Who will be No. 1: The 2015 NFL Draft Thread

Christmas came late this year as the Bucs get the first pick of the draft, Titans will pick second.

When I started this thread, I'd bet a king's ransom that the Raiders would pick ahead of the Bucs. What a difference a month makes.

If I'm Marcus Mariota, I'm yanking pages from the John Elway/Bo Jackson Draft Playbook as we speak, telling the Buccaneers, Titans, Raiders and Jets "If you draft me, I won't play there."

I don't think he has that in him. He is far to appreciative of his opportunities to tell a team to kick rocks. Imagine that, I'm low key getting on a guy for being a good dude. Jeez.

He could you know come back for his senior year??

I suppose, but then he is just playing with odds that aren't in his favor. Best to strike while the iron is hot in football.

If I'm Marcus Mariota, I stay to finish my degree. You couldn't get me to play for the Bucs at any price at this point, and I'm a Bucs fan!

Mariota graduated earlier this month.

This is the first year the Bears are drafting in the top ten since 2005. Hopefully it won't be worse than Cedric Benson!

Alright, the top two picks are between Mariota and Winston. Top 5 though? I say the Raiders get Amari Cooper. He'd be a great asset to Carr and would really improve that team. They have potential, not playoff potential, but potential to go over or reach .500

What do you guys think of the Tennessee Titans possibly trading the second overall pick? After all they drafted Zach Mettenberger last year and should at least give him one or two more years before moving on. Hear me out on this idea:

Titans trade 2014 2nd Overall Pick to the New York Jets for their 2014 6th Overall Pick, also two future first-round picks and a second-round pick. This is the exact trade the St. Louis Rams (2) and Washington Redskins (6) made in the 2012 draft so Washington could select Robert Griffin III.

This trade could benefit both franchises for the immediate and long term. Titans could use those extra picks to upgrade a lot of positions on their roster and the Jets can select a new franchise quarterback - Winston or Mariota - Whoever Tampa Bay doesn't pick. Now that the New York Jets have fired John Idzik and Rex Ryan, I have a feeling that Geno Smith's days as the face of the franchise are numbered and the new GM will be looking to go in a new direction. As well as Michael Vick will more than likely be out of the league after his contract is expired.

With that being said, I believe the Titans could still make a transaction to acquire a veteran quarterback to help mentor Mettenberger. The best case scenario would be for the Titans to acquire Jay Cutler from the Chicago Bears. Cutler was benched week 16 and if Chicago could find someone to take his salary off their hands, I'm sure this could be a done deal considering Chicago could move their team in a new direction, Cutler could continue to be a starting quarterback and he attended college at Vanderbilt. If I were the Titans, I would send over a few mid-level draft picks and absorb a portion of his salary. This would also allow Mettenberger to backup and learn from Cutler until his contract expires.

My gut reaction was to say that these things are cyclical and we have seen some fast turnarounds in the NFL. But the Raiders and Jets are absolute train wrecks and I would not want to play there either. If I am Mariota, I am hoping to end up on the Titans but could live with the Bucs.

Actually, given this year's QB class, I think a Mariotta (or Winston) would be better off being a mid-late round pick and having lower expectations. A Teddy Bridgewater situation as opposed to Johnny Football.

I don't understand all the hate for either the Raiders or the Bucs considering both were in the Superbowl in 2003. Even if the Raiders were picking in the top 3, they wouldn't be selecting a QB since they drafted Carr last season. They are slowly trying to turn their franchise around after Davis died, and not knowing if they will even be in Oakland in the future is really slowing the progress of the improvement.

I'd rather play for Tampa Bay than Tennessee to be honest. The Falcons are turning into an even larger train wreck and starters are constantly injured, Drew Brees will be entering his twilight years in the next few seasons and Cam Newton is an injury away from being as broken as Tony Romo. Tampa Bay won't be good in 2-3 seasons but when they are, look where the mentioned teams in their divisions will be at - more than likely in rebuilding phases.

The good thing for Mariota is that he is going from ugly uniforms in Oregon to the Ugliest in the NFL. He should fit right in at Tampa.

I don't understand all the love for the St. Louis Blues considering they had an awful franchise worst record of 18-50-12 in the 1978-79 season. (/sarcasm)

Yeah I agree. And I don't understand why an NFL team wouldn't ever consider just moving to the Colosseum in Rome when it was the worlds premiere sports venue back in 60... AD.
