MLB Changes 2015

I have no idea what the Padres might have planned for the ASG, but I think camo is not too much of a stretch.

The way I see it, their current uniforms have no distinguishing features that you could apply to all teams, unless you just have one team in blue, one in sand, or gray?

The Friar is great, but what aspect of him could you use for an ASG hat or jersey? Make everyone wear a rope belt?

I figure they can go a couple of directions. They can do San Diego/beach themes, maybe incorporate the Coronado bridge?, or they can go full-on military. I am guessing that they go military because it is the safest way they can go. If they are doing something radically different next season( such as brown),or another color switch, they won't want to tip their hand yet. If they were to do that, they would be bombarded with the question, "Is that our new color scheme?!!!!", and then they would pretty much have to answer that. Whatever they do color and design wise, they will have a camo uniform as part of their look, so it is a safe bet.

I haven't even noticed that the All-Star jerseys use a new template. Maybe a fresh batch of BP uniforms is incoming for next season?

I thought the same thing, but new BP jerseys cam out for the 2014 season I thought. Maybe we will be surprised.

You're right, but this is the same thing they did last time. They introduced the new BP template for 2014 in the 2013 ASG (as can bee seen here). Besides, it seems like the league changes the template every couple seasons.

There's been rumors of the Padres changing "next season" for the past five years or so. And we got word a year or two ago that the new owner was doing fan surveys asking what they thought of the uniforms and specifically the brown. Unfortunately, nothing concrete has been announced and nobody in the know has leaked that they will be changing. I'd love to see the Padres go back to brown and yellow, but I'll believe it when I see it. I think they'll go on like the Brewers - wearing new crap while still selling bunches of gear in the colors fans prefer.

They did get new uniforms (technically) three years ago.

Let's just hope they go with navy and red. There's only twelve major league teams with some form of that color scheme, how on earth are we supposed to know this league is patriotic? And why on earth would you not base your major league identity on some minor league team you'd have to be in your mid-50's to have a firm memory of?

I actually really like the current Brewers identity. :/

The navy/red sceme really is so badly overused (I know you were being sarcastic, I'm just agreeing).. And any form of red/blue makes the numbers even more staggering (and yes, I include teams like the Yankees and Dodgers who use red in their logos and wordmarks

I know. But the current jerseys suck. Also, the colors didn't really change, so it's a difference that probably 90% of the fanbase wouldn't have noticed (considering they had already switched to gray road unis the year before). I mean, the Padres might do something like that again, tweaking the current crap and kicking the can down the road a few more years until they could potentially get a real identity, but I don't think they'll rebrand in any significant way.

Would people around here prefer if the Padres went back to the 90's orange and blue look? The more I think about it, the more I think that was their best look. And I do love the Krok era look.

We don't need a third navy and orange team in the majors (not to mention 13 teams with navy hats) when we only have one brown team in all of major professional sports.

You're not alone, I do too. In fact, I feel they look the best they've ever looked right now.

This truly isn't intended at all to be a shot towards anyone who prefers the ball-in-glove, but I'm just genuinely curious as to why the throwback look seems to be so heavily favored; is it Yount/Molitor & Co. nostalgia, or is it truly preferred aesthetically and design-wise?

In my personal opinion, the throwback look is pretty good, don't get me wrong. I just feel the current look fits "Brewers" 10x better than the throwbacks ever did (one identity revolves around cleverly-rendered baseball equipment, the other actually looks like beer labeling/branding...), and is much better designed than its given credit for. But, so far as I understand it, all of that seems to get tossed to the fire because, well, Robin Yount never wore it.

Again, I really don't intend any of that as a shot at all. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I've just always been genuinely curious as to why that seems to be with Milwaukee.

I think it's because the current design is so poorly rendered.

Setting aside the huge hole in the "B", which always bugs me, there's some very serious problems with the wordmark. It looks awkward on the angle they chose, which is why they had to rotate it to get it to fit on the primary logo. Plus there's the needless detail of an outline and two dropshadows. It's needlessly fussy.

The cap logo has similar problems - too many line weights, and the little curve at the bottom throws the motion all off.

There's also using Times New Roman, which is a curious choice. Great for documents, not so great on a uniform.

The combined effect is a curious blend of over-designed and sterile. I'm not surprised that it hasn't really taken root.

I dislike everything about the current Brewers set. I dislike the logo, the wordmarks, the numbers, the drop shadow and multiple outlines of clutter. I dislike "Brewers" on the road jersey, although that would be an easy fix. I dislike the recent khaki jerseys they pass for metallic gold. Most of all, I hate the colors. Metallic colors don't work in baseball outside of an accent color that you could easily dismiss without losing anything (such as the Mariners' use of silver or the Giants with gold).

As for the BiG, I like it. It's a nice whimsical logo, but I'd be plenty happy if they came up with a new one. I'm not in love with the design of the throwback unis, but they are in an incredible color scheme which is (currently) not used in baseball. The Brewers should have never left the colors blue and yellow, and they need to return to it before the derpy Mariners try to liven the fanbase by switching to the colors they wore when the franchise was terrible, irrelevant and on the verge of leaving town because nobody came to see them in an awful dome.

The ONLY thing about the Brewers current identity that I don't love is that color of navy blue. If they lightened that up (preferably to royal) or went to green (best option IMO), they'd be perfect.

I get the dislike of the word marks cause they're a bit wonky, but that's what I like about them. It's unique and effective IMO.

Personally, I LOVE the Brewers' color scheme. It's much more "beer-like" than the royal blue and yellow. However, that's literally the only thing I like about their set. The logos and wordmarks suck, and the use of Times New Roman is just laughable. I'd love to see the Brewers get a new look, but keep the colors.

Sorry but I don't see what's "beer-like" about Times New Roman. How that's stuck around so long I'll never understand. And the wordmark is okay, but if we're talking beer, there are so many better script logos to take inspiration from! Arguably the world's number one source of A+ script logos in fact.
