DustDevil61
Eighteen in a row! I'm not some bandwagon Hawks fan y'all. Been watching this team for 6 years now, and I can say that I have never been more happy to be a Hawks fan. This team is legit and CAN win the title.Good times for Atlanta. Glad to see ex-Jazz players Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll contributing so much on a contender and getting recognition for it (especially Millsap). tigerslionspistonshabs
Always kind of liked the Hawks. Always had a gritty team. With the Pistons hopes gone, I'm pulling for Atlanta, Memphis or Portland to take the crown.
CubsFanBudMan
*checks Eastern Conference standings**sees Hornets in 8th place**becomes nervously optimistic*This threw me for a second... and then I remembered the "Charlotte" part. Nice to gave the Hornets back in the east.
DG_ThenNowForever
I was really excited at the start of this NBA season. I was looking forward to LeBron's return to Cleveland (including a small hope Kyrie Irving would be exposed as a fraud, though it looks like that's only kind of happening), the possibility of the Spurs repeating (which they've never done), and the ascendance of Anthony Davis.Instead, we get the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks as the de facto best teams in the league. The Warriors weren't a surprise, but I'm just not equipped yet to accept the Hawks as a championship contender. I'm happy for the team and its fans, but it's still weird to see such a long-time nothing franchise doing so well. Miracles can happen, and it's good for the league as a whole to see this success in its second-tier markets. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
The_Admiral
It's so weird that Atlanta is a second-tier NBA market in the first place. It's like the Twin Cities being second-tier in the NHL, which is also a thing that happens. As always, I'm pulling for the Memphis Grizzlies to break through. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

That I post something? Or that the general, casual American sports fan often celebrates the National Football League for promoting its whole, "anyone can win in the NFL any day of the week because our sport is the fairest of them all" (while ignoring the same caste of AFC teams playing on the 1st Sunday in February over the last 20 years),...and reeks disgust of the National Basketball Association because "the same teams win over and over again since the league is rigged to help out big markets and the superstars."[in Principal Skinner's voice] "Prove me wrong kids; prove me wrong." CubsFanBudMan
Not to derail the thread, but the Hawks' winning streak ended at 19 last night.Amazing run. And they are now 40-9.Just to put it in my favorite perspective, the Bulls were 41-3 on this day in 1996.

FiddySicks
I'd love to see some new blood in the Finals this year. A Warriors vs Hawks or Grizzlies vs Raptors Finals or something like that would be absolutely refreshing. I think it would kinda restore some of my interest in the NBA too, even if only fleeting. But it's the NBA were talking about here. We're gonna end up getting, like, Lakers vs Patriots or something. The_Admiral
Yeah, Spurs-Cavaliers after all this long-overdue boat-rocking honestly wouldn't surprise me at all. Incidentally, what the hell happened to the Pacers? I looked away for a second and now they really suck. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
