  1. Welcome to what is now my first completed concept series, the NHL City Mashup Series! In this series, I will be taking the identity of each NHL team and combining it with the identity of another team (different sport) in that team's city. Some rules I set for myself were Team must be in either the MLB, NBA, NFL, MLS, or CFL. The jersey must be in the style of the NHL team's jersey. The other team's colours will be the ones on the jersey. The fonts should be either the official team's font or a close matching font. Teams: Anaheim Ducks (Angels) Arizona Coyotes (Cardinals) Boston Bruins (Celtics) Buffalo Sabres (Bills) Calgary Flames (Stampeders) Carolina Hurricanes (Charlotte Hornets) Chicago Blackhawks (Cubs) Colorado Avalanche (Nuggets) Columbus Blue Jackets (Crew) Dallas Stars (Cowboys) Detroit Red Wings (Tigers) Edmonton Oilers (Eskimos) Florida Panthers (Heat) Los Angeles Kings (Dodgers) Minnesota Wild (Twins) Montreal Canadiens (Expos) Nashville Predators (Titans) New Jersey Devils (Jets) New York Islanders (Nets) New York Rangers (Knicks) Ottawa Senators (Redblacks) Philadelphia Flyers (Eagles) Pittsburgh Penguins (Pirates) San Jose Sharks (49ers) St Louis Blues (Cardinals) Tampa Bay Lightning (Buccaneers) Toronto Maple Leafs (Raptors) Vancouver Canucks (Whitecaps) Vegas Golden Knights (Raiders) Washington Capitals (Wizards) Winnipeg Jets (Blue Bombers) without further adieu, here's the first mashup, the Anaheim Angels in the style of the Anaheim Ducks. (Yes, I am aware they aren't the Anaheim Angels, but heck with that) C&C is appreciated! I am also considering doing throwback jerseys for each mashup, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the idea.
  2. Winter break means... not a lot to do so I can try to jump back into some jersey and logo concepts! This is hopefully be a series that will cover every NHL team. Some of them will get brand new logos, not all of them. I'm gonna start off with two rebranded teams: the Blackhawks today and the Avs tomorrow. Often designs I used will be influenced by other designers, and I'll try my best to give each of them credit. 1/30: Chicago Blackhawks Without having a huge political argument over whether or not the Blackhawks logo is offensive, I've always liked the idea of using a literal hawk in the logo instead of the Chief. This is obviously influenced by Mike Ivall's original design, as well as Brandon Moore's recent crack at it as well. As aesthetically appealing as the old shoulder logo was, I think the tomahawk motif is a bit outdated so I went more straightforward. I chose a path closer to the 60s-90s logo, where in normal application the Hawk has no outline, but on the jersey it has a gold outline. The jerseys are consistent with the ones now, although I changed the numbers on the aways to better balance out the red and black compared to now. C&C is of course appreciated, and I'll have a new Avs logo and jersey tomorrow!
  3. Welcome to my new series, the New Look NHL! In this series, My goal is to give each NHL team a new look (compared to what they unveiled with Adidas) based on many things, such as one-off jerseys, the team's mascot in real life, or just ideas that come into my head. This is not a tweaking series or an Ideal look series. Some jerseys in this series could be on a 90's level of craziness, and others a simple, timeless look. Due to my lack of logo-making skills, I will be using some teams' primary or alternate logos, or I might mashup some of a teams' logos. Teams: Anaheim Ducks Arizona Coyotes Boston Bruins Buffalo Sabres Calgary Flames Carolina Hurricanes Chicago Blackhawks (Rainbowhawks) Colorado Avalanche Columbus Blue Jackets Dallas Stars Detroit Red Wings Edmonton Oilers Florida Panthers Los Angeles Kings Minnesota Wild Montreal Canadiens Nashville Predators New Jersey Devils New York Islanders New York Rangers Ottawa Senators Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins San Jose Sharks St. Louis Blues Tampa Bay Lightning Toronto Maple Leafs Vancouver Canucks Vegas Golden Knights Washington Capitals Winnipeg Jets Let's kick this off! I always thought that the Ducks were a green/jade team, so I used Jade as the base colour for the set. The striping isn't exactly 'new' but think it'll pass. The stripes are not slanted, and feature three stripes and then a cuff the colour of the middle stripe. This pattern is also used on the hem and socks. I used a rounded font for the numbers and names to tie it all together. The equipment is purple aside from the helmets. C&C is appreciated! I am not doing this is any particular order, so if you want to see a certain team done, or a set done in a certain way, feel free to post any idea you have.
