Andrew Friedman to the Dodgers. It's impossible to overstate how much they upgraded from an idiot like Colletti to arguably the best GM in baseball.

As for the Rays, it looks like it's back to obscurity and the basement until they inevitably move to Montreal. At least Friedman didn't go to a division rival or other AL team, so there's that.

It's not like Andrew Friedman was the only person in the Rays organization with his philosophies, and with his departure so go the philosophies. I can't say the Rays will be "fine" necessarily, because who knows if Friedman's successor can do as good an all-around job as he did, but I hardly take this as a sign that the Rays will fade back into obscurity.

As for the Dodgers, my only concern there is how much further Friedman can really take Los Angeles. I'm not even concerned with the overly-simplistic mindset some will have about "well, if he can win 90 games with the Rays payroll, surely LA will win a lot more their payroll" rubbish. What I'm concerned with is that, coming into 2014, LA was probably the odds-on favorite to win the World Series. They ended up winning 94 games this year. They got bit by SSS and #CardsDevilMagic, whatever. What I'm saying is LA already has an excellent, World Series caliber team with a huge payroll. While Friedman is excellent, I'm just not sure how Friedman is supposed to *further* this cause. If Kershaw and Greinke starting three out of four (and, if it had gone five, four out of five) games in a best-of-5 wasn't enough to spare off a one-and-done playoff run, then there's nothing even the best baseball mind around can do to account for playoff randomness. Whatever the case is, I'm sure Friedman will do the best that he can.

Drafting.

He hasn't been any good at drafting. Out of all the players he's drafted since 2007, only four are on the Rays' major league 40-man roster, and none of them are exactly superstars. He lived off LaMar's draft classes to an extent when he first arrived and the farm system only went downhill from there.

It's making smart trades and swindling other teams out of their top prospects that he has been good at.

Mike Matheny is the worst head coach or manager in all of sports. He is unbelievably bad.

Bitc#ing, whining, moaning and calling Matheny the 'worst coach/manager in sports,' while the Cardinals were on the receiving/gifting end of many other devastating managerial moves by their opponents? Definitely the "Cardinal Way."

Did anyone else catch that These O's Aint Royal T shirt Jeremy Guthrie was wearing? That was awesome. I want one of those.

I'm having trouble deciding who I want to see the Royals play in the World Series (I can't believe I just typed that...) On one hand there's nothing really intriguing about a Giants/Royals matchup, but on the other hand :censored: the Cardinals. Hmm...

Phillies, Bears, and new NYFC fan.
