That's a cool hat, no doubt, and I even own one from the last time they wore it. But their current hat is the most solid one they've ever had by a country mile. I also think it's the best look they've ever had aside from the navy CA California Angels hat with the red brim, which is my absolute favorite, but the ship on that set has long since sailed. It's like Dumb and Dumber with that organization.Maybe because it's hedious (I even own one because it was so out there but man it's impossible to take seriously on a Major League player), they didn't even match it with orange undershirts or an orange helmet, light hats with dark scripts don't work (see Texas Rangers), and having one hat is better for brand consistency (it's ok to have a couple alternate unis I suppose, but you need at least one consistent element across all of your uniforms)The Marlins identity may suck, but getting rid of that stupid hat and bring back their best uniform (I love the white script on grey, it pops really well despite of how bad the font is) is a step in the right direction. Not only do I like the red vs blue LA baseball dynamic that the red Angels cap creates, but the halo cap just doesn't work. We know it's supposed to be a halo, but it just doesn't look like it in practice. They end up looking like the west coast Jewish Red Sox. Muddies up a fantastic wordmark.How so? On the old jerseys, the teal gets lost a bit when next to the navy, and the silver gets completely lost in the white.