  4. I decided to do a Ducks-Sharks Stadium Series concept, since I've always thought it would be cool to see the Ducks play outdoors at Angels Stadium. The other two California teams have hosted Stadium Series games, so while it's unlikely, it only feels logical that the Ducks would eventually do the same. As you can tell, both of the jerseys combine aspects from the teams' past and present uniforms. For the Ducks, I went with the original Mighty Duck logo, as well as very similar striping pattern as their original uniforms. With the Sharks, I combined their current logo together with their original jerseys, while swapping out the grey stripes with orange. The Stadium Series logo itself obviously is based on the "Big A" that is located just outside of Angels Stadium, while also borrowing from the Angels' color scheme itself. The home plate shape also continues the baseball motif. This is my first post here, so I would appreciate some feedback.
  5. Decided to do a mini-series inspired by the Mariners "Past Meets Present" scheme. However, the reverse applies to this series, as I am taking the best/most infamous sports logos of the 90s and giving them a modern color refresh, rather than the other way around. I'm starting off with the NHL, before moving onto the NBA, and MLB (I'm skipping the NFL because the league significantly lacks iconic "90s" logos and colors). With regard to the NHL series, the logos featured are the only ones that had noticeable color changes. In my opinion, the Blues and Canucks old logos with their new color schemes look the best while the old Capitals logo looks the worst with its new scheme. Hope you enjoy this series!
  6. Decided to give a redesign to all of the NHL uniforms, some to a greater extent than others. I used the current adidas format for everything. I started off by redesigning the Atlantic Division first (H=Home, A=Away, P=pants): BOSTON BRUINS H: New chest logo featuring the B as a more prominent yellow than the black they've used. I also removed the shoulder yoke to invoke the more classic Bruins designs of the past. Finally, the socks are now mainly yellow with a black and white stripe to match that of the sleeves. A: The uniform design stays mostly in tact, with exception to the new chest logo. The shoulder yoke better fills out the sweater on this design than the home uniform. P: The belt is now yellow and the new logo is added to the right side of the pant. BUFFALO SABRES H: The blue has been lightened and the silver has been removed almost entirely. The uniform style remains the same overall, but the weird front number is removed as well. A: Holds the same uniform design as the new adidas away jersey, simply with the lighter colors added. P: A new yellow belt is added and the pants' blue is matched to the home and road uniforms. DETROIT RED WINGS: H: No changes. I absolutely could not touch this timeless uniform in any way without making it worse. A: The sweater remains in tact, but the helmet is now red rather than white to invoke the "Red" in the Red Wings name. P: The stripe on the side is thinned to match the length on the uniforms. FLORIDA PANTHERS: H: The leaping panther logo returns to the front of the uniform in a much desired move. A: See "H". P: No changes for the pants, which really complement the uniforms. MONTREAL CANADIENS: H: No changes to what is a classic uniform. A: Major changes here though. The road uniform gets the home uniform's treatment. The "Habs" line goes on the road uniform now, while the logo colors are reversed to better contrast the line. The bottom stripe is also altered to better match the style of the home uniform. P: No changes. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING: H: Black returns to the Lightning color scheme in the form of both the neck and the sleeves. The ends of the sleeves are now completely black, giving the team a much more notable look. Black is also added to the sock design as well. A: All of the blue on this set is outlined with black to add the color to the other part of the uniform scheme. P: The Lightning stripe on the side now features a black outline. The belt color has also been changed to black. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS: H: The classic sweater remains in tact. The new socks bring back the three stripes commonly used on the Maple Leafs uniform set. A: See "H" P: No changes here. Up Next: Metro Division, where there will be a lot more changes...
