, I'm considering using the Cleveland Monsters instead of the Blue Jackets for the Barons tribute. Very strongly, I might add. I give you an early preview of the disco decade...the Sharks, paying tribute to the California Golden Seals (at home, for once) take on the Avs (in the style of the Nordiques' originals)
  16. I personally like the red home jerseys, but as an alt, not the home jersey. So I came up with something else. Feedback is appreciated.
  17. Lets face it: the current T-Wolves primary logo is outdated. They need to use the howling wolf in a circle as their primary logo. With that said, I have a concept for a revamped Timberwolves court. Tell me what you think!
  18. This is my take on a Minnesota throwback jersey C&C is appreciated *Template created by Doug Houvener
  19. Hey all. Here is my take on a new home jersey for the Minnesota Wild. I think their current home jersey has too much red, and feels like it classhes with the green, however I did not want to get rid of it all together. I also think that Minnesota's logo is beautiful and should be showcased. So I chose to use that logo instead of the roundel one the team currently uses. Let me know what you guys think.
  20. Back when I was a college student in 2011, I made a hybrid T-Wolves logo that combined the original logo with the current one. Yesterday, I finally decided to re-make it with improved bezier curves. This is the original image from 2011 (that quite few people have stolen and claimed to be their own logo over the years...but I digress...): And here's the new one with different color scheme and backgrounds/borders: Lastly (for now) here's one I just whipped up that I don't feel that good about...but it's a direction I'd like to explore more: Thoughts? I know the actual re-brand will likely alter things to a much greater degree...but I'm going to at least enter this into ESPN's contest. Just don't know which one yet.
  21. I'd seen that unused black-heavy North Stars alternate set in the Unused Logos thread, so I decided to see what it'd look like with numbers. Not much of a true concept, I know, but I digress. And then I wondered how it'd look if the black was replaced with a very dark green (trust me, it's green).
  22. I came up with this Minnesota State flag concept. I have a few alternative color schemes but I'm pretty set with the design. The one shown is my favorite but the full album link is provided on the bottom of the page. The colors are darker versions or copys of the current state flag colors,The Nordic cross represents Minnesota's Nordic heritage, and the North Star represents the North Star State. I'm open to ideas and C/C! Full Album Link: http://imgur.com/a/TSGuw
  23. Chicago Huskies concept is part of the fictional Great Lakes Hockey Association that also has my other concept for the league the Marathon Argos based in Marathon, Ontario. I plan on posting this to Hockeyjerseyconcepts. I altered the UConn Huskies logo to look more like my huskie Moxie's fur patterns and tones. She has more of a cream tone and not white that is why there is little to no white color in the concept. and the pawprint is based off of her own pawprint . There will be more designs of other teams coming possibly.
  24. A few years ago I posted a version of the logo that was still a work in progress. Here's the new, completely remastered version that was 100% created/recreated in Illustrator: https://www.behance.net/gallery/25720211/Ultimate-Minnesota-Sports-Logo It's a combination of the following logos: My ultimate goal is to do one for each state. Thoughts?
  25. The current ‘Wolves branding is a slight fixer-upper of a logo that was originally introduced in 1996. As of late, their aesthetic has gone from a nice mix of green and blue, to looking more and more like the Orlando Magic (especially with their two primarily used wolf-head and howling wolf logos) and in their uniforms, utilizing only black, blue and silver. The current trees look like legos, and the yellow in the eyes are garish. The NBA has an overabundance of blue, and unique color schemes are few and far between. With such a unique name, that suits the area so well, the Wolves owe it to themselves to have a stand-out and cohesive brand. With a young, fresh, unique and star-studded line up including the likes of Karl Anthony-Towns, Andrew Wiggins, Ricky Rubio and Zach LaVine, the Wolves need a brand that reflects this new energy. A full-view PDF presentation with process, uniforms, court, apparel and more below. Short preview images below the link: http://issuu.com/ianbakar/docs/ianbakar_timberwolves_rebrand2015/1 I realize the color settings turned out a little muted in the PDF. It's never done that to me. Still trying to figure that out.
