FiddySicks
I'm normally against this, but I've warmed up to the idea of the Giants ditching any attempt at putting San Francisco or SF on the roads (even though I do like both) in favor of just going with a grey version of the home set, similar to what the Cardinals do. It wouldn't be absolutely ideal, but what they have now isn't either, and their home set is strong enough to carry over to the road set IMO.Truth is though, they'd be best served just going back to the road set they had in 2010, squished word mark and all. That was as close to effect as they've ever been.I liked when they had the condensed-block "San Francisco" without any gold drop-shadowing, which gets lost between orange and grey. Can't go wrong emulating Juan Marichal! Sartorially, at least.I think the Giants ditched the gold drop shadow on the road jerseys a few years ago for that very reason, didn't they? Packid
Admittedly, I've got some color-blindness problems, but that Indians alt does look straight-up black to me.

I think I'm one of the few here that actually likes it.

Tigers6884
I kinda like it.Me too, it's definitely better than the light navy the Rays/Brewers use. The lighting in Houston is pretty dark, so hard to judge the photos we've seen lately. Wait til we see it in natural light to see it better. Ferdinand Cesarano
I know that this does not count as evidence of anything; but I could not resist sharing it, in light of the recent conversation about the Giants' history.I happened to be watching a Beastie Boys performance from 2004, and I was very pleased to see Mix Master Mike wearing a New York Giants cap with a then-current Giants sweatshirt. That wordmark was vertically arched, so it matched the mark that the Giants used on their uniforms from the early 1930s through to the late 1970s.Right there is a man who respects history. If the word mark was vertically arched, then it wasn't current in 2004. The Giants ditched the vertically arched wordmark in 2000.Ah, good catch. Thanks for the correction.

Light navy is great on its own, but when paired with bright red the darker shade is a must. You're going for maximum contrast there. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. I was so happy the tribe finally went back to the darker shade this season. The Brewers and Rays should also consider it since it would look way better than light navy with gold and light blue... BBTV
What are those white hats the Phillies are wearing for?1915 throwbacks.they were playing the Red Sox, who they lost to in the WS in 1915, so they wore caps from that year. The REd Sox did not (would have just been solid wolf gray). SilverBullet1929
My first post! I've been reading these boards forever... I don't know how it took me so long to sign up. I'm a die-hard baseball fan AND an artist/art teacher so uniforms, logos, colors, etc have always caught my eye.Anyways, just chiming in on the new Cleveland midnight navy. Its definitely a blue as I went and found multiple pictures of it but it's also definitely too dark. The Sox use a midnight navy helmet and cap that can come off as black but their navy blue tops are clearly blue.I like that the Indians are trying to match the jersey to the new shade on the cap but if this keeps looking as black in so many instances, they might have to lighten it up a few notches to avoid the confusion. As of now, while it kinda looks cool as an "almost-black" it also looks like a mid-2000's fashion jersey and I highlt doubt that's what they were going for.Someone did point out that it does finally differentiate between Cleveland and Minnesota and that is at least a positive.Overall I'm a big fan of them making all their navys match and darkening them up. The light navy didn't work for me, the picture a few posts up that shows the new and old comparison nails it for me. And others mentioned the Rays and Brewers using a light navy but in my eyes it works fine for them, especially Tampa Bay who is trying to represent the oceans and marine-type of things like that so the lighter shade is best and the darker might not work at all. Milwaukee looks ok because its paired with gold though a darker tone would still look good. Cleveland pairing the light navy with red was a killer for me. TBGKon
Light navy works for MIL/TB. Like said above, the pairing of light navy and red just made the blue look purple. No way the Rays go to dark navy as they would more resemble division rival NYY. Bmac
I spoke with a member of the Phillies organization who told me they think the Phillies are wearing those throwback caps again later in the season. I think that's odd considering the reasoning for wearing them in the first place. I know for a fact the Phillies are wearing the red throwback caps from last season again, so perhaps the employee was mixed up on throwbacks. https://www.behance.net/bmatukewic8043
