Not used to people saying nice things about the Dawgs. Not really sure how I feel about it. We never play well under big expectations.

Don't worry. You'll blow it vs, like, Missouri or something.

Oh don't worry, I'm expecting it. Or even worse, Florida will be on a four game losing streak when they play us and just beat the brakes off of us.

Maybe they'll save us the consternation and lose to South Carolina. The SEC is setting up too perfectly for Georgia to win it for me to actually believe it will happen.

Interesting point - does that automatically remove Florida from the playoff picture?

Let's say Florida is undefeated and wins the SEC, 11-0. But there are likely to be a handful of 11-1 teams from other conferences and maybe a 12-0 squad as well. Does Florida's lack of a twelfth game help or hurt them?

I'd say no, they never lost is more important than having the same amount of win or what ever.

It hurts them because they will have to get to six wins other than Idaho to become bowl eligible. If they go 11-0 (they won't), then they should still make the playoff because a.they will have gone undefeated in the SEC and b.everyone will know that had they played Idaho, it wouldn't have been close.

The playoff talk is moot because Florida's going to be carrying several losses by the end of the season.

Strength-of-schedule wise...it helps Florida. Don't think any criteria says they have to play a minimum 12 games. But you don't worry about going 11-0 when you haven't played a game yet.

Hurts in terms of bowl eligibility....they still need 6 wins. Assuming a loss to Florida State, Florida needs to win their two other non-conference games and go 4-4 in the SEC. While I'm not counting them out of any game (they're still a really talented team), they need to get a conference win against one of Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Alabama, and Missouri. Kentucky and Vanderbilt should be gimmes, and Tennessee is a toss-up, especially in Knoxville. No margin of error for the Gators.

Why watch Arizona-UTSA when you can watch the Grand Valley State - Azuza Pacific game on CBS Sports Network

Because the teams in the former game are actually decent?

Yeah I guess UTSA is somewhat decent.

Yep, Gators - Vandals game ruled "No Contest" so that Showers kick-off return didn't actually happen. Florida will still pay Idaho $25K shy of a $1Mil.

In terms of the 11-game schedule helping or hurting the Gators, should they be in the race for a spot in the CFB Playoff, it really depends on their record and who they are fighting against and all, but let's first see if the Gators can beat Eastern Michigan. Gators are 38 point favorites.

So taking a quick look at the weather forecast in Gainesville, FL for tomorrow. alternating between Isolated and Scattered Thunderstorms all day tomorrow... :oh:

In other SEC news, the San Jose State Spartans travel to Auburn. SJSU beat FCS North Dakota 42-10. So this could be a drubbing by the Tigers, who are 30+ point favorites. SJSU has some playmakers though - I'll be curious to see what Blake Jurich, Jabari Carr, Tyler Winston and Tyler Ervin can muster. Ervin is quick, but going up against SEC speed we'll get to see how his speed matches up. Winston is the go-to-WR for the Spartans. I wouldn't be surprised to see Winston get a a number of throws his direction.

Yeah, I was going to mention that. Then again, I think that was the forecast for tonight too and despite being rainy, I don't remember seeing a great deal of lightning.

I think Florida will be pretty good this year, but I don't think they'll be in the playoff picture. Don't forget that the season before last they made the Sugar Bowl with a one-loss regular season. Last year, with as bad as they were, still played LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina close. With a competent offensive coordinator this year (their defense was real stout last year), I think they'll be a lot better than last year -- still not playoff good, though.
